This isn't necessarily your traditional bbq, but a wonderful spin on it! The meat is always tasty. The breading on their mushrooms is delightful! I, also, enjoy their armadillo eggs....a lot! The only downside I can think of is I'm not a fan of the corn or beans. But, I think it depends on your taste, so I can't knock personal preference. Food was amazing, service was amazing. Will be going be k to try other menu items. 4 of us split the fried pickles, brisket, pulled pork, burnt ends, fries, coleslaw, potato salad, and cheesy corn. All of it was really great and fresh. I don't usually put sauce on my bbq, but my hubby told me to give it a try....great flavor! We also ordered some cajun seasoned wings that were crisped to perfection. Also, the owner was going around greeting and checking on every table. He suggested we try the crab balls next time. I've visited this restaurant several times and Jazzy B's never disappoints! The owner and staff are very friendly and make you feel at home as soon as you step inside. My favorites are the Drunken Shrimp Po-Boy (definitely a must-try!), Brisket Sandwich and Jazzy Fries. At my most recent visit, I decided to try something different and ordered the 2-Piece Crab Cake combo, which was delicious. I was nearly full after eating the first crab cake! Went to Jazzy B's last night, had ribs, crab cakes a taco. Regular slaw and Blue cheese potato salad and it was all fantastic. I eat out often, LA, NY and now KC. I go to all kinds of places and I find this is the best kind of place because the meals are more small batch. They are made with love and pride. The stuff has to be good, but in this case it's special. The place is full of music greats on the walls. Blues, Jazz greats. It's simple and casual. But we are going to eat a great meal, that's what it's all about and that what we got. Have the crab cakes, they are not easy to make and these are some of the best ones I ever had. It's too bad, waiting more than 1.5 hours for food. 2 staff cooking and the clueless and rude waitress couldn't be bothered to help. Went to check on the order 50 minutes after ordering only to find out they were out of chicken and our food was "being worked on." Came up to check again after another 25 minutes to be told be the "lovely" server that they were working on it.....again. I said this was the same as I was told 25 minutes prior and she said well they really are working on it now.... It's too bad, the owner is a great guy but needs to staff up and have a serious discussion with the "server" who chooses the shoot hopes with bottle tops rather than assist the cooks.... UPDATED JUNE 22, 2020: we went back after giving Jazzy's another chance a few months ago because the food is GOOD! Left a few weeks ago when we came in later and they were out of what we wanted - understand- COVID-19 and all. But tonight...went in at 6:25pm on a Friday night and all they had was pulled pork and smoked crab?? That's it?? Seriously; the food is so good..when they have it. This was an hidden gem. I will definitely be returning. If you are a person who enjoys local owned original places with that special something, Jazzy B's will not disappoint. The food was phenomenal. I was told about Jazzy B's from a regular who also made a recommendation on what to order. It was what I would call from the secret menu. Jazzy B himself was even more amazing. I don't usually leave reviews but I can't help myself with this place. Great environment, food and beer/liquor selection. The staff was immediately warm and welcoming right out of the gate. Great portions for the price, which isn't all that common nowadays for BBQ, especially in LSMO. The owner was bouncing around running the show, very personable and checked in on me at the bar a couple times, as well as the rest of the staff. The burnt ends are quality! Had their "Armadilla" eggs as they name them and they were very flavorful. Will def be putting this place in the rotation, wish that I would have sooner tbh. read more

Ordered 1 lb of brisket and 3 sides. Brisket and fries were good and the right quantity. Beans and corn were 5 oz each for $4 each. This equals 2 spoons per person if sharing with 2 people. Do yourself a favor go to jack stack or the grocery store for the sides until they decide to feed bbq to men. read more

Okay, for real if there were six stars I'd give it a six. And I eat a lot of places and I love food. I'm especially fond of Southern cuisine and especially Creole Cajun etc. The funny part is he had me fooled. He's blended a bit of flava from various places he visited and foods he loved, put it into a non-descript building off colbern and themed it with jazz music and good ole family Eatin. And I love it. I was introduced to jazzy B's by a guy from work who brought some in one day. A friend and I went in the other day and we loved it as well. So the owner/chef is a real delight to know. He doesn't seem to know a stranger, loves his work, made us feel right at home. I can't say enough about the impact that makes on new guests. Go try jazzy b's I think you'll love it. I have driven by a handful of times and never thought to stop. Glad I did today. I can tell that the owner puts heart and soul into his food. Kansas City has some great BBQ joints and this one should be on the podium. The apple slaw is super good! Just the right amount of sweet and tang. I tried brisket, burnt ends, and the ribs. The meats were all very tasty. The ribs are in an entirely different league. Tasty, tender and thicc! We came in late in the evening and the staff was fantastic. Great place and some of the best brisket I have had in the K.C. area. I was not a big fan of the crab ball but the meats were excellent . Other places charge $20 to $22 a lb for brisket and burnt ends , they were only charging $15 for brisket and $16 for burnt ends . I really like this little place! My son & I had the brisket sandwiches. I had the corn & he had the fries which I really liked. The chopped brisket had plenty of meat & was served on a large bun. They make their own BBQ sauce & it was good. As good as the food was, so was the team delivering the goods. Jazzy is a mountain of a man with a laugh to match. One of the men working the orders behind the counter joined in the banter as did one of the other customers which made it that much more fun. The inside looks exactly like what a hometown BBQ joint should look like. Fancy schmancy? NO, who needs it? Good food, clean, priced fairly & owned by a local person? YES! This place is legit, killer BBQ!! Not only are the meats delicious, the sides are delicious, as well!! That's rare to find... usually, if the meats are good, sides are terrible, or vice versa...not the case here, it's all fabulous! The owner came in while our food was being prepared and was the best ever. Super friendly, funny and confident that his food was good! I'm vegetarian and ordered the Bella burger. It was better than I expected and I just wanted it to be good! In a bbq restaurant that primarily does meat I was quite surprised at how good the vegetarian option was. The fries and jazzy sauce were excellent. I'm a fry connoisseur and these fries were some of my favorite. My wife had the meat platter with potato salad and enjoyed the burnt ends and sausage.
