I'm from Lanham ,MD . Moved to Calvert in 1998. I was so happy to see that Jerry opened Jerry's Place. The crab cake/dish was the best I've ever had. Last night my husband and I were disappointed to see that the recipe had changed. Don't get me wrong, it was a great cake, just not what we remembered a few years ago ati Jerry's Place. Because of the cost, my family was not able to frequent Jerry's Place as much as we would like. So it's been a while since I've had a meal there. For my 60th birthday, my husband and family took me to Jerry's Place, a restaurant that I've promoted to newcomers. The wait was no problem. The people that waited on us were so attentive and very friendly. In the past, years ago, Jerry would come to every table to great guest. Last night, there was someone, I believea relative, hoping it wasn't Jerry (like I said it's been a while since we'ves een Jerry) , greeted every single table in the restaurant, but ours. We were a table of 4 my husband , daughter, son and me. Whatever! We spent $ 350, 1 doz. Oysters, 1 cake, 2 specials (steak and jr cake) and 1 order of tenders and 5 cocktails. Well this was a welcome find while driving back from Costco. Jerry's is an unassuming little place located right on the highway and if we were not looking for it specifically might have sped right past. We grabbed a quick snack since we did not eat lunch and picked up a crab cake sandwich, cream of crab soup and Maryland Crab soup and we super impressed. The crab cake sandwich was awesome nothing but limp crab and mayo. It came with a small side of old bay and Tatar sauce to season if you choose but honestly it doesn't need it. The soups were really good. The cream of crap has a nice curry flavor with a buttery sweet crab taste but the one I actually preferred was the Maryland crap would. Crap, tomatoes, veggies total comfort food. The last thing to review is their Covid precautions which they do a great job. Good separation between the staff and customers to protect both sides. Separate areas for sanitized and dirty pens, hand sanitizer at the desk set up. Good job guys and stay safe. I'll definitely be back. read more

As a first-timer and a tough food critic, I'll say this restaurant is a new favorite of mine. We moved to the area last year and drive passed it every day to and from work and never knew this gem was here. I'm glad I used this platform to find it. From the moment you enter you feel at home and the service is unmatched. Everything we ordered was delicious -- even our three kids thought so and y'all know how kids can be. We ordered the crab dip and calamari for appetizers, then I had the Grand-Dad crab cake, baked potato and kale. The Mrs, had the same, but the senior crab cake. Our son had another order of the crab dip that he loved but couldn't finish, our oldest daughter had the haddock bites and our youngest had the chicken tenders (because she loves chicken tenders). The peanut butter pie took my taste buds for a ride and the kids enjoyed their brownies. I'd give this place 100 stars if I could. read more

