My six buddies and I had a wonderful time here after hitting the slopes at Jay. We got to the Inn just after 4pm and there was no wait at all. They had a great local beer selection! We started with the pork belly and some soups/chili. All were delicious! Then our meals were awesome! Large portions and great attention to detail on plate preparation. Great place to go after a day of skiing. The mussels milano are fantastic as are the bbq chicken wings. Just make sure not to try the ghost wing challenge, or else you will be facing the toilet for days to come. read more

At the Jay Village Inn, I ordered a bbq chicken pizza. When the pizza came, the waitress dropped half of it on the table, blamed another waitress and instead of apologizing, offered to bring parmesan. It was then that I found out that the pizza was the buffalo pizza and not the bbq. My family and I will not be returning to the Jay Village Inn. read more

Went past this place the past couple yrs on our annual foray to Jay Peak - what a mistake. Comfortable, warm, classic VT decor - a perfect accompaniment to a perfect New England mountain. Options range from pub style to traditional inn offerings and are fresh made and tasty. Beer selection is somewhat limited but there are local offerings. A bit on the loud side, with lots of families/kids, so not a good option for a romantic dinner for two. read more

Right down the road from jay peak (across from the gas station)...you'll miss the long lines and high prices that you'll see at the main resort area..food is always cooked to perfection & the service is awesome! JVI is a cute cozy place to eat and they had an acoustic singer. As for the food, it's just ok. We got the Buffalo Wings as an appetizer and they make their own sauce. I like the traditional Buffalo Wings sauce so even though the wings were meaty and appealing, the flavor was not what we were expecting and we didn't enjoy them. Plus the $14 price tag was a little steep. All of the portions were very large. I looked at other tables and their portions were large too, so if you're looking for volume, it's the place to go. For dinner, my kids got the pizza which was very large, but also very doughy. Being from NY, I like a thinner crust, crispy pizza. The taste was just ok. I got the Blackened Salmon which was a little salty but ok. It comes with a vegetable which was zucchini loaded with garlic and then a choice of carb. I got the roasted potatoes and it came with two medium sized white potatoes with the skin on that were basically baked potatoes. I was expecting peeled, diced and roasted potatoes that were crispy and tasty. These were baked, dry potatoes without butter. My husband got the Shrimp and Scallops. Portion was huge, but mostly linguine with 3 shrimp and 3-4 scallops. The sauce was alfredo. It was too cheesy and rich. Similar to what you would get in a TGI Fridays. We found the restaurant disappointing, but I'm a bit of a foody. Maybe we should have had the burger. read more

My family and I were staying at the resort and opted to get off the resort for the night and check out the Jay Village Inn. There were thirty people ahead of us waiting to be seated (which was odd) so we got three spots at the bar. The bartender seemed really nice at first! We got our drinks and he took our food orders. The nachos were really good and came out pretty quickly. We also ordered two burgers and a chicken sandwich. The big problem didn't come until we were paying our bill. When the bartender handed us our check, the prices were way off compared to what the prices were listed as on the menu. For example, he tried to charge us $20 for a $16 burger, $18 for a $13 burger, and $15 for a $14 sandwich. Figured it was a mistake and asked him to change it. He came back three additional times saying he fixed the mistakes, but all of the additional charges were still listed. He and the manager both got annoyed and snippy with me for asking for the correct prices. 25 minutes later they finally fixed the burger up-charges, but didn't fix the charge on the sandwich. At this point I gave up because I was so tired of asking them to fix it. I wonder if they do this consistently to customers who they know are from out of town or they don't recognize, as there seemed to be a lot of regulars there. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. The resort has plenty of great options with great customer service that make the slightly higher prices worth it. My experience at this restaurant was terrible. We stayed here this weekend with a group of four. The place is really cool and comfortable. The rooms are nothing fancy, but perfect when you're just up there to ski. We (two couples) had rooms joined by a common bathroom, which was perfect. Now, the bar/restaurant... it's great. Breakfast was delicious and pretty cheap. Dinner was awesome, we were all raving about the food. As in, we were surprised at how good it was. I had a steak, it was huge and cooked perfectly. My girlfriend and my buddy's girlfriend both had the steak tips, they were pretty great too. We also had the mussels as an appetizer. A word of warning, the restaurant was packed in the evening, I think we got the one open table when we went. The service was excellent despite it being very busy. None of us finished our meals, the portions were huge. The bar was a good hang out too, we were there relatively late both nights. The staff and the owners were friendly and attentive, they seemed pretty happy with their jobs and that's always a good thing. We got some good advice on what to do at the mountain and in the surrounding area. All four of us would definitely go back. read more

Beautiful summer day and we sat by the pool so kudos on ambiance. I had the chicken sandwich which was a good 4" deep so there was no way to fit it in my mouth so had to eat with a knife and fork. The Chipote bread was too tough to cut with a knife. The grilled chicken was tasty. But it came with generic stuffing and cranberry sauce and cheese and bacon. Service was so slow it was an hour from the time we arrived till we were served. I give her points for pleasantness. I ordered the maple cream brûlée and that was really weird. It was just vanilla pudding with the expected topping and cost $7. Wish I could give this a 2.5 review. read more

I've been known to haunt the JVI on late saturday night's throughout the winter. They have some good food, at decent prices. Sweet potato fries and burgers were delicious. They have decent fries too, and some people like their pizza, though I'm not so into it. But really you come here for the atmosphere - laid back, comfy, homely, cabin-esque with good people. 100% snowmobile accessible. read more

