Small cafe in a small town. I think that pretty much sums it up, but you probably want me to talk about the food, don't you? Well, it is served by two or three rather attractive young women. Honestly, I wasn't keeping count. Basically, a small business like this is welcome especially when you have larger corporations holding a monopoly. Java Haus even serves sandwiches, making it kind of like a mini restaurant. It was a hot summer day, and I ordered a whole turkey bacon ranch sandwich and a 12 oz. chocolate milkshake. Both items were made by them after my order and were on point, although they probably gave me more calories than I needed. Then they tossed in a bag of chips to further contribute to my weight gain. I've been here several times over the years and because there's always so much time between visits I tend to forget the experience by the time I visit again. Then once the visit is over, I think, "oh yah! I wasn't crazy about this place last time". Today I had the Porky Something Or Other On A Ranch (I forget it's real name) It was basically ham, bacon, tomato, lettuce and ranch dressing on bread. It sounds delicious. It wasn't. First of all, the bread was a huge hoagie bun, it was WAY too much bread for the amount of filling. There were 4 or five lunch meat thickness slices of ham (which is very thin) and perhaps 3 slices of very thin bacon on the sandwich. The meat was overwhelmed and lost in the mountain of bread. It was also greasy. I got the full sandwich, which because and only because of the bread, was a huge sandwich. On to the service. While I was at the window there were three women I could see working. I was there for a good 10 minutes. I even turned my car off not wanting to waste more gas. While I was at the window they were talking about crocheting and youtube and all kinds of things, but not once did they acknowledge me after I was given my change until they gave me my sandwich. I won't be going again. I didn't give this a 1 star (though I thought about it) because the sandwich wasn't terrible and the staff wasn't meaning to be rude, but the sandwich really wasn't very good and the staff was rude by neglect. read more

Been here twice, the first time we ordered the ham and cheese sandwich and the club. They were both tasty, but they forgot to include the chips. The second time we came was this morning and we ordered the biscuits and gravy. So terrible. The biscuits were still frozen and so everything was cold. Weird flavor to the gravy. read more

I've been here many times for espresso and sandwiches. The coffee is pretty decent; rich and aromatic without being burnt or ashy-tasting, like That Coffee Chain Whose Name Shall Remain Unmentioned. The sandwiches are good, when they make them the way you order them. I don't visit anymore, though. Why? They used to have a smart barista working the window, who could actually remember a complex order without writing it down. I expect Smart Barista moved on to bigger and brighter pursuits, because she's never there anymore. Instead, Dumb Barista with her blue or purple or whatever hair listens to your order, writes NOTHING down, and can't remember a damned thing. "Oh, did you say decaf?" Yes. I did. "Oh, I didn't hear you say 2%." "Oh, it has mayo on it? I totally told her to leave the mayo off." After a couple of times ordering a grande decaf mocha with 2% milk, and a two-egg sandwich on rye with no mayo...and getting a grande nonfat full-caffeine mocha and a two-egg sandwich on wheat with plenty of mayo, I give up, folks. The few times I've been here I have not had good experiences. The first time my sister & I went inside to eat breakfast & get coffee. We got the coffees but waited 1/2 an hour for our breakfast sandwiches. When they still didn't come, my sister went to the counter & asked where they were. They said they were coming right up & then looked to be shuffling around, looking for our receipt in back. After about 5 more minutes they came to ask us what we had ordered. I was 9 months pregnant & starving, otherwise I wouldn't have waited any longer. Luckily they were good sandwiches & they gave us 2 full punch cards for free coffees. The next time I went through the drive thru & ordered a 20oz iced coffee, which was 3/4 of the way full of ice! So I pretty much paid $4.50 for a cup of ice & $1 worth of coffee that was way too sweet anyway. Won't be ordering iced coffee there anymore. read more

After driving past Java Haus for years, I stopped in and ordered a half sandwich. The girls were nice, place was cute, but after waiting 15 minutes for a half sandwich (other diners already had their food, so I was it.) I left with my "to-go" order. Disappointed that the toasted roll was clearly burned. Great location, good menu options, but kind of a bummer that they're not very attentive to service. read more

I'm a coffee guy, and have been here often. Every time I give it a second (third fourth fifth) try I am reminded why I don't go back. the coffee is not bad but they don't know how to pull a shot and just today I had grounds in my mocha. now it's rare to get grounds in your coffee from a shot. I want to rate these guys higher but I am not a big fan. Now remember.. this two star rating it just for the coffee. they do have good soup and it's a nice little spot to meet up with someone for a quick visit. they do have a small area for seating. read more

I bought an espresso milkshake today and the blonde woman working who made the shake was EXTREMELY rude. The espresso milkshake had no coffee flavor to it, it tasted like cold milk. I went back in to ask if they could please add more coffee, she added one shot of espresso, stirred it 3 times with a spoon, slid it back across the counter with force, muttered 'have a nice day' and then stormed off further into the back room, so I just left. I don't know if it was the hot day or my request that put her in a bad mood, and I've normally enjoyed the drinks/service here, but I won't be back. read more

