Stopping here on my way back to California, this food was gurrrrrr ate!! We were welcomed by two wonderful servers who genuinely appeared to be happy to serve the customers. They made you feel extremely welcome and comfortable. They carried smiles with them and their attitudes were delightful. So, the service was sweet and the food was also on that level!! My boyfriend has celiac dx and when I let the hostess know, she went to find her manager. He came out to speak with us in person, letting us know what strategies he would use to prepare a gluten free meal and how they would be preventing cross contamination. For the rest of our visit, they checked in with us, and were vigilant about checking their ingredients. They were attentive, patient, and so kind. So appreciated as this is a burger place and I was pretty much prepared for them to politely let us know they couldn't guarantee gluten-free. Instead, they went above and beyond to accommodate us. The burgers are great, and they have a wild selection of combination of things to put inside of burgers, i tried someones jalepeno popper one. I took one bite and pulled the popper out, apparently there were only two, so there were some hurt feelings. It was delicious. I love their caramel milk shakes with the whipped cream and the sprinkles, very festive. The onion rings were crisp and held together, unlike someplaces where the breading falls off the onion. I am a basic burger person, $9.00 for a bacon cheeseburger, which is the ala cart price, is a little overpriced for a regular burger. So, total price for me was $20 plus tip for a burger, onion rings and shake. I ate there and no one offered me water. I get it I had a milkshake, but I get thirsty too. read more

Meh. I don't think Jaspers is there yet. I love the idea of exotic meat but everything else is pretty cheap. The tomato and lettuce aren't very good and I was really disappointed with the bun. Severs were incredibly disrespectful towards us and make rude comments about how much of a burden we were to them for showing up 50 minutes till closing with a group of 6. As far as I am accustomed you seat customers till closing, if they want to leave by 8 close at 6:30! Basically rushed us to order after 2 minutes of getting to the table and rushed us to pay so they could shit down the machines. The food here is great but the service is superb. The people who own the place and the people who serve you act as if they just love having you eating here. You don't see attitudes like this much anymore. They made a mistake on our order, apologized profusely and didn't charge my friend for her meal. Then they gave us free ice cream for dessert. The place was crowded and very busy but the servers and the owner kept up with everything, chatting with those waiting, talking to people at their tables, saying goodbye when we left. Located alongside the road of a sleepy city, Jaspers is a local diner with plentiful outdoor seating. It has a very much mom and pop feel to the restaurant and while the atmosphere seem very traditional their menu is anything but. They specialize in exotic burgers and have everything from bison to elk to kangaroo. My friend and I split the kangaroo and shared some french fries that were deep friend in peanut oil. I enjoyed the meal and while french fries usually take a supporting role in a meal - these were really really good. Definitely order that! read more

I can't say much for the size of the establishment or the outside seating filled with bugs and windy conditions but the burgers here kick ass. I like the gourmet variety and the traditional burger choices they offer. Their malts and shakes are plentiful and sinful also. Lots of choices to add a notch on your belt! I had the Boar BQ, a wild boar burger. Man, that was good! My bro liked his Elk burger also. The poppers are amazing!!!! I was disappointed with the traditional fries though. You can pass on them, trust me! Definitely get a malt. They allow you to mix them up also. I like that! I just got a Kahlua malt though but next time I'll miss the berries up. Good find! Hungry, driving without direction through a part of town that is sparsely dotted with anything and whoosh, what was that? Did that sign say "Thank you for supporting local business"? That's for me. One u-turn and a brief drive back to Japser's had no idea what I was in for. I was welcomed with effusive enthusiasm that was 100% genuine. The server sat down next to me and answered my questions, validated my choices, made me feel special. Then I waited, and okay yes it was a kind of long wait but not ridiculously long. It was the kind of long where you know it's because they are making everything fresh. I went inside to wash up and the place was spotless. Bathroom very nice, in