If this review were just based on the food and coffee, I would find some way to give it TEN stars - it's so, so good, I can't even lie about that. So, I've got an extra star in my rating for that. However, I can't in good conscience give a good review to this place because of what I witnessed there. This happened years ago but it has been burned into my mind ever since. The shop was very busy, and I guess the young lady working the cash register made some kind of mistake. The owner came over to her and started yelling at her, saying "Are you STUPID?!" and humiliating her in front of all the customers and her coworkers. I've never been back. I don't consciously use my money to support people who treat others that way. I hope the owner has learned better leadership skills and empathy for people when they make mistakes. Maybe he has already, but I probably won't ever know because I am simply not going back there after seeing his behavior that day. :( read more

The staff was great!! Very friendly. Inside was cute and a proper little coffee shop! I enjoyed they had some merchandise available as well. The food tasted great!!! Great portion sizes. Coffee is so yummy. The prices are a bit steep, but at the same time you're not getting McDonalds quality and the taste is better. The interior of the cafe is friendly, bright, and full of atmosphere, great for enjoying a cup of coffee. The iced mocha was relatively bland and has little depth of chocolate flavors. The sky's crepe was interestingly tasty, but lacked some seasoning in the fillings. Very hearty portions of meat inside! The beignets are absolutely fantastic. Crispy outside and soft inside. 5 stars for the coffee, food, and service 1 star for location. Only the front half of the restaurant has electricity, so if you need your laptop it will need a full charge. The windows really need blinds or better tint because the red cotton curtains cause the whole place to be pink. This is not a conducive ambiance for working or studying. We moved to Colorado six years ago; and when I asked my boys what places they wanted to visit while we were in Houston, they immediately mentioned Javaman. I ordered a traditional macchiato and the young lady behind the cash register was unsure on how to make it so she asked a co-worker and the co-worker explained the instructions in a mentorship sort of way and as I watched the interactions with the baristas behind the counter I saw a cohesive team willing to help one another which is almost rare these days. Along with the macchiato I ordered an Ortaggio crepe (scallions, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs & cheddar jack cheese) and a Melaburro crepe (apples & apple butter topped with cinnamon, caramel & powdered sugar). The macchiato was strong and refreshing, but the crepe were lacking. The crepes tasted grainy and did not appear to be made in house, but some version of a warmed up crepe out of a package which was very disappointing. I could overlook mediocre food, but I can not overlook the bad attitude of the Owner/Manager. Apparently one of the workers made a simple mistake and instead of using some positive correction or talking to the employee in private, this man proceeds to berate the employee not only in front of her co-workers, but in front of customers also hence the two star review. read more

For starters- RUDE! I initially came to study. I live 40 minutes away and my daughters daycare is near the shop. I stopped by Starbucks on my ride here because it's early and I'm tired right?! I walked in to first ask if there's free wifi. A man came and told me he can't have me in the shop with Starbucks, and asked me to leave. Not knowing I was staying for hours and planned on eating, drinking, and tipping WELL for what I thought was a great environment to study in. Like he didn't even speak first. Wouldn't recommend. We are big fans of Javaman. We used to live in Humble and went more frequently. Now, we may only get there once every six months, but still make it a point to go there if we are at or near Humble on a weekend. We love the food including the crepes, muffins, beignets and cookies. My kids love the nutella crepes and the strawberry crepes. I tried the crepes today that tasted like a warm apple pie and it was delightful. I also enjoy the different coffee drinks. The service is friendly. Even if the service is sometimes slow when they get a new cast of young adults, they are always friendly. If I have any complaints, it is that that the food with the confectioner's sugar is so good that I get it all over my clothes. read more

Living close by is a plus .. Without fail my son and I are at Javaman daily. Jr loves "Flavored Toddys" and I'm a "Decafe" drinker. I watch in massive jealousy as Jr consumes the worlds most delicious CINNAMON ROLLS on this planet.... I on the other hand am restricted to eating a piece of cellery prior to arriving LOL. Pretty awesome coffee shop way out in atascosita. There are a few of these great OTL places that compare with inner loop coffee shops, and this is one of them. One other reviewer indicated their interior decor was New Orleans-themed, but I would call it more of a comforting interior design with dark colors. I came during the mid-morning and ordered an iced coconut mocha coffee. This was a little bit of a weird flavor combination where I didn't really taste much coconut, nor mocha. It was not a strong drink by any means, nor was it overly sugary. I also tried the beignets, and they were just okay. The dough seems to be heavy to me, and not really light, airy or fluffy. They are $3.15 for a plate of 3. Like other reviewers indicated, they're just not as good as cafe du monde, but who is. I sampled my colleagues snickerdoodle cookie and that was pretty yummy. I'll definitely be back to try other lattes, or flavored drinks since they have a ton of combinations. read more
