Sometimes during lunch they keep the lights off in the front area since they don't have as many people in the place. They moved from a couple doors down where they had been for a long time so perhaps many regulars are not aware they're open again. The general Chou chicken is good although I'm still in search of the best general Chou chicken I remember from a place decades ago on Hayes near Cole st. Every once in a while I still need to get some and jasmine tea house is better than many I have had in the city. Mainly I enjoy a peaceful and filling lunch for an affordable price within walking distance of work. I would not want a ton of people to start enjoying the lunch specials and fill up the place but I would like to see them stick around while I'm working nearby so if you get a craving for some decent Chinese check it out and leave a review of dishes you try. Jasmine Tea House reminds me of being very sweaty after walking a long distance under an unseasonably hot San Francisco sun and trying to prevent my heavy backpack from falling off the bench seat and onto the floor, which it did two or three times when I was here that one time--but it was probably a different time from that other sweaty time. I've been here at least four times, more likely five. I came originally as part of TotMW--even though this place is definitely in Bernal Heights and not in the Mission--and returned because I enjoyed it so much. They have plenty of faux chicken on the menu, and between that and the vegetables-only vegetarian dishes they offer, there's plenty of variety in terms of flavor and mouthfeel. Many Chinese restaurants with seemingly large vegetarian sections of their menu hit the same taste and feel over and over and over again, but that's not the case here. The service is friendly, and they do a good job of making you feel welcomed and valued without hovering over you, which would have been easy for them to do on a couple of my visits, when I was the only person in the restaurant. No, they took my order, delivered my food, and refilled my water while allowing me to read in peace. It's really a surprisingly lovely little spot, a mellow surprise on an otherwise dingy stretch of Mission Street. When I lived in the Mission, I meant to come here, but life happened. Oh well. I can still pretty easily ride the 24-Divisadero from my flat to Jasmine Tea House. It's a familiar long ride, but I know it will be worth it. read more

They really need to update their menu. I ordered their combination dinner to go expecting to receive multiple items, but instead was bamboozled. They want you to choose ONE item. There are plenty of vegetarian options on the menu that gets approval for this longtime vegan. We started with two appetizers ordering the veggie dumplings and the veggie spring rolls. The veggie dumplings were soft filled with tofu and kale or spinach. The veggie spring rolls were flavorful and fresh. I ordered the spicy eggplant with tofu with a side of rice for a nominal two dollars more. My friend ordered the meatless chicken that came with lots of veggies. We enjoyed it and the food was flavorful. We ordered plenty and had some to take home for another meal. Ordering family style here is a good way to get a good feel of their menu. I placed an online delivery. It's alright the broth is good. I Ordered Vegggie Fried rice, and broth with just veggies. The broth had one of each veggies (1/2 of Broccoli, 2 Edamame, slithering of a Carrot, a piece of celery/mushroom/zucchini) look at the photo. The rice had more vegetables then rice, which made the dish unbalance. If that get can get better generating ingredients correctly I'll be back other than that there's better spots. read more

TheirCustomer Service.service is beyond excellent very polite and the owner is the sweetest lady ever. First time I walked in and met her she seen me and my and my 4 children and gave them one of our favorite dishes to take home "sweet and sour pork" is by far the best I've ever had! The first time we ever had the wonton soup is what had won me over. Never had such an amazing tasteful soup. It is to die for along with the walnut prawns , Mongolian, beef, and barbecue pork fried rice. There isn't a dish that I haven't wanted to try that I haven't loved. read more

The food is really good and flavorful. (I've been to this restaurant many times before, since 2010). The service could be more consistent and attentive, but the waitress was welcoming and friendly. However, the restaurant was a little disorganized and dirty. This could improve. Have been going here for close to 40 years and despite ownership change many years ago the food has remained solid. They serve a great wor won ton soup packed full of great ingredients, delicious broth and nice dumplings. I enjoy their Ming's chicken lettuce cups which has loads of flavor and a good portion. I've ordered quite a few times from this restaurant and have always been happy! The delivery is usually under an hour and the food is hot upon arrival. Last night we ordered the ginger chicken, Chef's Special--Jasmine Prawn and combo fried rice. All dishes were generous with their amount of food. Online ordering allows you to adjust spiciness levels or types of sauces etc. We really enjoyed the Jasmine Prawns. They were stir-fried big prawns with wood ear mushrooms (funky fungi!) and snow peas with the chef's special tea sauce. We adjusted the level of spiciness to mild--should have gone full on spicy!