fact a kid was just done cleaning it. The sign inside said the shake of the day was apple pie. Apple pie! And two oldsters at a table near me had butterscotch. Butterscotch! Other shakes that caught me eye: almond Roca, blackberry, huckleberry. There are many others. Check out my photo of the menu. No way I can represent it in my narrative, so take a look. Tried if for the first time since moving to Medford. I ordered a regular cheese burger just to taste the beef without all the other options they offer. It was just ok not much taste. Got a little sloppy toward the end. Toasting the bun might have helped. My wife got the pork pot stickers and she enjoyed them. Can't complain about the service, very attentive. It's a small place but they also have outdoor seating. They were VERY busy but everything was prompt and good service. The Honey bourbon bacon burger was good and flavorful but the menu said $9 and we were charged $9.50. The Gengis Kahn had siracha aioli, chili sauce and potstickers. It was interesting, but needed more flavor. I didn't taste any sauce, but it was on there. Also, it was listed outside in chalk as the daily special at $10 and we were charged $10.50. So they should have gotten that correct. I didn't notice until we left. And .50 each isn't much, but just watch the charges. You don't get fries or anything with the burgers. Our bottles of beer were overpriced at $5.50 each. I wouldn't order a beer again as that's way too much for a bottle. We will try again as they have some interesting options. read more

The menu consists of well over 40 types of burgers, including wild boar, elk, kangaroo, and kobe beef. There are also classic beef burgers, turkey burgers and a veggie burger (although I don't think the veggie patty is made in-house). My favorite thing to order, however, is the Jamaican jerk chicken sandwich. It was perfectly spicy with complex flavors, balanced with sweet mango. Jasper's also offers a nice selection of milkshakes and malts. I like the chai milkshake for its beautiful blend of sweetness and spice! Chocolate peanut butter isn't a bad way to go, either... Stopped by here after hearing they have great burgers. The building looks older and unimpressive as you drive up, but I can live with that. The place itself is very small, only 5 tables inside and a handful more outside. There was a line to place to-go orders (if you sit at a table they wait on you). There were no tables so we decided to get our food to-go. The service was super-friendly and attentive, I really liked everyone we interacted with. It was very, very busy and we waiting at least 30 minutes for our food. They brought our drink and milkshake (got a coconut shake, it was delicious! I can't wait to try another flavor next time!). And they offered to bring our food to our car since we ordered to-go. I ordered the Bleu Grit - a beef burger with mushrooms sauteed in steak sauce, onion crisps, blue cheese and ranch. It was fantastic. I think the onion crisps were just french's fried onions like you would put on a casserole, but the burger was still great. The burger was cooked pretty well done, but it was still juicy not dry and I liked it. My husband ordered a buffalo burger, he also liked it and ate every bite. Again, a little well done but not bad, just should have been a little rarer. He also ordered sweet potato fries. They were fresh, thick cut and cooked perfectly. If you are ever in Medford: you MUST go here. Friendly service and great burgers. But what I really love about the burgers is that there are SO MANY options. Even Portland does not a offer a burger joint anything like this. Ever had a Himalayan Antelope burger? I didn't think so. Seriously, the amount of meats and number of off-the-wall ingredients here is staggering. I don't know what Portland has against non-beef-chicken-pork-fish-shellfish meats, but they are quite hard to find in a place that considers itself a diverse food mecca. I was in Medford for work, for a couple months, I had almost every type of meat they offer. All were excellent. Great place to sit outside at during the summer too, soak up that sweet, sexy, Southern Oregon air! If you're really boring and just want a classic, boring cheeseburger, they do those too! My wife convinced me to try Jasper's on the recommendation a co-worker of hers. I was craving a good burger and fries, so we loaded up and grabbed our 17 year old son. I was slightly apprehensive based on the pricing listed on the menu, but figured it would be worth it since we though it would really hit the spot. Three burgers, three waters, 1 large fry, and 1 large tater tots... totals about $60... The burgers came out, my son's bourbon bacon burger was ok, nothing special, but not bad. My wife's MOAB was