I've had an excellent experience with Jarvis Appliance and can't recommend them highly enough. Two years in a row I've had an issue with my microwave shortly before Thanksgiving. Last year someone from the office personally drove a replacement part over to my home so the technician could complete a repair expeditiously. When I had this second issue this year, Jarvis recommended I contact the manufacturer, Bosch, to request complimentary replacement parts given the appliance was just out of warranty. To my surprise and delight, Bosch agreed to provide me with a new appliance. Unfortunately by the time it all got straightened out, Jarvis's installation schedule was all booked up through Thanksgiving. I have four children and rely heavily on my microwave day-to-day and having been without it already for several weeks, was stressed to think of preparing the holiday meal (and multiple leftover warmups) without it. They certainly didn't have to do it, but Jarvis called back later that same day to report that they found a way to squeeze me into the schedule and the owner of the company personally came around later that afternoon and got the new appliance installed and up and running (and I still made the school pickup line with time to spare)! That level of dedication to pleasing a customer isn't so common these days. I can't thank the company, especially Tom, Tim and Sarah, enough for going out of their way to make the install of our microwave happen before the holiday. I had a GE certified repairman out just before Thanksgiving last year for the same problem but all he did was turn the oven on and claim that a gas oven always varies in temperature by 10-15 degrees...WHAT??? I took his word for it that I'd have to bake at about 10 degrees hotter at times, so Thanksgiving dinner took two hours longer because of this crazy guessing game. When I broke the handle off the matching microwave I finally decided to call Jarvis. I received a phone call back the same day and spoke to Tony Jarvis who was just leaving a job and said he would come right over. He actually took parts of the oven out (GE guy didn't even bother doing this) and discovered that there was a problem with the heating element; replaced it; and put on my microwave handle (which I had ordered). All on the same day that I called. Now my oven actually bakes at the correct temperature and I don't have to claw open my microwave. He was very nice, wore his mask the whole visit, and he showed me what the problem was while he was fixing it. That's great service!! read more

We purchased an entire kitchen of appliances from Jarvis. Adam was extremely helpful in the decision making process. Knew what we wanted and did not try to sell us anything out of our price range. We had a problem with the refrigerator, 3 months after installed and luckily Jarvis has their own service department. It was an update from GE that warranted a repair, but it did not fix the problem. Jarvis tried 3 different times and then decided it needed to be replaced. Since the refrigerator was basically working, just not the water dispenser, I was fine with getting a replacement whenever available, however, Jarvis insisted on delivering it before Thanksgiving. Totally over and above. They were considerate and to some degree at the mercy of GE. I was totally impressed and in fact just purchased a new washer. Thanks Jarvis. Sue read more

I had an issue with the ice maker but the manufacturer website didn't have many answers. I spoke with the salesman and he put me through to the service department. They were able to accommodate my busy schedule and the service rep I spoke with was great. Scott came out and fixed the ice maker, and despite the store having to order a part, it was no cost to me. They really do service what they sell -- can't say that about other competitors! read more

In general, I prefer to buy from local merchants and believe they provide better service. As a result, when I needed a new microwave, I went to Jarvis--the closest appliance retailer to my new home. Unfortunately, all the things I value about local business do not apply at Jarvis: they are rude, arrogant and have absolutely terrible (and never disclosed) policies for returns. When I installed my new microwave, I noticed that the start button was a little soft. Shortly after, the trim began to fall off and the machine began making a rattling sounds. When I called Jarvis to inquire about a return/exchange (27 days after my purchase, 24 days after receiving the microwave), I was first directed to service who, after answering the phone after 40+ rings, sent me to speak to sales. When I told them I wanted to talk about an exchange, I was told they would only service the machine and under no circumstance would they accept a return on a "major" appliance (which they define as anything over $100). When I asked if the service call would be free, he said he would not commit to that. When I said this did not seem aligned with their promise of better service than a big box (because Best Buy would take a return vs. putting me through the hassle of repairing a machine that had issues from the word go), he said this was their policy and Best Buy's policy was irrelevant. He went on to say that "We'll still be here in 40 years and they won't. Circuit City is gone, Sears is on the way out and Best Buy is next." He then transferred me to service where I was told the earliest call is a week out. Clearly their strategy for longevity is arrogance: no need to stand behind their products, provide service levels at par or better than others or even be respectful to their customers. My advice for anyone shopping for appliances: go elsewhere. Literally anywhere else would be better than this place. There are many other options with better prices and far better service. read more

