After a dr's appt, I came right after they opened. They didn't have as much available so I opted for a ube latte w oat milk and ube brownies to share with coworkers. It was delicious albeit on the pricier side. Next time I will come back for the cake and other items.

I was in the area and was excited to stop by Jennivee's new location. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This new location is huge compared to the old one.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bakery case had me drooling - so many options from cupcakes, to cakes by the slice, to beautiful cakes ready to go if you need a cake for an event or party! This is the place you want to go to grab one. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also had a few other baked goods like a scone, muffins, cookies and I forget what else :) and they have a toooonnnnn of seating, so this would be a great spot to catch up with a friend - with a tea or coffee![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have coffee drinks too. I was here to treat myself and am a sucker for cake by the slice. It's not always the easiest thing to find tbh, so I loved that they had so many options. First I got the strawberry cheesecake - it's alternating layers of strawberry cake and cheesecake - and very yummy. I found the cake to be a tiny bit dry, but maybe it was just because the cheesecake was SO yummy, I wanted more of that one! The other slice was a chocolate chip cookie cake - but unfortunately it was completely dried out after 1 day, even in the fridge, and even when I tried letting it warm up a bit on the counter (still in the box they served it in). I will definitely return and suggest you check it out, too!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This bakery and cafe is so cute![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The cakes, pastries, cupcakes and gelato were all mouthwatering. It was before lunch when we stopped in for coffee. We were just going to grab and go, but once we stepped inside, we couldn't pull ourselves away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The cafe is so inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a blueberry muffin which was amazing and a chocolate croissant. Next time we will definitely grab cupcakes or a cake to bring to a celebration.

I felt so spoiled for choice. Everything looked so good and you have to make sure to look at both the top and bottom trays to make sure you didn't miss any cupcake flavors. Service was nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a lot of seating and the interior is so cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The cupcakes were great. We got tiramisu and tres leche. $5.50 each.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]It's so beautiful inside!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I stopped in today for breakfast before a haircut nearby. And I am so glad I finally was able to try this place. I'm be walked by the old locations a few times and never actually went inside. Today I ordered an ube latte, a ube cupcake, a coconut and ube bar, and a bacon and egg croissant. Everything was so yummy. I had the croissant for breakfast along with the latte. And then shared the cupcake and ube bar with my family later in the day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor inside it so well done and there is so much space inside. Lots of tables and chairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I interacted with two of the staff members and they were so nice and kind. Very welcoming. I will definitely be coming back. (And buying more pastries to go)

Stopped into this place as the bakery we planned on going to was closed. We wanted some sweets to end our evening. My husband left the selection up to me. So I grabbed carrot cake and red velvet for him. For me I grabbed main squeeze (lemon bar cupcake) and bad-n-bojee (chocolate and raspberry). The service was prompt and the flavor of cupcakes unique. I would definitely seek this place out to custom order a cake or cheesecake. Price on cupcakes was fair given flavor complexity. Would return to satisfy my sweet tooth any day!!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Delicious strawberry crunch cheesecake and portion with the pink cute interior.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Cupcakess for days and nice traditional carrot cake flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Friendly over the counter staff and easy going spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]First time coming into their new location on Halsted and it's absolutely stunning![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a pretty bakery with plenty of cakes, cupcakes, and more.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There are so many choices you can pick from hazelnut, chocolate, berries, and ube, but I always love getting their ube and mango cupcakes. Prices are reasonable, especially with the quality of desserts you get. Would love to come back to try their drinks and do some work here!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute space that's open late with really good cupcakes, coffee/tea, friendly service and lots of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We tried the hazelnut bomb and main squeeze, plus the freak of nature tea, which was phenomenal. Beautiful cakes for special occasions too!

    Really nice to-go packaging!

