Jeffrey's has one of my favorite brunches in Manhattan. The breakfast platter for two is pure delicacy and in my option fairly priced for all you are getting. It includes a variety of smoked fishes: salmon, trout, whitefish as well as scrambled eggs and caviar and is served with potato latkes, bagels and toast! It's so filling and so good. I've also had their crab melt which is basically a grilled cheese with crab which is a great lighter option. their dinner is good too but I would definitely recommend prioritizing brunch. It was easy to make an rsvp and they were good on checking up on if you would be able to attend the day of. The drink "Big Yellow Taxi" was refreshing and nice to drink. Food was fine but nothing too crazy -- I got the avocado toast and shared the mochi corn bread. I do want to try their seafood since it is what their menu seems to feature more of. The service was less than ideal; the oysters, though delicious, took quite a while to arrive. And our drinks took even longer. I had a beer which was good, my friends had two different cocktails. They said they were good as well. Also tried the marinated olives and white fish with crackers, both of which were generously portioned and delicious. Waitress was incredibly bubbly and friendly. Really appreciate the service and attentiveness. The restaurant is very compliant with COVID, spacing tables at least 6ft apart, vigorously wiping all surfaces and spotless restrooms. The best seafood platter i've had hands down, Came in on a friday evening and this place was packed with an hour wait, luckily I was able to snag some seats at the bar so do yourself a favor and make reservations. I ordered their infamous deviled eggs and calamari for starters and both were really good, the deviled eggs were extremely tasty and the calamari was bomb I enjoyed the touch of fried lemons scattered throughout the dish, it was really delicious. we ordered the Le Jeffery for our main and it was HUGE definitely couldn't fit comfortably on the bar but the staff made it happen, the platter consisted of oysters, clams, mussels, lobster salad, shrimp, and a tuna spread all were amazing, the oysters and clams fresh, lobster salad seasoned to perfection I mean I couldn't find a single item i didn't like. For the price this item is a must it wasn't expensive and had great quality seafood that left us full and satisfied. I've been wanting to brunch at Jeffrey's Grocery for quite awhile now and yesterday I finally did. I went with a friend around 12pm and we were quoted a 1 hour wait. We weren't starving and didn't mind waiting so we gave our number and shopped around the neighborhood. We received a text about 45 minutes after 12pm and when we arrived back to the restaurant we were seated just a few minutes later. Knew I definitely wanted to try a Bloody Mary from Jeffrey's and it was absolutely delicious! Both my friend and I got the option with the oyster and shrimp. For our meals, we both ordered the barley bowl. Not something I'd typically order, but the photos looked great and our waitress highly recommended. SO glad I got this dish! It was amazing! We came for brunch and walked in around 10:30. We were seated promptly and ordered the crab and avocado toast, the chorizo scramble, side of latkes and made mine a Jeffery's (aka a side of salmon). Used to come here a lot, went with my wife and 2 kids before a show last week. Food was decent although not as good as my past visits, especially the lobster spaghetti which for the price I wish it was tastier. Wait staff was fantastic but the manager really ruined our experience, my 6 year old son had baked bread in camp, we had just sat down outside and he took out his little piece of bread he was really proud of just to show me, the manager comes running over and says "I really can't have you bringing outside food to the table, you need to put that away right now." I was getting a haircut nearby and told my friends, "Take me to a place where I can eat oysters and look cute". They took me here and all my requirements were met! On a sunny day in early summer, right before everyone is covered in sweat and oozing aggression, we sat in a window seat and ordered french fries, pancetta and garlic brussels sprouts, jalapeno corn bread with honey butter, cod fritters, and their Le Jeffrey seafood tower (16 oysters, 8 littlenecks, 8 shrimp cocktail, 1/2 lobster, 1/2 king crab legs, marinated mussels, salmon tartar, and scallops with orange and cucumber). There were four of us and this was the perfect amount of food to start with. You can order the fries sprinkled with old bay space which we did, and they come with ketchup and an aioli. They are delicious fries, crispy well spiced, very tasty- but they are $9 for a small portion. I'd like to see them lower the price or make the portion bigger. The cod fritters had chunks of fish inside of them, not little specks, served with a lightly flavored remoulade and arugula, it's the perfect combination of fried, creamy, crunchy. Brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly and the pancetta was not tossed on in such a huge amount that you could no longer taste the vegetable, excellent. You can't really taste the jalapeno in the cornbread, and it's a soft corn bread, with the honey butter almost chunky and more honey than butter. It was tasty but too sweet for me. The seafood tower was incredible. Excellent selections of fresh, quality seafood. These are the best raw clams I've ever had, usually I find them too fishy but these were perfectly balanced with a subtle sweetness. The scallops were standouts too, massive in size and practically melting in your mouth. My entree was their salmon with chopped asparagus, shiitakes, and a pea puree. I loved how the asparagus rods were cut into smaller pieces, allowing you to get a piece with each bite of salmon. The fish itself was cooked beyond tender, it was so unbelievably moist and flaky, I don't think I'll ever get the same results in my own kitchen! The puree and fresh vegetables pushed the whole thing over the top, I also recommend this dish. Their drinks were the only real misses. Their non-alcoholic drinks (Island Moon DJ & You're Hired & Getting a Raise!) were either overpowered by one ingredient (the former, looking at you lime), or too mellow with no flavors taking charge (the latter). I also tried Tulum with Love and El Diablo, both of which seemed to be balanced to the point of every ingredients cancelling each other out. Also, the seats are a little uncomfortable (backless wood stools and wooden booths with no cushions). Not a huge problem but we were all grateful to stand and walk around a bit afterwards. We didn't have a reservation and had a choice between the bar and sitting in the outdoor area. We opted for the outdoor spot and were thankful that the heat lamp (which has multiple level settings btw) was available, but do know that you'll still end up with blasts of chilly air whenever the door opens. All that aside, our server was lovely. We started with a dozen oysters (incredible), the deviled eggs (SO GOOD), the crab dip (so good, we got a 2nd order of it) and shrimp cocktail (on the small side) as apps. Their cocktails were also excellent -- I had several of the Big Energy drink, a great take on spicy margs. As for the main, we opted for the Lobster pasts -- which was excellent too. If you have the room, get the warm oatmeal raisin cookies. While I liked the chocolate pot de creme, I think I would do a double order of the cookies next time around. I've been dining at Jeffrey's Grocery for over ten years since it opened in 2010, and it hasn't changed at all. They still serve superior quality seafood and cocktails, and the service is still warm but chill. Bartenders will treat you to the best tequila shot you've ever tasted, or a plate of corn croquettes on the house to go with your lobster roll. Sit at the bar for the real experience. My roommates and I used to beg/borrow/steal for brunch reservations here, but with expanded seating due to outdoor dining, it seems like you don't have to fight for a spot despite maintaining its lively and bustling vibe. I don't even like seafood, so I don't know how I ended up here, but it must have been their uncompromising bloody maria. I loved drinking for breakfast when I was in college, it's all coming back. Lox and bagel, or whitefish spread during the day. This place also really introduced me to oysters. This review is just for the happy hour oysters. I had a quick in and out for happy hour oysters. The oysters are $1.50 each, no variety. You just order oysters. The oysters were pretty small, but somewhat flavorful. It's not bad for the quality. But I had some good oysters right before this restaurant (was oyster hopping) and so I could tell that these were not as fresh and flavorful. But hey, $1.50.
