We hired Jenn and her crew 9 months ago. Our garden and property have never looked so good. Jenn is truly an expert and has restored our rhododendron grove back to health and beauty. The fruit trees, roses, and shrubs were pruned with precision. I can't wait to see the Spring blooms.

Jenn and her team have been caring for our garden for many years. I appreciate her knowledge and expertise with plants and the care she puts into our garden. She is extremely detail oriented and meticulous in the way that she prunes roses and other plants and artfully trims small trees for the best shape. She is always responsive to requests I might have and she notices and alerts me when there are any problems. We are lucky to have her!

The staff is so friendly, knowledgable, and helpful! They have the cutest gifts, whether you're looking for a housewarming gift, new baby gift, work secret santa, birthday, etc. This shop is sort of hidden -- a hidden gem -- behind the Carlmont Shopping Center, but it's for the best because they always have enough parking back there. It's a lovely place to walk around, be surrounded by nature, and get inspiration for your own space. My indoor plants and my outside patio have never looked better thanks to Ladera!

They have outdoor and indoor plants available. As I kept walking in, they also have a store inside with random cute things like candles, decorations, jewelry, baby clothes etc. Smelled nice and clean inside. Saw staff taking care of the outdoor plants. So I found a cute plant but when I got to the cashier to pay, I asked if she happens to know or see if they had a bigger version. To my surprise she answered with "what we have out there is what have. Have you seen a bigger a version?" Honey, I wouldn't have asked if I saw one wouldn't I? Kind of disappointed with her reply. But maybe she's new not sure what the situation is. They have plenty of succulents to choose from if you're into them. The prices for the plants were fair.

I went to their shop on a Monday and Ordered a funeral arrangement /spray for a Friday service at…read morethe church for a total of $360. I chose the Paradise spray as the young man who had passed away really liked Hawaii. I asked the young lady that took the order whether it's large or if I pay more would it be larger and she said all the sprays are the same size and if you pay more, they would just add more flowers but the size would be the same. So, I asked her to charge me more for more flowers $300 and go from there. Told her it's for a young man who has passed away and I want it to be special. After calling someone to make sure they can do this arrangement due to the fact that they were very busy with weddings that weekend, She assured me that it would be done and made special. She even said that they have all the flowers in-season to be able to make this spray. At he church service on Friday I was so EMBARRASSED by the arrangement. It was small and not balanced (maybe it was missing the leaves around it... not sure) but it looked terrible or maybe the florist just didn't take the time to arrange in properly. I think they should not take additional business when they cannot handle it. I know the cost of a funeral spray does not compare to the revenue they get for a wedding but this was important to me and I wanted something special for my loved one. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to take a picture because I did not want anyone associating those flowers with me. After calling the store, a couple of people (Regina and then Mark) called me back and just apologized; At first offering to refund me 50% but then rescinding that offer. Their messages mentioned that I was charged appropriately for the arrangement and they would contact me but I never heard back after leaving my review. There should be better training of their staff when a customer orders so they do not give the wrong information about the size of an arrangement and also, not take on additional business when they cannot handle it. Think twice about ordering a one-off arrangement from here; their focus is only on big-ticket revenue from weddings.

Unfortunately, Garden Supply Hardscapes has become one of the most overpriced suppliers we've seen. Over the past several years, we've watched their prices increase year after year, far beyond what we've experienced at competing suppliers. At this point, many of their products are approaching double the price of comparable materials sold elsewhere. We understand that prices can increase over time, but the difference has become impossible to justify. To make matters worse, they also charge an additional fee if you don't purchase a full pallet. That policy might make sense from a business standpoint, but when it's combined with prices that are already significantly higher than the competition, it feels like customers are being penalized simply for not buying in bulk. As professionals in the industry, we have every reason to support local suppliers, but pricing has to remain competitive. We can't justify paying such a substantial premium for the exact same materials that are available elsewhere for considerably less. We have taken our business to other suppliers that offer better pricing, more transparent policies, and greater value for contractors. Unless Garden Supply makes significant changes to its pricing strategy, we won't be returning or recommending them to other professionals in the industry.

The only downside was that the Pilea involucrata 'Moon Valley' I wanted was a bit too small and looked awkward in it. Luckily, the owner was incredibly kind and offered to upsize the pot so it would fit perfectly and saved the day. Extremely happy with my purchase! In general, I think the shop could have a larger plant selection (lack of selection could be a seasonal thing?). I liked a lot of the planters and option to mix and match plants in them but didn't see a lot of plants that caught my eye. I ended up going somewhere else afterwards and took home 7 plants. That said, I do think it's worth checking out. I'll definitely go back next time I'm in the area.

There are lots of plants to check out, along with interesting pots and wall containers for them. There's been a growing selection of carnivorous plants as well! Over the past few weeks I've picked up two Nepenthes (tropical pitcher plants) and a very small sundew, and I'm very happy with my purchases. They had some lovely sarracenias (North American pitcher plants) that were tempting but I didn't purchase. This year I've had a renewed interest in houseplants, especially carnivorous plants. My son and I have been trading tips and figuring out what conditions are best for each type of plant. The owner was very helpful with some advice for our fiddle leaf fig plant (in most cases the answer is more light, assuming you aren't overwatering). Once when we come in there were lots of cuttings of succulents being propagated and small sundews being grown; the shelves are full of little surprises like this. Looking forward to our next visit, since I still have room on my plant shelf for one more hanging plant!

Juliana's vision is that your backyard should be an extension of your home, another room. Working with Juliana was wonderful. She listened to our ideas and came up with an initial plan that we tweaked a couple times until we had a final design . It is now a space we are drawn to and use often. It truly is an extension of our home. Juliana and Mauricio (who she works with on the hardscape) did a wonderful job in transforming our yard. Communication with her was excellent. She stayed on budget and the only work order changes were a result of our wanting something different from the original plans. She has a great knowledge of plants and design. I would highly recommend her.

After meeting with a…read morecouple of other designers who either wanted to completely redo our front/rear yards or were super expensive (one company had a minimum job fee of $15,000!!) our plans to fine tune the back yard & redo the front yard had been put on hold. After a young driver in a big pick up truck plowed through our front yard on a rainy day, the search was on again to redo the front yard in a way that would also provide some sort of safety barrier. Juliana came to the rescue with incredibly artistic & creative designs for the front & rear yards. For the front yard, with the use of metal gabion boxes filled with large rocks, they will provide a structural safety barrier while also looking artistic (pictures to follow once they're installed). She also has vast knowledge of unique plants which will complement our Spanish style home. For the rear yard she came up with great solutions for helping us incorporate more seating & more privacy by changing a few layout features as well as supplementing existing bamboo & plants. Our other design challenge with the back yard which Juliana creatively solved: We have dogs who are tormented by squirrels running up & down our redwood tree. In an effort to keep our dogs from climbing & chewing the tree we've had a makeshift wooden barrier at the base of the tree which is none too attractive. Juliana is going to build a wood surround to protect the tree but which also adds an interesting design element to the yard. I wish we'd had the foresight to hire a designer from the get go rather then doing bits & pieces on our own only to redo our work since it didn't quite deliver. It is money well spent to hire a designer. Either way, thanks to Juliana we're super excited to get our yards projects implemented!