Have to update my original review since they've since switched locations and wow this new one is so cute! Plenty of inside seating and love the way they decorated the interior. I happened to be nearby so swung in and decided on the orange creamsicle cupcake because I've never seen one before. In hindsight, probably not my flavor - more geared towards kids but I appreciate how many options they have ranging from cookies to cake slices and a whole drink menu too. The cupcake was really nicely packaged so that it didn't get ruined in transit. Still a 3.5 overall rating because I haven't found a baked item I love yet but that doesn't mean I won't keep trying :)

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a cute shop in the heart of Lakeview when you need a sweet treat![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This bakery has popped up on my radar for quite some time and I decided it was time to give it a try. I was thoroughly impressed with the variety of treats available in the middle of the day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a place you could catch up with a friend in such a unique atmosphere that's styled from the 80s.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was quick and the owner came out to greet people. There's street parking and public transit options. When it came to the treats, I decided to try some croissants and PHEW they were just the right amount of flaky, not too doughy, and wonderfully buttery. I went with a slice of cake that wound up being four pieces for me. The cake was wonderfully moist and the cream cheese frosting was on point. I'll definitely be back for some cupcakes and other cake flavors, along with the croissants. One of those times where you can't go wrong with any option!

#9 for 2025 After dinner with some friends, they brought me to Jennivee's knowing full well how i love the Filipino desserts. The place is brightly lit easily seen from the street. Love the concrete ramp to get up to the elevated entrance. it builds up your anticipation that you are coming to some place special. Interesting to see gelato in a Filo bakery. The flavors tonight were rocky road, strawberry crunch, vanilla bean and blueberry lemonade. All sounded good but not what i was looking for this evening. Love the names for the cakes too like Berry Chantilly, Scarlette Cheesecake and Southern Great Cheesecake. it's the Purple Velvet that you want from here, their signature ube cake I hear is to die for. Too full from dinner, we tried a couple of their smaller offerings. The San Rival and Snowbelle. Both were good especially the San Rival. There is coffee too. A nice pairing with these beautiful and delicious desserts. I also brought back with me 3 ensamadas; regular, ube and porvolone to share with my business partners. We cut each one into 3pcs so we could each try them. All were so good and delicious. i know now i need to go back. There are many tables to sit at with friends for nice chit chats. And a few big tables for larger groups. Place is very clean, and with everything white it will be easy to notice if not. Not sure how parking can be but street parking didn't seem to be a problem.

I have loved and craved Jennivee's since I first heard about it years ago. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The new cafe is a welcome upgrade. The space is bigger and the location has easier parking.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I don't live in Chicago anymore, but I usually stop by to get a cupcake and whatever cookies and bars they have to take home. Today my friend and I went in and had muffins and coffee in addition to a big haul to take home. I also got 2 slices to take to my family in Joliet. 5, 7, and 9 yr old kids were gobbling up the purple velvet and mango mousse cakes, and they said they liked them more than chocolate! I tell everyone who asks where to go in Chicago not to miss this place.

Ask the Community - Jennivee’s Bakery

Does the new location have parking?

There is no "official" parking, but there is good street parking right in front. I have never had a problem finding a parking space. That said, you will have to pay for the parking with the Chicago Parking app.

    Are they open for dine-in?

yes and no. They do have a little seating area you can eat your cakes. During warmer days they also have a patio set up outside. Their cakes do taste exponentially better if you give it a few minutes to rest to room temp, so I recommend taking it to… Read more

Is ordering for takeout, inside, an option at the moment?

like if you go in and buy the cake to go? or like you order takeout but eat it inside?

Do they except cash and do they have vegan options?

Cash is king so I think, if not, I'm sure they will accept your cash. Whether they will have change or not is the question haha. So better bring exact change or tip your change :)

Does anyone know their email address? Their website is down and I'd like to email them about ordering a cake.

Hey all! Does this bakery have any gluten free options? TIA!

It's been a while since I've been there, but, yes, I seem to remember they had a few gluten free options.

