I'm surprised to read about some customers finding moldy and expired foods. I've never had that experience. The reason I'm not giving a better rating is that just about every time I shop there, they are out-of-stock of many...sometimes half...of the items on my shopping list, especially if it's a sale item. Ive only been here twice and each time theres alway's a fight going on. For some reason the employees are alway's fighting. I get they hate their job but at least don't act ignorant around your costumers. They forget they're dealing with random people who will forever remember them as crazy. Ever since Covid, I feel customer service everywhere is falling short of what it should be. Jewel continues to have blockades of people stacking or chatting, making it difficult to make choices. I've often seen cold foods sitting in aisles with no refrigerator. The deli service is horrendous. Many people working chatting not acknowledging customers waiting. I've asked the manager he said that because people pre-order online and pay more that they get first dibs on the workers that are in the deli and that the deli workers on cheap chicken Monday are told that chicken customers come first I can tell you this I buy more than what the cost of chicken is in lunch meat, cheese, and salads. I also spend more than the people who are ordering online and having someone deliver it to their car because I'm actually in the store seeing product and purchasing more than what is on my list. These young employees who no doubt are on a time schedule, pushing these carts for private shopping leave the cart in the middle. I have to wait for them. I've gotten hit by these carts. And the deals that you have to have and sign up on your phone for have people stopping scanning, trying to figure out the app and then you get up to the register and you do not get the deals then you have to go over to the service desk it is just poorly run with no respect to the consumer that takes their time to go into the store. read more

If you don't like your job, quit or find something you actually want to do! Last night, I went to Jewel-Osco since it was the nearest store to buy eggs and milk. While checking out, an employee was bagging my groceries and placing them in my cart. However, he seemed annoyed with his job, which I understand--everyone has bad days. But at the very least, respect people's groceries! He literally threw my eggs into the cart. I immediately said, "Excuse me, you should check the eggs you just threw in there because I'm not taking home expensive, broken eggs!" This used to be my favorite Jewel store but it has really gone downhill. Last time there was disgusting. Horrible fish smell from the unclean butcher case. Dirt and trash on the floor, and unrelated, but needing an app to get the sale prices - I don't think so. read more

I'm ready to give up on this location. In the last few months I've had to return several items from the diary section such as cheese, milk and greens that were spoiled well before the expiration date! Recently, I was in the checkout when the cashier noticed that mold was growing on one side of (packaged) pork chops as she scanned them! I cannot express how much of health hazard this is to the consumer, especially for people like myself who have severe allergic reactions to active mold. Who and where is quality control?!? On a positive note, I've never had a problem when I've returned to the store, with the receipt and these spoiled products for a refund/replacement, it's just the inconvenience, and the hassle that I have to literally inspect everything from produce, diary, bread and meat. read more

Shopped here a while ago. Located conveniently off of Route 59. Being very unbiased based on the current situation affecting the world. There was a fair amount of people inside, plenty of parking. There are also too many shopping carts roaming the parking lot. Store was clean, organized and fairly stocked. They do lack variety of milk brands, they focus hard more on their "signiture" / "Jewel-Osco" brand stuff. Deals were fair. Check out lines aren't bad either friendly employees, not much of an organic section either. Lines are pretty reasonable to wait in. Average place to check out. read more

Went to Jewel specifically to order flowers. They had a nice assortment, however no one in the dept so I headed to customer service and waited. When tan employee finally noticed me I asked for help in floral. She stated there should be someone working in that department and called over the intercom for assistance. After waiting in the floral department for a while I walked back to customer service to find no one there. I asked an employee that was walking by and she said she couldn't help me. So I waited longer and finally walked out. This took 45 minutes. I drove down to Marianos and ordered my arrangement and was out the door in less than 10 minutes. I'm done with Jewel. read more

I am constantly receiving expired products from the Jewel in Shorewood, Il. The most disgusting delivery was the repackaging of all my meat purchases, Each meat product had numerous labels/prices and obvious repackaging of the meat. The frozen items arrive thawed. I also order from Meijer, which is quite a distance from me and the frozen items from Meijer arrive frozen, I have never received truly frozen products from the Jewel in Shorewood which is less than 10 minutes from me.. The produce is never fresh and looks like the products should have seen the inside of a garbage can and not delivered to a customer. I have received expired ( expired a month prior to their delivery). No one pays attention to expiration dates(it might be because the store employees do not know what an expiration date is), Stock is not pulled or rotated. Damaged goods are delivered damaged, instead of being placed in a bruised and reduced section, where in-store customers have the option of buying the items. Instead the damaged goods are delivered to an on-line customer, who in turn calls the store to complain and a refund is issued... Money lost all the way around. Very poorly run store. read more

They have mint chocolate chip single serve cheesecake slices here in the bakery section for $1.99 and an Auntie Annie's Pretzels truck in the parking lot! Cheep Chicken Monday's = 8 pieces of roasted or fried chicken for $6-7. Their chicken is so delicious! This is also the place I hit up when I want hot wings and potato wedges from the deli section. Clean store, good selection, can't beat deals in the meat section and I always can count on their produce section. read more

