My first trip to Jason's was a good one. The menu is very large and a bit overwhelming but the staff was patient and helpful offering a handheld paper menu for me. I was happy to see a separated vegetarian section with several choices. I ordered the Zucchini Grillini. It was good but by the name I expected a panini type sandwich. It was not. I just ordered the California Club with a side of chips and my total was $8.44. It was a good sandwich that came with ample Swiss cheese and the guacamole is always a nice touch. I love me a good salad bar, and JD's does not disappoint. This was not my first time here, but I previously had only ordered takeout and hurried on my way. This was my first time having the salad bar. It's soooo good. They have everything a salad lover wants and needs. Aside from the standard lettuces, there's every topping you could imagine, even feta cheese, which I usually reserve for my more bougie salads. The mini muffins and garlic toast, which are also on the salad bar, help make it a good square meal. Oh, and the ice cream doesn't hurt! Full disclosure: My first job ever (I was 15 years old) was working for a Jason's Deli over 10 years ago. So I am highly biased. :) That being said, how many restaurants do you know where the employees would give the place a great review? Not that many probably... When I was working at Jason's we were all about fresh and tasty food, and it seems like even over the last 10 years it hasn't changed. For what it is (a fresh, fast deli), Jason's is great. I say that for a couple of reasons: - It is consistent - You can order almost anything off of the menu and it will all be good. - All of the food is fresh - The veggies, fruit, meats, and breads are all fresh. I can verify that only a few things are frozen here, and the muffins are made on premise, for example. - It is relatively cheap, especially for the size of the sandwiches. The Reuben the Great, for example, is an original on the menu and it is HUGE. - The salad bar is unbeatable. I almost always get the all-you-can-eat salad bar with a cup of soup (you can add a cup for only $0.99) just because it's my favorite salad bar ever. They have unique items on their salad bar, like hummus or feta or olives. I love the three bean salad, and they even have fresh fruit on there. And I love their Italian dressing. It's so much more than the typical greens and potato salad salad bar you find at most places. - They have a lot of healthy items on the menu, but they also have unhealthy things if you are with someone that's not into that sort of thing. For example...My fiance. He will not go to a vegan restaurant with me or eat sushi because the man wants MEAT. Well, they have that. He got the beefeater last time we were there, which is a french dip sandwich, and he LOVED it. Jason's Deli is the BOMB. I was so excited when I saw one opened up in Rookwood. First - How can you not love FREE soft serve ice cream? Seriously. Like Sally Y. mentioned, it really is a better version of Panera. It's got a HUGE selection of anything your heart desires. From Salads, to sandwiches, to soups, to spaghetti, to dessert. They have everything and it's all delicious. I like that they have a separate to-go counter. That came in handy when I wanted to place my order. This is a staple. Great service. Good food. It's got a pretty decent salad bar but it's not like the best salad bar ever or anything ... Like if it had avocados, fresh mozzarella balls, almond slices and ginger dressing, then maybe I'd rave about it. But it's decent. Relatively good turn over so relatively fresh. Their sandwiches are good though I feel like I want something warm sometimes for dinner so this seems like more of a lunch time choice. The gluten free chicken salad sandwich is my go to item. They are excellent choices in the salad bar, I had a cup of vegetarian French onion soup. French onion soup is hardly ever vegetarian--most recipes are beef broth based--so I was excited about that. The soup wasn't too bad, and as is the case with most things, was made better by adding mini corn muffins as a side. The salad bar had a ton of healthy selections. Since I work just around the corner from Rookwood Commons, I was excited about new lunch options at Rookwood Exchange. I've been to Jason's Deli a handful of times and gotten the chicken club salad each time because I've enjoyed it so much. Our office has also gotten lunches catered. They provide great service, but most of the time something has gone wrong with our orders. They are quick to correct it and have even driven salad dressing over to my office when they forgot to pack it with our pickup order. Since I'm on a healthy plant based, dairy free, wheat free, oil free, way of eating my only choice was the salad bar, but what a great salad I was able to make! My healthy salad (for $8 at the make your own salad bar) - I had lots of spinach & field greens topped with 2 kinds of olives, artichoke, sunflower seeds, nuts, hard boiled eggs, etc. and didn't even need dressing! Dressing is usually where all the hidden calories are in a salad, but this salad was so moist & yummy without it. I will be back, IF I can find a parking spot! This is a great spot for lunch. Lots of options for every taste both hot and cold. The salad bar has a ton of fresh ingredients (and is never empty) and the cornbread muffins and soft serve is an added plus. I went during lunch and was surprised to find almost all of the tables were taken. It is a little pricey for sandwiches and salads, however I'd say pretty comparable to Panera. everytime i order the new york yankee they put all corn beef on it! it is suppose to have pastrami on it. Then i order a pastrami sandwich and they serve corn beef! This is obviously incorrect because pastrami has a pepper ring on the outer edge of the cut of beef. very annoying. This seem to always happen later in in the evening when to run out of pastrami. I came by this place by chance just because I wanted to get my nails done at Ambiance & they were happened to be there & I was hungry :) Went during Lunch hour & I would recommend going a less busy time for a better experience. My only thing I think they really need to improve is that the main menu only lists about 8 sandwiches, so I thought that was all my choices. I got the Royale & it was good but about a 15 min wait & I had to go ask for more sauce. I