Hands down, one of the best Thai spots in the city! We love their drunken noodles and red curry, and the calamari is a steal. Service is always quick, and not only does the food taste amazing, but the presentation is top-notch too. We always recommend Sweet Basil to family and friends who crave some Thai food.

Sweet Basil is a solid Thai place on the border of Bernal Heights in the Mission. The flavors of the food are bold and delicious. I've had quite a few dishes from here over the years, but the Tom Yum soup is probably my favorite. It hits you with that strong lemongrass flavor that soothes your throat and warms up the body. On a day when you are not feeling 100%, this is a great soup to have. The flavors of the different curries with fluffy rice and tasty samosas make you wanna share plates family style, because I want to try it all. Service is friendly and fast. The lunch specials are a great deal and the food comes out fast, so you can be in and out and on your way.

Got takeout from here on a weekend for lunch. The food was hot and packaged neatly. Their menu consists of Thai classics, including Pad See Ew, Basil Chicken, Beef, and Veggie entrees. I had the Chicken Pad See Ew which is mostly noodles, with a good amount of chicken, and some broccoli, carrots, and cabbage. The food seemed pretty on par with standard American Thai food.

Food was great. My favorite dish is Grilled pork jawl over rice. Great service over all.

Today I ordered some foods here. I ordered duck salad and stir fried spicy chicken. It's so good.

Attentive service, food took a little time because it was lunch time. Half the people in the place were coworkers taking lunch break from a training. The pad Thai was pretty good although it doesn't compare to the street vendors in Bangkok over 15 yrs ago. Sometimes I wonder if it's mostly just how delicious it was after consecutive nights of drinking and partying and the hot and humid weather. I might have to go back and try it again in Thailand or maybe have pad Thai with beer?

    Vocanic Beef

I ordered the Vocanic Beef to-go! It was a nice size portion for the price ($23) but the only unfortunate thing was it was extremely overcooked. I will give this place the benefit of the doubt because the interior of the restaurant is super clean, the staff is extremely nice, and the rest of the menu looks super tasty; however, I was a bit disappointed by the quality of the beef dish. I'm willing to give this place another try!

One our VPs took our skeleton crew working on a Friday out to lunch. This place is right up the street from our office and I had no idea. I'll make this quick: it was super-decent and I was impressed. Service was also good. The restaurants in the area are a roll of the dice. Some are good, others are not. Check the pics.

Gee, I've probably passed by this Thai restaurant more than a few times because I walk on this stretch of Mission quite often. I guess I just don't turn my head because I'm either focused on not getting hit by a scooter or looking at my FitBit. That's my roundabout way of explaining my first (and so far only) experience with this place. It was through an app. Some cuisines survive the delivery process better than others, and Thai food has been a mixed bag for me on that front. I ordered the $15.95 Duck Noodle Soup, which combined pieces of roast duck (skin included) with rice noodles, bean sprouts, green onion, cilantro, and a broth that was a bit too salty (photo: https://bit.ly/3Hf5VvV). Better was the $16.95 Cashew Nuts with Chicken, which actually highlighted the sautéed chicken mixed with cashews, onion, bell pepper, mushrooms, and shrimp paste (photo: https://bit.ly/3HCffet). Someday I'll turn my head at the right time and enter this place which apparently is run by the Sweet Basil Queens, the name of their delivery service. FOOD - 4 stars...the cashew nut made up for the salty duck soup AMBIANCE - n/a...didn't see the queens' castle SERVICE - 3.5 stars...packed well enough TOTAL - 4 stars...filling Thai food to go RELATED - Exploring the Outer Mission? The mango used in the mango sticky rice was spoilt. This was clearly visible and shouldn't have been used.

Chicken Satay - yummy peanut sauce.

