Friendly staff, good coffee and pastries. A Hermosa morning staple... Service is fast, the people that work there are great and they have morning pick me ups that people need. We've been twice... Both times we were spending the weekend on The Strand so that walk up to Java Man was needed. They have a few small tables outside and some benches closer to the sidewalk. The lady likes to get her morning coffee here and I like my crumb cake. Recently, we stopped in before the beach and she got an iced latte ($5.75) and a hefty sized rice krispie treat ($4.50) They're located on Pier Ave just up the hill from Hermosa Pier. Ordered a cold white chocolate oat milk double shot latte. It's okay. I don't have much to say about it, as it was very typical. Only pleasant thing was that it wasn't watery or too milky. It came out to about $9 a coffee which is pretty high in my opinion, given the presentation and taste. I was debating on getting a breakfast burrito as it said it was $6 (crazy how a burrito is cheaper than a latte nowadays..), but now that I've read the reviews for the burrito, I'm not sure I'll bother. read more

This place was lovely for studying. Lovely choice of menu, locally owned. I want to try all of the drinks and all of the yummy looking pastries. However, the homemade breakfast burrito was only $6, which is unheard of in this area! It did need a bit more seasoning but I also came with fresh salsa and there was plenty of fixings available. Pros: Big, lots of table space and outlets. Good for studying. Extensive menu, good prices Jovial service :) Host local improv events. Nested only a few blocks away from the beach but in a relatively quieter area, the location is a perfect combo of convenience and peace. I came on a Sunday late morning, ordered a whole wheat bagel served with cream cheese with an iced coffee and sat down doing some work for a good 1.5 hours. Half of the seats were empty with the majority of customers lining up for to go orders. The food and drink were delicious, and the whole atmosphere was a perfect substitute for Starbucks across PCH. There's not much space in the front so you have to kind of squeeze in to see the menu and bakery items. The chalkboard menu is a bit assaulting to the eyes so if it's your first time, you may want to spend a few moments to familiarize yourself. I just ordered a talk cappuccino and they made it very quickly even though there were more than a few orders at that time. The interior provides several large wooden tables for chilling out, or reading newspapers or magazines. The tall Cap was smooth and easy. Definitely would come back here. read more

Looking for a coffee shop on a Friday morning, I wandered into Java Man. The pastry selection was so tempting, but the Coconut Pineapple Coffee Cake grabbed my attention. I got that and a chorizo breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito came with a cup of salsa and was light and delicious, but it wasn't as packed as the breakfast burritos I'm used to having. Most of its flavor had to come from the salsa. The Coconut Pineapple Coffee Cake has a crunchy crumble topping and the cake is very soft. It literally tastes like eating a Piña Colada! Great coffee shop! They have amazing food, coffee, & tea! I've gone here the past three days for breakfast and a Matcha latte. I ordered the egg white turkey breakfast burrito which is so good and comes with a side of salsa. The burrito itself is very simple but I love the taste. I've also ordered a low fat boysenberry muffin and it was heated. Parking has never been a problem. I just park in the 15 minute spot to the left of the business. The have a bathroom inside as well. Prices are reasonable. If you are able to sit and hang out, they have a cute area inside the coffee shop with couches and tables where you could work or just sit, relax and drink your coffee. But the reason I'm writing this is because javaman, namely the employees on 7/5/25, just literally saved my ass. I lost my work phone outside of the shop (classic Fourth of July blunder, judge me for it) and had essentially given up hope of retrieving it. Just then, like an actual superhero, I got a call from the shop. They had my phone, reached out to me, kept it properly safe, and returned it without making me feel like the absolute idiot I am. I ordered a white chocolate truffle raspberry latte with almond milk and all I could taste was the raspberry syrup (which was thick and cough syrup like consistency). Also the price point wasn't on my side...$7 for a latte that didn't get me hyped wasn't a plus. Over all- cute local SMALL coffee shop feel inside, there isn't much space outside. I had some time to kill and decided to find a coffee shop and maybe a small breakfast. Drove by and found Java Man. Ambiance was cool and location was great. A lot of seating inside and a few seats outside too. Was warmly greeted by the dude behind the counter. They had a big breakfast menu. He recommended the breakfast burritos as being popular. My fav so I went with one. It was ready after a couple minutes. I had high hopes! Sadly, the breakfast burrito was small and microwaved. I could barely rip it from the paper it was wrapped in because it was so sticky. The insides didn't taste good. The salsa it came with didn't help. So that was all super disappointing. I'm sure if I had got a bagel or something it would have been a better experience. Anyway, I may be back but I won't be getting a burrito. Cool vibes otherwise. read more

I work in this area so I come here often. Love the location. Parking is never easy in Hermosa but they have a 15 minute parking which is good to order and leave but it's so nice to just sit and enjoy your coffee and people watch. I like the Avocado toast and all the sweet treats. Coffee is good and the guys who work there are so sweet and patient. I like coming here it's a local spot and I haven't tried many food items yet so I can't comment on that but lines can get long I go around 10:30 or 11 during the week and it's not much of a line. read more

My review is exclusive to their pastries and coffee. This is a friendly neighborhood coffee shop which makes a really good straight forward latte. The gentlemen at the front are very hardworking, welcoming and give a good service with a smile, which is makes this place better than most hipster coffee shops I go to. Both the hot and iced version of lattes are good, not too strong or milky. They offer other drinks including americanos. They also have various milk options including Soy and Oat milk They also have a decent selection of pastries and muffins and bagels. I tried their cinnamon roll and coffee cake. The cinnamon roll had too much glaze and raisins (who puts raisins in a cinnamon roll?). I should deduct stars but I think that would be biased so I won't. The coffee cake reminded me of the ones served at a LAUSD school cafeteria. It brought back memories and made me smile. It was hot fresh and not too sweet. This would be a great place to catch up with a friend since it has an assortment of tables and couches along with tables outside. I have seen people get work or studying done. You can also get food here and I will give an updated review once I tried it. However, note there is no public restroom, since it's on pier ave, parking can be hard to find, and this place gets packed pretty quickly even at 9am on a weekday. So if you plan on coming here to get work done, come early. Otherwise, you are better off taking your drink and enjoying it at the Hermosa Beach Pier. read more