I ordered a refrigerator recently from Jarvis and was very pleased. Actually I never set foot in the store. Everything was done with Paul over the phone. He found exactly what I was looking for and even though I didn't order it for several months, he still had all the information and got it all right. The price was excellent, better than what I had found online. The delivery crew (Obie and his partner) were amazing. They moved the old frig to the basement, set up the new one, made sure everything was functioning properly, all in record breaking time--and the appointment was right on schedule. My daughter just ordered all her kitchen appliances from Jarvis for her new kitchen and was very pleased as well. Everything was delivered on time, with no problems whatsoever. Perhaps we were both just lucky--but I would certainly recommend Jarvis to anyone. read more

This is my first-ever Yelp review, prompted by an unsettling experience. Our dishwasher crapped out after only 4 years. I let me husband shop for the new one because I'd picked out the junk. Jarvis is very convenient, and we believe in supporting local stores. He decided on a Bosch dw. The model was not yet in, but Ashley told him it would arrive in about two weeks. Figuring it was worth waiting to get the right appliance, we said okay. I called them after two weeks, the dw was not in yet, no idea when it would be in. I called again after three weeks, still no idea when it would be in. I pushed a little bit, and Ashley offered to call Bosch to ask if the older model was still available (husband says she initially told him it was not available). She called me the next day to say yes, it was available did I want it. I said I guess so, what will it cost? She checked, said it would be $100 MORE than the new model. And she warmed me that since they haven't gotten the new models in yet, all the models on the floor are higher end than the one we wanted...which was not high end, but not bottom of the line, either. We're going elsewhere. I'm just too unsettled by this experience. It wasn't flat-out awful, but no one picked up the phone on their end, either. read more

I purchased an Electrolux washer from Jarvis. Shortly after I got it the unit failed. I called Electrolux to get it repaired. Well the repair only lasted a few months. When I called Electrolux again (still under warranty) they were less than helpful. I emailed Jarvis and within 15 minutes got a call from the owner saying that he would take care of my problem and deal with Electrolux for me. The personal service is exactly what I was looking for when I went to Jarvis in the first place. I have subsequently purchased other appliances from Jarvis and have always had a great experience. That phone call from the owner turned what could have been a 1 star purchasing experience into a 5 star one and will keep me coming back for years. read more

Jarvis repaired my washing machine today. The repairman was prompt, courteous, professional and extremely competent. He changed a broken latch mechanism very quickly, and kept a clean workspace. While they charge a hefty hourly rate, they work extremely fast, and they do not waste time reading manuals. He knew exactly what needed to be done. I would call them again and recommend them highly. I purchased a new Electrolux refrigerator from Jarvis in January 2015. The unit has not functioned properly from day 1, and after 6+ service calls and 5 months of back and forth they are unwilling to take the unit back and refund our money. It does not seem fair (or legal, for that matter) to sell defective merchandise and offer no recourse through either replacement or return. I will not use Jarvis in the future and recommend you avoid Jarvis as well. read more

