This is the BEST Jewel-Osco I've been to. There is a location much closer to my house but I drive a little further away because of how nice this particular store is. From the moment you walk in, the entire store is decorated for the season. Colorful market umbrellas line the produce department along with balloons, garlands, and decor that make the store feel homey and welcoming. Even the tops of display cases have tasteful decor which is well thought out. There are plenty of beautiful product displays throughout the store and all of the shelves are faced with product and well stocked. The floors are shiny and clean and the employees are helpful and welcoming. Whoever is managing this store is doing a fantastic job! read more

I placed an online order and when it was delivered there is a bunch of items I didn't order the delivery person told me I would have to call jewel osco I called Dom and they told me the person I needed to talk to wasn't there that day so I called the next day they said the same thing finally on the third day I talked to somebody and they told me I couldn't do anything about it unless I returned the items. The reason I ordered it online is because I can't see I can't drive. They told me they can't do anything if I can't return the items and I told them it what cost me $8 just to get taken to the jewel. On their app you have to look up every item you order and the items I received were things I would have never even looked up. They made me call for three days to resolve the issue and then they didn't resolve it anyway. It's the last time I'll ever use their app. read more

Recently came back to this Jewel just because I did think it had the best selection of groceries and hard to find stuff that other locations don't have. Not even the locations in the city like I've mentioned in my previous reviews. Me and my wife needed help finding some items like tofu and Barbecue sauce and we we're greeted to Amanda, who was really eager and patient with us finding our items. We really appreciate her positive demeanor and sets an example for what great customer service should be. I'll definitely try and make this our new frequent shopping location from now on! read more

I just found 2 packages of 10!!!! days expired cheese on their shelf. I was shocked, the expiration day was March 05, today is March 15th. I brought cheese to customer service desk, there were two young men there and one of them just said to another- "this is crazy". They didn't apologise or said they will show it to manager and fix it, they said nothing to me and I left to pay for my groceries. What is wrong with you, guys? It's cheese! Milk product! It should not be there even one day expired and it's 10‼ What if i would give it to my child or senior would buy it without possibility to read the date? This is a shame! Also all your workers are very loud and it seems like have nothing to do. Instead of checking the dates on products, two young kids were chatting loudly near frozen fish, so loud that I couldn't even concentrate to read the ingredients and just left that area, then two ladies were chatting near alcohol department very loudly, discussing their diets and problems instead of doing their job, until senior man came out and asked them if everything was ok, only after that they started moving and do something. I don't understand why you keep all these lazy loud people in your store? I have no wish to come back for a long long time. Came here to grab a card and a few random things for a gift. There were a lot of people here grabbing what mostly looked like quarantine essentials. The toilet paper, paper towels, lysol, and mainly all sanitary items were completely gone. It unfortunately it is a common occurrence during this time at most grocery/convenient stores. The card and gift section was fully stocked and very clean. I didn't have any problem finding what I needed there. There were various associates walking around stocking things as needed and maintaining the store. The lines for checkout were lengthy to say the least. Lines were bleeding into other lines and even trailing back to the aisles. The associates ringing guests up and bagging seemed to be wearing smiles. My cashier was in a great mood! She was trying to crack a few jokes and I appreciated it. I had to run to the bathroom before I left and one thing I noticed was that there was extra signage about hand washing. It's really nice to see those reminders especially in stores that are essential and people will most likely still be visiting during this time. Wash those hands as long and as much as possible! I have been shopping at this location for about 15 years. It has steadily gone downhill in many aspects. I have seen the floor in the produce department look like someone had a food fight. Actually most of the store could/should be much cleaner. On several occasions I have had to return spoiled food. Returns at customer service can range from rude to down right nasty. On my last shopping trip I tried to redeem my rewards points for a package of toilet paper. The cost did not deduct from my order. The cashier had the manager come over to correct this. Instead of getting a credit I was double charged for my entire order! I did not notice this immediately until I saw it on my account. I now have to return to the store and deal with customer service, always an experience I dread. read more

