They were not fast at all. I waited super long to get my oil change. I got here before another car and they still did not take me in first.

Came in at 9am on a Tuesday for an oil change and inspection - the man told me their inspection guy wouldn't be in until 10, but around 9:20 he let me know he showed up early! I was out by 9:55. My advice is to simply be firm about what you need. Upselling is annoying, but I always stick to my conventional oil change and would get anything else they mentioned checked out by someone else I trust more (for me, my local mechanic back in Dallas). It's not like they can actually force you to get extra services done, so I don't understand the anger in some of these reviews! I've had a pleasant experience the two times I've been here. I hate doing just about anything car-maintenance related because a simple oil change always turns into 3 hours later....ma'am we have some bad news. I prefer going to the dealership but unless I have a few hours to spare I have to settle for the closest Jiffy Lube. I've used this location 4 or 5 times out of convenience but my last visit was enough to swear me off. They have always been fast, I'll give them that much. Sometimes it's almost too fast though and I wonder if they're really doing everything they say they are. If you have to go here ALWAYS get a coupon from their website Gripe #1) They make you stand outside to give them all of your information and go over what you need. No, I'm not being a priss, but when I happen to be wearing a skirt and I can see them staring up my skirt from the pit I find it less than amusing. One guy went so far as to call me over to look at something under the hood and then go "oh never mind" and chuckle to himself. I have never been to this location without experiencing some degree of perviness or unwanted attention. Gripe #2) They are clearly trained to upsell. I am not a clueless female when it comes to car maintenance and I'm sure as hell not going to have anything extra other than an air filter replaced at jiffy lube. Just be prepared to say no. A lot. Do yourself a favor and if you need any real work done, do NOT go here. The final straw for me was after the "peeping" incident which was then followed by me getting in my car to find a post it note with "Justin's" number. I don't know if I looked to poor to buy any extra or what, but I had no problem with them trying to upsell me. They showed me two more expensive options and suggested I get my tires rotated but I said no to that and my car was finished in about 10 minutes. As a bonus, I loved that they clean up the inside fo the car since I haven't done that since, well, never. My car is also a 2006 so I wonder if they push more crap on people with older cars. read more

J-I-F-F-Y L-U-B-E A few months ago, I was going on a road trip and stopped for an oil change at Jiffy Lube, where the technician convinced me that I also needed to change my air filter. Normally, I'm not an up-sizer, but he showed it to me and, yeah, it was dirty. Then came a 45-minute wait, which is anything but a jiffy. A couple of weeks later, my dad was checking something else under the hood and asked why I hadn't changed the air filter. Sure enough, it was filthy and had not, in fact, been changed. The service was shoddy and, honestly, fraudulent. It's not worth the money and possible damage to your car if they don't perform the services they're (over)charging you for. read more

I really wanted to write a review about my last mis-adventure with Jiffy Lube on the location on Lamar but I haven't found it on Yelp yet. So I'll just write about my biggest misadventure at the location near Hyde Park... I took my car to get an oil change. In my younger, dumber days when I also had more money, I let them talk me in to doing the fuel injector clean out. I sometimes sprang for this stuff because I don't really take care of cars too well so I figure if it added some life to my car why not? Anyways, after a really long wait (what's so jiffy about jiffy lube) I ask someone where my car is and if it's done. They say oh yeah we finished that a while ago I think it's out back. It's parked behind the garage in a weird way and I walk over and see a bottle of fuel cleaner sitting in the place where you put gas. So this is what you get when you pay $45 for that fuel injector cleaning. Nice. That's not even the half of it. I took the bottle out and looked for the gas cap and it was nowhere to be found. They couldn't find it either. I said what are you going to do about that. They said well, go to the auto parts store and get another one, bring it back, and we'll reimburse you for it. I thought about it a while and decided I had to. If I could have figured a way to make them go get it I would but there wasn't a way I could think of. Obviously I was pretty pissed. This is also the same jiffy lube that pulled some fuses on my volvo that caused a fuel pump to stop working. It was a pump that pulls gas from the tank to the front so my car was constantly coughing and chugging along whenever it didn't have a full tank. It took several mechanics to finally figure out what was wrong with it. Also no one could figure out why they would pull my fuses out - and not put them back! I have been a customer at this place for over 5 years, and have always experienced excellent manners on behalf of staff. Though I am a foxy lady, I have gratefully never experienced sexual harassment or stupid-a** behavior there. This is probably due to the fact that I follow basic woman warrior tactics: my work clothes are modest and understated, I don't flirt (even though handsome workin' men are hot), and I usually have my nose in a good book. The oil change and systems check is a godsend. My previous old BMW had a transmission leak for about a year, and during that time I came in for the free top-ups which saw me through until I could manage the expensive repair at my specialist mechanic. I have also noticed a female employee or two around there over the years, which is always inspiring in the automotive industry. Most of all, the staff at Jiffy Lube franchises endure the long months of brutal Texas heat and winter cold in their outdoor working stations, for which I honor them. It is no small potatoes to work in that environment abide by professional conduct towards all who pass through. read more

I actually enjoy coming here to get my oil changed. They just have fabulous customer service, the kind that's usually reserved for buying a bespoke suit or going to a spa. I'm greeted promptly, they hold the door for me, they're not pushy about upgrades, they walk me to my car afterwards, and it's fast and cheap. The last time I came in the manager and four employees went way above and beyond, removing the bumper on my poor, banged up VW van so they could reach behind the license plate to change the oil. I'm not the kind of girl that needs you to throw your jacket over the puddle, but I appreciate when it happens. read more

