Sophisticated vibe in the West Village. Service was great. Food & drinks were wonderful and tasty. The menu is limited And, beware of the price tag. This restaurant is pricey.

They have a great deal on Fridays for a burger and a martini which is awesome. Their oysters were also delicious. It's a great location and if you can sit at the front, the people watching is excellent.

The Noortwyck is a charming and slightly upscale restaurant in the West Village, offering some creative food. Their brunch menu offers a blend of classic options with a refined twist. The shakshuka was particularly noteworthy. Rather than the traditional tomato-based dish, it was reimagined with braised greens and parmesan, creating a wonderfully savory dish. And the duck fried rice? You don't see duck served in fried rice very often, but paired with the kimchi aioli, it made for a really intriguing and satisfying dish. Oh, and the cinnamon roll, which was generously covered in frosting, was a perfect way to end the meal. They also have a large wine list and some great cocktails too. Service was immaculate; they were very attentive. This is very much a restaurant for those seeking a more refined and intimate dining experience.

Went out for a team dinner at The Noortwyck and everything from start to finish was exceptional. We sampled a little bit of everything, and not a single dish missed the mark. The duck bao buns were an instant favorite--pillowy, flavorful, and absolutely amazing. The fluke crudo was unbelievably fresh and buttery, the kind of dish you wish you could order twice. The rigatoni? Immaculate. Perfectly cooked, beautifully balanced, and incredibly comforting. For mains, we tried the halibut, pork chop, and BBQ duck breast, and each one was so good that our table went quiet for a moment just to savor them. The flavors were deep, thoughtful, and clearly crafted with intention. The Noortwyck delivered a flawless dining experience--great food, warm service, and a vibe that made our team dinner feel special. Already looking forward to the next visit. Highly recommend.

Went back for cocktails- great options, large bar, and great service. Recommend both day and night!

I've walked by this place hundreds of times but never visited. We decided to change that today. The space is nice with the front opened and great for people watching. It can get a bit hot there on warmer days. It was the start of restaurant week but we opted for the normal menu. My wife ordered the martini which was served with your option of garnish. That was pretty cool. For food, we had the oysters, both the agnolotti and the linguini, then finished with the duck for two. The oysters came out quickly and were good but there was a huge gap between that dish and our pastas. I would say it felt like 20 minutes or more without any food. Once the pastas came, it was the best part of the meal. The corn agnolotti were good but the clams linguini was amazing. In fact, it was so good we ordered another plate. The duck was cooked well and quite good as well. Where they could use some work is with service. We had one waiter and one runner basically working the entire restaurant. To the point where instead of asking us if we wanted dessert when we asked to pack the rest of our duck to go, he said, "I assume you want the check." Which I said, sure. Bad way to end an otherwise good meal. We would probably come back again just for the pasta. But don't be sticker shocked, this place isn't cheap. Our meal came out to $400 after tips.

What an underrated place! In a day and age where almost everything in the WV that's good gets overhyped on social media and makes getting a reservation impossible, I am so glad that we came to the Noortwyck. The food was absolutely incredible. I can confidently say that this was the best duck that I've had and I truly am still thinking about it to this day. Our dessert was divine as well and the bread that we got as a starter was fabulous. Service was impeccable with attentive wait staff, and very friendly host staff. The ambience is perfect as we came in for an easy early dinner and while the restaurant was quite empty, the ambiance was still wonderful. I will recommend the Noortwyck to anyone that asks for a West Village recommendation as I truly think this is a hidden gem just waiting to be discovered.

The menu was short and sweet with a variety of options that should satisfy most people. The waitress raved about the shakshuka so literally 3/4 people ordered that and they all enjoyed it. Me as the outlier ordered the short ribs fried rice and it was SO good, I basically licked my plate clean. The drinks were also innovative! Service was also good and vibes were nice. They take reservation + had outdoor seating while also being inside, it was perfect.

Took the beau here for an anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. The vibe is upscale casual with a focus on quality and service. We sat in the back as the front room is more of a bar crowd and a bit louder. Our food was excellent. Well prepared, fresh, seasonal, and delicious. The chicken liver parfait was decadent and smooth as silk. The accompanying honey coated bread was sumptuous so this dish earned high marks. The striped bass came out piping hot and was perfectly cooked. Had to have the mascarpone rice pudding which I loved. High praise all around.

Such a great spot! The Noortwyck is an excellent restaurant that you can actually make a normal time reservation for. If you want a quality meal with great wine and cocktail options, this is your spot. The menu is great for sharing - everything I've tried has been a hit. Service is great - the servers and somm are very attentive. Ambiance is nice, not pretentious, buzzy. It's great for a small group or dinner for two.

