Wow. I ordered take out from here for the first time ever tonight around 9PM. The food was food. Not a great chicken burrito, not great rice, or chips. It was pretty weak. The reason why it got two stars is because it is now 2AM in the morning and I cannot sleep. I feel so bloated and I'm belching every 10 minutes. Uggh. When I ordered my food they said it would be 15 minutes. I got there 3 minutes later and the food was already ready... In retrospect, I guess that's a bad sign. I will not eat there again mostly because I don't want to feel this crappy. I wish I had just gone with a fast food burger. I would have felt better. read more

Went with my sisters today, server was very attentive the whole time. Food was pretty good (I got the Menudo my sister got the Caldo se Res since it was a cold day and good for soup) My sister has a 2 month old baby and we had her in her car seat, they accommodated us well. We did get sat in front of the door so every time someone came in or went out we would get a cold breeze, but it wasn't too bad. It was very crowded with all the tables around. Good Food , "BAD PICK UP SERVICE". A few days ago it was my second time picking up some food and I had to go inside "AGAIN" to get my own food because no body came to my car. The restaurant was not busy at all but the lady and the cashier guy were having a lot of fun laughing and looking at their phones. First I love the staff, the food and the atmosphere! The other night, I was sitting at the bar with my girlfriends and a guy sitting next to us would not leave us alone and started arguing with us when we told him to leave us alone. My Granny is 90 years old and every 2 weeks this has been our spot for over 8 years! Lilly is always so welcoming and the food is the best hole in the wall Mexican food you'll find around. I get the pulled chicken Chile relleno and always take home leftovers and am full from the dish after 2 big meals. My granny is quite the critic in her old age, and she loves the tortilla soup and we always dig in on the queso. They just had a huge makeover in their dining room and I love that they've invested in their space. Shows the care and love of the place which shows most of all in their food. read more

Great Mexican food!! We came here for dinner on a weekday and sat outside. Our waiter was really nice and made sure that we had everything that we needed. As soon as we sat down, they brought us chips and salsa. The drinks were really good! Definitely will recommend the piña colada! We ordered hard shell tacos with rice and beans. In addition to the complimentary salsa, we ordered queso. I wasn't a huge fan of the tacos as it was plain and nothing was outstanding. However, the queso and rice were really good though! I absolutely love this place and have been going here for years. My issue is that I have had several issues with them trying to order through DoorDash. They were not on DoorDash for the longest time which was disappointing. Then I saw they were so I ordered right away since I love their food so much. The order was immediately cancel which I thought was just a fluke. I reordered and the driver got all the way over there only to be told they don't take DoorDash so how did the order go through if they don't take it? They have been on and off the DoorDash site a few times and every time the order cancelled, it happened today. If you're not going to accept DoorDash then take it off of the site, it's false advertising . However, they need to catch up with the times and understand that food delivery is now the norm and they are missing out on huge profits. read more

The food was delicious besides the velveeta cheese queso. The tacos were flavorful and perfectly seasoned, guacamole was fresh as could be, and the food came out within 10 minutes of order. Now let's get to the service. We sat and waited on a waiter for about 15 minutes without drinks, menus, or silverware. I had to get up and grab my own menus & silverware. After another 5 or so minutes, another table sat down next to us and got waited before us. When the waiter was done taking the drink order for the table next to us, he came over to our table and just stared at me blankly with no words to say. I began the conversation by saying hello. Point of the story, my boyfriend waited 15 minutes to get a refill, and ended up eating his meal with no drink. I had to get up to find out waiter to get us refills. Not impressed. It took 45 minutes to get food, and then the food was an absolute disgrace. Nasty brown fish and boxed rice. Our waiter encouraged us to tell the manager about our experience. Instead, the head waiter comes over and gets confrontational with my husband. Posturing like he was actually going to fight him. If you live in the Anderson Mill area, you've surely been to Jardin. It is a favorite spot of my mom's group of mom friends (and thus us children) for their Mexican Martinis. The bartenders and servers are lifers and will always remember you, which is always a pleasant experience. As a local tex mex spot, you'll find all your standard dishes and all are pretty good. The queso comes in a ton of varieties, which allows every cheese lover such as myself to really go wild. Prices are reasonable and food comes out quickly. My favorite thing about Jardin is the margaritas, which can be ordered in about 10 different flavors, on the rocks or frozen. They come in small (normal) or large (way too jumbo, but what you should get) for a shockingly low price. Parking is a nightmare. Located in a strip mall with a gas station, a dive bar, and a few shops, Jardin just didn't stand a chance. We have always found it much easier to park far away and walk, or even hop the curb where permitted. read more

