Update 12/18/18 The staff has changed and the quality has dropped, the last two visits I only got 2 half slices of cheese and a mini sub, not enough meat to cover the whole thing, last time cheese. Prices are going up everywhere, and I still tip, but to raise prices and cut back on the turkey slices. From twelve to eight but a half a head of Lettuce, really so let's just call it a turkey salad not sub. Service was fast and pleasant they did change gloves when handling money. read more

Stopped by for dinner after learning that they opened up! This area has needed a place like Jersey Mike's for awhile now, so it was nice to see they were putting one in. I had the Philly, straight up, and it was really tasty. One of things I love is that everything they make is fresh and even sliced right in front of you. I didn't have to wait long for my order either. They seemed to be moving the line quickly which is always a good sign for a place that just opened. The staff was friendly and made sure to make us feel like valued customers. My only issues are that prices are a little steep for subs and they have some competition nearby, but the subs are really good so maybe that will be why they win out. Another thing was the men's bathroom was rather dirty for only being open for two days. Hopefully they'll pay attention to it and keep it in better order in the future. First time stopping by this new Jersey Mike's location and everything seemed fine until a few hours later the sickness of food poisoning started among two of my family members. At first I thought my wife was just getting sick, because she had no appetite to eat dinner due to stomach pain. Then she began vomiting over and over again, all through out the night. My youngest son, 1 year old also started vomiting about an hour after my wife had started. The only thing in common my family members had eaten was HAM based sandwiches from Jersey Mikes, and that was the only thing my wife had eaten all day. Luckily for me, I had a philly steak and cheese and my other son refused to eat or we would have been on the same boat. Having had food poisoning before from a Deli/Sub place, I can sympathize with the pain my family is going thru. Both my wife and 1 year old have been vomiting ALL night. It's 4 AM now and they are still at it and I'm still awake. Not exactly how we wanted to spend our extended Labor Day weekend. Very upset at the quality of this location. Jersey Mike's has lost my confidence in their products and they have lost a customer, make that four customers. Jersey Mike's will be lucky if they don't here from my lawyer. One would think, a brand new location would be offering high quality and fresh products to draw in the crowd, and not poisoning their clients. I ordered a cheese steak with only mushrooms and with pickles and ketchup on the side. The cheese steak was brought to me with the pickles and ketchup already on the sandwich. The guy who took my order offered to make another one but i thought it couldn't be that bad. Turns out the ketchup and pickles soaked the bread and to top it all off, the cheese was unmelted and still cold. I didn't eat the bun at all and ate about half the meat using a fork. I stalked the building for weeks before it opened once I learned a Jersey Mikes would open in Gainesville! I'm worried they might be a little apprehensive when I come in now because I was always slowly cursing by drooling with crazy eyes! I love LOVE Jersey Mikes subs, I always get the famous philly "Mikes Way" with no peppers or tomato, you canNOT go wrong. I've also been to the one in Manassas quite a few times and while the first few times I went in everyone was friendly, the last time I went in it looked like the 3 kids behind the counter were too busy dicking around with each other to help me. I know this Jersey Mikes just opened and i've only been there once but it has so far exceeded expectations and I have a feeling it will be my go to lunch spot! Oh! Also, they have outdoor seating which is so nice compared to the Manassas one, it also is tucked back off of 29 enough that you aren't bothered by the traffic there at all whereas the Manassas location is directly on Sudley! read more

