We are here visiting from Oregon. We wanted to take our daughters out for brunch. We saw that Jay Berry's Cafe' had a 4.4 star rating and we were excited to try! Upon arriving it was very busy which is always a good sign. There were three people on the list ahead of us so we thought that was doable. One of the servers came up to the desk and we asked if it was possible to sit outside and she said yeah, go ahead. Now keep in mind we have our 14 and 15 year-old daughters with us. We go to the outside seating to sit and were told that it was for over 21 and we could not sit there. So we proceeded back inside to get our name on the list now we would be the sixth one on the list. We asked if we could be put in that fourth spot because we were told incorrect information about sitting outside. Now we are speaking to another server which was different than the one before and she was rude, short with us and said I have to take it in order, which is understandable, but we were given bad information by another server and now we have to wait even longer. She was very disrespectful and not willing to listen and was really inappropriate and just short tempered. We put our name on the list and then looked at each other, and said NO we're not going to give our money to a restaurant that clearly didn't want us there. So we left and found another restaurant that was terrific at Countryside Cafe! Food was delicious and the server was kind. Just remember, it costs nothing to be KIND! read more

This is the best breakfast place in the Bellevue/Renton area!! First of all, $4 Bloody Mary's and mimosas.... Also they have a HUGE selection for breakfast. I have never been disappointed with a meal here. There are a lot of traditional options like the pancakes that are made perfectly. I feel sick. I feel angry. I feel like Jay Berries needs a tune up. I ordered lunch today from Jay Berries via Uber Eats. I couldn't take time to go buy lunch, and I've been a patron of this place for over a decade. When my lunch arrived, it had a receipt with it that read "Uber sucks." I cannot tell you how disappointed I was as well as nervous to eat the food I waited 45 minutes to get. When I see verbiage like this- it makes me ponder if the staff has done something to sabotage my food. I attempted to contact the manager and was told that they were unavailable. Hopefully management will see this and decide to grow up and remove the unsettling text from their Uber receipts. I'm also curious.... if Uber sucks, why are you participating in the program? If you're looking for a casual diner for delicious breakfast food, this place is nothing fancy but the food is good! We made reservations cause we know they get busy and was seated within a few minutes of our arrival. $3 Bloody Marys or $3 mimosas for Saturday/Sunday brunch is a deal you can't miss! We ordered: *waffle breakfast - the waffles were good, especially if you like they dry and crispy cause that's what it was! I didn't mind it so much but it wasn't the best waffles I've ever had. You get lots of bacon and eggs anyway you want! I also added hash browns and it was as expected! *french toast breakfast - I'd say it was mediocre french toast at best, nothing fancy and nothing to rave about. *Loaded Tator Tots - were crispy and had good flavors. Probably one of my faves that we ordered. *Chicken Fried Steak - this was fantastic! Super crispy with a delicious flavor and gravy! Came here tonight for dinner. It had been awhile and was craving some good food. I like the atmosphere here. It feels like a cozy, family restaurant. Like a place you'd eat at on vacation, tucked away in a small town. Started with bacon wrapped scallops...delicious! You get eight of them, and for the price point, so worth it! I had the prime rib dip for an entree with their seasoned fries. Perfect potion size with tasty Au Jus. I was so tempted to try their homemade pie but was stuffed and didn't want to expand my waistline any further. I'll be back again soon!! read more

Do not recommend this restaurant. Ambiance is a bit grimy, it has a whole in the wall vibe to it. Wait staff is incredibly rude and only provide service based on if they deem you worthy. Food is okay but doesn't make up for the racial discrimination they seem to have as a daily special on the menu. Can't even justify giving this spot one star. read more

