I am familiar with places like this, expect to have the techs try to sell me services I don't need. That isn't such a big deal. This Jiffy Lube was close & convenient, so I thought I would give them a try. And I remembered why I don't go to Jiffy Lube. The oil change was $41. They charged me $20 for a light bulb replacement (listed on the board as $12). And the kicker- a solicitor walked in off the street & started harassing me to buy his product. I had to tell him "no" what felt like 20 times before he gave up & left. When I mentioned this to the tech checking me out, he said, "Um, yeah, sorry about that. He asked if he could, and we told him yes." Really? I work on East Riverside, and the rest of us have a pretty stringent no solicitation policy. I called the next day to inform the manager I would not be going back and why, and he said he just started 2 days ago, and didn't know anything about it. I don't know if I believe him, but from now on I'll drive further to get my oil changed. The Groovy on North Lamar suggests services, yes, but I have never been approached by a solicitor there. read more

Went by this jiffy lube with an almost flat tire today. Though they don't have tire service at this location, Adam and Greg put my spare on for me for free! They were super nice and I will go back for oil changes and any other service they offer that I might need. Highly recommend! read more

The guy at the counter had great service but that's about the only thing they had going for them. Check your car before you leave because they did not do the services they said they were going to. Such as vacuum and tire pressure. (Left with a low tire, don't believe I arrived with one. My car notifies me if I do.) Honestly I think the only thing they did vacuum was the change from my center console... Also was up sold on the quality of oil. I don't believe I needed anything more then the synthetic oil but ended up with high performance... Originally supposed to be around $60 and spent $130... I'm not one to just post negative reviews, but felt it was necessary for this experience. read more

Seems like my experience aligns with a number of other Yelpers here. Most expensive and inadequately performed oil change I have ever had. Not once have i ever experienced an oil change performed so poorly. So, I leave the Jiffy Lube paying for the most expensive oil change of my life to drive it a few days later and have my car's engine & oil lights screaming to "turn engine off immediately". Luckily, this occured only a few blocks from the Jiffy Lube so I was able to bring it back in. Turns out my car had lost 4q of oil and was experiencing low oil pressure. Jiffy Lube told me it was not their fault because my drain plug had gone bad, been stripped excuses etc... They fixed it for free which is the least they could do, but would not do anything further even for jeopardizing my engine's health. After leaving, I took my car to a mechanic to get the engine checked out. He examined the engine and the reason it leaked is because they never removed the old copper washer between the plug and drain and added a 2nd so it was never sealed. Which would mean the car was actively leaking as I pulled out of Jiffy Lube from the original oil change. He also pointed out how sloppy the workers were by laying the oil drip stick in side the hood leaving behind oil stains. Is it just this location's worker negligence of performing a routine task or is this a common theme across all Jiffy Lubes? first I was failed for moisture in my tail light. I dried it out and then went back and was failed for a pin line no gap no light emiting 1cm crack in same tail light. not only are both of these things not in the state inspection law obviously the power of being able to give inspections has gone to their head. posting state inspection law in hopes one of the trainer's will read.....For clear taillight lenses to be legal, they must consist of the following components: Stop Lamp All motor vehicles are required to have functioning stop lamp(s), as applicable to the number of stop lamp(s) equipped on the vehicle at the time the vehicle was originally manufactured.A stop lamp must emit a red or amber light, or any shade of color between red and amber.A stop lamp must be visible from a distance of not less than 300 feet to the rear in normal sunlight.The stop lamp shall be actuated upon application of the service (foot) brake and may be incorporated with one or more other rear lamps.Stop lamp lens must be of a type meeting Department of Public Safety standards. Rudest group of people I've come across at any jiffy lube location. They are lazy, slow, and tactless. I have been getting my oil changed here for a while, but went in for an inspection today to find out that they won't pass me because my tinting is a small percent past the "minimum". I was not rude about it at all, but did mention it was interesting, as I have passed inspection with flying colors for the past two years at different jiffy lube locations. When I learned I still had to pay for the inspection itself for nothing, the whole group laughed at me and said "have a splendid day ma'am" in the most sarcastic way possible. They were all sitting on their butts the whole time. Needless to say I'll never be back there. Should have guess since it's east riverside. read more