We been a consistent customer of there's for the past 3 years, at least 1 once a week and when we order it's always 3 or 4 different orders to go. I'm a manager at a shop so we get together and order at once. I always put the order in over the phone. Food always been great, the last time my order was messed up I called spoke with someone said he'd give us credit that was a week ago. Today I called in and the guy over the phone made me feel like I was scamming them for a free plate. Never been so disrespected in my life. This place for sure has lost my business. So, I ordered through Uber eats and never received my order. I called and spoke to the manager Manuel and was told the order had been picked up. I explained to him that I have not received the order and because he is dating his hostess Dulce she convinced him that I did not need to get my order. I stopped going to Jardin Corona about a year ago. Jardin had been my go-to Mexican place in the Mexican food desert that is NW Austin for a couple of years before that, but I just got increasingly tired of it. For one, the service is *always* bad. I can only recall having a good experience with a server there once. The rest of the times, the service was slow, disinterested, and rushed. I don't usually include notes about service in my reviews, unless it's excellent, but the service is a big reason I stopped coming here. For two, the food quality is not that awesome. There are a couple of good things there - the chips and salsa. I had a tasty spinach quesadilla once, and a chalupa that was good. But the staples - enchiladas, rice, beans - are really average at best. I've had more satisfying food at Taco Cabana to be honest. The margaritas are also nothing special unfortunately. They taste like they're made with a mix that you can get anywhere. Lastly, the icing on the cake is the cleanliness of the place. I always felt like the tables were sticky, the booths were dirty, and the bathrooms smelled funky. I couldn't overlook it anymore at a certain point. I would avoid this place and choose Vasquez Restaurant if you're in the area. Jardin is just not worth the money. read more

Jardin Corona is a staple in this area and one I frequent whenever I come back home to Austin. To get the true experience first thing to order is a beerita, they have the best margaritas and why not top it off with a Dos Equis. I highly recommend getting one with the tuna (prickly pear) swirl. Then you can begin to choose one of the many items in the extensive menu. The fajita a Mexicana plate for two was massive and they weren't stingy on the peppers. The chimichanga is one of my favorite go to's as well as their taco bowl. It's a popular joint so don't be surprised if it's packed for dinner during a Friday or Saturday night. Chips and salsa served when you sit down. The fish tacos were ok but a little over- cooked and dry. Full bar. Indoor and outdoor seating. Our poor waitress was over-worked and moving as fast as she could. She had a full section and then was given our table of 15. And, even after our table was sat, the person seating people (host? manager?) kept putting people in her section without giving her help. Out of town family came for Christmas and we wanted to take them out for dinner--to get a taste of Austin. After asking for recommendations from local friends and family, Jardin Corona was named the winner. Point #1. Reservations can only be made the day-of. I called early in the week--knowing it was the holidays and we had a large party--and they wouldn't take the request until several hours before we wanted to arrive. I wound up calling around 1:00 for a 6:45 reservation. Point #2. This location is really quite small. I'd only been once before to visit some friends who were finishing a meal, but it was dark inside on that trip so I didn't have a good idea of what the restaurant was actually like. Point #3. It was crazy busy. We showed up close to 6:45 the Thursday before Christmas and could hardly find room to park. Once we got inside, it was still a tight fit as people were standing around waiting to be seated. #2 combined with #3 meant we had to wait 15 to 20 minutes beyond our reserved time for a table to open up. Point #4. Service/staff were wonderful. The path between the kitchen and the dining room went straight through the lobby/bar/waiting area, so we got a great show of the waiters hurrying back and forth. No one could have accused that group of folks of being lazy! Food for our group of 7 arrived 15 minutes after we ordered. Our particular waiter was attentive without being overbearing. Something I highly appreciate! Point #5. The food was regrettably disappointing. I was one of three in our party to order the Enchiladas Blancas with chicken. Everything was surprisingly lukewarm and bland. One of the things I love about tex-mex enchiladas are the soggy flour tortillas (who's with me?), and these were most decidedly not that. I'm also not even sure if they had cheese in them... I let my brother have my leftovers later that evening. Another member of our party got the Chimichanga with ground beef and was also disappointed. Point #6. They brought us complimentary queso because of the wait! Unfortunately, I took one bite and didn't want any more. It was pretty bad. The salsa was good, though, and I don't usually like salsa! Overall, I would give this place two stars, but with the great service, I had to bump it up to three. Sorry, JC. Native Austinite here. We have plenty of great Tex-Mex here. This INS'T it. I don't come to write reviews often, but after eating beans and rice for dinner because my meal was TERRIBLE, here I am.. I had been here once before - a couple of months ago. I wasn't a fan of the chicken fajita meat, but it wasn't THAT bad. This time around I came more prepared after actually reading reviews. Let me say - whoever said these are among the best chicken flautas aroud is dead WRONG. Here we go.... The flautas LOOKED delicious. 