Good times. Service is great. Accommodating and friendly. Was eyeing up a window seat that was about to be vacated but was told some other patrons were already waiting for it. No problem. However, later on during our meal, after our apps but before we ordered entrees as we waited for another person to join, we asked to move to another vacant window table. I was expecting to get shutdown but they moved us over. Loved it. They also didn't mind us creating our own French pacing by lingering with our appetizers and a bottle of wine before even ordering entrees. Again, much appreciated. Ambience is good. Dark, tablecloths, low lighting. Everything I want from a neighborhood French spot. Refined and elegant but not overly stuffy. That said, our table was the youngest by a good 20 years. Noticeable but not a problem, especially if it means I can avoid social media hype. If anything, I should apologize for being maybe a little too loud and maybe disrupting the vibes. The food is solid across the board. Escargot is fine, the foie gras was maybe a touch gamier than I'd like. The mussels were delicious. One of the many dishes that demanded extra bread so soak up all the flavors. The hanger steak and duck were cooked well, though by the time we finally got to our entrees I was buzzing from wine and the company. And here's a good time to note that they had very drinkable bottles (for my admittedly underdeveloped palate) at reasonable prices. Might as well get a bottle instead of cocktails. So all in, I had a great time. Happened to just walk by earlier in the day while shopping in the area and had mentally bookmarked it, and I was happy to actually try it. Most recently, the Saturday Special-Filet Mignon served with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. Mmmm, loved it! The steak was a lovely meal; very nice size cut of meat. Do consider to show my photos if you want it with pink in the middle. At steak houses it's called "medium", but I always clarify that I want pink in the middle, so we all enjoy our meal, and ideally, get it right the first time. The details matter. Dessert- I ordered the Bread Pudding-see the Dessert Menu. See photos I posted. I shall also try to work my way thru the Dessert Menu. LOL. MY Bread Pudding, to be truthful, was disappointing, because I was expecting it to be soft and fluffy since the Anglaise Sauce was mentioned in the description. It was not a fluffy bread pudding. The "sauce" was more like a watered down egg sauce and was on the plate, rather than having it make the bread pudding light and fluffy. I did not finish it. I ate more than I should have, I think I was hoping I'd find a spoonful of light, fluffy bread pudding, but it was not to be. But, I still love this restaurant, and next visit, I shall select a different dessert. So, in my humble opinion, I feel there is room for improvement in the bread pudding. And, I do look forward to my next visit. IMHO, I love this restaurant. When my very nice server asked me how I liked the bread pudding, I told him honestly, and politely. He was clearly surprised at my response. His look was more of a deer caught in headlights than a professional hospitality person. He did not know what to say, and so he didn't ...did not say anything. And walked away. I guess stunned. I simply chalk this up to the restaurant being in the new stage, and I hope that training is ongoing, because if you are going to take the initiative to ask, then, you must be prepared with how to respond. So, I'd say, perhaps, a work in progress, in this regard. But, I still rate Jean Claude restaurant as 5-Star, because 99.9Percent of the food I've had the pleasure of ordering has been delicious. And, I Love The French Onion Soup here!!! The Crab Cake was delicious. My Filet Mignon was perfectly satisfying. The mashed potatoes and fresh green beans were quite delicious. The warm bread and butter was yummy! I truly do look forward to trying more delicious food from the menu. And watching the restaurant grow. This is a cute french restaurant that I came here for brunch with family. They are known at least for their brunch for their pancakes. I unfortunately was too full to try them. I had a decaf cappuccino and wow it was delicious! The bread and butter we got for the table was also very tasty. That is what made me full even before having my main dish. I got the eggs Benedict with spinach and sauce on the side. It looks like a small dish but the amount of spinach they give you is alot so it filled me up quickly. The front of the restaurant is lined with oversized white French doors which are opened onto the sidewalk during warmer weather. Walking into the restaurant, we were quickly greeted by the host. Seated, we had a nice view of the expansive dining room filled with white table cloth covered tables, framed French posters on warm wood walls topped with white subway tiles. The waiters were nicely dressed in white shirts and black vests reminiscent of waiters in restaurants in Paris. Started with the frisée salad, tossed with crispy bacon bits and topped by a fried egg, the light Dijon mustard dressing was delicious. Followed with the lime honey glazed duck, a generous sized duck breast served medium rare plated on sautéed lettuce and mushrooms. The other entree was the Branzino served on lentils and diced carrots, perfectly cooked crispy skin and moist white fish. Looking forward to visiting again to try some of the dishes. Couldn't believe that it has been a year since I had dinner here, but definitely will return soon. read more

Very nice French bistro, good addition to the neighborhood and worthy competition for Bistro Vendome around the corner. Clientele is on the older side. Calm vibe, with tables are spaced out and sound level low enough to actually have a conversation. We had the Foie Gras Poêlé and Salade de Lettuce (iceberg salad) to start and skate and steak frites for mains. Everything was excellent and food came out quickly, except that the steak was cooked medium instead of requested medium rare. When we pointed this out to the waiter, he acknowledged and tut-tutted but did nothing else. Wine is a good deal at $15/half carafe, but skip the $16 Daniel Pardiac Brut Blanc de Blancs sparkling wine, too sweet. Would probably go back but stay away from the steak and sparkling wine. read more

This restaurant hit all the marks - ambiance, service, and food. We sat under the painting of the Last Supper (how can you go wrong after that right?). We had French Onion Soup as our appetizers - delicious! I even scrapped all of the melted Gruyere off the sides of the bowl. My sister had mussels which were in a delicious broth which she happily dunked the crusty bread in. It was a very generous portion. She brought half of it home. I had the red snapper. It was truly the best I have ever had. Desserts were good as well. If you like chocolate fudge - go for the chocolate mousse. The creme brulee was done well too. If I lived in New York, I would eat here every week. I have been dining in NYC for decades. This restaurant is probably in my top three best ever. read more

This restaurant is old school and wonderful. The service is impeccable. The minute the complimentary bread disappears, there is more. My Son and I visited New Years Day 2026 and were very happy with our experience. We both ordered escargot served in the shell. I ordered sea scallops risotto and my Son ordered hanger steak - both delicious. For dessert, we both had creme brulee and cappuccino - also quite good. I also have to mention the restroom because it is the nicest I have experienced in a long time. It is large, very clean, and has black and white tiles - unusually pleasant for a restroom in a restaurant. Can't wait to return to this place. read more

Since our favorite restaurant next to Jean Claude closed suddenly, we have been without a go to restaurant in the neighborhood the last few months. Finally got a chance to try Jean Claude. They were very accommodating with me adding one person to our reservation last minute even though they were fully booked. The good...cocktails were very good. Service was good, decor is lovely. The fries steer crispy and delicious. 10/10 The mediocre....duck confit was 'ok". The mussels were pretty bland. Although I enjoyed dipping the bread into the broth. Really can't go wrong there. 6/10 The bad... I thought the beet salad was very, very bland. Seemed like the beets were right out of a can. I must have unloaded a third of the salt shaker on them. Then she ordered a burger that didn't taste right and later found a short black hair on her plate. The manager took it back but by then she had lost her appetite. Honestly, it would have been nice if they had comped the glass of wine or something off the bill, considering the issues with the food and the hair on the plate.