Seating is pretty limited, but it looked like most folks were picking up pastries to go, but either way you order at the front one party at a time. Truffle Croissant (5/5): A must get, super intense black truffle against a perfectly flaky and chewy buttery croissant. The large bits of pearl sugar add pops of sweetness that I loved. Mango Tart (4.75/5): Mango really shines through with melt in your mouth texture and fruity sweetness. Coconut pasty cream adds almost a nutty flavor and luscious mouthfeel to contrast against the lightly crunchy cookie crust. Prosciutto Croissant (4.5/5): Pastry again impeccable with sharp saltiness from the prosciutto and cheese. Still absolutely delicious, but hard to recommend with how good the other items were. Longanisa Breakfast Sandwich (5/5): Another life changing bite. Hash brown add on is unbelievably crunchy against the egg bite that is pillowy soft and fluffy roll. Longanisa is salty and sweet, just the best way to start your morning. Lumpia (3.75/5): Comes out piping hot and the meat still stays juicy and bouncy. Good, not crazy. Filipino Breakfast with Longanisa and Tocino (4/5): Garlic rice is fluffy, but heavy on the garlic exactly like I love it. Sunny side up eggs were perfectly cooked and the two meats were actually the weakest components, a bit chewier than expected. Chicken Adobo (4.25/5): Chicken has almost a nice char on the outside and doused in a tangy sauce with crispy garlic bits. Tender and juicy, personally preferred this over the longanisa and tocino. Sweet Corn Hojicha (2/5): Only real whiff that we tried. While you could really taste the corn, unfortunately ended up being wayyyy too sweet and I couldn't have more than a sip or two.

(Also, keep in mind that mornings are walk-in only, you can't order the breakfast sandwich online like you can with the pastries, and reservations are strictly for their dinner service.) Stepping inside is a welcome relief from the sun. The interior is modern and light-filled, featuring a gorgeous pastry display at the central ordering counter. The space is tight, loud, and bustling. Which makes sense given the sheer volume of people they serve, so you'll have to try and snag one of the few seats along the edges. Once we finally ordered, the service was incredibly fast. The sandwich came out in less than 5 minutes! It was definitely a good, tasty sandwich, but I wouldn't say it was amazing. Ultimately, while I enjoyed the food and the beautiful space inside, I probably wouldn't wait 45 minutes in the blazing sun to get it again.

I bought 3 and my friend got 2. Calamansi cream + pistachio paste danish was my favorite. The Calamansi cream was the perfect texture and density with a fragrant citrus note. When I took a sip of coffee afterwards it made my coffee taste like I was drinking fresh orange juice. The pistachio is more cake like inside than full paste and isn't too sweet. Flaky dough, soft pistachio center and creamy top with a sharp citrus cut. Peach + raspberry Melba danish. The peaches were soft. I'm not familiar with a Melba dessert but the center of this was almond paste which is not my favorite but if you like almond and tart danish it would hit the spot. Raspberry espresso cream cheese cinnamon roll was a fun fruity twist to a cinnamon roll. Couldn't really tell there was espresso though. Blueberry lime cheesecake danish. I also liked this one because of the lime. It really cuts through the heaviness. The fruits on top were also fresh. They also have one day old blind boxes. I grabbed a 6 piece day old box to go and it was actually 6 different pasteries, half sweet and half savory! It only repeated 1 of the pasteries I had originally tried so I'm excited to try more, especially the savory ones. It's an amazing deal if you just want to try a variety of flavors. Tried the Hot dog danish - really good! Upscale pigs in a blanket vibes. The tiny fried are seasoned perfectly and add a fun crunch. The splashes of Dijon cut through and it doesn't feel oily at all.

Let me tell you, it was all I hoped it could be and more. The storefront was pretty small with a few tables- between the size, hours, and popularity (they were only open a few days a week and closed at 2pm), I suspected that the shop sold out often. I went on a weekday and there was still a good selection of pastries left around 11am. The staff was super nice and helpful as I struggled to make a decision. They shared that the strawberry milk croissant was their bestseller, so I opted for that. It was filled with fresh strawberry mascarpone and fresh strawberry puree. Despite the croissant's decadent appearance, it was not at all too sweet. I'm not typically the biggest croissant fan (I know, I know, no one is perfect) but this pastry blew me away. The filling was super generous without overpowering the delicate dough, which was baked to crispy perfection. Sadly, I don't get to the area often, but I will 100% be back asap to try more of the menu. Run- don't walk to pay a visit!
