I can't believe it's been two years since my last review, how time flys. Got here after the lunch, rush and decided on the regular Italian. Across the counter, I could see a tub of freshly cooked bacon, which I have to admit I would've liked to have had on my sub, but failed to ask. Just like the last sandwich I had here, it needed something to make it pop besides peppers. Some spicy mustard, salsa or bacon would have made it complete. I like the fact that you can see it all assembled in front of you with the fresh ingredients. When it's time to settle up the tip screen/jar will be waiting. Not only is this place slow, but it's also not welcoming. I came here to pickup my order and they had me waiting for 25 minutes. They gave every person that came after me their orders but made me wait until I left myself. Workers look moody and they move slower than a turtle. They told me my order is being worked on at 7:15pm. I stopped in at this location for a quick lunch. While I do enjoy Jersey Mike's, this was my least enjoyable meal at one. I got the #8 club with chips and a drink. The food was okay I think but the ambience was just awful. They played an alternative music station fairly loud. I would've described the music as grunge genre. I appreciate that some people might like grunge but it would be one of my last choices of music to listen to while trying to enjoy a meal. The environment was all-around way too loud. The place has a policy to have the staff greet people as they come in. Fine but it was so loud that they had to shout their greetings. I love Jersey Mikes normally but tonight the service was a mess. They were busy with to-go orders so the sandwich makers shorted me on my meats and then dropped almost all the toppings out of my sandwich while moving it down the line to the cash register. Once I got home I had to add lettuce, tomato and ham from my refrigerator to the sandwich just so I wasn't eating 80% bread. Jersey knows how to make a good sandwich. It's the bread and spice seasonings and olive oil blend that makes the sandwich taste so good plus the freshly sliced deli meat. They slice it fresh in front of you to make your sandwich. IMPRESSIVE. Also I don't know how they do it but the gluten free bread is to die for. Best hoagie bread I have tasted. Worst Jersey Mike's I have ever been to, and I go to this chain about 2 or 3 times a week. The guy that was on the slicer was taking so much effort to cut the meat and cheese so thin it was transparent. There had to less then 2ozs of meat and cheese on this sandwich. And when I said something about it he acted offended. And at the prices off a sandwich this was not value or even worth the time to eat it because all you could taste was bread. Heard a lot about this place and so wanted to go try it on a friend's suggestion (and the Freebirds line next door was off the rails). It's your standard sandwich shop thats not too unlike any other. The bread is extra soft and the ingredients are fresh, especially the sliced meat. That said, I don't recommend getting the reuben - the bread is too soft to hold up to the sandwich and it lacks that rye component but the meat and cheese is good - could use more sauerkraut and russian dressing though. All in all decent sandwich shop if that's your thing. read more

Food was excellent as always! Unfortunately the staff wasn't. Maybe an off night? I was "sandwiched" between two people each getting 1 sandwich ahead of me and three people behind me each getting 1 sandwich. Three of the five were cold sandwiches btw and boy were they quick and efficient! My issue was the attitude I received for two different reasons. 1) my coupon was for another location and I tried to apologize as I explained I could only afford one without the bogo. An attitude began with me (originally it was towards the coworker who waited on me) and then I paid cash as that's all I could find and an ever bigger attitude. I worked for years in restaurants and coffee shops. Local, franchises and corporate restaurants. I'd have been killed for acting that way to a customer by the customer and later by my manager when the customer would have complained about my attitude. I won't be returning for a nine dollar sandwich sans anything added or modified to the sandwich. Edit: I forgot they did have two app orders come in. I think that when two people are working so diligently to help the six in person orders, the company itself should have a better method of giving these two staff members a chance to breathe as they rush and accommodate everyone. Apparently not everything is bigger in Texas. I've been going to Jersey Mike's for years. I love the addition of the vinegar and oil to the subs. In all other locations I've been to you get a large stack of meat with 3 slices of cheese for the number 7 regular. However at the Jersey Mike's in Austin you get a small stack of meat and only 2 slices of cheese. I asked for more cheese and got charged $1.15 extra for the amount of cheese I usually get at other locations. I don't know if this is a management issue but the other Jersey Mike's in Austin does the same thing. Being stingy on ingredients isn't how you keep customers. read more

Sauerkraut overwhelmed the sandwich, pastrami with minimal flavor. Without the Russian dressing it was very dry. I ordered the dressing on the side as a review reported there was too much dressing. Once we arrived, today June 12th around 6:15pm-ish, she low key had an attitude when we were ordering. We wanted to go service and she wasn't friendly at all nor did she ask us what we wanted on our sandwich or Mikes way-nothing. Then-There was a gentleman who walked in and wanted some water, she could have easily offered him the free water cup, instead she wanted to charge him for the full cup. I understand the concept of buying the cup, but the client didnt understand bc the last time he was there they only charged him .25-.50 for some water. Some inner drive compelled me to actually drop a note for this specific location of Jersey Mike's, a franchise that I feel has a little bit more nuance to its grub than Subway. Additionally, nice people make coming here worth it. When these guys opened up, they tossed a bunch of coupons out into the neighborhoods, one of which redeemable for a free sandwich. No question. The turkey provolone offered finely shaved turkey (much better than the cookie-cutter thick slices normally found at sandwich joints), equally fine provolone, and a drizzle of olive oil. All atop fluffy wheat bread. The above may sound like some gourmet sandwich, but don't be confused. JM's has some aspects going for it, but at the end of the day, don't have your expectations in the clouds.