We recently had a new addition put on our home and had to buy all new appliances for our kitchen. My husband had good experience with Jarvis when he purchased a Bosch double oven a few yrs. ago, so we went back to Jarvis. The sales person Jim Roach was really helpful in answering our questions, not just when we were in the store, but also via email and phone calls. And, when there was a delay in Wolf's production of the induction cooktops we wanted, Jim deligently followed up with Wolf to make sure the induction cooktop could be delivered in time to meet our construction schedule. We just purchased a wall oven from Jarvis and inadvertently no one told us about an installation charge until it was almost installed. At that moment I was very upset and was going to blast the company but I always feel you should talk to the owner or someone with authority. I tried to reach the owner, Mr. Jarvis (yes there is a Mr. Jarvis) and when he was not in I sent him an email. Within an hour he called me an the issue was totally resolved. It is good to see a company with such high ethics, who took a bad situation and made it a good situation. Would recommend doing business with them read more

I have several appliances from here and have had nothing but great experiences with their technicians. They are always willing to go the extra mile and help. Trying to get the technician to my house is another story. Ashley who works the phone is unbelievably rude and I have had to call several times to even get the phone answered, let alone schedule a service call. And if you do manage to get a coveted appointment, double check the correct part was ordered since many times the office orders the wrong part. read more

We had a really wonderful experience working with Jarvis. We purchased all of the appliances for a kitchen renovation from them. Our salesperson, Adam, was extremely knowledgable, gave us great advice, and was really helpful to us in making all our choices. Arranging delivery went really smoothly, and when my contractor misplaced the kit for installing the dishwasher door, Jarvis was able to get me a replacement that same day! The store owner, Tony, took my review seriously and didn't realize we were having so many issues. He checked all three appliances on 2 separate visits. The oven has a preheat button. It also preheats when you set the convection oven. I called the Electrolux help line and they were not able to explain what the separate preheat button was for. Tony figured out that the preheat button was actually heating the cavity of the oven and not just the air like with convection oven preheat so cakes were falling flat and pizza dough never rose. Now their sales folks know to let folks know they must use that function and wait 15-20min AFTER the preheat beep, which is just telling you the air and not the cavity to preheated. Apparently that it true of all newer oven models. Who knew? After a lot of time, Tony thinks the convection oven not heating up was due to a half tripped circuit breaker and I think he's right. The repair person who told me the microwave can't get up past 300 was incorrect. Tony used an internal thermometer timer and after solving the circuit breaker puzzle, it worked. The dishwasher: Tony had a quick look and found a seed or a pit that might have been making the noise and messing with the pump. The plastic teeth that hold silverware in that top rack were breaking off, that might also have influenced it. Still waiting for Electrolux to get me a new pump now several weeks later. In the meantime, Tony said he could replace the top rack that is breaking. So some of this could just have been bad luck--although this doesn't change that the dishwasher needed new rubber insulation as soon as it was installed, the microwave door fell off and Electrolux recognized that as a design flaw and replaced it and it is loose again and their customer service staff were unhelpful, so I am definitely not an Electrolux fan--but Tony really went above and beyond to get these appliances working. I do think Jarvis should consider no longer selling these products, but am very grateful to Tony for all his time and patience. He was always respectful, never defensive, treated each problem as a puzzle to be solved, and moved quickly to get this resolved. read more

Jarvis Appliance will make thing right by you! Last summer my mother and I went to Jarvis Appliance and ordered Jenn Air appliances for two kitchens. We left a hefty deposit and tentatively set up delivery for late August/early September. Permit snafus set our project back considerably (surprise!) and our delivery dates were changed many times. The first kitchen arrived in late October and our cabinet maker had some issues securing templates. There were some miscommunications with the second delivery in April. I wrote a letter voicing my concerns and have been pleasantly surprised with the attention and service I have received. Tony Jarvis called me immediately, apologized profusely, offered to come to the job site, asked what he could do to make things right, and COMPED ME MY TRASH COMPACTOR!!! Now that's what I call service! Family owned business, personal attention, customer satisfaction was their main focus, strongly recommend. read more

