This Jeni's at Park Road Shopping Center was such a welcome addition in Charlotte considering the general lunacy of the lines at the SouthEnd shop. Don't get me wrong; this store can get mighty busy on a weekend in summer, but either way it's worth the wait. My husband and I discovered Jeni's in Columbus before it became a national brand, and I am delighted to say the quality has not diminished. If you like rich ice cream with both traditional and of left-of-traditional flavors (like goat cheese and red cherries or wildberry lavender), Jeni's is for you. They have dairy-free choices too. The staff at Jeni's is always patient, helping guests determine what they would like and offering up samples with their advice. While you're selecting, the scent of fresh-made waffle cones is assaulting your olfactory senses with a silent demand to choose cone over cup. Even if you select a cup, you get a wedge of crispy waffle cone to indulge with your ice cream. When I stopped by this weekend for a small cup (kiddy sized with no judgment from the staff), I was delighted to see they'd added caramel and fudge sauces; my one complaint with Jeni's has been a lack of sundaes. As a result, I had the honey vanilla ice cream rather the more robust flavors so I could sample the caramel sauce. It was very good. Over the years we have sampled most of the regular flavors, but newcomers should be aware new and often temporary flavors are frequently introduced. A new tie-in with TED LASSO, Biscuits With the Boss, is insisting I return soon. At times I prefer frozen custard or soft serve ice cream, but when I want to treat myself to some truly rich goodness, Jeni's is the place. And with this shop at Park Road, the location allows for a lot of open-air seating both at tables, along the planters or even at the nearby curb. It's a place for happy community gathering and I am super grateful I no longer have to troop to Columbus to get it. read more

Jeni's never disappoints in the flavor of their ice cream! They are a big expensive for what you get. $8.00 for two HALF scoops of ice cream. While great ice cream this pricing is not worth the cost. They currently have a Ted Lasso special going on. For $5 you can get your ice cream in a pink container, a replica from the movie. The service was slow. We were the only customer at the window and it took at least 7 minutes to scoop 2 half scoops of the same flavor. Honestly, the guy looked stoned, but that is only an opinion. I've been a Jeni's fan for years. But it's disappointing that they've removed their classic dairy free flavors. Where they used to offer like 3 options, now there is only 1. And it's a very specific flavor - peppermint patty. It would be nice if the single DF option was vanilla or chocolate. I love the Texas sheet cake, but now that is only offered in a pint size. Not sure if the DF sales have declined and resulted in the changes, but hopefully they will reconsider. Not everyone can tolerate dairy and it's always nice to be included. read more

I pulled up early as I thought it would be packed because this is a popular event in other places. There is tons of parking since it's located in the middle of a shopping plaza. The staff was friendly and helpful and allowed me to sample. I got three scoops, two limited edition and one that I get all the time. Since I sampled them, I knew they would compliment each other. We arrived when there wasn't a movie screening starting so we didn't have that traffic either. I chose the "standard" - two half scoops that prices at $6.60. Milkiest chocolate on top of darkest chocolate below. It filled the waffle cone and Mrs. K. pronounced it "excellent" as she consumed every last bit. I came here on a whim with friends. I've been to Jeni's plenty of times, but my first time at this location. The store is in the middle of the Park Rd Shoppes parking lot. They only have walk up orders, but you can sit outside to enjoy your sweet treat! The staff was friendly and let me try all the samples I wanted! I ultimately ended up going with ooey gooey butter cake in a waffle cone (you can NEVER go wrong with their waffle cones). They serve super-premium ice cream at premium prices ... but do yourself a favor and splurge ... it's that good. Located at the heart of Park Road Center, the line you see when they open until they close shows how good their ice cream is. We always get their Brambleberry and Salted Caramel. I will say I am really not an ice cream person at all. Decided to try some while we were waiting for my son's guitar class to start. This is located in a shopping center so there are plenty of parking spaces to choose from. Unfortunately you can not enter the ice cream shop, you have to order from a window so if you go on a hot day, you will be melting. I decided to try the coffee flavor on a cone and OMG! This was the best ice cream I've had. Now I know what the hype is about with this place. The ice cream tasted so refreshing, and the coffee flavor was not overpowering like some other tastes. It had just the right amount of coffee flavor, and it did not leave super thirsty like other ice creams. It wasn't too expensive either, and they do have a good selection of flavors. Whenever I'm in a city for the first time, one of the things for which I always search is Jeni's Ice Cream parlors. Hurrah for Charlotte having so many of them! This was actually my first time at an outdoor parlor (hurrah again for being someplace warm in April!). So the experience was slightly different, because the staff was a crew of two - one taking and serving orders, and the other preparing them. So you don't get your ice cream immediately, but the wait is not unreasonable. I do wish the woman at the counter could have had a microphone and a speaker system. Her voice did not carry well over all the conversations and sounds outside, and she often had to call customers up several times. Not me though, I set a land speed record getting back up there, and their salted peanut butter with chocolate is now my new/current favorite flavor. The line was long but moved pretty fast. Super sweet workers. I got the goat cheese cherry (a classic fav-highly recommend) and the rainbow frozen yogurt (tart which I love so it's a new fav).
