We came here for our anniversary and everything was amazing. First of all coming in we were blown away by the ambiance and the cherry blossom tree. I have no idea how they even got that here but it definitely enhanced the experience Our service was great too, very attentive and knowledgeable. They also have a very decent amount of vegetarian options. We started off with the corn kakiage and mushroom baos, both were very delicious and savory. Our favorite was the kimchi fried rice. It was so good I forgot to take a picture The drinks we got were amazing too, our favorite was the litchi martini for sure Finally for dessert we got the matcha tiramisu which was so creative and a no brainer for us because it was 2 of our favorite things in one 10/10 worth it Yes everything is pricy but for fine dining and the experience we thought it was all worth it Perfect for a special occasion

We came here for our annual work dinner with our coworkers. We ordered "WIDE VARIETY of appetizers" from the "Hot", "Cold" and "ITAMEMONO" sections to try and majority of the main entrees from "land" and "sea". Standout MUST ORDER appetizers for your time here are "garlic wok mussels" and "steak tartare". Mussels are incredibly well seasoned in what I see as an asian fusion type of soy sauce/hosin. Great tasting mussels, no sand and not overpowering sauce. The steak tartare was the standout, they handled the raw ingredients very well and milk bread complimented it very well. As for the entree, I had the 10z grilled Ribeye. It's greatly plated, I love the addition of the sauce, salt and wasabi. It came with pickled greens and salads. But for a high end restaurant, I was a bit dissatisfied and disappointed by the ribeye itself, it was hard to eat since it was abnormally very "CHEWY" which is not normal for a high cut steak. Although the 10z ribeye was the "best value" for your dollar due to its portions compared to other dishes, it being very chewy knocks Janken down as a whole for me. I want to preface I ordered it as medium rare. The highlight of my meal was the matcha tiramisu, wok mussels, and steak tartare. For a high end restaurant, I would say majority of your dollars goes into the aesthetic and nice atmosphere of the place since its accompany with a nice cherry blossom tree and great attentive staff. Food wise... definitely went into the plating and aesthetics, I can recommend ordering from the ITAMEMONO, and hot/cold section. I can't recommend any other dishes though, that'll be up to y'all to try. What stops Janken from getting a 5 stars from me is a defining must order "entree".

I just went here for the first time with my partner for a date night, and we were both blown away. The atmosphere was perfect for a date night, it wasn't too loud that you could've hear each other but it also felt intimate like no one else could hear you. For drinks, definitely try one of their cocktails! My partner and I agreed they were some of the best cocktails we've had in Portland. For food, we got the crispy brussel sprouts which we're a kimchi sauce and were divine! We got the Yangnyum chicken with the most delicious Korean sweet and spicy sauce. The standout wad the Truffle tuna. I never would've thought to pair tuna with truffle but the flavors blended together seamlessly! Overall, it was some of the most impressive sushi in Portland!

Janken is a must- hit for lovers of Japanese & Korean cuisine. The modern ambiance and vibes mixed with exceptional service and a broad menu made it a treat. Not to mention prices were VERY reasonable for the quality of food/service (+ auto 20% service fee, love to see it) Both cocktails we had, we agreed, were our new favorites in Portland. Just special drinks. The sushi, Truffle Tuna in particular, was the star of the show. We were really impressed by the freshness & flavors in the rolls. Truffle in sushi was new to us but absolutely incredible. We would also recommend the Brussel Sprouts & Yangnyum chicken. Both had lots of texture and flavor. The kimchi vinaigrette stood out in particular. Just go to Janken. You'll love it.