Had to go physically since they don't do reservations online anymore…read more The wait was about two hours but we actually walked around and went to an open bar a short walk away. They text you when your table is ready and got have about 5 minutes to get there. Right away I knew I wanted the Khao soi which I got with tofu. This was beyond delicious, but I wish they have more broth. I've had Khao soi before but it was a bit more broth which made the noodles less dry. Also I wish the tofu was cut into smaller cubes, the tofu wasn't very crispy which made it pretty bland and one dimensional. Other than that it was very good. The Thai tea was also good, not too sweet which was perfect. The duck breast curry had a similar taste to the Khao soi but the duck was one of the beast we had. Super moist and flavorful in the broth, definitely one of the best dishes of the night. Also the beef fried rice (Khao pad mun neur) was cooked well, my favorite was the flavor of the fried rice. Had a smoky wok flavor to it which made it addicting. The ambience was very nice my favorite was their music playlist. Was nostalgic and gave good vibes in the restaurant. Definitely a great experience and worth a try when in the city. I would come again for the duck curry and maybe the Khao soi with a different protein or ask the tofu to be extra crispy.

All 32 customers were seated when the doors opened, with 8-9 waiting by 4:30 PM. By the time we left at 5:30 PM, there were 12 waiting to be seated. Our fav wait staff was called in to work an extra day. It's always nice to see her as she takes orders and bustle dishes with a pleasant smile on her face. We ordered the same short rib beef fried rice but tried the curry chicken noodle soup this time which had a crispy fried ball of noodles topping a bowl of mild, spicy curry broth, soft noodles and chicken. It was very good. For the first time, we ordered their Chinese broccoli which was sliced into smaller pieces and surprisingly very good. We were full but decided to get the pandan kaya toast with large scoop of coconut ice cream to share since we've not ordered this in a long time. The chefs cooking that evening were doing a great job as the flavors were delicious.

Every bite and sip was delicious. We ordered family style and shared everything. The service was also fantastic, even though we got there late and didn't realize until the food was beginning to come out that it was last call, our server and all the other workers that came by were all so friendly and made us feel welcome. We ate quickly and boxed the rest so they could get home. What we ordered: Tom Kha soup - coconutty, creamy, a lil sour and a lil spice. Delicious. Fresh rolls - crisp and springy with lots of greens and tofu and a good peanut sauce to dip. Crispy pork belly sweet basil - the CRISP and flavor of this pork belly was to die for. Chicken larb - this was my favorite dish of the night. Heavy basil/herbs, just a little kick from the chilies, full on flavor explosion. I will be thinking of this dish for a long time haha. Beef Pad See Ew - chewy in the most delicious and favor packed way. Love pad see ew and this one was great! Pad cha scallop - Came out sizzling on a cast iron! This dish was fun and the scallops while small, were fresh and had lots of flavor. And finally, for dessert we ordered the black rice durian. It was all three of us' first time trying Durian and we loved it! Creamy and a little funky but the black rice and sauce emphasized its natural sweetness. Thank you to everyone at Saap Ver for adding to my besties birthday happiness! Can't wait to come back.

The inside of the restaurant was quite lively, even though it was pretty early in the evening. The decorations were very colorful, and the atmosphere felt lively. Service was fine, but the food did take awhile to get to us. We ended up ordering crispy pork, duck curry, pad thai, and fried rice (sorry don't remember which fried rice in particular). I think the pad thai and fried rice were a bit light in flavor, but the curry and crispy pork were really yummy! The duck curry kinda took me by surprise because of the lychee haha I wish the portions were bigger, but great taste.

The interior is well decorated with Thai culture and with the darker tones of the design, it makes the restaurant feel quite fancy. 4.5/5 - Crispy Pork (Moo Krop) Fried Rice - Very savory fried rice dish. Spiced well and very filling. We didn't expect the pork to be cut so large and mixed into the rice, but it was very tender and easy to still eat. We would've expected the pork to be sliced maybe in half or fourths to make the dish feel like a "pork fried rice" than a fried rice + pork mix, but it still worked well and if you love pork, this will definitely be your fix! 5/5 - Pad Thai - We thought the restaurant nailed this classic noodle dish. Filling portions and did not overcook their noodles. You can taste each component of the dish, which speaks to everything not being under or overcooked. We ordered nuts on the side but you would be quite satisfied ordering this if you like pad thai! 4.5/5 - Pad Gra Prow - Appropriate veggie to beef proportion and very flavorful. Minced well and great to complement with your carb dishes (noodle or rice). We thought the dish was slightly oily but it feels well absorbed when eaten with our pad thai. If you have tried the dish before and would like it, this will be satisfactory!
