It's kind of a strip mall local diner like spot and when you come in you are told to find any spot to sit and that's where you sit. Had a lunch and a dinner here and it was sooooo good. I suggest you just look at what is going past you on other's plates to see what's popular (the Menudo was a big seller as was the waffles) and consider ordering that or just go for what you like on the menu. I wasn't too thrilled with the corn beef hash I had (it was too salty and looked like it came out of a can) but everything else we ate was great. If you are in the area just go and enjoy! read more

I got the tortilla con Huevo for $9 and a coffee. Overall, the place was very clean and well-kept. The food was simple but well prepared and delicious. The staff was friendly and professional, and the service was quick. I got the sense that there were a lot of locals here that frequent the place. We were looking for a good breakfast spot near our hotel and saw the good reviews for this restaurant. Plus, I got a kick out of the fact that it was called Jerry Bob's. It doesn't get any more diner-like than that. The restaurant offers comfort food with some Southwestern elements. There were quite a few people waiting for a table when we got here around brunch time but the wait was only 15-20 minutes for our party of 6. I had the chilaquiles. I knew I was at the right place for this dish when the server asked me if I wanted them crispy or soft. I've never actually been asked this when I've ordered them so I appreciate that I have options. I went with crispy because I don't like soggy chips. It did take a while for our meals to arrive since it was so busy. When they did arrive one of our orders had the sides switched but our server was good in notifying us shortly after we received all our plates. The chilaquiles looked delicious, with the crispy fried chips smothered in smoky red chile sauce, with a moat of refried beans, some sliced avocado, and over easy eggs. Joanna and I eat breakfast here when we're in Tucson. This morning Joanna asked for bacon and eggs scrambled soft. When I asked her, "How are your eggs," she said "This is how soft scrambled should be." I asked for a western omelette with green chili added. The cook put green chili on top and inside the omelette. During a visit to Tucson in October, I stumbled upon this restaurant during the last gasp of Tucson's monsoon season. The hotel where I normally stay had no rooms, and the hotel where I ended up had no breakfast, so off I went in search of breakfast on a morning of what can only be described as apocalyptic rain. Through the deluge, the lighted interior of Jerry Bob's shone like a beacon. Though the place was jammed, I easily found a seat at the counter, where I was promptly greeted by a kind but efficient server who set down a (much needed) cuppa joe before​ I could count ten. On either side of me, diners tucked into steaming bowls of menudo with all the fixins but plenty of people were enjoying typical American-style breakfasts also. This is the kind of place where eggs are cooked properly to order. Eggs over medium arrive with whites cooked all the way through and molten yolks, but from my vantage point at the pass where the food was flying out of the kitchen, I saw properly poached eggs, as well, and every breakfast plate was both heaped with food but also well composed. Long story short, if you want a hearty, lovingly prepared breakfast at a reasonable price, and you don't have all day, Jerry Bob's is the place to go. While dining here one early morning before dropping off my boyfriend to the airport, we decided to stop here since it was close. Bad decision. One of their daily specials is the house machaca. I ordered this with over easy eggs and hash browns. It looked nice, but the meat was salted and stringy and inedible. I didn't eat it. The hash browns looked weird... Maybe old? Really gross. Diner-style breakfast, I read a couple of the reviews and made the smart choice to go with the "Huevos Garcia" even though I had no idea what was coming. While it was being prepared, my waitress took great care of my coffee cup. I probably had six cups of coffee with breakfast this morning. My breakfast arrived. A very big pile of hash browns mixed with onions and peppers and salsa and cheese. And my three (three!) poached eggs were perfectly done. It was a big portion and very filling, cooked perfectly. Was visiting Tucson and I asked the guy at the car rental place at the airport for a good recommendation for breakfast near the airport. He said, I'd probably like Jerry Bob's. He was right! I did. You get plenty of food for the money. They have some really reasonable specials. I had two eggs, a tamale, fresh tortilla, salsa, and beans for $5.99. The quality of food was very good. I can't recommend the tamale though. Not so great. Not worth the calories. Had a funny taste to it. The flour tortilla was terrific, as were the beans and the salsa. Not sure if they make their own tortillas and salsa, but they seemed homemade. The place was packed with locals. They know a good place for breakfast or lunch when they find one. If you're near the Tucson airport, and want some breakfast or lunch. This is your place. It's easy to find, because it's right next to Denny's and across the street from the Waffle House. read more

On your way to the Tucson international airport and you find your flight is delayed. Do you go with the national chain restaurant or get a little crazy and try something different? We broke out of the mold tried something different. Yes, this was the right choice. Jerry Bob's is a local diner/café. The dining room was clean and well lit and smelled like a fresh cup of coffee - inviting. The patrons seemed quite comfortable and the dining room was full just before lunch - definitely an upbeat vibe. Plenty of convenient offstreet parking out front makes this a convenient stop. The server was super attentive, Five star. She brought us our meals the meatloaf mashed potatoes and green beans hit the spot. The meatloaf was well seasoned, the gravy was perfect and the mashed potatoes were delightful. My daughter had an omelette made to order and loved it. You could see the picture. She ordered hers with fruit and found it to be fresh and nicely presented. Our beverages were kept full. Prices were reasonable and I suggest you eat here before going to the airport. Whenever I witness a cavalier display of utter dishonesty, it makes me wonder about dishonest acts that I don't have an opportunity to see. While I do not know for certain that what I witnessed today in this location was a single isolated incident, common sense suggests it wasn't. The action appeared practiced and familiar to the server. It was after the noon hour and I watched an employee take a half full pot of decaf and pour about 2/3 of it into a near empty serving pot of regular coffee. The only reason I stopped in to this location was to get a quick bite and load up on caffeine. I am addicted to caffeine and the early afternoon requires a jolt so this gray-haired near-senior can make it through the remainder of the day. Actions like that I witnessed are unfair to customers and dishonest. It makes me wonder if there is similar dishonesty occurring in the kitchen, at the credit card machine, or in some other area. I found the behavior I witnessed to be a form of deception. I will not return. I can't help but believe other patrons have witnessed what I observed today. Shame on you Jerry Bobs! read more

During my short day and a half in Tucson, I found Jerry Bob's through Yelp. It was conveniently within walking distance from the airport hotel I was staying at, so I came here for breakfast both mornings I was here. It definitely is a busy place--almost all the tables were occupied when I came both times, but I didn't have to wait at all for a seat at the countertop. As soon as I sat down, the waitress asked if she could get any drinks started for me. After being handed a much needed coffee, I was presented with a menu. The first day I ordered the Huevos Garcia and the second day I ordered a Denver omelet. Both days, the food turned out great, and the portions were generous and fairly priced (at least compared to what I'm used to in San Francisco). The staff here are efficient, yet friendly. They are constantly zipping around making sure coffees and waters are topped up -- I don't think my coffee ever dropped to below half empty either day. But while they're moving about, they take time to chat and catch up with their regulars and also to check on how everything is going with the meal. This restaurant is a bit out of the way from downtown Tucson, but if I'm ever staying by the airport again, I would definitely drop by next time! read more