was disappointed when I found a Full menu on the table & found out I had way more to choose from. If I would have known that walking in I would have got something else. I also think it's cool they have their own bottled water, first I have seen that at a Deli. I come here occasionally for lunch with my work group, and I have brought DLW here on weekends. It's a good place for a quick, relatively healthy lunch at a reasonable price. The salad bar is a big favorite of DLW. She is always on the lookout for a good one, and Jason's is right up her alley. They always have a half dozen soups on offer as well, and I haven't encountered a bad one yet. I usually want a sandwich at lunch, and they have so many on the menu, plus a build-your-own option, that it's a bit overwhelming. The pot roast sandwich they have occasionally is great, and the Cali club, which I had on my last trip, was both delicious and gave at least the illusion of healthful eating. Oh, and they offer free soft serve ice cream when you dine in. Drawbacks are that they get very busy during the week, have a hard time accommodating large groups, and the parking lot attached to their strip mall is hard to maneuver. Oh how I dream about its tender, flaky layers: rich, buttery croissant; salty ham & smoky turkey & bacon; juicy, ripe tomato slices that say 'It's a summer day,' & crisp Romaine leaves drizzled with tangy mayo & blanketed atop some mild cheddar. Yum, I love you. There has been occasion to stray from The Club Royale. That winter's day I wanted a hot meal and ordered the French Dip, well, it was pretty tasty. Just a few points taken off for the meat still being a little pink when I was promised it would be well done. (This after getting my hopes up again after a much earlier visit when I was just flat told "no," I couldn't be helped getting the rare meat brown & I was out of luck.) Praise given, too, to the soups about 75% of the time. Almost always the French onion soup is pretty tasty & rich in flavor. I consider myself somewhat of an expert on this as I will order French onion anywhere. Last time I had it here it was water with onions in it. It actually dropped this review a whole star. I tried the beef stew (seasonal) once & it was incredibly spicy. Beef stew is kind of another thing I consider myself an expert at - eating & making. I had my mom try it as she was with me for lunch at Jason's & the stew burned her mouth off too. I'm not sure how you do that to beef stew. My love for The Club Royale has kept me from trying more & the menu is vast & tasty sounding. Plus, you get free ice cream if you eat in. Hubby and I went to Jason's for lunch for the first time this week. First, during the week it can be tricky getting parking in their lot since it is shared by many restaurants and other businesses. However, there seems to be a quick turnover, so keep circling the lot and you should find a spot. The people taking orders at the counter/register are very friendly and helpful. They were even apologetic when their credit card system was being difficult. SO nice/great customer service! The menu is quite extensive, so I think anyone would be able to find something that they like (even a friend we met for lunch who has very specific dietary restrictions). This made it hard to decide what to order, but we both ordered the chicken panini. Described as antibiotic-free chicken, provolone, pesto, roma tomatoes, and organic spinach- all of my favorites! They give you a number to put on the the wire contraption on your table, and your food is brought to you. For beverages, they give you cups to self-serve. There is a salad bar where you help yourself to complimentary muffins and soft serve ice cream! Paninis were warm and yummy, though my husband thought that there should have been more chicken. Wanted something on the healthier side for lunch. Coworker and I have been saying we've wanted to try Jason's Deli but never tried it out until today. Parking was hard to come by due to time of day and location. Service was was quick. I ordered the wild salmon-wich for $9.59. Chose the chips and salsa for my side. Left thinking my bag was light for a sandwich and chips. Returned to work and opened the box. Definitely disappointed in the size of the sandwich compared to the price. The sandwich was decent. Don't get me wrong, I love going to Panera because their sandwiches are addictively delicious, but Jason's Deli definitely wins when it comes to selection while maintaining the tasty food factor. When you first walk in, the menu is definitely large and overwhelming, but the bonus is that they have anything you could possibly be craving. If all else fails, you can get the salad bar which is overrun with an awesome selection you can load your plate up with! Service is quick. Why are we just now getting a Jason's Deli in Cincinnati? Yes, we already have about a gazillion other delis and sandwich shops in town but this is the most unique thus far. The food itself is great, very fresh, and decently portioned (except the baked potatoes which are huge). The menu is expansive, almost too big which makes it hard to choose. It's can also get somewhat pricey. But there salad bar is awesome and there's a free soft serve cone to finish things up. Now the negatives. Parking at this location can be VERY crappy and I don't think time of day really makes a difference. Between Lime, the new Taste of Belgium and various other restaurants, you'll be fighting for a space that doesn't involve a hike. I already mentioned this but it can get a little pricey. Lastly, during my visit, we had a busboy that practically hovered over us, waiting to take our empty plates. Family was in the area and we "Yelpped" a local lunch meet. Turns out Jason's Deli was a total hit. All four of us tried a different sandwich, and none of us were disappointed. It has a unique feel to it - you walk up to the cashier and order, there's a gargantuan salad bar tempting you, but we went with the sandwiches. One of us had the "Salmon-wich," with salmon, guac, tomatoes & lettuce. Another the "New Yorker," Corned beef & pastrami. One had the "Smokey Jack," a turkey BLT, but the one we all agreed was the most flavorful was on their meatless menu - the "Caprese Panini," just like it sounds - Mozzarella & Tomatoes on a panini, but it packed such powerful flavors, we all gave it the best of the day award.