Dined at Janken for a special night out and left feeling a bit mixed overall. The ambiance is undeniably beautiful. The interior feels upscale and thoughtfully designed, with a stunning tree centerpiece that really sets the mood. It's definitely an Instagram-worthy space and a great spot if you're going for atmosphere and aesthetics. Service was also excellent throughout the evening, with staff who were attentive, professional, and very accommodating. That said, while the food was good in terms of quality and presentation, nothing we tried truly stood out or felt memorable for the price point. Each dish was enjoyable, but for a higher-end restaurant, I was hoping for flavors or creativity that would really wow me. Overall, it's a lovely place for the vibes and a polished dining experience, but I'm not fully convinced the food justifies the higher price tag.

This restaurant felt like it tries for a very specific, high-profile vibe, and I personally prefer a bit more cozy and relaxed. The tree in the center of the room is pretty and dramatic. The food was good but overpriced. We tried many dishes and most were over seasoned, especially the green beans. The raw oysters were delicious and the scallops too. The service was great and they accoomodated dietary restrictions. I'm glad we gave it a shot.

Recently went with a large group & had a lovely time. The restaurant was busy but not overly loud. We had a large table with bench seating in one side facing the tree, a beautiful setting for our dinner. Pretty much everything our server recommended was delicious! Started with spicy edamame, Chef's choice sashimi & nigiri, and then the heirloom salad, all so fresh & flavorful. We also had the tuna & steak tartare, I usually don't go for steak tartare but this was fantastic & I'm glad I tried it! Loved the tiny milk bread toasts it was served with. Our server talked up the waygu fried rice, for me it was just so so. But the waygu gyoza was absolutely fire! The sleeper hit was the fried green beans, could have had just that dish & been perfectly happy! Brussel sprouts were great as well. For mains we did the branzino, the skin was crispy & paired well with the creamy sauce. My top 2 dishes were def the hamachi crispy rice, and the smoked waygu short rib. Those alone are worth going back for! We ended the evening with a couple orders of the bingsu, very pretty but not my cup of tea. Looking forward to going back & trying the matcha tiramisu.

Amazing Japanese Korean spot with a variety of high end offerings including sushi, caviar, and Wagyu. Had the crudo, bulgogi japchae (potato glass noodles - my favorite), sushi, salmon tacos with ikura, an amazing mushroom and fried rice dish. Good cocktails and a nice selection of wine!

Great vibes... Great service... My server was Connor and he did a good job.. I had the miso soup, Bronzino, boneless chicken, which was like Korean fried chicken, miso cod... Food was good, small plates, shareable. Everything came out hot, fresh, and tasty.. Last reservation was at 9pm... We got seated right away.. Great spot!!!

    Evergreen, was delicious.

We came for a birthday, group of 10. When I arrived, 5/10 of the group was already there. My being the 6th, they had my friends waiting at the bar and wouldn't seat us until everyone arrived. Even though our table was ready and available for our group to sit. After another 10 minutes of waiting they advised we could sit, there were now 7/10 for the group. Service was ok. I had about 1/3 of my drink left and a waiter came a grabbed it off the table while asking if I was done. You wait till the customer responds before you put your hands on their item. No, I wasn't done with 1/3 of my drink left. Food was ok, overpriced in my opinion. Ambiance is nice with a beautiful tree in the center. No menus, they have business cards on the table that you scan with your phone to view the menu. Street parking was difficult so we parked in a nearby garage.

Janken is absolutely lovely. The ambiance is beautiful with warm, welcoming lighting and the 15-foot-tall cherry blossom tree. The servers were all so sweet. And of course, the food was to die for.

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

One of the best parts was how approachable the bartenders were. We asked for custom drinks based on our preferences, and both came out perfectly tailored. Creative without being weird, and strong without being sloppy. What really stood out was the price point. For the quality of cocktails, the prices felt very reasonable compared to similar craft cocktail bars in other cities. The vibe was also great -- relaxed, cozy, and not pretentious. It felt like a place where you could come for a special drink experience without feeling like you had to "perform" or order off a rigid menu. We liked it so much we actually came back a second time during our trip. Highly recommend if you're into well-crafted cocktails, friendly bartenders, and a laid-back but elevated atmosphere.
