When called back the young lady that took the order said she was sorry their phone cuts out a lot and she didn't hear all the toppings. They also failed to include sour cream for pizza skins as requested. Phone cuts out??? How about repairing the phone, repeating order, and try to satisfy customer for your short comings??? ) Price: 2 ( over $30 for a medium 1 topping pie, an order of pizza skins and a couple shakes. The medium pizza is smaller than a standard frozen pizza and the shakes were 16 oz. ) At the end of the day the pizza was good. We went twice on our honeymoon-- Friday the service was pretty fast, but Saturday we went during a busy time and had a wait (not the biggest deal for us, but some nearby tables were pretty rude to the waitresses about their wait). The server did not check on us once, to give us an update on our order or even to refill my coffee. We had to stop her just to find out what was going on. It took 45 minutes for our food to get to the table, with barely an apology. Besides that, the food was just so-so. The owner is very personable, but his staff is lacking in professionalism. Joe gets an overall 5-star rating because of two 4-star visits - one to buy some tasty granola and another for dinner. Joe is a cool dude and very friendly. He gave us a good map to tour around the UP and added his own commentary on places to visit! The menu is huge with lots of variations on the breakfast theme which is served all day. I had the turkey/bacon/avocado crepe which was awesome and my wife had the lobsert omelette. Kids had pancakes and waffles. We ended up buying four bags of granola to take home with us. The whole place has a great atmosphere and I could imagine stopping in there on a regular basis to keep sampling the menu. There are plenty of bad/unimaginative/tourist-trappy places in St. Ignace, so skip those and go to Joe's! read more

I usually cut a restaurant a lot of slack when I see they're really busy. Not their fault I picked a busy time to visit. However... Joe's only seemed to have one waitress working the whole place. There was a crowd, and I'm sure she did her best. However, this is a coffee shop, right? We started to order "fancy" coffees, lattes, only to be told the machine was broken, and all they had was plain coffee. We ordered that, along with a yogurt parfait and a plate of blueberry crepes. It took forever to get the food, and our coffees were nearly gone when it arrived, yet we were never offered refills. I noted the apparent regulars that carried on long conversations with the waitress did get the refills, and her attention. Guess you need to know someone. When we sat without coffee and never got a bill, we finally just went to the counter, noted our lack of bill, paid and left. Our food and coffee was good, but the service will prevent our return. The morning I visited java Joe's was extremely busy. People were lined up a bit. This was my solo trip with just my 25 lbs dog. I was reminded that I had to sit out on the patio which I already knew and had asked "if I could sit outside with my dog." The owner who was very nice forgot about me but apologized profusely after realizing it. The waitress brought me coffee but no cream or sugar and I had to wait a while for her to come back so I can ask for them. She could have been kinder but overall I got my coffee and my food and enjoyed the morning with my dog. I had Nutella crepes which was fine. Overall the town is not dog friendly. Eggs were not cooked to order, bacon was 2 tiny slivers of paper thin meat, English muffin smelled odd, pancakes were bland and bananas inside were mush and looked like snot. We discovered Java Joe's a couple of years ago thanks to Yelp. We come up to St. Ignace about 3-4 times a year and eat here at least a couple of times each summer, so yeah, we like it. I can agree with many things others have said in their reviews: eclectic, fun decor; Joe is a nice, amiable guy; food is pretty good (not that we've been able try too much off of the 4-page menu!), service can be slow from the young waitresses. I'll have to say my omelet I had this last time was more 'ok' than great and the coffee didn't have much flavor. A bit disappointing, so I'm hoping it was just an off day. Next time I'm definitely going to try one of the sweeter breakfast items like pancakes, crepes or French toast. read more

Dropped in to grab coffee one summer morning in St. Ignace. This is a cute little cafe in town and looked like one of the few places to grab a specialty coffee. The cafe is small especially for the amount of people who seemed in attendance for breakfast. It was quite busy when we stopped in. We ordered coffee to go, which a lot of other people were also doing. However, we waited at least 20 minutes or more from placing our order until we received our coffees. While we waited we also noticed that a customer who had arrived before us had not received their coffee by the time we were leaving, and another patron had waited approximately the same amount of time as us for just a regular black coffee. For the busy weekend coffee rush, I think they would benefit from having extra staffing for the barista area. I was curious as to what the dine in breakfast area experience was like. This cafe had a lot of potential, the coffee was good and fairly priced, and they do offer indoor and outdoor seating. read more

He LOVED the pancake and said the omelette was very good. I ordered the eggs benedict with smoked whitefish--absolutely INCREDIBLE. I also ordered a side of the granola pancake with strawberries--delicious. Somewhat disappointed, or more surprised I suppose, that the strawberries weren't fresh (just the syrupy kind) but it was still so yummy and actually added more flavor then. The best mac and cheese out there! Ohhhh so good! We went to Java Joe's after a 5 hour mountain bike before breakfast. You can imagine our hunger level. I got a little overwhelmed by the insanely large menu but decided on the Mac n Cheese and by boyfriend on the traditional breakfast. Both plates would have been enough to share and delicious enough to not really want to! Mocca and Chai were really good to. Good enough to repeat the visit a few days later ignoring the 'closed' sign in Yelp. Thankfully they open until 10 pm during the summer and 8 pm on winter. read more

Jimmy Buffet is playing the entire time and the place is decorated with the cutest cookie jars and photos of people eating monster strawberry shortcakes. I usually don't write reviews, but I had to for this restaurant. Service was very slow, we went in on a Wednesday morning and it wasn't that busy, but we didn't get are 2 omelets till 45 minutes later. I ordered an omelette with egg whites only which was very difficult to get with egg white only do to the Chef, I was told she's very difficult to deal with and she wouldn't do it... so I asked the waitress to speak to the manager, which turned out to be the owner and he said "no worries we can make it with egg whites only" I also wanted mozzarella cheese with it and again the waitress insisted on American cheese cause the Chef makes it that way, but then told me she'll put it in the notes, so 45 minutes later I got my omelette with no egg whites it had yolk and with American cheese.... the waitress came to check up on us and I told her it's not what I asked for she was very apologetic and said that the chef is very difficult and basically we can't tell her much and there's not much that can be done. It's like seriously if the Chef is that miserable and hates her job so much she doesn't have to work there... also, it's not like we're getting free food for her to do what she wants and not do what the customer want. After all if they get rid of that miserable chef It will be a great restaurant to eat at the rest of the staff were super nice and friendly including the owner, but he also tend not to have control over that chef. read more

Went two times over our weekend. The first day was great, we stopped in for coffee and the owner helped us. Our last day in town we decided to walk over and get breakfast to go. We were told that we could not order take out, we decided to sit down and order then ask for boxes to go. I had to walk back inside three times because our server was no where to be found. The first was for creamer, the second silverware for our food and then just to get our bill. Our original server that took our order was never seen the rest of our visit and no one ever checked in on us. When going back inside to pay our bill a waitress made a comment to the head server how a table hadn't even been helped yet. Her response was "It's not my problem". The cafe is ultra cozy -- it made me feel more like I was at someone's home than anything else. The owners were fantastic, guiding me through the menu and giving me great anecdotes. Fantastic joint to grab a coffee or some food. We only had breakfast which seems like their specialty. The food was super tasty and what you would expect from a breakfast joint the coffee is good too. The place is decked out super funky with it's paint job (A Dr. Seuss mural on the floor) and trinkets all over the dining room. I came in for a coffee each morning during my stay on the area.