This is my favorite breakfast spot on the Eastside! I love their brunch menu and the portions are huge (I always take home leftovers). My go-to meals are the French toast breakfast or Jay Berry's Eggs Benedict. I also recommend getting a cinnamon roll to share for the table because it is huge and it can feed 3-4 adults! Came here on a Saturday around noon, and it was busy! There wasn't much space to wait inside the restaurant, so we spent most of the 30 min wait time outside. They use a buzzer so it would've been ok to sit in the car. The food and service were good, but nothing particularly mind blowing. Not a bad place for breakfast. I of course got the chicken fried steak and eggs (sunnyside up) with a side of hash browns. The chicken fried steak was crunchy and fairly juicy and the sauce was just OK. I felt it could have had a bit more seasoning. Also got a side of pancake. However the best part of the meal was the loaded avocados, they taste awesome!!! I'm not on Keto diet but man, I could eat these all day. They were savory and had the right amount and combination of textures, some cheese, some bacon and the avocado tasted like "Butta". It was also neat to see some of the signs that go with the '80s decor like "Unsupervised children will be fed sugar and given a puppy". Parking is ample, and the service was really good. Decided to settle on takeout with all the restrictions happening. Pickup was fairly efficient, although I didn't see an option for true curbside pickup. Would have liked that contactless alternative for someone who may not feel comfortable with contact pickup. As someone who doesn't really enjoy Eggs Benedict, I was hesitant to try it. But on the recommendation of my friend, I decided to order and I was not disappointed. Their specialty hollandaise sauce was what really made this dish unique. The portions are massive. I'm a fan of Kathie's special and I always leave feeling like I can't drive home. So good! 3 perfectly poached eggs over a bed of crispy hash browns, melted cheese, the most insanely good cheese sauce. They also started having their mimosa and Bloody Mary $3 deals on Saturday AND Sunday where they used to only have those on Saturday. I have been here plenty of times and I would say their service is consistently mehh. Finally got around to trying this place out. It has been on my radar since I drive past it when I venture out to Saar's supermarket every few months. We arrived around 12:30pm on a Sunday & waited for about 30 mins. for a table. My son was disappointed that they didn't have any lunch options until 2pm bc he's not a big breakfast food fan. Both of my boys ended up getting the chicken fried steak. I thought it was tasty but I think they use Italian sausage to make the gravy. That was a little different twist & my boys felt like it was too much after a few bites. I got the eggs Benedict. The formaggi sauce was ok but I didn't really feel like it worked with the Benedict. I would have much preferred a regular hollandaise sauce which they didn't have as an option. The waitress was a little gruff at 1st but warmed up after a while. Tried this restaurant after my boyfriend and I had gotten back in town from vegas. He had the breakfast pizza , very tasty I might add. Went here on a whim. It's perfectly situated right by a traffic light and the ease of pulling into the parking lot helped :) We went at around breakfast time so their parking lot didn't have many cars in it and we were seated immediately. This is such a cute, little cafe. When you walk in, you pass by the bathrooms on your right & the bar on the left, yes - they have a bar. The host podium is to the left. This place could get cray if enough people go at once. I say this only because it's such a cute - little spot with ample seating, they didn't waste any space when it came to making sure they used every spot. The menu had a good amount of variety. I opted for breakfast food because - why not? Breakfast is good all day, everyday. What I really liked was that they had a section just for "Lighter Side." So awesome for you people that are trying to watch their figures. Although, I'm not trying to watch my figure - I ordered from that section. I ordered The Light Jose Special which is two poached eggs served over hash browns with salsa and baked with melted Cheddar Cheese. The hashbrowns were baked to a crisp which was a plus - I don't necessarily favor soggy hashbrowns. For it being on the "Lighter Side" section, it was quite filling. I pretty much finished it all. I had a Traditional Breakfast and my mom had The Rooster. My mom's sandwich was huge but she enjoyed it. She ordered home fries with it and they were out so she went with hash browns. I ordered my eggs over hard with bacon and hash browns. Weirdly everything seemed like it had the same soft texture so I didn't fully enjoy my meal. The bacon was soft, the hash browns were mushy and the eggs were slightly under cooked. Also I'm not sure if Thursday is senior discount day or not but 90% of patrons there were over 70.
