I was grabbed up and taken on a soaring Superman-leading-Lois-Lane-like tour of modern Thailand...the impacts of the weak dollar on Southeast Asian economies, how technology is revolutionizing much of Thailand, Thailand's delicate balance between preserving its ancient Buddhist culture while aggressively pursuing broad modernization policies, and Thai pop culture and fashion...all to the music of a sweet accent, like an oversolo of oboes and violins, with the grammatical precision of 20-year-old Mozart. It was like catching a few zzz's in an empty classroom and waking up in the middle of a graduate-level class about the distinctions between absolute and perceived truth. Oh wow, man. Oh yeah, the food was heavenly...sumptuously sweet & spicy mussels, Thai noodles that were the perfect balance of slippery and spearable, vegetables that hopped into your mouth with freshness, and meat that exploded off of the grill just when it couldn't stand the heat anymore. My only minor annoyance was that they would not crank up the spicy factor beyond level 5, forcing me to fetch my handy-dandy travel squirt bottle of hot sauce from the glove compartment in my car. We decided to give this place a try before leaving Destin. The food was decent. The restaurant, however, was super hot! Their AC was acting up in the middle of a hot, summer day. We ordered-- 1. Papaya salad: just a traditional papaya salad. Nothing special. 3/5 2. Larb salad: very unusual. The beef was cooked? I've never had a cooked larb salad. Also, it was REALLY salty... almost inedible really ‍ 1/5 3. Seafood tom yum: A little too sweet for me, but I asked for limes and that made it a little better 2/5 4. Crab fried rice: this was pretty good 4/5 5. Pineapple chicken fried rice: I personally don't think pineapples belong in fried rice, but I tried it anyways so my opinion is kinda biased 1/5 6. Crying tiger: steak was tough and flavorless. The sauce wasn't good either 2/5 7. Fried snapper: decent until we saw the price tag LOL. The waitress asked if we wanted to try the special.. so we said yeah. I guess we're both at fault because she didn't tell us the price and we didn't ask. Anyways, it was $60. It was basically a fried snapper with heated sweet chili sauce on it. The fish was fresh and crispy. I would've liked it more if there was a different sauce used 3/5 8: Mango sticky rice: delish! Thank goodness this place was open on a Sunday! We had originally driven to another Thai restaurant, only to find that they were closed. Luckily Jasmine Thai was only a 4 minute drive away. Service was great! Very attentive from the moment we walked in. And offering suggestions on popular dishes based on our tastes. Because it was a rainy day, we were craving a hot soup, so we went with the tom yum gai (spicy chicken soup) - spicy level: hot. I expected it to be average because it was a chicken soup. The spicy soup was absolutely perfect and hit the spot! Next, I ordered a Thai hot - shrimp pad thai. Okay, as an Asian that loves spicy food, I often find that when restaurants advertise their food as spicy, it's really just a couple drops of red pepper flakes. But here, wow. I was burning up and had to take breaks just to eat half of the humongous portion of noodles! My friend ordered the chicken fried rice, and even that standard dish was cooked perfectly! Our favorite Thai place. Always spot on. They do have busy times when service can get choppy. But they mean well and if you just ask they will fix it. We started with spring rolls - absolutely amazing. Full of flavor, crispy, fresh, and piping hot. For our meal, my husband ordered the chicken pad noodles and I, the yellow curry. We both LOVE spicy so we ordered level 4 spice - it was perfect. Everything we ordered was hot, fresh, and FULL OF FLAVOR. The service was impeccable. This place closes for lunch between 3pm to 5pm. We came from out of town and didn't think to look at the hours since it is a Tuesday. Our fault. Se we waited an hour for it to open. Menu had a pretty good selection. They did not have a drink menu or dessert menu. The server verbally told us the drink options. We ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, Massaman Curry, and Yum Woon Sen (glass noodle salad) and the Largest appetizer (satay chicken, egg rolls, fried wonton, and fried calamari). Ordered Thai tea and Singha beer for drinks. Drinks were 10/10. The appetizer was good. I liked the 4 different dipping sauces it comes with. The satay chicken is a score of 10/10. Egg rolls were 7/10 (a bit greasy but had a good amount of meat in it- better than others we've had). Calamari was 5/10- texture was right but batter got soggy fast). Fried wontons- 5/10. Sauces were good 10/10. The chicken pad thai (medium spice) was hardly spicy, more sweet than anything. So i requested extra pepper flakes and it made it a bit better.. Still does not compare to the one in AL. (I must be spoiled from the taste if Thai restaurant in Theodore, AL-- hands down best pad thai EVER!!) SCORE: 4/10 The Massaman Curry was our favorite!! The Pad Thai was dry and tasted peanut-buttery, lacking that saltiness and umami flavor that typically rounds a dish out. I would give it a 1 out of 5. Pad Thai is such a basic dish that I have found that if the Pad Thai is good, chances are everything else is too. The Pad Woo Sen was really flavorful. The silver noodles reminded me of Filipino noodles used in "pansit." I came here on a Friday night with my family during our vacation in Destin. We were looking for a place to eat and found this place on yelp. I'd say this place lived up to its yelp ratings. The food was excellent. We had the pad see ew, pineapple fried rice, pork dish, a curry dish, and the mango/sweet rice dessert. I don't think we could've eaten fast enough. Haha. It was either THAT good, or we were just too hungry. The service was on point and were really attentive. The only thing I would say is to probably ease off on the selling. There's a line between being pushy and making suggestions for food. Other than that, they were great. The manager came up to us during the meal and greeted us. The restaurant itself is very clean. HOLY. I must say that this is THE best Thai restaurant I've ever gone to. My crew and I went to Destin for spring break and stopped by this place TWICE within the three days that we stayed in the city, and we were never disappointed. On the first visit we got the Chicken Satay and fried dumplings as appetizers, two orders of the Tom Yum Goong, and the entrees were Pad Thai, Chicken Pad Kee Mow, Noodle Curry with beef, Pepper Garlic Pork, Duck Curry, and Spicy Curry fish (this was a group of six people, and WE KILT THAT SHIIIIII). I'll break each item down for you, but before I do that, I just wanna let you guys know that many of the items can be ordered at a certain level of spiciness (1-5). I'm not a strong spicy food eater, but I can eat something like a Hot 'N Spicy from McDonald's without a sweat, BUT when we ordered our food with a 3, it was really spicy to me (spicy enough for me to finish a cup of water), and that spice taste stays on your tongue for a while. 