I had a great time here with my girlfriends on a Monday night~ Lovely ambiance once you walk in, and the servers are all very pleasant to talk to. A lot of reviews mentioned the Seeded Parker House, and we were glad we got it b/c it was bigger than expected so you can share little bites with the table, and was so fluffy and flavorful! The Char Siu Duck was also very yummy and paired well with the foie gras butter. With the linguine, I felt like the sauce was a little unique(?) and wasn't vibing with it too much.. But out of everything, I would highly recommend getting the Agnolotti. The corn paired so well with the cream and noodles. I would come back just for this dish! I think overall, I think the ambiance was good for a little more elevated dinner and I appreciated that the dishes had a touch of their own special elegance to it.

Had a fantastic meal here with some friends on a Thursday evening. The general vibe was pretty laid back, which was refreshing for a restaurant of that calibre in the area. We ordered a few dishes to split and particularly like the scallop, the duck breast, and the agnolotti! We also tried their special dessert (forget the name), but it was a hit! Their wine selection is also pretty solid and they do have cocktails if that is your thing. The service was very attentive and friendly, giving us solid recommendations on food (particularly the dessert info was useful). I will most likely be back again and looking forward to trying some of their other dishes.

KenScale: 8.0/10 Visit: September 2024 I talked to my wife Jun earlier this year about our experience in the DC area since we had moved here more than three years ago. After some misses, we had found some really good restaurants that we found ourselves visiting multiple times; Jun was quite adamant, though, that the overall quality of restaurants in NYC in terms of breadth and consistency is still superior to DC. Nowadays, when we visit NYC, we would often just go back to our favorites like Atomix and Frevo rather than try new places that could've given us a better idea of the latest state of dining in the city. On our trip to the city in September, I wanted to try a few new places to check out what other chefs outside of our familiar circles were up to. The Noortwyck in West Village was one such place, started by a pair of alums from Eleven Madison Park (chef Andrew Quinn and sommelier Cedric Nicaise). We met with a couple whose wedding in Barcelona we had recently attended for early dinner, and found a lot to like about the restaurant. If you have been to enough number of restaurants in big cities like NYC or DC, the menu at The Noortwyck might not look especially intriguing. Who hadn't tried fluke crudo, heirloom tomatoes or duck breast at a sleek New American restaurant in a buzzy neighborhood, right? But then, the more we tried the dishes, the more realized that the kitchen was doing something special. Fluke Crudo, accompanied by cucumber and fennel, had spot-on texture, while grilled Romano beans with bagna cauda demonstrated the kitchen's high level of competency with vegetables. If the heirloom tomatoes with stracciatella and peach jam are still on the menu during your visit, they are not to be missed. The restaurant also has a couple of pastas on the menu, and the agnolotti with corn and summer truffle showed lovely earthy flavor without being overpowering. The aforementioned duck breast was also one of the standout dishes from our dinner, wonderfully grilled BBQ-style to give juicy meat, as was the pork belly with tamarin and fennel that I thought had really great moist flavor and texture. All of us were quite stuffed at the end of the savory dishes and ended up splitting one dessert, a deconstructed expression of mille feuille with banana, stout caramel and pecan almost resembling a sculpture that ended up tasting quite delightful. Thanks to its location and quality of cooking, The Noortwyck is one of the harder restaurants to secure a reservation, especially at the last minute. If you are looking to dine during prime time, especially with a larger group, advance planning is highly recommended. The typical West Village vibe of the restaurant full of younger crowds looking for a fun Saturday night out can feel somewhat chaotic at times but not uncomfortably so. Not surprisingly given the pedigree of one of the founders, the wine list was impressive, with some really interesting bottles from different corners of the world (I had no idea that there are red Burgundy wines produced nearby the all-white Chablis region until I encountered from the wine list a pinot noir from the nearby Epineuil appellation that was remarkably delicious without breaking the bank). After our visit to The Noortwyck, I realized that Jun was onto something in terms of the overall consistent quality of restaurants in NYC, knowing that, despite its precise and well-executed cooking, the restaurant has somewhat flown under the radar in the city's crowded dining scene. Judging by how satisfied Jun was with the dining experience, The Noortwyck certainly deserves more attention from the foodies in the city.

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

Our amazing curator came by to ask us all a few questions, write down a few words in the napkins, and mix up the perfect drink that our master bartender crafts, curates and creates. And the prices are in line for the area. My bestie and I loved the vibe. One of the best speakeasies she's had the pleasure of experiencing. Don't miss out on this place!