Let me preface this by saying that I never visited the Jerry's Seafood when it was in Lanham before Jerry sold it (shame on me) Yesterday was my redemption! When I tell you everything hung was Awesome (LEGO movie voice) that is what it is It was our lucky day because Jerry happened to be in the building yesterday & he provided me and my family with not only history but treated us like we were FAMILY! Our waitress was Dawn, very pleasant & accommodating. We started out with sweet tea for the table and when I say it's the perfect mix, trust me. Since it was our first time there, Jerry gave us a sample of the fried haddock, kale, stewed tomatoes, shrimp & the roux used for the cream of crab soup...all yummy to my tummy! My dad said the stewed tomatoes were just like my great grandmother used to make We shared the cream of crab soup...great texture and lots of crab meat. My mom ordered the stuffed shrimp that were HUGE, do you hear me...she could only eat one and took the rest home! The meal came with two sides so she ordered the kale and stewed tomatoes My dad went in another direction and ordered the haddock with a crab cake and he also ordered the kale and stewed tomatoes (of course, childhood memories) The kid ordered chicken fingers (ugh KIDS, lol) with kale (@ least she getting her veggies) I ordered the scallops & oysters w/ the wedge salad (bleu cheese dressing) and fries! The salad was so good and the homemade bleu cheese dressing was excellent! Everything here when ordered fried is fried perfectly and the crab anything is nothing but crab meat...NO FILLERS! Dessert was bread pudding, peanut butter pie and key lime pie...so full! Upon entering this quaint little restaurant, we were greeted enthusiastically by the owner, Jerry. I felt like we were his best friends he hadn't seen for awhile. We enjoyed small tastes of the kale greens, stewed tomatoes and haddock nuggets before we even opened our menus! The tastes were excellent! We finally ordered after deep discussions about the many choices both on and off the menu. Hubby ordered the mariner's platter with coleslaw and applesauce. I created my own platter with fried shrimp and scallops with a side of the haddock nuggets with a baked sweet potato and more of those delicious kale greens. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by a friendly staff member. Shortly there after the owner Jerry shook my hand, asked if I had ever been here before, introduced himself and welcomed us to his establishment. We were given samples of the stewed tomatoes...YUMMY, kale, spiced shrimp and haddock. Everything was simple and delicious! Did I mention they were just samples? I ordered one of the specials was cold water lobster and it was flakey and delicious. Our server Krystyn P. She was very patient. Krystyn P. was awesome not to mention she was very attentive. If you are looking for delicious seafood and outstanding service then you ABSOLUTELY MUST visit this restaurant it's great food and great down home service! Talking with Jerry, the owner there is something for the "land lovers". Awesome pork chops and chicken tenders. This was my first visit here but certainly my last. UPDATE....04/27/19 I decided to share my experience of this laid back friendly Family restaurant. I called ahead and spoke to Jerry Jr. and I informed him that I was bringing my boyfriend to the restaurant to celebrate his birthday day. He informed me that they do not sing but will give the bday person a free dessert . Well we arrived before the rest of my party and the woman at the front door was hesitant to seat us because, everyone has not arrived. Now during my first visits the owner gave of samples of the haddock, kale and stewed tomatoes. This time they gave us samples of the haddock and the rolls. I figured they only was bringing out the rolls and fish bites because the entire party had not arrived. Well after the party arrived I asked about the kale and stewed tomatoes and they brought out a small bowl for 4 people to share. I was flabbergasted! Seriously!?! I guess we stayed to long because the woman that initially sat us was giving me the evil eye! Unfortunately the owner Jerry Sr. was not there. His son said that he was in the hospital. It's my sincere hope that he gets well soon because he really liven the place up and he makes sure you have an awesome experience. This time I was very disappointed and I am not sure I would want to come back. The food was good but to charge 26-27.00 for a tiny pork chop is ridiculous. I couldn't believe how small it was. The quality and service suffers when Jerry Sr. is not there. In closing although my server was informed that we were celebrating a bday she didn't say happy birthday nor did she give the dessert to my boyfriend. I am sure Kristen could have done better. Had a delicious lunch here over the weekend. We were greeted by the owner who sat us at a table & had our waitress bring over a sample of their fried haddock w/ tater sauce. Both were excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant our entire visit offering to bring us samples of items we had not tried before. I'm a bread & butter slut and she was on top of that also, so that really made me happy We opted to start with an appetizer of the fried calamari. The calamari was very fresh and extremely tender (not at all rubbery) however it wasn't fried very crispy. But it was still very tasty. It came with a spicy Asian dipping sauce which was nice but I also like ranch & a squeeze of lemon so she brought that and it was delish. Definitely could tell the ranch was made in house. For an entree we decided to share a combination plate & went w/ the crab cake & fried oysters w/ our sides being the wedge salad & collard greens. The wedge salad was excellent, the dressing was made w/ a very strong blue or Roquefort cheese so it was flavorful & pungent! I'm not normally a fan of greens but these were very good, just needed a pinch of salt. The fried oysters were fresh but again not crispy, not sure if they rushed them out of the kitchen or if that is just how they serve their fried items (although the haddock sample we were given was nice & crispy) The crab cake was beyond amazing, it tasted like you were literally eating meat right from the crab shell. By far the best seafood restaurant in southern MD. We ordered the mariner platter which was a sample of everything and added the softshell crab. Amazing! Softshell is cleaned and upper shell removed leaving only the good tasting parts. Crab cake had no filler and large chunks of crab. Owner brought out a sample of the kale and tomatoes which were two sides that we wouldnt have ever considered but surprised us on how great they tasted. Deserts are made in house and waitresses stay on too of the refills and greet you with bread and a piece of fish when you arrive. Already planning our next trip. Highly recommend. read more

If you love a good crabcake and don't mind a little drive down Route 4 then you must try Jerry's Place. The family owned business has a warm and friendly atmosphere from the servers and the owner. We were well taken care of and the were very accomodating with the boys. The owner walks around talking to all of the customers in this small and quaint restaurant filled with walls of pictures of amily and friend that clearly tell a great story of love, laughter and good times. Wonderful people. Jerry greets you at the door and chats with people as they dine. They brought out samples of kale, stewed tomatoes, fish bites. And the two crab soups one creamy and one with veggies. The kale had a twelve year old swooning and spooning it up like crazy. He had the rich curry flavored cream of crab soup. The Colonel and I split a senior sized crab cake with delicious coleslaw and fries. Carafes of tea, both regular and sweet, graced the table. The waitress and other staff were fast, friendly and attentive. We finished the meal with slices of banana cream and peanut butter pie, which both took second place in the Calvert County fair last year. Open till 7 on Sundays, it was a great way to end a day of hiking and fossil hunting at Calvert Cliffs state park. read more

Really not sure what's going on there but can't recommend this place in good conscious. Had Jerry's for the first time in awhile to celebrate Mother's Day and was disappointed. I remember their crab cakes being very good but found them bland, lacking flavor, and with shell in every bite. The strangest thing was the cream of crab soup which they used Indian curry powder in. I personally love curry, but in this case it completely overwhelmed the crab and didn't even resemble the original dish. I don't think we will be returning. read more

