Breakfast sandwich with pimento cheese on everything bagel
    Christina L.

The location is convenient if you are coming or going from Seabrook or Kiawah Island! We got breakfast to go on our way out of town. I had a breakfast sandwich with pimento cheese on a bagel. It was really cheesy and the bagel was soft and there were a ton of caramelized onions on it; I like caramelized onions, but it definitely dominated the flavor. The blueberry muffin had a crispy top with turbinado style sugar and great flavor. The chocolate chip scone had good flavor but the texture was very dry and almost too crumbly to eat.

The coffee shop was not busy when I was there around 2 pm. The guy behind the counter was friendly and taking my order promptly. I ordered half caffeinated iced lavender latte and I liked it.

I would say this shop is nice and is always busy. It is centrally located in Kiawah Island Freshfield Village. The coffee is good. Indoor and outdoor seating. The service is a hit or miss. It seems to be employed by young college students. Some are very nice, but some are a little stand-off-ish, rushed, and rude. I've had varied experiences. I think it's great that there are more options for coffee on Kiawah Island for coffee now. You get a better comparison of services and offerings. I recommend trying all.

Everyone is unhappy that they're at Kiawah but it's raining. LOL!

Nice little coffee shop on Kiawah, at Fresh Fields. Kind of cool to sit there surrounded by tourists, knowing that we get to live in paradise. Service was friendly, food and drinks were decent, it was crowded the day we went, as it was raining and probably the tourists had nothing to do but wander the shops. But we still found a table and never felt rushed to leave. If you're in the area definitely stop by for a refreshment.

I'm not quite sure what more you want out of a little island cafe. Friendly service? Yes. Cute locale? Yes. Great coffee and cold brew? Yep. And even better, fresh breakfast sandwiches. Really enjoyed the classic: BEC. All in all, the perfect morning pick me up. And judging by the crowd there in the morning, others agree too. A good find and exactly what I would want out of a vacation cafe.

Small modern coffee shop. Small food menu but really good coffees. Sweet baristas. I highly recommend the frozen iced vanilla latte. Best coffee I've had it takes like milkshake.

Coffee and breakfast this morning because no one wanted to cook and the coffee machine made some "interesting" brown liquid. We headed to Java Java as the best coffee shop in the area. I think it's also the only in the area, but never mind that. A short queue to place our orders. Printed menus and one up on the wall as well. The restaurant was busy but a table opened up at the right time and we were able to enjoy air conditioning rather than outside. Coffee was good. A single origin Honduran was rich and full of caffeine. I chose the lox bagel which was okay. A plain bagel with some red onion, scallion cream cheese and a few slices of salmon that was all put into a panini press. Tasty and good enough for breakfast in the South. A proper Yankee would never do it this way but we have a higher bar for such things. Busy coffee shop, good coffee, reasonable bagel. I'm a fan. [Review 11598 overall, 1378 of 2019.]

Java Java is solid but not outstanding. This evaluation covers the coffee, the food, and the customer service. The staff tend to be young and harried (though also competent). The coffee is good. I appreciate their large selection of different food options. I have always been satisfied but somehow never 'wowed'

There is a trolly tour that's offered for about $18/pp which takes you around the plantation. Since we arrived late in the day, we opted not to do the trolly tour, but instead, toured the gift shop, sampled all the hot and cold teas (I think there were 12 samples), and took the 15 minute FREE factory tour. The teas? delicious! The tour? Super educational! It was great learning how tea grows, harvested, and processed. Whether you're a tea drinker or not, you will love stopping here. And if you're not in a rush, go sit in a rocker under the trees, or at one of the many picnic tables. Enjoy the fresh air and the sound of the birds. You won't be disappointed!

To get a feel for what they have to offer go into the little store that is on the pathway from the parking lot. Once you are inside, ask any questions that you may have to the person at the register or any personnel there they will happily introduce you to what they have to offer. They have bus tours that you can take to see the tea gardens if desired or just explore on foot. The bus tour will tell you about the different kinds of teas grown there and let you see it close up yourself. The store itself is a fun place to shop with unique gifts and there is also a place to try out some of the different teas that are in dispensers for tasting. The store is stocked with a variety of the teas they produce and popular ones from other major producers as well. I looked at all the different teas for sale and China cups and tea accessories. I ended up buying a tea strainer the kind I couldn't find in my local tea shop among other things. Sip and walk around to explore the store or take your tea outside and sit on the big porch overlooking the Tea Groves, It is very peaceful out there. After I went to the store, I stepped outside and walked across the street to explore the tea groves and look at the huge metal cup and straw and other artwork on the lawn. They are unique. It was a sunny day, so it was perfect for exploring on foot, although I could have probably seen the tea bushes more if I had gotten on the bus tour that they offer various times of the day, but I felt like just walking around and seeing everything. It is a pleasant way to spend a few hours of your day. Especially if you want to take in other places to site see that day. I enjoyed my time there getting outside to get some sunshine and see the tea and get in a little shopping indoors. I spent probably two hours there. It is a good way to relax in nature. I would stop in again when I come back to the area. It is something unique that would be perfect for a person that has a few hours to spend and enjoy a cup of tea.

Anyone who's stayed on either Seabrook or Kiawah Island is most likely intimately familiar with this Harris Teeter. On many visits, we've found this store to be relatively well-stocked. However, the week before Easter was definitely a busy one for this store, and they were cleaned out of a lot of their typical offerings. For example, their take-and-bake pizzas are an easy and decent dinner after a day at the beach, but to our surprise, there were none left when we stopped in around 5 PM on a Wednesday. I'm confident that this not a regular occurrence - but something to note if you're visiting during the busy season. I will echo other reviewers that mentioned narrow aisles and an interesting layout. This store is definitely on the smaller side, and can feel crowded when there's multiple people in one aisle. One way to avoid this is shopping outside of peak hours ... early in the morning our later at night. The cashiers are mostly friendly and always fast. If you come from a state with Kroger or Fry's instead of Harris Teeter, rest assured that you can still input your phone number for your shopper rewards. Another positive is that I haven't noticed a difference in prices from this store and non-touristy grocery stores. Again, it does the trick for being the only grocery store at Freshfields. However, it could certainly use a little love and a few updates.