5 is like DEATH; picking the perfect amount of spice makes a difference. Chicken Satay tasted pretty alright, but it was nothing special. It was like a few 3-inch pieces of chicken each on a shiskabob stick that came with a peanut sauce. Fried dumplings tasted like mini Vietnamese eggrolls. It was good, but not as good as. . . THE TOM YUM GOONG. So good. . . It's like a hot and sour soup with shrimp and definitely tastes like some authentic Thai food. This is an item that is a must-have. A spice level of 2 was perfect. I didn't even touch the Pad Thai because someone ordered that with a spice level of 5 and I didn't want to die. Pad Kee Mow was great! We got this with a spice level of 2. Noodles were good and so was everything else part of this dish. Beef Noodle Curry (spice level 2) was my favorite! It's basically noodles with a somewhat sweet curry with potatoes and onions (which I didn't eat because I hate onions) and your choice of meat. I could've eaten this whole bowl myself. I just love noodles. This is definitely a good choice if you want something simple. Pepper Garlic Pork (spice level 4) was like a delicious porkchop with veggies on the side. I didn't really pay attention to this entree so I don't have much to say about this one because I thought it'd be too spicy for me. The duck meat in the duck curry (4?) was super good and soft, but the curry itself was okay. I thought the curry tasted a little bit like a pepperoni pizza for some reason. Maybe there was tomato in the curry? I forgot. The spicy curry fish (spice level 4) was pretty delish. The fish was crispy and had a great taste. I didn't really eat this dish that much either because I'm a weakling. DAY 2: Tom Yum Goong (2), Thai Spicy and Sour Seafood Soup (3), Pork Noodle Curry (2), Panang Curry (3), Duck noodle soup (powder spice on the side), Pad See Ew (3?), Papaya Salad (mild) The Thai Spicy and Sour Seafood Soup wasn't as good as the Tom Yum Goong. It's a clear soup that tasted like a Vietnamese dish called "lau," but if you like seafood soup, this is a good choice because it was imitation snow crab, actual fish, mussels, shrimp?, etc. It was so spicy though! This soup had me dying, and it was only a 3! That afterburn is crazy. lolol. The Pork Noodle Curry tasted like the Beef one except with pork. I think I liked the beef better though, but this dish did not disappoint! It tastes good with whatever because it's so simple and yum. Panang Curry is like a coconut curry. It's a little sweet, but I really liked it the way it was! We got this with pork. Tastes awesome with rice. It also has some zucchini or some type of squash in it, which is pretty awesome as well. The duck noodle soup was pretty good. I was surprised at how dark the soup was at first! The duck meat is soft, and I thought the noodles tasted great, but the soup itself was okay. It kind of reminded me of chinese medicine or something, but the whole dish itself was pretty good. I didn't use any spice when I ate this. The Pad See Ew was pretty good. It was similar to the Pad Kee Mow that we had the other time, but we had seafood in this one and it was super yum! I don't think you can ever go wrong with the drunken noodle dishes at this restaurant. The papaya salad was pretty refreshing and it was made fresh. They cut the papaya and made it look like thin noodles. I only had one bite; I thought it tasted peculiar at first but I'd recommend it to papaya lovers. This dish was smaller than the other dishes that we ordered. We also had dessert: the mango with sticky rice, which was recommended to us over and over again, and I've got to say that we finally caved in and had some! The mango was so ripe and sweet and the sticky rice went with it so well! I love this restaurant! I wish there was one near my hometown. After that, I had the cashew tofu, (Yay, they have fried tofu for your entree!), and wasn't dissapointed when I ordered the #5 heat. I skipped the Pad Thai this time around, though I'd definitely get it if I go back. The Basil Tofu was also quite good, and a totally different pepper spice at a #3, yet spicy enough for those who want a little more than "medium spice." Well yelp...I read the great reviews on here and once again I was let down in Destin,FL. Came to have (early) dinner with my husband and 2 kids. First, I want to point out it was a Friday, and this place smelled like a nail salon . Not saying it's necessarily their fault (since their neighbors with a nail salon) but a mixture of Thai food, incense, and acetone is just not my thing for a dinner setting ...And I'm Vietnamese . Now about food and service ...it wasn't busy when we came in (only two other small families). About 5 min after being seated, a women came and asked if anyone had taken our drink orders .. We just got water, then AFTER we ordered our appetizer and meals, 3 more couples came in, sat and ordered. Every single group (including the 3 groups after us) were served either meals or appetizer before we even got our appetizer ( tempura calamari w/sweet chili sauce )- nothing special. By the time our meals came out (2 couples were already done, payed, and out the door). So our food is finally here !!!... Piping hot ... So hot we couldn't even eat it! My husband put ice cubes in his curry to cool it down faster ... I sifted through the top layers of my pad Thai while it slowly cooled layer by layer . Both dishes were ok tasting. To end the evening, we asked for the check she said ok... And we waited ...and waited some more . Finally, I walked outside with my antsy kids ...