I live in Calvert County and have been to Jerry's many times during summer months. Their crab cake is full of chunks of Maryland blue crab held together with mayo. No fillers. But I used to eat crab cakes that had a touch of mustard to them. Either French's yellow or Dijon. Just mayo is bland. But jerry's had chunks of crab meat. Maybe if they add a dash of mustard along with the mayo it would be super? Their side of stewed tomatoes is just like my grandmom used to make -- slightly sweet, bread cubes. Found this place after my truck got totaled on Route 4 and I was in the hospital for observation. Other than the Tundra, I'm doing okay. Jerry the Owner walks from table to table with his shorts and red Nikes making us Montgomery County-ers feel like family. He is so proud of this place and rightfully so. Servers bring a few shrimp and fried haddock bites, and a taste of the side orders. There is nothing like this place in MC or DC. Grandad Crab cake 16 oz amazing, bread pudding amazing. Mmmm good! Jerry's is one of my parents' favorite places to go in Calvert County. They live in southern St. Mary's, so it says a lot that they're eager to make the drive to Jerry's in Prince Frederick. I finally got the chance to go with them. The customer service of the wait staff was wonderful, and the owner would walk around and check in on us. He was very nice. Fair warning, the food is very expensive for what it is. The crab dip appetizer should not be $20. The cream of crab soup was good, if you like a curry flavor. It had a lot of lump crab, which is very important to me. For my entree, I got the fried oyster platter with a side of kale and french fries. The oysters were delicious, kale was great and prepared like collards, and fries were tasteless and needed salt or some other flavor. Again, very expensive for what it was, being $32. I recommend Jerry's, but just a heads up that the prices are high for a normal fun-of-the-mill seafood restaurant. read more

This place was great, a portion of our party arrived about 30 minutes early and the owner came out and brought us in. Very friendly atmosphere, once everyone arrived the waiters brought out sampling dishes at the request of the owner so that we could try and altogether we ended up ordering oysters rockafeller, calamari, Maryland crab soup, tomato soup, and kale. Personally, I would say that the oysters rockafeller (smothered in cheese and bacon) was the best I ever had even when pitted against Dragos Charbroiled oysters. After that the calamari was good as expected and I thoroughly enjoyed the Maryland crab soup which actually had more crab than soup. At this point I was pretty full and without any reservations continued to order the entree which was a crab cake and haddock special moderately priced at around $35. The haddock was as expected and personally the haddock bites which we tried earlier having more breading should take a spot on the menu as the entree. Moving onto the crab cake, This is always one of my favorite dishes which I typically get a the port house grill or woodys seafood in upper Maryland...the Jerry's crab cake was no filler, gluten free and massive. It's my favorite crab cake now even beating out the most famous of them all "Faidleys" in Baltimore. Will return soon! read more

Always fantastic. Fresh and tasty, consistency is always spot on. Always very busy, we take the food to go. we get a bowl of the Maryland crab soup and a bowl of the cream of crab soup to mix ourselves. It's so good here. The kids love the Icelandic haddock, and I'm not usually a crab cake kind of guy... but I'll eat a 9 oz crab cake from here any day. Good food but portions are small and $10-$15 too expensive. My husband and I got the soft shell crab entree special and the fried oysters. The soft shell crab was perfectly done though the Asian style sauce it came with was gross. The kale side dish was OK but the stewed tomatoes were so sweet that they were inedible. The fried oysters seemed to have too much batter and were half mushy. The cole slaw and fries sides were nothing special. Overall with one beer and tip we left $90 poorer and still hungry. It's just too much to pay for what's very simply made food. By the way, I found the caricatures on the walls cute before I realized they the restaurant sells wall space to whoever wants to be memorialized there. This place is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! It is a small family owned restaurant and it's very clear that everyone there takes pride in the food and customer experience! After we were seated Jerry came to our table. He introduced himself and asked if we had ever been there. We had not. He then assured us that we were going to like the food and there were items he had to taste. He sent samples of stewed tomatoes, kale, fish bites & soft shell crab! All of it was on point! We ended up ordering a crab cake meal and a stuffed shrimp meal with kale, tomatoes & baked potato sides. We both were so stuffed, but didn't want to stop eating! Brought the left overs home. Come for the delicious food, stay for the hospitality! Tired from a day in the sun at the beach, we washed up on Jerry's shores not long before they closed. They revived us. Our service was outstanding. All the regulars were so helpful. The kitchen brought us samples of so many things so we new exactly what to order, THE CRAB CAKE (which is my new favorite food & i don't throw that superlative around lightly), haddock, slaw, soft shell appetizer, Deborapolitans, and even peanut butter pie & lemon cheesecake for dessert. The owners stopped by to check in on us. Our server was so great. Dirty plates, of which there were many, were whisked away quickly, glasses were kept full!