Before the wedding, James was very communicative and met with us to discuss what we wanted. He set up a plan and made sure we had all the details nailed down. Day of the wedding, his team was there early to setup, and they made everything run so smooth. They worked with our other vendors to make sure everyone knew the plans. We just hired Java Haus to cater our daughter's wedding at Swans Trail Farms on September 7 for 250 guests. We had looked at many catering companies and were blown away by how expensive it was to feed a large group ($12,000++). We opted with Java Haus because they were less than half the cost of the other places we checked with. We were a little concerned the food and presentation might not be that great since they were less expensive, or that it would be like cafeteria food etc. We chose to serve heavy hors d'oeuvres buffet style since it was an early evening wedding and people would be expecting dinner, but we didn't want a formal sit down dinner. We ordered the sweet n sour meatballs, teriyaki chicken skewers, barbecue pulled pork sliders, cellentani pasta salad, smoked chicken salad with mixed greens, fruit tray and smoked salmon mousse on rye. The food was awesome, above and beyond what we expected!! AND there was plenty. We were worried that they would run out of food, but people were going back for seconds, teenage boys were piling their plates high, and there were leftovers. We even got to take the leftovers home with us which our family enjoyed for several days (many catering companies do not let you do this). They made up a special container for the bride and groom to take with them on their honeymoon, which they ate for a late dinner and breakfast the next day. We can't say enough about Java Haus and highly recommend them to anyone considering using them for a wedding or special event!! They have an exceptional catering that I have experienced, from weddings large business functions, or just a small food to go platters. Okay coffee. I came here a few weeks ago and ordered a carmel mocha frappe. It tasted a little too sweet and had a less of a coffee flavor to it. I was a little bummed out however they have TONS of delicious looking items on the menu that isn't just coffee. I love how its a cute little walk in cafe with chairs and tables inside to sit and eat! This cafe is okay, it's very hit or miss. Half the time I don't get what I ordered. For example I ordered a club sandwich and I got a BLT. Not a big deal if it didn't happen so often. I think that their baristas maybe need a bit more training because their coffee isn't the greatest. Some of the employees are also not very friendly. read more

Decent coffee if you're just stopping by to get a drink. If you plan on buying a pound of coffee from them you will receive only 14 ounces not 16 ounces. I've been going to this place for over a year but in the last six months there amount of coffee per pound has been consistently 14 ounces. So that means over the last few months I paid for someone else's bag. When I asked about the exacting number of 14 ounces they told me it was a pound. It seems very shady to me sorry. read more

James and his team executed a great dinner and bar service without any day - of requirements by myself or my wife, allowing us to enjoy our wedding and a phenomenal meal. The overall price was well under other caterers we looked into and the food was better. Don't let yourself think that because the Java Haus is primarily a coffee/sandwich shop (delicious as well) that James' catering might not fit a wedding style. The one good thing about Java Haus is that it's right between my house and work. In fact, a friend and I have an ongoing joke about how its convenience sometimes lures us back in only to leave us continually disappointed by crappy guest service and mediocre espresso. I'll admit that I have friends who love this place--the coffee, the baristas, food--so they're apparently nice to someone, but my experiences regularly include feeling like my business is an interruption to the barista's day. I feel like I should order saying, "Hey sorry to bug you, do you have time to make me a 12oz latte?" Last time (the last time I'll go, I swear), when I handed her a $4 tip (bribing her to be nice to me next time) on a breakfast sandwich and one latte (was actually a mocha--second time I'd received the wrong drink there), she grabbed it and said, "okay." Not even thank you. Maybe I'm hyper sensitive because I work in guest service but frankly, from now on I'm going to drive out of my way to go to The Coffee Bean instead, where the baristas know how to make coffee, smile, and have manners. read more

Chef James catered me and my wife's wedding this past weekend at Swans Trail Farm in Snohomish. There is no other way to put it than to say that the job done by James and his crew was perfect. Leading up to the wedding James was extremely easy to work with and communicating with him was a breeze. James put together a menu for the 100 guests we had attending that was wonderful and more than reasonably priced. On the wedding day James and his crew's performance was seamless. They were on time, professional and came through with precisely what was promised to us. Our menu consisted of BBQ chicken, pulled pork sliders, cole slaw, baked beans, fruit salad, cornbread muffins with honey butter and James even added in a baked potato bar which was an excellent idea. James also provided huge ice cold serving jugs of water, iced tea and strawberry lemonade. All of the food provided was excellent and positive feedback was received from plenty of guests. James and his crew also cleaned up and packed away everything before they left leaving us with nothing to worry about. I would give my highest recommendations to James when it comes to catering. He is a consummate professional with extensive experience in the restaurant industry and will go the extra mile to make your day perfect. We have also eaten breakfast at the Java Haus coffee shop while meeting with James to discuss catering and we love the food there as well. read more

Granted I have only had things off of the breakfast menu but everything I have ordered was around eight dollars and something I could have easily made myself at home and probably would have tasted better if I did. The food and drinks are great, but consistency is not a thing they do well here. Sometimes a whole gluten free sandwich involves two small sandwiches (because each one is about half the size of a normal sandwich), other times it's one. Sometimes chips come with sandwiches, other times they don't. And today was a straight up disaster where I called in my order for a gluten free EBLT and they gave me one with no egg. Oy vey. They were saying they were busy, but I've worked in busy places before where we apologize for things taking a bit longer than usual, but don't get overly flustered by it. I'll keep coming back because it is wonderful food and the gluten free bread is amazing, but I'll just have to give a lot more direction when I place my order. read more

We had the Java Haus cater a retirement party for an associate. James had impeccible communication and made me feel like he always had time for my questions or concerns. He really made the planning process easy for me (party planning is NOT my thing). The food was delivered to our office before the event. The woman was even kind enough to make adorable hand written signs for each food item (on cute mini chalk easels). Everyone raved about the food! I think I spent half the night receiving compliments about how wonderful it all tasted. It truly made the party special for my associate. We just had James cater our daughters wedding and he did an outstanding job! He was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end, always had a smile on his face, loaned us commercial coolers that were needed onsite at no extra charge and the food was great. We served 190 guests, had prime rib and salmon as the main course and had many compliments. James staff was efficient and respectful. I would highly recommend James/Java Haus to cater any event. Incidentally, his coffee and food at the restaurant beat the heck out of Starbucks any day. read more