I bought one of those $25 groupings for an oil change. I stopped by to see if I needed an appointment and was kindly greeted by Bobby. He said they could do the oil change right then,and kindly directed me towards the air conditioned waiting room. The technician then called me over and thoroughly went over what my car needed and the different options there were. The best part is at no time did I feel pressured to upgrade. In only took about 30 minutes and they even filled my tires and vacuumed my front seat and floor! Great service and experience! Thanks guys:) read more

I just needed a state vehicle inspection. Three times I tried over the last week. They advertise that they do them but they can't. Excuse after excuse.. The inspector went on lunch break, back in 1-2 hours. The inspector was a no call no show today. The inspector is having back surgery. I wish I could rate this place negative stars, this is possibly the worst place in the country to get your car inspected, they failed me for an emergency break that I used to park my car in their port with and a "faulty door handle" which has nothing to do with the safety of the vehicle on the road. At least they could have tried to be legit crooks by telling me something was wrong with the car that they could fix but apparently they just wanted to take my inspection money to spend on more incompetence pills they must take every morning. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! I don't care what the manager's special is or how much off they're offering, it's not worth the awful cliche shady mechanic behavior they practice. Went in for an inspection, got a five minute lecture on an oil change I didn't even need. I hate this place and feel good that they make their employees do that humiliating wave at people passing by, now I see why they deserve it and I hope they make them start wearing costumes. read more

My battery wouldn't start this morning. I didn't know anyone else in the city, so we called Adam at this jiffy lube. He sent one of his guys to my apartment to help jump my car. Not only was the guy incredibly nice and efficient, he also made sure I knew what to do next, where to go next, etc. Incredibly cordial workers - both me and my family are insanely impressed by them. Service was really great! I went in for an oil change and was helped right away, was there ten minutes at most. The gentlemen who greeted me also made it appoint to educate me on my car and its maintenance. I am not very familiar with cars or the maintenance they require so I always feel like I am going to be taken advantage of when I do have to do things like a brake check or an oil change, but this was not at all the case. However, I would have liked for them to walk me through the work that had been done, and I am not entirely sure if they put air in my tires because my light was still on. Aside from that I will definitely go back, it is very hard to find people with good customer service skills. read more

Hello, I just like to say this location always has great customer service. I have seen staff change through the years, but no matter what, the crew has always met up to my expectations. I live South Austin, Manchaca and Slaughter area; in which there is a Jiffy Lube near there, but I found that the customer service here at the Riverside and Oltorf location exceeds always. A year after my first horrible visit, I call to see if they do inspections on Saturday. Yes, they do. I show up to get an inspection and their inspection person didn't show up. Literally, same issue 1 year later. I come over to the one on oltorf and 35, their inspection machine is down. The guy tried to refer me to another jiffy lube who might be able to do inspections. Went there this morning to have an oil change. I had a Groupon that the promotional value was expired but the paid value ($28) never expires, clearly stated on the Groupon I had printed out. But the manager told the employee helping me that the $28 was "online credit" and not money paid to Jiffy Lube itself. Manager never came out to talk to me, had the employee do it. The whole point of me going there was to be able to use the Groupon's paid value since I couldn't use the promotional value. I called the Jiffy Lube main office (1-800-344-6933) and was told all Jiffy Lube's are independtly owned, that it was up to the manager on what to do. So I asked for the # for the owners of the Austin Jiffy Lubes. I was given 1-714-458-4558. Guess what? A recording came on saying that the mailbox had not been set up. How conveinient. I went ahead and had it done since the care was in dire need of it and I didn't have to time to drive to another location. Oil change itself was fine, not too long. Guy that helped did fine. But they don't understand the Groupon policies and I will not be going to this location anymore. read more

Super quick service, but missed some key details. When I got my oil changed and tires rotated, I expected at least an hour wait. Boom! It was done in 40 mins. However a few hours later as I was driving my car, I noticed the temperature gauge higher than usual. I was in the middle of traffic and had to pull over. I opened my hood, and to my surprise, there was green coolant leaking everywhere over the engine! I nearly panicked and called the shop to see what to do. They said "If we were closer to you we would come help". I told them I noticed that the hose carrying the coolant was loose and bubbling out the coolant. They said "This has happened before...they must have not tightened it enough". I told them I was disappointed and I couldn't believe this happened. They told me to drive it back to them and I told them that I was too far and didn't want to risk my engine burning. I was a little perturbed at their lack of concern and lack of responsibility for their error. I went to a different Jiffy Lube that was closer (N Lamar/Guadalupe) and had a much better experience. read more