One year of frustration, non-returned phone calls, repair no-shows, and I still have a Kitchenaid appliance that is dead and worked for only 2 weeks of the last year. I did business with Jarvis for over 30 years, but they are no longer the same company - and especially not the same service. Years ago when we remodeled our house I bought all new appliances from Jarvis and were happy with both the service and the toys. More recent experience with service and new purchases has been much worse. Most recently I purchased a Jenn-Air Induction range. i love the range but the sales experience was a turn-off. The salesman's claim that i qualified for a $1000 rebate turned out to be an offer for a $100 rebate on installation and, as it happens, the Jarvis receipt did not even show the installation charges so Jenn-Air disqualified it. Two years ago I requested service on my washing machine i was told I should just replace it -- luckily my husband was able to fix it with a part ordered over the internet. I have been thinking of Jarvis as an old-fashioned 'we care about our customers' business -- but now I think I will just do my shopping on line so I can get a good price. When we remodeled our kitchen way back in 1997, we bought all our new appliances from Jarvis. I actually never have called them for service until just a week or so ago, when a chronic problem with my stove finally became untenable. Someone at Jarvis found my records and identified my stove. I explained that there was a problem programming my stove, and the LCD screen was dim to completely blank. We scheduled a visit. When the service technician arrived, he came into my kitchen and sees my double wall ovens. "Antiques!" he declares, and then chortles. He goes over to my stove and fiddles with the knobs, verifying what I had told them in my phone call was true. Then he charges me $80. I ask him if that goes towards fixing the problem, and he tells me I will be paying additionally for parts and labor. Less than 5 minutes after he arrives he's out the door. The next day I get a call from Jarvis. My double wall oven is obsolete and they no longer make replacements for my problem. Ergo, they can't fix my oven. So, I got to thinking. They knew what kind of oven I had, and how old it was. And I had been pretty specific with my problem, so one would think they would recognize it required a specific part. Why did it require $80 and someone to come out, fiddle with the knobs after remarking snidely about their age, and then leave? read more

We purchased all our kitchen and laundry appliances from Jarvis for our house remodel. In all our years of home ownership, we have never experienced better advice and service. From Amberly in sales, to Marcia who oversees warrantees, to Frank who runs the service department, to John who serviced some of the appliances, we were treated royally. Their customer service is unsurpassed by anyone we have ever dealt with. Jarvis is professional and really cares about customer satisfaction. Their prices are very competitive. They are completely reliable. We ordered all our appliances at once to take advantage of rebates, but they were not installed for several months. They worked with us to begin the warrantees upon actual installation. In addition, there was a manufacturer's defect in our cooktop. Marcia came to our house to inspect the problem and worked with the Kitchenaid representative to replace it. It was backordered, yet Marcia assured us she would follow up. This she did to an amazing degree, calling us many times to keep us posted. Her level of care was extraordinary. Frank made sure we were taken care of in a timely fashion when we needed replacement parts for a noisy microwave oven and scheduling service promptly. John installed our cooktop and addressed our many questions about other appliances. When we were experiencing trouble with our dryer, he determined that the vent was blocked with lint because our contractor put a grate in it which collected lint. He leaned out a second story window to pull the grate out! He then instructed us with proper use of our new appliances. These folks have gone above and beyond the call of duty. We would never consider buying appliances from anyone but Jarvis. As a family owned company, they know how important it is to put their customers first. read more

We LOVE Jarvis Appliance. After an horrific experience with Sears in Dedham, MA we decided to shop locally. It was and continues to be the best decision we've ever made. We have bought 7 appliances from them since last winter and the experience has been wonderful. We returned to the store on May 4th to learn our fantastic salesman Jim had retired! Oh no we thought. But Adam saved the day and is now our salesman and he is wonderful. Very knowledgeable, easy to talk to and he remained patient with us as we asked a million questions. Though we are sad to see Jim go, we are delighted to be working with Adam, who has a great sense of humor, I might add. Anyway ... all 7 appliances were delivered when they said they were going to be delivered. Our new friend Obe delivered all of them and he is amazing too! Jarvis has some great people working for them and we could not be happier! Incredible service, fabulous appliances, great sales people and delivery pretty much when you want/need it.