The night shift women asked the young man bagging to help me figure out what was wrong with my Jeep. i was shopping in the bakery when I was blown away by unprofessionalism by a manager of some type. Found a super friendly woman who told me who he was after I approached her. Low and behold he is the store director. He was screaming at a staff member about a schedule and "what job is more important". All I could think was if it meant working for such a jerk- clearly it wouldn't be there. The rest of my experience was good with kind staff members. Maybe the kids should give the director an education on how to act. Not the first time I seen him act foolish with this guy but it's the first time I got Eric's name. I'm in shock! I've never been treated so horrible in any grocery store or business and it happened in the last place I expected as I've been a customer at Jewel Osco for many years. I usually go to the 24hr location by my house in Naperville but I happened to be in the area. I walked in at around 11:15pm and filled up my cart with a few hundred dollars worth of goods as I normally do so it took me a while but as soon as I heard the announcement for closing at 12:02am I rushed to the front, as I approached the registers I've been poorly greeted by a man name Edwin Crespo, not wearing mask yelling to my face that's it's 12:04am and that I'm being rude as he wants to go home. I said that I was making my way to the register as soon as I heard the announcement and asked if he doesn't think he's a bit overreacting with his attitude as it's been only 4 minutes and then he got real mad and yelled at me to leave the store and that he won't check me out. Shocked, ashamed and humiliated, I left my cart and made my way towards my vehicle, nevertheless This guy Edwin or whatever his name is walking by towards his car that is parked next to mine and yelling at me again but this time cursing at me using the specific words "rude mother fucker" shocked and very upset I started my car and drove away read more

I've been to this location several times now and I'm not impressed. The cashiers aren't friendly- there have been maybe 2 that had some sort of a personality. It's an old/rundown store. I only go there IF their sale can beat Aldi, Meijer, or Caputo's. I've been to the one further down on 59 closer to Joliet and that store was a breath of fresh air. read more

Being honest, I have been to this Jewel several times and never had bad experience. My previous rating was higher but today was a bad experience and I would have let it go if it was not the Associate Store Director as root of the problem and has to be addressed. Very Rude Upper Management, bad experience with the Associate Store Director - Terry Pickering. Be careful when buying bakery products especially when they are on sale, tend to sell products with mold/fungus. Issue - I bought a french bread and some other groceries, after making the payment when I was purring the groceries in the trunk I noticed thaf there was some green color on the bread so pulled it out and saw that it was all over the entire bread. Suspecting that it was mold/fungus, I went back in to exchange. I went straight to the bakery enclosure and saw there was only 1 french bread remaining, there was a dark spot visible on the bread so I wanted to double check if this bread was good or just like the other one. Obviously I had to remove it from the cover to see. Upon seeing this, Terry came and said to me in a very rude tone that he cannot sell this to anyone else. I said that he shouldn't be selling it either because it has mold and fungus. Then I explained to him the situation as stated above and he asked me to show it. Upon showing it, he asked me to go to go the Customer Service and get a refund. Not sure how this guy is in the management when he doesn't have the basic customer skills to talk to a paying customer. Instead of de-escalation, he was ready to escalate the issue even further but I don't have time for this bs so I walked out after returning the bad bread. Be careful in what you buy. read more

I used to work in a grocery store. I know how ignorant employees can be, especially the elderly cashiers working part-time just so they can have their weekly scratch-off lotto ticket binge. More often than not, if you stop here in the morning, only the self-serve registers are open. And there's an overflow of cashiers just standing around, who don't even greet you. The most annoying thing about a grocery store is being ignored at the check-out lane. I'm not asking you to make out with me, just say hello. Two stars because it's always close parking, which means I generally only stop here on the way home if it's pouring rain and I don't want to trump through the Meijer lot across the street. Also because they still give you the preferred discount even if you don't have a card. So I still go in here, but I avoid picking up anything in the morning. read more

When visiting my parents, I find this Jewel actually relaxing, and I HATE grocery shopping. Wound up getting fried chicken there ... $7 is not bad for 8pcs and 2 16oz sides. Anyways, the dark meat was good, but the white was pretty dry. As a grocery store, I think it's pretty clean. People are always saying "hi", which is pretty nice. read more

This is my first review, so I will do my best to make it a good one. I've been coming to this location since it opened when I was but a child. The memories of grocery shopping with my family through the years here still haunt my thoughts as I now reminisce. That being said I've been able to now acquire new memories in my adult hood. I am going on 27 years young. Whenever I check out after picking up one or two items I waltz on over to the express lane. The frosting on the cake for me is when a cashier sees me ready to check out in the described lane it is almost treated as I am a hassle. Some times when I attempt to be polite and say something it goes ignored like a lonesome bird tweeting in the wind! In conclusion when I stop to shop (as the kids say) I feel like a guest staying longer than welcome. I give 2 stars for the inventory the store carries but the treatment makes me uncomfortable every time I have to check out. I mean what do they want me to do? Just walk out? WORSE grocery store ever. How Dominicks would go away is beyond me because the only thing good about this place is their sales on pop and chips. I would never come here if it wasn't for those items. Ever since removing self checkout it is like going to the dentist coming to Jewel. Prices are never scanned in right and when you tell the cashier it's wrong they NEVER believe you. And then when someone goes to check it, they BEGRUDGINGLY give you the correct sale price and never apologize. I swear they do it on purpose by not pricing items correctly so that you don't notice. And there is always a line to check out because they usually have two lanes running. If this store went away, I wouldn't notice. read more

