Jim's lunch was great. I got the turkey club & the turkey was real! For desert I had the bread pudding & it was to die for! I am sorry that they close for the summer. Will definitely be back when they reopen. read more

Let me start off by saying that I did not really like Jim's the first time I came. But, I have since come here many times and I do really enjoy this place for a quick, good bite to eat. Hamburgers & Cheesesteaks are served on wax paper. Food is definitely reasonably priced here. What I really like to order at Jim's is the Reuben sandwich (you can get this every day and it comes with fries on a plate) and the Cheesesteak with fried onions and a side of fries (also available every day). The BEEF STEW and vegetable soup in winter time is amazing. The bread and butter they serve with it is also spectacular. Jim's has a lot of daily & weekly specials: Ham & Cabbage,Liver & Onions, Meatloaf, etc.; not really my thing but it's there. Hamburgers are very small and served on a small Italian roll. They're pretty good though. Now.. the special sauce.. you probably won't like it if you're not used to it. It's sort of like gravy with chili seasoning. Try it on the side of whatever you get before committing to putting it all over your food. Jim's is a small, very old, and slightly cramped place to eat... but it's good. When it's hot outside, it's hot in there too, which I guess is part of the reason they are CLOSED from Memorial Day Weekend and open up again some time after Labor Day. It is also really busy at times, but I've never had to wait more than maybe 5 or 10 minutes for a table. Waitstaff here is really nice. read more

I'm sorry, but I have to say it. Jim's Lunch is one of the most overrated eating establishments in all of Millville, WITH consideration of the amount of hype and ratings they get. I've gone a few times to here and I never liked the way in which the quality of the food is for the prices I paid. Their burgers are always tough to chew and they have no flavor to them whatsoever. Now again, I do have my own taste preferences that differ from others. That doesn't excuse the fact that one of the only reasons this location gets a ton of good reviews is because it has been around for so long. read more

When I entered Jim's, the first thing that struck me is how many waitresses, cooks, busses, that were crammed behind the counter. So much bustle and activity. Everything is being cooked right in sight. Fresh cooked fries are draining, and you can smell the burgers and 'dogs sizzling on the griddle. Fresh roasted turkey, ham, and prime rib are lined up. I sat at the lunch counter. Yes, it's dated, but it's got that kitsch factor. Everything did look very clean. A waitress appeared in front of me instantly. Not wanting to give away the fact that I was a first time customer, I didn't look at the menu. I just said "cheeseburger with everything." Whoa! The cheeseburger arrived about 2 minutes later. A little bigger than a white castle slider. Loaded with carmelized onions, and topped with a gravy like "special sauce." I took a bite, and immediately wished I had ordered at least 3 more. The flavor was unique, and totally delicious. The bun was soft, warm, and soggy (in a good way) with the sauce. To call it a "burger" isn't really doing it justice. I finished it in about 6 bites...it was that good. I then ordered one "to go" to bring to my wife. She agreed that it was delicious. read more

