If anything, my most recent experience was even worse. The shop seemed disorganized and dirty. The coffee service had been remove in the waiting room. When I asked to have my spare tire topped off, I was told that corporate policy prevented it. What would have taken 60 seconds to perform ended up taking the time of three employees trying to explain to me that it was not their fault; it was Corporate's. (So much for safety concerns on the part of Corporate. ) When I paid my bill, I was told that oil changes were recommended every 4,000 miles for the synthetic blend that I had bought. The wait time is really good. I see cars get taken care of really quick. I notice when there is a wait, it usually doesn't last too long. The last time I came in, the employees were really nice and friendly! They gave me some pointers as well as a really good price. They were very considerate! I plan on going again with my other car! I've been a Jiffy Lube customer since about 1996 from the Bay to the Central Valley. I'm a regular to this Castro Valley Jiffy Lube location not only because it's conveniently in my neighborhood, but mostly because of service. The company itself seems to have stopped w/ the "$5 or $7 off mailer coupon" & no follow up calls after a visit, but the staff @ this location are always polite, friendly, & "teacher-friendly" (if u will). SERVICE: They recently extended their weekday hours...now open 'till 7pm (hoping to get more customers in I pressume). I went in yesterday for my oil change & engine fluids flush..got in about 5:40pm & out by 6:30pm; maybe 1 other car before me & 2 more cars pulled in also (likely just off work like me). The two young gentleman servicing on the cars were thorough, informative, friendly, & helpful. Young lady behind the counter was friendly as well. Keep up the good work =) read more

It's supposed to be called jiffy lube because it's quick, and that's why they can charge a premium. It took over an hour to get my oil changed so was definitely not worth the extra money that they charge compared to other places. Customer service is horrible nobody even greeted me when I got there and finally after 10 minutes I got out my car to ask how long the wait time would be and got a rude and short response. Called literally five minutes before I showed up and they were able to take me right away. The gentleman that worked with me in terms of pricing was nice and straight to the point. They will recommend additional things to service your car, but nothing crazy and you can always say no. The manager is keeping everyone on track and checked in on the employees frequently. Please don't risk having this Jiffy Lube damage your vehicle. I had been going here for the past couple years. My two past oil changes my oil light came on in between oil changes...indicating that I was low or no oil in my vehicle. My first thought, I possibly have an oil leak due to wear and tear on my vehicle. After the second time this happened I took my vehicle to Quality Auto, (across from the movie theater). My other thought was that Jiffy didn't put the washer back on after changing the oil. Low and behold, Jiffy did not put the washer on the last two times I went there. In fact, what this tells me, is they did it twice and never admitted to their mistakes. The bolt is now stripped and Quality Auto has helped me fix the problem. Thankfully it looks as though I won't need to special order a whole new oil pan. This had happened yo me at O'riley auto and I had to order a new oil pan for another vehicle, years ago. Don't risk them damaging your vehicle and putting your family at risk of something worse. I am medical professional, imagine if I do shotty work....it's just unacceptable. The people here are rude and more. I came for an oil change. They opened my glove port to take out the air filter to show to me. I said I'll replace it myself. When I got inside my car, my CDs, sunglasses, and other items inside the glove port were all over the floor. It looked like they just carelessly threw things all over the place. Now, this is my first time here. I didn't do anything to offend them, only to turn down their recommended air filter replacement. I guess they got mad because they were not able to make extra money from me. I also overheard a lady in the lobby saying that the guys were trying to get her to replace her windshield wipers. She has a BMW. They were going to charge her $100+ for the replacement. I was like, "whhhaaaa!!?" I don't think this place deserves my money, or your money. The Service was awfully quick for the list of things they describe they've done. After completion of service and getting in my car to drive away I was concerned to see that the floor was not vacuumed despite it being listed as COMPLETE on my invoice. The service has gone down since the beginning of pandemic. Before the pandemic, the staff checked tire pressure, topped off fluids, and wiped windows and windshield clean. For the last 2 times, I came in they didn't do that anymore. They didn't check the tire pressures. They didn't wipe windows & windshields. One time I mentioned about the tire pressure, the man working as cashier told me" they probably forgot. Let me tell them to do it for you." Six months later I came back, the technician didn't check my tire pressure, so I didn't bother to ask anymore because I think it is their little dirty tricks. They will say sorry if anyone ask but will never want to do it at the first place. Forget about the wiping windows for your cars. Jiffy Lube website still promises to deliver all these extra services. However, I believe it is the manager of this store who doesn't want to honor the services set by the Jiffy Lube headquarter. They