Visit here with the mindset that this is more "smoked" meat and less "BBQ" meat. Had I known that, I probably would be more inclined to give this place a higher rating. Large hole-in-the-wall place that looks nice on the inside, and the menu has a good variety of offerings, consisting of pork, beef, chicken, and fish. (I was a little sad I didn't order the armadillo balls for an appetizer.) As for my dish - I got a 2 meat platter of burnt ends and 3 ribs - it was good, but I've had better in terms of flavor. Not gonna lie, brown sugar on fries threw off my palate for the entire meal. The BBQ sauces provided on the side helped flavor the entire dish. My husband and I went to Jazzy B's today for the first time and we have been missing out. We ordered the crab balls, drunken shrimp Po'Boy, jazzy fries, Miles Davis baked beans, and garlic cheesy corn. All of the food was delicious and made fresh to order. The owner, Brandon, was friendly to everyone that came in and made you feel welcomed. We loved all of our food and were unable to eat it all in one setting. Had dinner here tonight, it was fantastic! Started with the wings. They were smokey and crisp seasoned just perfectly. I had the rib plate (always have ribs when I try a new place), these baby back ribs were excellent. I had a side of apple jicama slaw it was delicious! My friend had a 2 meat platter with brisket and pulled pork with a side of cheesy corn, both meats very tender and smoked perfectly. The staff was out going and friendly. We found out from the owner that all sides and sauces are made in house. I highly recommend Jazzy B's to anybody looking for truly delicious BBQ! read more

Wow. Not even sure where to start with this one. Don't like writing negative reviews, and even when I do I like to find the positives in a place. Unfortunately I'm really struggling with this one, so I suppose I'll take it from the top. Our party of four arrives, everyone figures out what they want, and we step up to the register. After five minutes, one of the guys behind the counter announces "I'll be with you folks in a second" Five minutes later, guy comes to the register to take our order. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, fries and a drink. Took ol' boy three tries to get that entered. We go and take our seats, and wait. And wait. And wait. I suppose I should mention at this point we were one of three small (under four apiece) parties in the joint. Wait some more. 45 minutes later, one of our people gets their entree. Not the sides. One of her sides follows five minutes later. The other arrives ten minutes after that. The three of us continue to wait. And wait. And wait. Half hour later, the other three of us receive our entrees. Not the sides. "Y'all had fries right?" Sure did. "OK, I'll be right back with those." Fifteen minutes later, the fries show up. Sorta. There aren't three orders of fries. Homeboy plunks one basket of fries in the middle of the table, announces "We servin' em home-style today folks!" - and just walks away. WTF??? So now we have our food. I'll only speak for mine. Pulled pork sandwich was passable I suppose. It had BBQ sauce on it. What if I didn't want sauce on it? I guess they decided for me, as there were no BBQ sauces on the table. Or ketchup for that matter. Sandwich was served without pickles, which is blasphemous for a BBQ joint. The fries had cinnamon on them. Cinnamon? This was not mentioned, nor offered when ordering. Not good. I don't know if the folks at Jazzy B's don't realize this is KANSAS FREAKIN' CITY, THE HOME OF THE BEST BBQ IN THE WORLD, or what. I've lived here 10 years, and for the last 10 years I've been telling people who ask for recommendations "Its Kansas City! :-) There AREN'T any bad BBQ joints here - only good ones and great ones!" I guess every streak has to end sometime. If you want to give this place a shot despite my and other similar reviews, I suggest you hurry... this place ain't gonna be around long. I've wanted to try this place for some time now and wasn't disappointed! I had the Drunken Shrimp Po Boy with Blue Cheese Potato Salad and #MyLovelyWife had the Brisket Combo with Miles Davis' Beans. Both meals were quite delicious. Brisket is nice and smokey, nicely complemented by the beans. The po boy is a perfect blend of flavors and textures, with the shrimp as the star shining through each bite. Definitely will be back and will recommend to all our friends! I went to Jazzy B's today out of curiosity because of the close proximity to my lake house. I took a friend and my mother. We ordered 12 ribs and 3 jalapeño poppers which came out to a total of 40 DOLLARS. At the counter I immediately noticed the sloppy setup as the cashiers phone was laying on the customer side. The cook was drinking a bud light as he was pulling fries out of the freezer. For the food. It was all cold, jalapeños had not began to cook cole slaw was bad and my meat was impossible to chew. Upon arrival home the 3 of us began to feel sick and I have since been in the bathroom 7 times in 2 hours. The staff never said hello or goodbye or bothered to ask how our food was. An unheralded BBQ spot out in Lee's Summit. The service was really good as they seemed really ready to help you out. I tried the brisket sandwich, fries, and crab balls. The brisket was extremely tender and just fell apart because it was so tender. The fries have a cinnamon seasoning to it so if you're not into it you may not enjoy but I'd recommend it. I took the family to Jazzy Bs today for lunch. I love "mom & Pop" BBQ restaurants and this is definitely one. I am a BBQ fan and found this place to have good side dishes. As for the BBQ, it was very fatty, which I think is a big negative. I had a brisket sandwich that was 40% fat. I understand that fat is on brisket, but it should be trimmed off on a sandwich instead of using it as filler for the meat to increase a businesses profit. I had to dump the meat on my plate, grab a fork and divide the fat from meat all throughout my sandwich. The owner came by our table to see how our experience was and, he saw my plate full of fat that I had not eaten. I told him my thoughts on the "fatty" sandwich. I thought by telling him it would improve his business. He only responded "alright" and walked away. He did not make any effort to communicate with me further. My son had brisket tacos and had too much fat as well. I hope the experience I had at Jazzy Bs was not a normal one. I hope I can have a better experience there if I choose to return. So, I wanted to really love this place but I didn't. I still give it 4 stars because the quality of the food, atmosphere, and friendliness of the staff go a long way. I ordered the brisket sandwich with the sweet/original sauce and sides of fries and cheesy corn. The meat alone is amazing, but I didn't care for the sauce as it was too vinegary for my personal preference. (Kansas Citians are divided sharply by sauce). I definitely wished I had gotten my sauce on the side. The fries have an interesting seasoning blend, it wasn't a standard seasoned salt that they were topped with, I think it may have included cinnamon or another "warm" spice. Not bad but I'd probably ask for no seasoning--or get sweet potato fries if they're an option. The garlic cheesy corn is really good and they don't kid about the garlic, it is strong which I like. By far the best BBQ I have found in Kansas City. We traveled to Kansas City from Texas for work and wanted to get the full KCBBQ experience so we had to try every place around town. We tried Kansas City Joe's(Original and new location), Q39, Gates, Arthur Bryant's, and Jack Stack. I can say that Texas BBQ is better than KCBBQ in my opinion but when I compared only places in KC then Jazzy B's has to get my number 1 spot.