I'm SO confused by the reviews that say the employees are nice at this store. I'd liken their personalities to people who are at a funeral. I generally come here after working overnights to pick up a few things on the way home. First, please do NOT purchase more than a basketful of items cause you will get the worst treatment. I stroll up in the line and say "Good Morning!" and she literally doesn't open her mouth to say a word back. She scans my items without looking at me, tells me the total, and hands me the receipt without saying a word. Come on! As a general rule make sure you always check expiration dates on anything you purchase here. I've been burned here several times on items that are way expired. I guess when the employees act like you're putting them out at every step of the way you really shouldn't expect too much. Tip: drive a mile more down the street to Mariano's. Ordered delivery from Jewel. Delivery scheduled between 6-10 last night. Driver calls at 8:25 pm. He is here. Ummm no he's not. 2 calls back and forth later and it turns out he is at ShorTwood Drive in Joliet. He is 27 minutes away according to my map. He says he has other deliveries. And is now annoyed with ME. He says he will figure it out. I stayed up until midnight. No groceries and no answer on his phone. Customer service is closed. I call first thing this morning. I wait 45 minutes to get a person. They say they will have a supervisor call me back within 30 minutes to an hour. And they themselves (Anisha) will call back in an hour to make sure I am all set. 2 1/2 hours later and I have not heard from anyone. I call them back. I a currently still on hold to speak to a human. It has been 1 hour and 2 minutes and 13 seconds so far. #JEWELOSCOsucks Update: They will refund me and have someone call me. 1 hour 34 minutes and 25 seconds for that call. Total time (approximately) wasted from deciding to order from JEWEL to now: 13 hours. (includes waiting times of 8 1/2 hours for calls or drivers). RIDICULOUS. read more

My review is specifically for the Starbucks in this Jewel location. It apparently doesn't have a Yelp page of its own, and considering the staff at the Starbucks counter work for Jewel, you get to own this review. I had ordered a venti chai latte around 10am today. The cashier who assisted me was totally on auto-pilot, because the barista who prepared the drink made me a caramel macchiato. After waiting a while, the barista realized that the drink order was incorrect, and fixed a chai for me. After I left the store, I tasted the drink, which had no flavor whatsoever. It was milk with ice. I took the drink back, and let the barista know. She informed me that they were out of the regular chai flavoring, and only had the light chai. I have gotten stuck with the light chai at another store, and would never have continued with this order. For $5.00, the drink should have SOME flavor to it. But the cashier failed to inform me that they were out of chai when I initially placed my order. The barista did everything she could to make the situation right. She deserves an A+. As I was leaving, I realized that the cashier who got my order wrong had gone on break. She was seated at a table, passed out, face down. Her facial expression and her demeanor demonstrate clearly that she doesn't want to be there. She deserves an F-. I will walk away from the counter in the future if she is on duty. read more

This is my go to grocery store due to the fact that it's super close to my house. Despite the fact that it's clean and most of the staff is friendly I hate it. I especially hate the Starbucks! Yes they make cold drinks with obviously rotten limes(see photo) just wished I had noticed before I drank 1/4 of it. Please note this review is for their floral department only. Weeks in advance, I ordered flowers for use in my bridesmaids' bouquets, and ordered already-made corsages and boutonnieres for our parents and grandparents. The night before the wedding, I sent my brother to pick them up. Half the order was missing, and what we did receive was incorrect in terms of color and arrangement - we received no wrist corsages like we ordered for the women, only pin-on boutonnieres. Oh, and some of the roses for bouquets were stem only.. i.e, no bud. When we called to complain, we were told that the other half of the order was there, just not where anyone could find it on our first trip. A second trip needed to be made to get the rest of our flowers. A totally ridiculous experience - I would never order flowers from here again, especially for something as important as a wedding! read more

I go to this Jewel sometimes simply for the convenience/proximity to home and sometimes their sales. But every.single.time I end up at the customer service desk because something didn't ring up correctly or was in the wrong place. I often find moldy produce at this store as well sitting on the shelf. Today I purchased an item that was well stocked in front of a price tag reading $7.99 and when it rang up at $15.99, back to customer service I went. The customer service lady came back telling me flat out I was wrong and the incorrect product was stocked there. I told her there's clearly an abundance of the product I picked up there sitting in front of the $7.99 sales tag and she said "I know. Do you still want it or not?" So.....you admit the store is at fault and you're still going to charge me the incorrect price? What happened to the customer is always right? I've worked in retail for a number of years & if that happens, you give the one customer the sales price and then you go remove the tag/fix the issue. I absolutely hate shopping here and if it weren't for their deals on meat/seafood at times, I'd never be back. read more

Went to the deli to get some lunch meat. Between the time they called my number and when I got all of two meats half pound each it took 20 minutes, the lady also took the turkey we wanted and set it one a table that my wife and I could clearly see had blood on it. Lady then got distracted cleaning up After the other guy working the counter. After we finally got the lunch meat my wife took one look at the ripped bag and ditched it. This is the nicest Jewel in my area. The produce is even better than the one closet to my home. Go figure. The place is always clean even the restroom. You know how scary public restrooms can be. If I could give 0 stars I would. Never have I been to a grocery store that had such an embarrassing amount of stock. No tomatoes, no cucumbers, no grapefruit, no jalapeño, and a bunch of other items as well. There should never be any excuse for lack of stock and quality of produce. Store is very large and sometimes confusing. Bakery is great, very accommodating and I often stop for a fresh coffee cake on Sunday morning. The area that most definitely needs improvement is the deli. I understand waiting but the employees here are incredibly slow. I was 2 numbers away from being helped and it still took 10 minutes. I was never asked how thick I wanted my ham sliced (it ended up being almost shredded). The employee who sliced my ham was too busy conversing with another very slow employee. I won't use this deli again as Mariano's is soo much more attentive. read more

Wife bought the jewel osco store brand cheddar Sausage after cooking and cutting it up for our 3 year old we started seeing pieces of white plastic in the meat so we cut a couple more of the sausages open to more and even bigger pieces of plastic blended into the meat not happy but the store did offer a full refund and replaced the sausage with a name brand pack im grossed out by this. read more
