Popped in on a Sat night without a reservation and were seated at a table in the bar. Very nice marble bar by the way. Decor was clean and bright. Ibwas happy to see a full dining room as this restaurant is in a stand alone location near Santa Clara University. The avocado tikki was nicely cooked breaded lightly, accompanied by a cilantro+mint chutney which gave the food a nice bright pop of flavor. Next came the goat chops, very tender and medium spicy. A nice portion for an appetizer and good price at $20. Presented very nicely doused with whiskey and set on fire. Very tender too. The mutton tacos were my favorite, they had a nice smoky flavor and the accompanying pear chutney was a nice touch with some sweetness to it. I wasn't sure if I was going love the thelpa tortillas (tortillas spiced with fenugreek, tumeric, cumin, coriander bit it went really well with the meat. Finally, the vada bao buns were huge, light and fluffy. It took a minute to get to the poato filling and I would gave preferred a little more filling to get the full flavor. The yogurt chutney that came with it was really delicious and different. It also came with a sweet tamarind chutney and green chutney. Everything we ordered was on the small plate menu and we were full after 4 plates. The prices were reasonable and I appreciated the large variety of small plates so we could try a few different items. All in all, this is a good addition to the south bay elevated Indian cuisine scene. read more

Nice ambience and really attentive service. Vegetarians have a good choice in terms variety, just not the usual dal and panneer. Since they have the Jalsa name behind them , they have themselves to compete against. This visit was with a bunch of friends to celebrate a birthday. The location is an offbeat place and parking is easy but prices are upscale. It's definitely a place to go for the special occasion. Since we were 6 we doubled the portions instead of ordering one of each dish. Maybe next time we'll try the non veg dishes. The aloo Nazakara and Kakori were different and good. It has the texture of a kakori kabab. Any restaurant can be tested for their worth with the dal. It was yellow dal definitely good. The shisito pepper dish was also good and comes with a lot of gravy. Most plates can be shared by two. The rose kulfi is also an experience by itself. Overall a good experience but if you think the bullet naan will fire you like a bullet, one maybe a little disappointed. read more

The service and ambience were quite nice. The tables were spaced out pretty decently to enjoy have your own conversations with your group. The food, however was disappointing. Most of the items lacked any memorable flavor and were just mediocre. For the pricing, I would have liked atleast a few items to stand out but other than the three roots chaat, everything else fell flat. The thecha mutton balls were just dry and the poha crust overpowered any flavor of the meat. The paneer trilogy was good. I will change my star to 1 star now. Their food has been really really bad. I and my husband suffering from bad upset stomach. Also, I read many reviews stating that their quality is going down and they have been replying that "they will make sure to check with the kitchen." Seems like you have not been doing that. This is in response to the business owner reply on my previous review. If you were not present there, you have been blatantly lied to, we spoke to 2 people only, abt the dish. With the server, there was no issue. He asked us politely if he can share our review with his senior and we said yes. We never asked to see the manager or take it off our bill. It was only a feedback given in good faith. Thereafter we were approached by a suited manager who just came with the intention to fight. If we were the rude ones, why did he make a personal comment on my husbands shirt? And why would be rude on our third visit if we were not even trying to get any monetary benefit. Awesome addition to South Bay! We had a fantastic time. Can't wait to come back. Loved all the food we tried - Dahi kebab, grilled chicken and the mains: white butter chicken (kind of like a cashew buttery chicken gravy with cream and just heavenly tasting!), chicken biryani and raita. For the dessert we tried the pistachio concept dish, it was quite interesting. The mocktails and cocktails were nice too. The service is top notch. They are super nice and accommodate all your requests in seating, food, etc. The ambiance is quite upscale and beautiful. Restrooms are well maintained and very clean. Overall this place is a great new spot. Highly recommend it for trying out Indian fusion/upscale food which is totally different from others in the same category. Hands down, the best Donne Biryani I've had outside India -- absolute perfection. I'm originally from Bangalore, and I've tried Donne Biryani at countless places both in India and across the US. Until now, no restaurant in the US has come close to nailing the authenticity. Jashn truly got it right. From the flavor and spice balance to the presentation in the traditional donne (leaf) -- everything felt genuinely authentic. One bite and it instantly took me back home. Absolutely terrible experience. Before driving over, we specifically called to ask whether reservations were required because it was Father's Day. On phone, they told us that reservations were not necessary and that we could simply walk in. So that's exactly what we did. When we arrived at 6:45 PM, they asked us to wait for a few minutes, which was perfectly reasonable. Then a manager (or host) came over at around 7.05 and, with an unbelievably arrogant attitude, informed us that he could give us a table only if we agreed to vacate it by 8:00 PM. Let that sink in. We were told reservations weren't needed, we showed up based on that information, and then were essentially told, "You can sit down, but we need you out in 55 minutes." I understand restaurants have scheduling constraints, especially on busy holidays. What I don't understand is the complete lack of hospitality and basic customer service. There are countless ways this situation could have been handled professionally. He could have explained that reserved parties were arriving later, apologized for the confusion, or simply asked us to wait while they worked on seating. Instead, the message came across as, "Take it or leave it." For a restaurant that claims to provide a quality dining experience, the attitude was shocking. We were there to celebrate Father's Day, not to watch the clock and worry about being rushed out the door. The interaction was so rude and unwelcoming that we chose to leave rather than spend our evening feeling like an inconvenience. One bad interaction can lose a customer. Dined in for a celebratory dinner at @jashnrestaurant2025. We started with the ragda golgappa, crispy rice broccoli and Vada bao. All presented so beautifully. The bao was placed in a steamed basket as you can see from the video and beautifully crafted. As for our main entrée items we got the kofta curry, kaali dal and veg biryani. We paired the curries with the chur chur naan and paratha. Overall, the food was really good just a tad on the spicy side which I can't fault them for as it's an Indian restaurant. I didn't love the naan because of over seasonings. For dessert, they surprised us with a small cake and we also ordered the rose kulfi experience which is ice cream made table side. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:30 PM. Before coming, we called to ask whether a reservation was required, and we were told that reservations were not necessary since the restaurant accepts walk-ins. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. The staff mainly the tall Indian guy was unfriendly and unprofessional from the moment we arrived. We were initially asked to sit and wait for a few minutes, but shortly afterward, a staff member informed us that we would need to leave our table by 8:00 PM. While this may have been due to their scheduling policies, the way it was communicated felt rude and unwelcoming. As customers, we expect to be treated with courtesy and respect. The overall service left us feeling rushed and uncomfortable rather than valued as guests. Because of the poor customer service and the staff's attitude, I would not recommend this restaurant to others. read more