tried to cheat me. I came in wanting a standard oil change. They then said I should most likely get the wiper blade, lamp, and radiant coolant replaced. I agree since it's about time. What made me realize that they cheated me is the wiper blade. I had mighty wiper blades. I bought the rainx latitude wiper blade. When I confronted them, they treated me like I don't know what's up. They just said I'm sorry I didn't vacuum, which they also didn't do. After a quick "vacuuming", the wiper blades changed from mighty to rainx. This is the second time in recent months I've pulled into this jiffy lube for an oil change attempt. Last time I was told it would be over an hour because they were busy and there was one vehicle in one bay with two empty and I wasn't going to wait an hour with two empty bays and no cars waiting. Today, no cars in any bay. 4 employees standing around two smoking in the parking lot. No cars waiting. I'm told they can't do any cars because they're having computer problems. Okay so I am not really sure how I feel about this place. I needed my oil changed. I can get a free oil change at my dealership but I don't have 3 hours to kill and it's fairly out of my way. So I came here. The staff was super friendly and were quick to take my car in. The waiting room is big and as I sat there, it filled up quickly. I was told my air filter was dirty so I had them replace that. They told me they were going to top off my tires but I know that never happened because my air pressure is exactly the same as it was when I went in (my car has a tire monitor). I was a little disappointed about that. Also my car seems to run just fine but I feel like since they didn't check my tire pressure, I may need to double check and make sure they did add enough oil and did change my air filter. read more

I like to do business with local retailers as opposed to a larger chain store. My last oil change was from a local store, but the guy in charge was a horrible asshole. So now I am at this JIFFY LUBE and the people here are fabulous! Fast, polite, efficient and amazing. Use the coupons available. Me and my boyfriend went in for an oil change . We could've done it ourselves but we were in the area so we decided why notm we went in, automatically from the start the gabe us looks. I don't know if they're homophobic or what! Anyways, they said the oil change will take about an hour or two. Anyone knows it takes max 20 to 30 minutes not an hour . 1 bay was full and their workers were sitting on their asses doing nothing and they told me an hour. I went in for a oil change and was told that the estimate would be $90 well after getting a new estimate of $110 I declined the service but was told that Kyle had already started working on my car . This used to be a great little place to get a quick oil change. Unfortunately that has changed and the work they say they are going to provide, is work that isn't done, but you are certainly charged for. I came in to get a basic oil change. I was in and out within 15 minutes. On my work order it said they filled the air in my tires and that they filled my windshield washer fluid. I leave. I looked at my receipt and the guy gave me someone else's work paper with another clients name and phone number (which means she has my information) my low windshield washer fluid light was still on (thry had not refilled it like it stated) and my low tire pressure light came on the next day. Well I took my car to castro valley tire pros to get my tires checked and all of the tires were the INCORRECT TIRE PRESSURE. Do not bring your car here. You'll be charged for work that is not completed and when you email the company they reply with a message stating they are passing your message along to the owner and manager of this location and nothing's ever said or done. We got in the car to see that they hadn't changed the sticker, did not wash the outside windows like they said, got onto 580 and realized my hood was flapping! My husband got out to close the hood and we smelled oil all over the engine. If you value your safety, I would NOT go here. Try another Jiffy Lube in the area. The other locations are worlds better than the Castro Valley location. HMMMMM....I thought background checks was something employers did....APPARTENTLY NOT...tried to get my oil changed today, they were under staffed, only 3 guys working. Was not met outside like usual to get my information , the guy who did finally address me looked high as hell and informed me they were understaffed and it would be a few minutes....GOT IT...not even worried...about 10 minutes later that same EMPLOYEE was arrested by the sheriff's department. Ummmm....not professional AT ALL. This place did the fundamental task of changing my oil perfectly fine -- quickly, and at a somewhat reasonable price. The problem is this: The baseline "Signature Service" includes multiple items on a list beyond the actual oil change. These were printed out, AND the clerk verbally recited them to me at the end before taking my credit card. I didn't really think to check whether they were actually done, but as I got back on the freeway, I looked around: a) They claim to have washed the exterior windows. If this was done at all (which I doubt), it was VERY poorly. The windshield still had a gray layer of dirt on all the areas other than the path of the wiper blades. b) They claim to have vacuumed the floors. This was definitely NOT done. The floors were exactly as covered with dirt and little bits of stuff as when I arrived. I honestly don't care that much whether my oil change comes with either of these things. But it is extremely unprofessional to claim that these services were performed -- even making a show of explicitly telling me in person "here are the things we did" -- when they obviously weren't. read more