I think the other reviews accurately reflect the food. My complaint is after ordering 4 subs (2 #56 @$7.45, #15 @ $6.75 & #3 @ $5.65) when I presented a BOGO coupon mailed to me, they would only discount off the cheapest sub, not the second most expensive, unlike most places. a $2 difference. small detail, but breaks my trust a bit. certainly a good sub, and miles above the largest chain of subs, but not really a 4 or 5 in my opinion. good enough to enjoy at a moderate price. Went here a couple days ago with the husband - we ordered their chipotle cheesesteak - the giant size and just shared it - pretty good size and good flavor - but the bread was really really dry and almost made the sandwich inedible - I didn't finish my half because of the bread being so bad and ended up throwing it away. We went at around 4 on a weekday so it wasn't like it was right at closing time or something. Sure the bread is probably most fresh right when they open, but it should still be fairly fresh in the afternoon. Will try them again and hopefully the bread is fresh because the flavors were good. Only other complaint was that the mayo on the sandwich was not spread out very well so you would get a few bites that were just all mayo. My coworker & I reluctantly ordered a cheesesteak deciding he would give Jersey Mike's another chance after numerous times of messing up his order. Today will be the last time. I received my order which was fine (which means they are capable), my coworkers order had some modifications to it but for some reason only 50% of it was paid attention to. I had asked for a few things on the side and no peppers. My coworker can't eat peppers due to acid reflux and his giant sized cheesesteak was smothered in them. He literally had to smother his fingers in the melted cheese to pick them out of his $20 sandwich. This was just 1 of several things that were not correct. FOOD HANDLING SAFETY ALERT! What is the point of wearing gloves if you are never going to change them? I was in tonight and saw 2 young men performing multiple duties with multiple customers and never changing their gloves the whole time: using pen and paper to take orders, picking up meat, using slicer to slice meat, grabbing and cutting bread, putting hand in lettuce, using cash register, making change, handing things to customers, touching face, and then on to the next customer without changing gloves. And there were a bunch of people in line. This place makes Subway look like a rock star. I regularly see Subway employees changing gloves in between tasks like ringing up customers and then starting the next order. I should have walked out. I threw my food away. I want to call the Health Department. I know teenagers who don't care work here and all.....but come on! YOU ARE HANDLING PEOPLE'S FOOD! YOU ARE MESSING WITH PEOPLE'S HEALTH! IT IS NOT A JOKE. People could get real sick. Imagine if they already have health issues, and then you give them food poisoning. What about kids? Pregnant women? And on top of that they have the audacity to force you to accept or decline giving a tip if you use a credit card. That puts the customer in a awkward place. I'll start by saying I am a huge fan of jersey mikes. But this jersey mikes in particular always lets me down. I guess my love for the chain keeps bringing me back but I am officially done w this location. Every time I come the service is pretty subpar w the employees seeming like they just don't want to do any work. The reason I am writing this post today is because I asked for a regular on wheat and received bread that was so undercooked it was almost raw. I regret not taking a picture before throwing it away. The bread was stringy and didn't want to separate when trying to break the Sammy in half since the employees only wanted to cut half the sandwich. My girlfriend ordered and paid for bacon on her sub and they forgot that completely. Through my 3 visits here, they have missed some type of topping or ingredient every time. It's sad because I was told the same owner owns the Warrenton location as well and that place is spot on every time. Do better read more

We love Jersey Mike's. The subs are outstanding. Much much better than Subway. In fact, I rarely eat at Subway now that I have found Jersey Mike's. Why do I like Jersey Mike's: 1. The sub rolls taste more fresh - In contrast, Subway rolls taste like flat paper. 2. The sub meat and cheese tastes fresh - In contrast, Subways meat doesn't look like meat... 3. They have the perfect combination of toppings. 4. Their subs are thicker and more filling. Cons - Staff needs to do a better job of keeping the tables clean... read more

I love Jersey Mike's, their subs are so much better than subway. This is a new location so the place is really clean. My only complaint is the tip process. While they don't come right out and ask for it, it's displayed prominently on the screen when paying, and it feels like your being guilted into providing a tip. While I don't mind tipping for good service, the sandwiches are already pretty expensive. Add a 10% tip on that and you could easily be paying $20-$25 for two sandwiches, and that's not including a drink or chips. I think they'd see more return customers if they paid their employees a little more and did away with the tipping. read more

