It took a hot minute for our luggage to arrive on the carousel, so that didn't help! When we got to the rental car 'corral' there was a line about 15 people deep. Thankfully, Alamo had 3, possibly 4, desks open, staffed & helping customers. Despite the high number of people in line, we did NOT wait more than 10-15 minutes before getting to the desk ourselves. Picking up the rental was a bit out of the ordinary for us this time. After we filled out the contract & paid for the class of car we wanted, we were directed outside to the Alamo lot. Once there, the porter directed us to row 4 and to pick out whichever car we wanted. We didn't have much to choose from... but it was nice that we could choose ourselves. We were able to compare trunk space as well as head space for my husband who's considerably taller than I am. After we made our choice and exited the lot, the adventures began. The car was clean with low mileage at pick up. We simply chose it because of its beautiful blue color, lol. Priorities!! 3 states in 5 days! The car was most definitely fuel efficient. We used less than $100 in gas! It was spacious for me... but not so much for my husband. It drove comfortably across the highways & through the tunnels. It did well in the desert heat, as well! Returning it was seamless, as well! We gave ourselves a little extra time as we had to drop off and take the shuttle back to the airport. For once, I can recommend a car rental location.... Seriously! They NEVER happens!

After my own search, it said to get the key reprogrammed and change the battery. I changed the battery but of course only a locksmith could reprogram it as the car was still unable to lock. I paid my own money for the locksmith to be able to still come home to Las Vegas. When I called the company upon business opening, the gentleman at the front desk said that I would get my deposit back as discussed and reimbursed for the locksmith service. Once I got back to town and returned the vehicle, I got my deposit back but then I had to "contact the manager" to get the money reimbursed. I showed receipts and all, and after persistently contacting them regarding the reimbursement, I then sent an email to their office. Still with no resolution, I contacted the rental company AGAIN, all to be told that they could not reimburse more than $120. Communication is terrible, the staff are not professional! None of that information was stated in the contract, however, I still purchased the liability insurance. As of August 19, 2024, I have not received a dime of the reimbursement. The next step is to take the matter to small claims court!

The day before I got an email with instructions and you're able to checkin. This saves time at the counter. We didn't realize it at the time but where they park the cars is a small area. We came an hour early hoping to start the day early but our car wasn't there yet. I recommend when you are checking in online to set an earlier time if you need it. The only problem is you're only able to set the pickup time and cannot change the drop off time. Not sure if you can change that at the desk. Anyways, we were told to come back at our regular time as they had to get the car. We came back and everything was smooth. Remember to bring your passport if you are not from US in addition to your driver's license and payment cards. I declined their offer of insurance and so they asked about your insurance company and policy number. After that they went through where to pick up the car. It's a little confusing. You go out the doors, turn right and walk a few steps and it's on the right. It is a small area. Thankfully we had a small car as I had read some reviews where people had trouble dropping off due to limited space. Since there was no one doing a walkaround the car, I took pictures of all the scratches I found. Drop off is a little confusing to get back to the area as to enter it's behind the Planet Hollywood. Once we found it, there were lots of cars already parked. We had a small car so was able to fit into a little space. Then I dropped off the keys in the drop box by the desk where I came in the morning. All in all a good experience, just be prepared for the things mentioned above. It is super convenient having that in our hotel and we'd use Enterprise again.

It was ratty looking and unsafe to drive. It had scratches, dents old, cracked tires with hardly any tread on them. It was missing a hub cap on the front driver's side. This vehicle should be put out to pasture. I would be embarrassed to rent this out. So, we went in to exchange it. Sure, enough one was available but it's an upgrade. Basically, cost you more money. Fine try to stay positive on vacation here. So, we got a nice Nissan Sentra with California plates. Good tires, nice clean paint job and no noticeable dents on it. We hopped in and I noticed it had just over a half of a tank of gas. This is a first for me. I've rented cars before and always started with a full tank. Anyways apparently at Enterprise you must match the level of gas when you got the car as to when you return it. I returned it with more gas than what I started with. Do you think Enterprise with credit you? Not a chance.

When the manager told me they did not have the specific vehicle I needed and was CONFIRMED for, when they didn't have it, (or the customers in front of me too), why did he reference Formula 1 race that is scheduled for this weekend, as one of the reasons he did not have car available? Since mine was a 1 day rental, why did he lie telling me it was because of a race that is scheduled literally 1 week away? So was he implying it takes a week to clean a re-fuel a vehicle. Or, just lying to me? 2. When I told him that's BS, he them said we have a lot of vehicles that had recalls. Oh, ok. Well, when I called to verify my CONFIRMED vehicle the day before, why didn't he tell me then the vehicle I needed was in service. Ya wanna know why? Because it's the second lie he told me. Is thus standard procedure to lie to your customers when you screw up?? When I go to dinner, hair appointments, doctor visits, etc., I have appointments. Why is that not good enough for a car rental company? Why don't t you call customers in advance and tell them we don't have your specific vehicle. You sent me what seems like 100 emails and text messages reminding me about my car. WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL TO TELL ME YOU DD NOT HAVE VEHICLE? Crickets. By him not calling, I wasted 20 minutes of my time, and $20 in taxi fees, not to mention the $400 + I spent having to rent a van with no notice. Another suggestion was to rent me two vehicles. Let me make sure I got this right. It's a family trip to the Grand Canyon with my family. Are you suggesting we stop every few minutes to say to one another, "WOW, did you see that beautiful mountain range"? "Ok family, let's get back into our TWO separate cars and drive a bit further done the road and do it again. Beyond stupid. Or, are you suggesting we call each other while driving?? Finally, now you want me to contact you. Pffff. Believe me, you have my contact info. I have contacted at least two law firms. Perhaps this is a class action item.