2 of them, large and not too skinny. Upon the first bite I was welcomed with an old. yucky, familiar taste -- not just dark meat, but dark meet that had been boiled. And it tasted gross. Flautas should have shredded white meat chicken only, This was not shredded, it may have had some white but was a mix at least -- I couldn't really make out if there was white meat due to the color of it. I broke it apart in many places and saw boiled brownish chicken that wasn't even chopped up. The flavor was disgusting and I did not eat any more after the first bite. The Queso ---WHOA we gotta talk about this here. I am NOT a guy to turn down queso. But this was yellow gooey garbage. I LOVE queso, and I can eat just about any I've tried. So, this again LOOKED great and was a big portion for a small queso. And the first taste was ok, good consistency, warm. But something was amiss. Second bite - I notice it tastes a little milky, and kinda like sliced processed yellow cheese (I normally have Kraft on my sandwiches and it kinda tasted like a melted version of that. I did not like the milky taste, and to be honest I'm not sure if they aren't using imitation cheese here. This cheese was kinda gross. I would not eat it, and that says A LOT. Taco Bell has better queso and quite frankly gas stations are probably on par with this hot garbage -- in fact, any time I've been at an event with food trailers and such with bassic nachos - the cheese sauce is always better than this. Something is WRONG with this queso. Ok so, I got no tortillas with the meal, so couldn't even make little tacos with my rice and beans, which were OK at best. I didn't come here to criticize the rice and beans, but for the record the rice was not bad, except clumped together a bunch, and the beans tasted fine but the consistency was of the whipped up nature, and not really mixed so well. Whatever. The rice was the best thing I ate, besides the salsa.... Yes, the red salsa was good. Kudos! Oh - want to talk about the Crispy beef tacos that my friend got... She had me take first bite - I joked that she was making me the guinea pig, but then it kinda turns out I was. The tacos were completely unexciting and flavorless. I don't know if the beef had any seasoning at all, and my friend said the same. Oh -- and they used some real low quality thick shredded cheddar? cheese that you know, wouldn't melt under a heat lamp I'm sure. If you couldn't tell, I won't be going back. My friend equated this to being on par with Taco Cabana, but to be honest, No - the cabana walks all over this slop. This food was gross. They don't know what they are doing. I've been on a quest to find the best tortilla soup in Austin and stumbled upon a serious contender in Round Rock while watching the super bowl. Or should I say SOUPER Bowl because what came out of the kitchen was a super bowl of tortilla soup. The discussion at our table centered around the game, Drew Brees, a Facebook virus and Betty White intermingled with soup slurping sounds. Gal Friend: When I was at Drew Brees' mother's funeral and he walked in with his wife I gasped out loud! Me: (Soup slurping noises) Gal Friend: And it was not for his looks it was for his wife. She is the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen. Me: (Slurp...) Guy Friend: So my computer is sending Facebook message to all my friends with a Viagra ad attachment. I think my work colleagues are going to enjoy that. Me: (Slurp...) Husband: If I was older and not married, I'd go for Betty White. She can play football and is not afraid to get down and dirty. Me: (Slurp...) My bowl contained portions of onions, celery and carrots cut into large pieces which tasted wonderful and gave this tortilla soup a certain chunkiness that I do not usually find. I detected a slight sweetness to the onions which made me think someone took great care to caramelize them in preparation for the soup broth. The soup serving is particularly hefty in size and comes with sides of crisp tortilla strips, pico de gallo, avocado slices, Monterrey jack cheese and rice, which I skipped. (It gets in the way of the good stuff.) The tender shredded chicken in the soup was generous and the broth had a slow cooked richness. Before dinner, I think we might have polished off 3 baskets of chips. You know the kind, warm, salty, and thin with a perfect crispness and slight coat of oil. We arrived and promptly sat - the environment was warm, full of people - ALIVE. I felt the universe was singing to me, telling me to enjoy the salsa and chips and order something tasty. To just, GO ON - REWARD myself! Enjoy what life has offered you today! I ate, finishing half of the dish I'd chosen. *cue record screech* Not long before leaving the restaraunt I suddenly had a massive migraine