Garlic naan which is so basic didn't have garlic flavor. The bao was stuck to the paper, had no real flavor except the chutneys. They could use smaller serving bowls for chutney rather than big ones filled so little making it harder to eat. The ambience is good. And so is the menu. We have been ordering catering from Jalsa for years and have always been very very happy with the food, so we decided to eat at their restaurant for our anniversary We ordered a biryani after some appetizers and it was very spicy and not edible. Most of it sat on our table, uneaten. The waiter and apparently the main suited-up manager walked by and offered the fake "Hope you're enjoying your dinner" comment when I told them the food is spicy and we are unable to eat - the reaction should have been to offer us something else and take it away. Ideally at no cost but at least try to offer the menu or an alternate suggestion. Instead, they just said oh it must be spicy today but this is how it usually is. We know spicy food and this was not edible. The desert we wanted was unavailable too and it was only 730pm so not too late to have run out. When they brought us our check a second opportunity might have been to remove a lower priced appetiser as most good establishments do, but neither could they bring themselves to do that. Instead the manager said let me give you two Togo boxes as u have so much Biryani and it won't fit in our small doggie bag box ( yes sir! Did u hear we complained how spicy it was and that's why we have th entire portion sitting there ). we left the place still wanting more food and had to eat elsewhere. Not sure what the hype is about, but let me start by saying that I don't usually go to review stores, unless they are on the extreme ends. This was an extremely poor experience I personally had. Food: Below average taste for all things that we tried. Presentation was decent, but the taste was mehh.. Tried following items: Chaat, Mushroom Gelauti, Dumpling Trio, Vada Bao, Paneer curry, Chicken curry, paratha, Pista Dessert, and biscoff & chocolate dessert. Everything was sub par, and nothing had proper balance of taste or texture. The chicken curry was simply watered down tasteless gravy with chicken pieces that still had skin on it. The paratha were like crispy wafers, not sure why they made it that way, but let me move on now. Service: There was a single lady managing more than 7 tables, and a single guy bringing food to 7-8 tables. The staff was good, but management seems to be trying to Save bucks and not hiring enough people. 0 to the management but brownie points to the staff. The staff doesn't know much about the menu, or the offerings. I'll assume that its because the process is poor. Ambience: Tables stacked right alongside each other where you could literally hear everyone and its chaotic. No room to breathe. Tiny tables, and not even enough room to put your order there, and the staff wouldn't even consider keeping the order somewhere and serving when needed. Cost: they seem to be on the above average side in terms of price, but it isn't justified by the experience they provide. My wife and I took off without even having the main course because it was pathetic and tasteless. We should've understood by then that the dessert wouldn't be any better, but weren't wise enough and learned the hard way. I think there are many alternatives to good contemporary Indian food in bay area, and I would surely stick to those. A constructive note: I think you need to improve taste, service, ambience, and train the staff around your offering and experience rather than just trying to cram people into tiny slots to maximise revenue. read more

Taste was ok) and Phaldari Akhrot Kakori (the kebabs were falling apart, we could taste the akhrot but was a bit spicy) Both were pretty average. Main course Baked paneer parche (paneer itself was excellent. Gravy was not very flavorful) Shishito pepper corn kofta (lemongrass flavor is evident. Kofta were flavorful) Chur chur naan Cheesy kulcha Butter naan We felt the pricing was acceptable considering the location, space, ambience. The restaurant is trying to get into the fine dining space but they need to focus more on that food instead of presentation of the food. Walked out of this place just now, and I honestly don't know why they even bother taking reservations. We booked almost three weeks in advance, showed up on time, and the moment we walked in it was clear they had no idea what they were doing. The staff at the front looked completely overwhelmed, and the woman checking people in couldn't be bothered to show even the most basic courtesy. Not a greeting, not a smile--nothing. What made it worse was that I could literally see an empty table sitting right there. When I asked about it, she told me she couldn't give it to us because it was "for a bigger party." We were a party of five--hardly tiny. It was obvious she just didn't want to deal with actually figuring anything out. After making us stand around for more than 15 minutes past our reservation time, with no updates, no apology, not even eye contact, we decided enough was enough. We walked out, got to our car, and the manager actually came over and knocked on my window. For a second, I thought maybe he was coming to apologize or at least acknowledge the mess. But no--nothing. No responsibility, no explanation, not even a hint of "let me fix this." When I said we were leaving, all he could manage was a dismissive "That's fine." Appetizers the only good dish was the avocado tikki, meat tacos were not good flavors seems strong but not flavorful, lamp chops were the worst ever, meat was chewy and hard to get off the bone. Both meat dishes were a huge disappointment. Fish was a miss as well overly salty and again too much masala but no flavor just masala. Main course we ordered biryani taste was fine but rice was all mushy, biryani you would expect basmati with each grand standing out, this was like khichadi. Ordered prawns curry which was just ok.