We had started at a different hotel nearby while skiing at Jay Peak. This other hotel was the dirtiest, creepiest place we've ever stayed and we cancelled our second night after finding the Lodge at Jay. Our stay at the Lodge was extremely affordable with a friendly staff as well as comfortable and updated rooms. Quite the opposite of the hotel we had started at! In addition, the Lodge has a covered bridge restaurant downstairs where you can actually eat under the covered bridge. Very charming! I would absolutely stay here during future visits to Jay Peak! I don't think you can find a better deal for the money! read more

I like this place, will definitely return the next time I'm in town. The ribeye steaks, ribs, and pizza were all good. My only criticisms were that my steak was ordered 'rare' and it came 'medium'. Also I would not order the bleu cheese version of the steak unless you are prepared for a steak that is completely drowning in bleu cheese, a bit overboard. All sides were excellent including asparagus, garlic mash potatoes, garlic bread, and house salad with an excellent house horseradish peppercorn dressing. `one star is all I can give this place because of the food. I didn't have any, but my mother enjoyed it. I stayed at the inn on 10/11/16 against my better judgement, but I had a work meeting in Newport early the next morning. Next time I'd rather stay in Burlington and make the drive up. But I stayed Tuesday night into Wednesday morning (10/12/16) with my mom and I had a awful stuffy nose, I could barely breathe so I went to bed early that night. Next morning I woke up with three huge bumps under my right arm near my armpit. I had to rush to this work meeting so I couldn't give it the attention it needed. Driving home to CT it was increasingly itchy. I called the inn later that night to speak to the owner and I was put on the phone with someone named Dave/David. He said he was the owner and said he could not refund me because those bumps/bites could have been from anywhere. He said he can't just refund money like that. He said he was sure it wasn't bed bugs. I told him I honestly didn't care about the refund, because work payed for my sty, but I want to just inform him so his staff could clean the hotel better. He said that there may have been a bug or a fly in my room. So does that mean I am to blame if there was a bug I didn't see or a fly that came in my room? He showed absolutely no compassion for what I had sustained while at his property. So I made sure to tell the office I visited in Newport about my experience and warn them all never to stay at the JVI and I told everyone I came in contact with while in VT. I also told my co worker who lives in VT so he can make sure none of his family or friends stay there. I would NEVER stay at the JVI EVER again because of the treatment from Dave. So if you're considering staying there, do yourself a favor and don't. Consider going elsewhere. read more

This place is on the VAST trail and we frequent often during the winter. As long as its not to packed (weekdays mostly are great) its amazing! The food and service is pretty much the best around and they make a killer Faceplant drink highly recommended. read more

The JVI restaurant needs to decide whether they are a pub or an upscale dining experience It is poorly laid out and the prices scream higher end while the product is decidedly average.My advice for what its worth...........do a kickin pub menu and the watch the doors bulge open. The reviews here scared me at first but we decided to give it a chance because of their low prices compared to staying at Jay Peak. Photos dont do it justice either. I wish I took my own photos to post. Its very cozy. It is very close to Jay Peak, about a 7 minute drive. The restaurant was great. The food reviews are right on point! The bar atmosphere is fun & easy going. The breakfast was cheap, tasted great! The room was clean & the mattress was new. The only thing is the steam from the shower set off the smoke detector easily. It seems like they have taken the previous reviews seriously. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Been a long time fan of the JVI, up until this evening my husband and I were excited for dinner. We started off with a couple of drinks and appetizers which were just average. He ordered the BLT and I ordered the NY sirloin, when the food was served it first went to the table behind us, as I saw the man say I ordered the Prime-rib waiter immediately picked up his plate but left the BLT in front of his wife. The waiter quickly came out with my NY sirloin in his hand and picked up the BLT in front of his wife and placed the meals in front my husband and I. I cut into my steak and it was raw (I ordered the steak medium) my baked potato was also very dried out. The waitress came over and asked how everything was I told her my steak was raw and potato dry. My husband's BLT was fine. She picked it up and said that they would finish cooking it. By that time I was checked out on my dinner, the steak came back cooked and all cut up but the potato still dried out not even a new potato. Waitress came back over and saw I was done and asked if we had a dog. (we do but honestly my dog wouldn't even eaten that) Bill came and the waitress said I took half off of the steak of the bill which I am not suppose to do. SERIOUSLY!! We paid the bill and left for good. DONE AND DONE won't be going back to the JVI anytime soon. read more

Food was very good. Accommodating to vegetarian needs and made a great veggie burrito which was not on the menu. The ribs we very good, fall off the bone and tasty. As a previous resident of the area we were back in town visiting and had ate many times at the restaurant and there isn't many places in that area for hotels and I refuse to pay Jay Peak resort prices. This room was a bit pricey for what you get, off season $120 for a king room is way over the top unless it's a great room which this was not. The shower was weird corner thing with NO room to move and I'm average to small and I still bumped my elbows on the curved door...can't imagine anyone of average to large would even attempt. Pedestal sink with a postage stamp set of drawers to put your toiletries on, the only comfortable chair in the room was badly stained by who knows what. Bed was comfortable, only redeeming factor. Food and service was good, sad to say you never see the same face twice working there except for the owners read more