in the back of my head. Only one thing can cause such a severe and painful reaction so quickly in me. A nemesis that prohibits me from eating at many Chinese food restaurants and something I didn't expect to find here...no, not at this bastion of good eats I'd heard about from my coworkers. "MSG!" I cried, "MY ONLY WEAKNESS!" (aside from bullets) I spent the remainder of my work day drinking water and pounding Advil like they were going out of style. Yes, sadly, I am one of many allergic to MSG - and very familiar with it's effect on me. Maybe a little warning on the menu might keep one of the people that have fatal reactions to it from getting dead in your joint. That at least would have saved me a painful migraine. I realize I don't often agree with other people about restaurants, but were you people who gave this place good ratings stoned when you ate there? Did you lose your taste buds in some unfortunate accident? Maybe I went on an off night. Maybe it's just what I ordered. But the service stunk, too, so I can't give this waste of space more than one star. I wanted to go to A la Carrera, but they're closed today, so Google Maps led me to Jardin Corona. I went in with high hopes. The sign said to seat yourself, and a really friendly guy told me as much, so I copped a squat at a booth. I had chips, salsa and water in no time from said friendly guy, but I was ready to order in mere moments, yet my server was AWOL. Ten minutes later, here he finally comes. I ordered the Jardin Supreme Platter (one beef taco, one beef chalupa, two cheese enchiladas, guac, flat chile con queso, rice and beans). I had no idea what "flat" chile con queso meant, but I didn't sweat it. The chips and salsa were bland and tasteless. It's as if they were styled after Janet Reno. The salsa was watery and too reliant on cilantro, and the chips needed a lot more salt. Even after I salted the chips like an iced-over roadway, they still tasted pathetic. Next out came a scoop of guac atop shredded lettuce, and some queso atop a tostada shell. Say what? I understand the "flat" part of that description now, but this was just laughable. Most places will give you a ramekin or taco bowl filled with queso. This was a scant helping of Velveeta-Rotel queso grazed over the tostada shell. [see pic] And to *top* it off, the tostada shell was stale. The queso was bland, of course, so I tried to jazz it up with some lettuce. I know that sounds weird, but it helped. I couldn't eat the guac because I'm allergic to avocados, so don't gimme that look. Here comes the rest of my meal. I tried the taco first, and what a disappointment. Blandest taco meat I've ever eaten, I tell you. There was absolutely no spice in there at all. I think that's the theme here. They should advertise that way: "Are you boring and without sinus troubles? Jardin Corona serves Austin's *blandest* Tex-Mex. Stop in today!" I'd bet a lot of geriatrics would eat there. In fact, there were quite a few old white people in the restaurant when I was there. One old couple was awaiting family members for the old man's birthday party. I wondered if they'd eaten there before. I felt really badly for them, knowing what they were in for. Also, there were onions in the taco meat. Gross. I ate about half the taco and discarded the rest on my "flat" queso plate. Next up, the beef chalupa. I didn't realize "chalupa" and "tostada" are synonymous, but apparently they are. I knew what to expect in the taco meat, but I didn't let that stop me from trying to enjoy the tostada... ahem, chalupa. Problem was, the chile con carne from the enchiladas had enveloped the tostada/chalupa shell and thus made the shell bow, and most of the toppings fell off when I tried to pick it up. I took a couple of bites but was met with another stale shell, so I gave up on that and loaded it onto my discard plate. The rice had carrots in it. WTF? I don't think I've ever seen that before. I like carrots, but not when I'm eating Mexican food, so I ate around those. Meh. The refried beans were okay, but not great. They were actually the best things in the entire meal. The enchiladas... oh holy hell, these were bad. The cheese itself tasted fine ('cause how can you mess up cheese?), but something was really off about the dish in its entirety. I finally realized the cooks had used flour tortillas instead of corn. What kind of idiot uses flour tortillas for cheese enchiladas? It tasted awful! I had a few bites, but pushed my plate away in agony. I was so ready for the check. Unfortunately, I would have to wait another twenty minutes to get out of the tenth level of hell that is Jardin Corona. My server had gone MIA again. Why do servers always go missing when you want the check? Why? Do they not want your money? I was tempted to walk the check, but my conscience wouldn't let me. Ten minutes later he ambled by and I got his attention. He had the check ready to go. I didn't even look at it to make sure I was charged correctly; I just gave him my credit card. It somehow took him another ten minutes to run my credit card. Impatient? Yes, I was. I'm lucky I wasn't on a lunch break from work. I would definitely have been late getting back to my desk, even if I worked next door. I'd also like to say that this server didn't once check on me during my meal to see if the food tasted okay. I ran out of water early on, but I never got a refill. Not that I needed a refill, as nothing from the salsa to the nightmarish enchiladas had any oomph to them.
