Cheap meal with poor quality food and equally poor service. I can only hope that it was the day of the week in the time of day that I went that affected the food and the service but I'm not exactly sure after reading some reviews on Yelp and here on Google. It is pretty convenient that it is a seat yourself restaurant, I quickly found a seat it was clean and the table that was appropriately set with place settings. I waited for 8 minutes before one young lady came and asked what I wanted to drink a massively signs hot chocolate topped with a decent amount of whipped cream I surely cannot complain about) waited for another 3 minutes until another young lady came and slammed a menu in front of me. It took approximately 7 minutes for her to make her rounds and take my order. She then removed the menu and walked away without saying anything. 9 minutes later I received my meal: eggs, hash browns, and toast. Definitely can't complain about the eggs or toast AZ it takes a lot to mess that up but there was something wrong with the hash browns. They were cut in a perfect rectangle and it took a knife to cut them. They were obviously overcooked. When I was done eating, the same lady who rudely put down my menu and took my order came back and put the bill in front of me. I kindly asked her if I paid at the register or if she took it and she motioned back towards the register. This location is on the corner of Valencia and Tucson Boulevard. Located in a small strip mall across from competitors Waffle House and Denny's, it is by far the best of the three. Servers are attentive, the coffee hot, and the portions large. The breakfast menu is extensive. I compare all breakfast places on their 2 egg breakfast specials, and Jerry Bob's is right in there with 2 eggs, hash browns and toast for $1.99. My personal favorite is the Huevos Garcia - hash browns mixed with peppers, onion and cheese covered with salsa, and eggs - $5.99. It usually keeps me satisfied for most of the day. After seeing many of the positive reviews for Jerry Bob's, I was hoping to be proved wrong about my general dissatisfaction with diner food. The food is generally cheap and the server who helped me was friendly and welcoming. They have a good mix of American and Mexican food options. However, what I ordered left me disappointed. Here is what I ordered: Eggs and chorizo: Besides the chorizo, the rest of the dish falls short. Chorizo, though salty, had a lot of rich spices and was cooked well. The eggs were cooked okay but it did not look like three scrambled eggs. Although the refried beans tasted okay, they were lukewarm which was made evident by the strands of cheese that failed to melt. As I mentioned earlier, the hostess was great. She was friendly and would come by to check on me regularly. There is plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. The menu is along the lines of diner food. Perfect for breakfast. Also bonus points for being able to get biscuits and gravy as your side item. The menu offers a 24 hour breakfast for those of us who love to get our waffle and egg fix anytime. For me, and my mom, we ordered the avocado and bacon omelet, steak and eggs with fruit on the side. The good: the omelet was delicious, not over cooked and chocked full of bacon, cheese and covered with slices of delicious, ripe avocado. I opted for hash browns with it. The bad: the cook forgot to make it a full egg white only omelet AND also made the hash browns mush. I prefer a bit of crunch to my hash yah know? My mom ordered the steak. The good: cooked to perfection, juicy, AND flavorful. Her eggs were over easy and perfectly cooked as well. The bad: the cook gave my mom three eggs not the two that actually came with the order...which really isn't bad...except for company bottom line. Anywhoo, I digress. Went here because I was staying at the Hyatt down the road (which is less than appetizing for breakfast) and was very pleased with the food and the service. Sat at the counter and ordered the bacon avocado omelette. It had lots of avocado and bacon so they don't skimp on the meat or toppings. Good place for kids to eat. Coffee was a bit weak for my taste but that was expected in a place like this. The best part was all the employees had a smile on their face and I never felt rushed or like I was a burden.