I was asked if I would return it with a half a tank or empty. I said I would return it full. They said no, half a tank or empty. Apparently those are the only options. They were bragging how they are $.20 less than in town, but unless you bring it back at exactly half a tank or on fumes, you will pay too much. Only need 1 gallon for your rental? Still paying for half a tank. Absolutely ridiculous. Maybe it was a hard sale tactic because the sales person gets a commission, but I would really like the option to return with a full tank like normal. Other than that, pretty good.

By the time you add baggage fees, seat selection, taxes, hotel resort fees, or rental car extras, the total can be much higher than expected. For example, Frontier Airlines may charge around $95 for a carry-on bag depending on when and how you pay for it. That fee isn't always obvious when you're first comparing prices, so what seems like a cheap flight can quickly become much more expensive. Before booking, always check the total cost--including baggage fees, cancellation policies, and any extra charges--and compare it with booking directly through the airline, hotel, or car rental company. Taking no chances, I booked the same car via the Budget app, but the $215.98 rental ballooned to $395.90. I canceled my Costco rental and hoped for the best. Upon arrival in Vegas, I caught the bus to the rental center and headed to the parking lot to get my car. I am a Fastbreak member so my name should have been on the board. Uh, it wasn't. Perhaps it was because I reserved the car just 3 hours prior. Anyway, I went to the Fastbreak booth and was on my way in 10 minutes. Returning the car was friction-free ... It took less than a minute before I was on my way to get on a shuttle bus. My experience with Budget was flawless. I try to find out what happened with my rental via Costco Travel.

At the time of this review, the Budget located at Harry Reid international airport has an overall…read morerating of only 1.5 stars. After my experience, I can understand why. My experience with this particular Las Vegas location was completely different from my experiences with Budget locations in Denver and Seattle, which were both excellent. I prebooked and prepaid for my rental online. I ended up being one day late picking up the vehicle because I had to push my flight back. I tried calling the location to let them know, but after being on hold for 15 minutes, I had to hang up. I understood that I might potentially have to pay for the additional day. When I arrived, the woman behind the counter was extremely rude and repeatedly tried to upsell me. She used what I felt were scare tactics to convince me to buy additional insurance. She then told me there were no comparable "upgraded" vehicles that I had already paid for and that I would have to pay more for a vehicle that was not an upgrade. I pulled out my phone and checked Budget's website myself. There were numerous upgraded vehicles available. When I pointed this out and reminded her that I had already prepaid for my rental, her attitude became increasingly hostile. She told me that even though I had prepaid, they would rent the vehicle to someone else if I didn't pick it up on time. She again tried to get me to pay more for another vehicle. She also told me that I was "lucky that they were going to do anything for me." When I refused, she attempted to cancel my reservation four or five times and became increasingly authoritative and confrontational. I was extremely disappointed by the way I was treated. Eventually, she agreed to honor my reservation and gave me a vehicle. Ironically, after dealing with her for almost an hour, I walked into the lot and saw plenty of clean, newer vehicles of similar value sitting there. The vehicle I was given was dirty and had clearly not been cleaned after the previous rental. There was a wrapper on the floor in the back seat, and the exterior was covered in dirt and water spots. The vehicle also had numerous scratches and dents. I documented the condition of the car when I received it. By this point, I had already spent more than an hour dealing with this situation after traveling for many hours, so I decided to take the vehicle rather than spend even more time arguing at the counter. I subsequently called Budget's 800 number and explained what happened. The representative I spoke with was helpful and acknowledged my concerns. I was told that Budget would reimburse me for one full day of the rental because of the situation. I was specifically told that the refund would take 7-14 business days. It has now been more than 21 days, and I still have not received the refund that Budget promised. To be clear, I have had good experiences with other Budget locations, including Denver and Seattle. My problem is with this particular Las Vegas location and the way this transaction was handled. Between the aggressive upselling, the refusal to initially honor a prepaid reservation, the condition of the vehicle, the way I was treated at the counter, and the failure to issue a promised refund within the stated timeframe, this was one of the worst rental-car experiences I've had. I strongly recommend using another rental company when renting in Las Vegas.

AVOID HERTZ AND DOLLAR WHEN RENTING A CAR -- Worst Rental Experience I've Ever Had…read more We rented a car from Dollar at Las Vegas International Airport, and this was by far the worst rental car experience I've ever had. From the beginning, the Dollar representative at the airport was rude, unhelpful, and unfriendly. We were told to pick up our vehicle at Hertz, but when we got there--at around 1:00 AM--we discovered that she had given us the WRONG parking space number. We spent forever walking around trying to find a car that wasn't there. Eventually, we had to find a Hertz representative for help, and they confirmed that we had been given the wrong space number. When we finally located the car, we immediately noticed that it was ALREADY DAMAGED. There was no representative available to inspect the vehicle with us or document the existing damage, so thankfully, we took photographs and video before leaving. When we returned the car, we specifically told the representative that the damage was already there when we rented it. She seemed to completely ignore what we were telling her. Then, after the rental, we received an email claiming WE had damaged the car and that we were going to be charged for the damage. Thankfully, we have photos and video showing the condition of the vehicle when we received it. The entire experience--from the rude service, to being sent to the wrong parking spot at 1:00 AM, to receiving an already-damaged vehicle with nobody available to inspect it, and then being blamed for that damage afterward--was completely unacceptable. I would HIGHLY recommend documenting every inch of your vehicle with photos and video before leaving the lot if you rent from Dollar or Hertz. Personally, after this experience, I would avoid both Dollar and Hertz. Unfortunately, my previous Hertz rental in Florida was also a horrible experience, so for me, this is no longer an isolated incident. I will not rent from Dollar or Hertz again.