No need to make the trek or bother paying Whole Foods Market prices due to some dietary restrictions. This Jewel is nothing special compared to other Jewels but has my grocery essentials. Jewel-Osco's recent renovations makes it a definite contender! The store is clean, employees are friendly, produce is fresh and has so many more food options: salad bar, bakery and ready made items as well as almost entire aisle of Gluten Free/"Natural" products. The pharmacy staff is excellent. Our family switched to this pharmacy (despite being further away) because of the excellent customer service. read more

I have been a Jewel shopper for- forever. This Jewel for the most part is decent with most of the front of the store employees being very helpful and customer oriented. The experience I had today with the drive up order pickup leaves a lot to be desired and with the way the "manager" of this area responded, I may never shop at Jewel again. I ordered all the items for a Thanksgiving dinner. When I got the notification, I drove over to pick it up only to find that there was no turnkey, no gravy, no stuffing items, no yams - and no fresh meat that I had ordered. Basically - Thanksgiving would consistent of a bag of potatoes and green bean casserole.... The order was placed 48 hours ahead which gave them adequate time to pull the order or verify what was out of stock. With the amount of key items missing from this order, a phone call would have been the right thing to do. I also got a dozen eggs that were all broken, so apparently the order pickers don't check anything. This service is a joke....no customer service provided at all. I called the manager and that was an even bigger mistake. She is totally incompetent and has absolutely no customer service skills. The point of ordering was to get my necessary groceries without going into a crowded grocery store as i have underlying health conditions. I ended up going to a crowded Meijer a half block down the road and they had EVERYTHING in stock. And, it was less than what I would have paid at Jewel. Apparently their managers know how to order ahead for the holiday to insure there is stock available. Do yourself a favor, never use this service at Jewel. It's a huge joke. If they had a process in place and a competent manager, it could work, but they clearly don't have any idea how to manage these type of orders. read more

Why bother to rate a grocery store? Well, I'm done with this Jewel-Osco. A typical scene here is 6pm on a Friday evening and there are only 2 cashiers on duty. I pick the self-service register which won't read my preferred card - and can't find me by phone number. I look ask for help, and because there is no paper in the receipt printer....I'm out of luck. Just the last straw in dealing with this Jewel for the past 6 years. Heck, the only reason I still come here is for the salsa, LaBrea bread and the GOGO Free deals you get with a preferred card. Enough! Meyer, Caputos, Walmart Grocery.......they all have BETTER PRICES and BETTER SERVICE. read more

Jewel has pretty decent produce, and it is usually fresh. Their meat, however, leaves something to be desired. Whenever we have made the mistake to buy meat at Jewel, it smells like a combination of socks worn for a marathon and something that has been festering in the back of your fridge for a month. We have returned meat there more than once. But, we are very busy, and don't always have the time to do so. Perhaps they are counting on this fact, and in turn they reap the monetary reward. I agree about the checkouts, as well. They usually only have one cashier available regardless of how many customers are in the store. We will probably go back, for convenience sake, but NOT to purchase meat. It is simply, well..... nasty. read more

I love shopping here. The staff always makes me feel welcomed! Great, fresh food. Just bought some hand - dipped chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's day which were quite delicious! Every time I buy something here it is always fresh. I just wish the one in Joliet was like this one. I will always go out of my to shop at this location because of the freshness of their produce, chicken, and the friendliness of the employees. Utterly incompetent. Do not use any Osco. I have never had more of a run around in my life and been lied to. Their staff clearly isn't trained. Example: I called in the morning to check on the status of a pending prescription. Their response, this will be ready in the early afternoon. I sent my husband to get the medication. They then advise him they will not dispense the medication because of a state law. I'm a post operative patient waiting on this medication. Their incompetence resulted in me going to the hospital. Example 2: I called and requested an additional medication to be filled, one that I cannot live without. They tell me it's backordered and I will not have it for 4 days. I called my doctor immediately for help or other medication. The dr calls them back and the medication is now ready in 3 hours. Are you kidding me??? So the call from the patient results in days off suffering. The call from the dr and things are fixed? I have more examples, but will stop here. Don't waste your time or put your health at risk. There's better pharmacy's out there! read more