I visited here at the end of May. They did a nice job checking/changing oil, checking/replacing cabin and engine air filters (showed me the old ones before doing so), but then things fell apart. They gave the car back to me with the glove box upside down on the floor - my cabin air filters are behind the glove box, so this was forgivable... sort of. Then I discovered a missing mint tin, where I kept loose change and emergency gas money. I called the manager when discovered, and I would have liked to hear something along the lines of a "thank you and I'll see if your tin was discovered after you left", or "I'll check with the team". Instead I got a "You have no proof" response. Very disappointing. I will not be returning to this shop. read more

So I go to this place because they have a Yelp coupon for $10.50 off, I'm new to the area, and I've had Jiffy Lube change my oil for years. They performed the service before telling me the price. I check in, try to use the coupon, and it's expired. She then refuses to honor the expired coupon. She tells me to swipe my card, but doesn't tell me what the final cost was. Only after I insisted on being told did she tell me. Wow. Do not, I repeat, do not take your car to this location to have your oil changed. A few years ago, I brought my brand new car here to have the oil changed and I got a whole lot more than that. I worked two buildings over, so I did not stick around to wait while they performed the service. I got back and paid, only to bring my car back to my workplace and found the front end had been run up on a curb. I immediately went back and saw everyone's panicked looks on the employees faces. Of course, they denied doing anything. I got the district manager's number who I left a message for and later spoke and personally met with. I've used this place a handful of times, but last couple of times they were terrible. "Signature Service" includes; vacuum/ & winows cleaned. They checked off (my last two and final visits) on paperwork that these were completed, yet they were clearly not. First time i didnt realize until I was home. Second time, I called them on it. Oil Change - check Top off fluids - check Done in a timely manner - check Did they make sure to clean the oil pan and engine area where they worked - fail. This is the second time going here. The first time, we noticed that they did not wipe off the surfaces where oil dripped onto when taking out the oil filter and old oil. You would think most of it would burn off, but when you live only a few miles away, there isn't time and subsequently, it dripped onto our driveway. My husband asked them to please be sure to do it this time and again, drips. They assured him they would and assured him they did. Not so...drips all over the driveway. The wait is never too long and I always grab coffee and enjoy whatever program they have on the tv to pass the time. A couple times they vaccuumed my floors and cleaned my front and back windshield which is going the extra mile in my book! I went on a Saturday to get an oil change and this place was packed out. The guy told me Sunday is always quieter so I came back on a Sunday and drove straight in. I was helped straight away and I think Ryan helped me with picking out the best oil for my car. He was very helpful and not pushy at all. He recommend some other oil changes but at no point did I feel rushed or pressured. I said I would check the history and return. They took my car and got on with the job. The guys were fast too. It was all done in less than 30 minutes so I can go about enjoying me day! So happy I went here, I even got a discount and they saved me some money! I really can't think of many positive things to say about this place at all. If I could give you one warning it would be to look else where for car services. I brought my car in here for an oil change, despite the negative reviews I really tired to give it the benefit of the doubt. When I first arrived I was greeted with less than enthusiastic responses by most all of the service providers and reception- almost robot like. It made me feel really awkward and not welcome but I tried to look passed it. When the reception brought me up to review the services my car needed she explained to me that my car needed a new air filter. I asked her if it was in desperate need of a change right at that moment and she told me it was extremely dirty, old and looked like it had not been changed in a very long time." I agreed and proceed with her recommendation only to have a few minutes pass before one of the mechanics called her to the door and told her they didn't have any air filters in stock for my car. She then called me back up to the desk and proceeded to tell me that " actually , your air filter looks pretty clean you don't need to have it replaced today" UH what? I'm assuming she didn't know what I had just overhead and must be instructed to tell everyone that they need to replace their air filter. Little shady if you ask me. Following the oil change ( $98 for a synthetic) I paid and left. Once home, I realized that the oil reader on my dash had not been reset and that there was no sticker regarding oil service on my windshield. I had to then return back to jiffy lube to pick up the sticker and have a mechanic retest the oil reader. I then left and went back home to realize that they had reset the reader to 3000 instead of the 5000 miles that a synthetic oils gets. I will save my self the 3rd trip back and just figure out how to reset it myself. overall I can not recommend jiffy lube and can say with 100% that I will not be back. read more