My oil was leaking and I needed to get the oil drain plug replaced. I brought my car in on Saturday, and the guy that I talked to was really nice and they fixed the problem quickly and at no charge. Great. However, when I left Jiffy Lube my car smelled like gas. I rolled down the window to air it out, thinking it would go away. Then eventually the engine started making a low hum noise when I stepped on the accelerator, so I stopped and looked under the hood and there was smoke coming off the engine and oil everywhere. I looked down and saw the oil filler cap sitting off to the side. They never put it back on! It made a huge mess. I've been trying to call Jiffy Lube to let them know what happened but it just rings and rings. I called multiple times on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and no answer. I know I have the right number because I checked the website. This is unacceptable. This was my first time at Jiffy Lube and I will not be going back. I don't normally leave bad reviews but not replacing the oil cap is a huge mistake and I can't get ahold of this place and it is very frustrating. read more

I am a woman. Therefore, while living in the South I have become accustomed to the hard sell and being given scare tactics when it comes to my vehicle. However, I was extremely pleased with the excellent service I received here, and even more pleased that they didn't try to sell me anything I obviously didn't need. Maybe it's because the hubs was with me and he ain't no jive turkey. But I digress. Hubs walked in and asked for a price estimate on an inspection. He deemed it a fair price so we handed the car over to a friendly attendant and he held the door for me, offered us drinks and gave us a time estimate for the inspection. They completed the job in less than the time estimated and were extremely friendly about it. I started to think they were all on drugs because of how cheerful they acted. I suppose it is a recession though. What took the cake was that the dude who walked us out to the car after we paid opened my door for me! Maybe I'll bring my car back for an oil change and more of that Southern hospitality. read more

Worst oil change experience ever. Drained my oil and poured it back into my truck. I could believe it. I had no time to deal with the delinquents at the time. Checked my oil and it was as black as it was when I checked it right before the service. Changed it a week later at Sears with great service and paid less. Ok, to be fair I did get an oil change in a fairly short amount of time. But that's about it. First, unless you go early, you pay more for a basic oil change than you would at most other places. Second, they will try to upsell you on just about everything. They pretty much made it sound like my car was about to explode at any second if I didn't get extra stuff. It was kind of ridiculous really. The girl pretty much went through the check list and tried to get me to buy everything. Ugh. Fortunately I said no and my car is still ok. I've been getting oil changed here regularly now. Stopped going to Groovy Lube even though they were local due to less than friendly service, inefficiency, and the obnoxiously hard sell there. They told me I would void my warranty if I used conventional oil. Uh, ok. Although they are a chain I found this Jiffy Lube has really friendly people and they work efficiently. ALL these places have to do some up selling to make a buck but I found their pitch to strike the right tone and they did not push if I said no thank you. read more

Beyond frustrated, I attempted 3 separate times to go for a State Inspection, the first two times was turned away, at least politely. However, this last time I parked my car, walked up to an employee who proceeded to ignore me while I was clearly waiting to talk to him. Eventually, I politely said "excuse me" and he just stared at me as if I was very rudely interrupting what I'm 90% sure was a personal conversation. I asked about getting a state inspection and he said "we aren't doing them right now, we're too busy... I mean, unless you want to wait 2 hours" and then turned back around and continued talking to the other person. So I left, and went somewhere local and they were fantastic - in and out in 10 minutes. Such a different experience. From the other reviews I've read it sounds like others would agree, that the Customer Service here needs a big improvement. read more

The first time I went for an oil change it was a younger guy who kinda just treated me like an idiot like I had no clue about my car or what I needed which was just irritating because I was well aware, but the job was done quickly nonetheless. The second time I went was a vastly better experience, again everything was done quickly even though they operate on a walk-in basis getting in and out is a breeze and they even checked and topped off my fluids. Overall I'd recommend this location. Sure, I could do without belittlement, but when it comes to my car I'll take competence over a friendly goof any day. read more

Can't say enough good things about this location. Got an oil change yesterday--pulled in at 6:15, thinking they might be closed or closing soon. Nope--and no waiting. I was out of there in 15 minutes, and they didn't go for the add-on oversell that so many oil change places try to do. They even had Amazing Spider-Man 2 on (the new one!). Plus they store your oil preferences, so you just say "same as last time" and that's all you need to do. They let me know I had a tire rotation and transmission work due next time, and sent me on my way. Awesome. read more

THEY DONT ANSWER THE PHONE EVER! I have called SEVERAL times in the last week or two.... let the phone ring for up to 5 minutes at a time during business hours. Why Im calling is to try and figure out when I need my next change, due to the technician that never putting the sticker on the windshield with the stats. Pretty easy 2 min phone call, if that... but NOBODY answers the phone at all so Im giving them one star due to the lack of professionalism with communication. I dont live in the area so I cant stop by and get the attention of a manager. read more

Nothing but a bunch of idiots out here that will rip you off. Got my "oil change" here just last month. Charged me $95 . Now a month later my car is giving me oil change signal. The oil change said it would take roughly 15 minutes to finish but it took twice as long. The employee who interacted with us to change our oil was very rude. There was a lot of random yelling. The price is way over priced for service. There was only 2 cars already there(they have 3 spots to have cars worked on) but we still had to wait for almost an hour to even get to changing our oil even though there was a open spot. The other 2 cars were also getting their oils changed at the time, and they were both being worked on the same time; so the change should have finished in like 30 minutes tops but it took them 1 hour(when I got there, which means they took even longer) to change those cars oils. I would not recommend this place for anyone as they're rude, over priced and not even worth your time. read more

A great place for the basics. Took my car in for an oil change and an inspection. It was a Sunday at 10am and they said it would be about 40 minutes. There is a Starbucks caddy corner so I just told them I would go sit there and come back in an hour. Everything was all ready when I came back and they checked me out quickly and courteously. Doesn't hurt that they give a 20% discount to UT students either :) I will definitely be going back for any future car needs! read more