While there are nice people who work here it is just a clown show at this point which I won't be participating in again. Ordered ahead today on their app. Arrived 5 minutes early. Not ready. No chips in bag. No drink in bag. Nothing. After witnessing several people hanging around to get theirs to go and people coming in with their orders not ready (and waiting while the store made them while the customers stood there) I walked over to see that my bag (with my name on it) still didn't have anything in it and no one making any subs. The grill guy did throw something on the grill at that point but that said to me that I would have to wait even longer (two more empty bags there by mine). At that point it was 10 minutes beyond when they said it was ready. So, in total, from order time to the time I left the store, 40 minutes elapsed. Sorry with 5 guys in there and the business I saw they could handle that easily. But they didn't . . . haven't. Just last week I complained about the rudeness of some kid that they have working the register. The last 5 times I have been there they refused to cut the subs in two pieces like I stressed I needed (I found out after leaving). Why is that a big deal? Well when you pick that big greasy sub up as one piece and take your first bite the entire contents falls out all over your lap, the ground, the floor or your table. Half the time when I order through their app they put that disgusting oregano on my sandwich when I ask them not to. Their app doesn't allow you to order fountain drinks. It doesn't allow you to order all the chips that they offer. The last month they have had no large cup lids and the last two weeks no straws. Something wrong here. But I think my money can be better spent elsewhere along with my time. Forty minutes is a big deal to me and my work life. I gave this new Jersey Mike's a few chances to get things together. I had the same order - Philly steak and cheese as advertised on the menu, no changes - over several months. My experience is pretty consistent with other reviewers here. 1. It's good! But you can get a bigger Philly, just as good (slightly better in my opinion) for two dollars less just a half mile down the street at the WaWa. Or just go across the parking lot to Wegmans. 2. Want some basic chips to go with your basic Philly? No joy. But you can have all manner of pretentious chips. 3. Yup, the teenage staff is pretty sullen. One "older" staff member (maybe late teens early 20s) taking orders is something approaching friendly. In sum, if it's convenient, you'll get a somewhat pricey but decent sub here from a less than enthusiastic staff. read more

Saturday lunch around 1:30 they were slammed and so in the weeds the service line was completely out of sandwich meats. The customer line kept growing while they were slicing meat for the line.The 5 or 6 line workers looked lost and unsupervised. I ordered the veggie wrap with ranch dressing and my guest ordered a regular sandwich. Took forever to get our food. In fact some people behind us in line received their food ahead of us. The regular sub was fine but my wrap was so soggy and drenched in ranch dressing it can only be described as a total mess. Our bill for these two items plus chips and drink for each of us came to an astonishing and wopping $21.50!! Essentially about 33% higher than Subway. When I mentioned about Chipped Credit Cards being swiped could make customer responsible young lady working got sarcastic and very unprofessional. Excellent fresh sandwiches served fast and friendly! Ask for the "off menu" number #1, it is a BLT piled high with bacon, have them "hollow out" the bread to reduce carbs, you won't be disappointed. Only 4 stars due to cleanliness, I arrived after the lunch rush so perhaps they had not yet recovered. read more

The subs are always flavorful, the ingredients fresh with cold cuts sliced for each order, with a good variety of subs and toppings. I have always found the staff to be friendly, helpful and pleasant. The shop always seems clean at the times I have visited. It is the only place I like in the Gainesville area for subs and I will be back. Ok, one complaint. The crock pickles on the counter need work! Seriously disappointed with this place tonight. Went at 5:05 P.M. and the entire staff of teenagers were in the back talking and not out front. One person on the staff finally saw me, or so I thought, but still waited over 5 minutes. When they finally came out I ordered 2 meatball subs from a rude staff member. Meatball subs are supposed to be from the hot menu but they were stone cold like they were in the fridge. Had to utilize the microwave to heat the food up; this should not be needed. Did not see a manager on location so that I could complain about the inattentive staff and cold food. This place is not worth the time or money any longer with the staff of kids on duty, who don't have any ability to manage themselves or understand good customer service or proper food preparation.