good, messy, but pretty satisfying. It wasn't good enough to vouch for a referral to a friend, but good enough. I got the Widowmaker. It was HORRIBLE! I mean gross, funky, yuck... I called the attention of the server, and asked to confirm if it was made with beef (they have other options). I let her know that it tasted super gamey and funky... kind of like goat cheese on mutton (which was also paired with avocado and a unique peanut butter bbq sauce). The server said she would confirm that it was beef and asked me if I am familiar with the flavor of gouda (I certainly am). She asked me if I wanted it re-made (I responded "no" since the rest of my crew was done eating). She had it re-made anyhow and said that she would discount the bill. I reasserted that I was not really interested in another try since it left a bad taste in my mouth and we were ready for the check. She brought the check and told me the burger would be ready in 15 minutes. She discounted the burger by 45% ( no idea where that number came from), and our burger was ready to wrap and take with us as they brought my credit card back. I may try a bite of the remake... I may give it to one of my teenagers.... I may just throw it away. It was that gross. I will not be back to Jasper's. I am that frustrated with lack of service, and insistence on a re-make rather than removing from the check. I can not recommend Jaspers to friends, colleagues, or anyone else for the combination of the two reasons above. I have yet to have something from here that I did not thoroughly enjoy. Though personally I feel I should give them one star so you guys don't go taken up all the seats. This place can get packed around normal meal times, especially Saturday and Sunday, so expect to share a table if its only one or two of you. The staff is very attentive, and do listen to customers and read the suggestion cards. They are currently in the works on a new goat cheese burger per many customer requests. Now the food... What a find! We just pulled off the freeway and found a highly rated burger joint on yelp. I had the blue grit burger. It featured mushrooms cooked in steak sauce as well as blue cheese and crispy onion strings. These were unique toppings that complimented but did not overshadow a juicy and flavorful burger patty. I think we may have ordered the wrong thing?? We didnt have the same experience as the other reviewers. We ordered: Popper burger: the jalapeno poppers tasted odd on the burger. The cream cheese was very overwhelming. Couldnt really taste much else. Fresh fries: Just alright. Not really seasoned and pretty greasy. Hotel California burger: was supposed to have avacado, arugala and goat cheese. Had a weird Asian sauce on it? (Like teriyaki mixed with soy?) The sauce mixed with the goat cheese was awful. Garden salad: very good! Fresh vegetables and tasty blue cheese dressing. Oreo shake: bomb. I would come back just for the shake. Service: Our waitress seemed really lost? She kept having to ask questions everytime we asked her something. She didnt really check on us....we kept having to stop someone else. This place has the elements of a cool little burger joint. I ordered the jiffy burger with sweet potato fries and came with a refillable fountain soda. The burger was an irregular shape, indicating hand fashioned, real meat, not a processed patty. Included within is real bacon (2) and peanut butter on two fluffy buns. Yup, peanut butter. It works. Although skeptical at first, it made for an interesting flavor combo. Usually I'm a fry guy, but the burger won out as incredibly satisfying. It's like a step back into the 70's. Bench style seating inside and out. If it gets cold outside, you can request blankets. Minus 1 star for "forgetting" to give me the happy hour pricing. I could tell by the server's reaction of surprise that I caught it, not that she failed to apply the rate. I still tipped 20% for the good food and attentive service. Such unique meat choices!! Everything was great, friendly service and delectable food. We got all the meats options, and listing from favorite on downward: elk meat with Smoky & The Bandit, kangaroo meat with Hotel California, Bison with Curly Bill, and wild boar with MOAB. The elk meat is next level, hard to describe but essentially rich in flavor but not in lipids. Kangaroo is soooo juicy! We've had bison before in Catalina Island, CA and this one tasted better. We've also had wild boar in Sapa, Viet Nam and I would say they are tied in terms of flavor. The shakes were super yummy too! We got Huckleberry, Chai, and Almond Roca. All of them were delicious, but the Huckleberry one is exceptional, it hits so many notes with hints of tartness to complement the sweet that only real fruits can give and lasting creaminess.