I travel all over the state. I have eaten many burgers. I am from the Princeton area so I think of my review as unbiased. Sure, it is an outdated greasy spoon but why is that a problem? I'm tired of this "foody" kick that we are on and even more tired of this movement that treats food like some kind of a fashion statement or status symbol. I don't care that you can cook sous vide or know how to create a potato foam. When I go to a place called Jim's lunch, I'm not going to a place where some hipster can try to sell me on farm raised beef and micro greens harvested by monks high in the mountaintops of a foreign land. I want Americana. Not the stainless steel/neon sign/ 400 desert display case Americana that super-diners try to replicate. I'm talking about the place that IS outdated because the owners don't need to add glitz and glam to keep diners from coming back. I'm seeking the spot that IS NOT spotless because the staff is too darn busy serving food. And more important than anything, I want to eat at a place that offers more than food. Jim's Lunch was built by a family and held together by devotion to the family tradition. I got two double cheeseburgers with onion and special sauce. I liked them alot and would go back for the burgers alone. The fries were seasoned well but nothing spectacular. The mashed potatoes were OK as well. But I didn't go for pretentious cuisine, I went for lunch. I went for that little meal stuck between the most important one and the one where you get to explore the realm of the culinary universe. But what I got along with my burger, fries and mashed potatoes was a feeling that I only get at a backyard barbecue with friends and family. I felt the same as when I make Pierogi for Christmas with my fiance and Grandmother. I paid for meat and some potatoes, but the family at Jim's gave me tradition, hard work and a feeling of comfort for free. Regarding a few other reviews, I don't think its a good idea to go to Longhorn. That would be a terrible idea. At that point, you may be better off at McDonald's. And to any other "vegetable" person like a past reviewer, you may want to stay away as well. There aren't really too many options for you. It seems you really missed out on a lot, but I hear Longhorn has some veggie options. And to anyone else that just couldn't imagine waiting outside being eyeballed by the diners or standing in long lines, you really don't have to go through the trouble either. I liked it. My party liked it and I will go back. Plus, I hear Longhorn takes reservations. read more

Jim's is the epitome of a greasy spoon. It is small. It is crowded. It is closed for 4.5 months each year. Nevertheless, the special sauce atop the small burgers or the Texas wieners is a winner! Add some cheese fries and one has Americana at his plate. Want to change things up? Pop in for breakfast and sit at the counter. It's old time dining. Breakfast is wonderfully delicious. The bread pudding is a treat. Jim's opens Columbus Day yearly. Don't even think of dining there on that Monday. They back up three hours just for burgers. The daily specials are fun to read on the sandwich board out front. I agree with Joy that they are over-priced. I wouldn't even think of having prime rib in a joint like this. My wife's from Millville and I'm from Vineland. I had always heard the Millbillies raving about this place and eventually I ended up trying it. At first I was underwhelmed, but since my wife's a Jim's Lunch addicted millbilly, I kept coming, and it grew on me. The burgers and dogs with everything are awesome. The only thing that scares me about the place is Rochelle. I always feel like she's going to flip out and punch me in the face for no reason, but I digress. Who doesn't appreciate nostalgia? While in the hometown of the new face of Major League BaseballI Mike Trout, I did like the "Millbillies" do and ate at Jim's Lunch. This place is a real throwback. The hustling waitresses wearing classic styled uniforms, the counter seating area, and Americana at it's finest with franks and burgers sizzling on multiple grills. Properly nestled on Main Street, you can't miss Jim's. The only thing more fitting would be if the General Lee was parked out front. In order to provide a quality Yelp review, I had to double up and go with a Texas Weiner and a Cheeseburger. Both were ordered to come equipped with "everything", which meant mustard, onions and the sauce! The aforementioned sauce is all the rave at Jim's and is a family secret (gotta love that kind of stuff). I found the cheeseburger to be a real a winner. The sauce, which I would equate to a beef gravy, complimented the patty very well. The diced onions were snappy and great too. I will say that when the burger was delivered I did have to lift the top layer of the bun to make sure that there was in fact a patty included. Next time, I may try the double. The "Texas Weiner" was fine but definitely overshadowed by the burger. The sauce, although the same, didn't do it for me on the dog. Both were served to me on a sheet of wax paper by a cheery waitress. I was provided with one measly napkin! This was going to be a real challenge as Jim doesn't skimp on his secret sauce. I dabbed and dabbed and used every millimeter of that napkin until the cheery waitress returned with ONE more... I also enjoyed sitting at the counter and watching the locals mingle. The bill ended up running me $8 and change for the cheeseburger, dog and a fountain drink. The service was extremely friendly and my "glass" never went dry. The woman who rang me up at the ancient cash register chatted me up about the Eagles! If you are in the Millville area around the lunch hour between Columbus Day and Memorial Day you have to pay a visit to Jim's Lunch. In addition to the dogs and burgers there are plenty of sandwiches to choose from as well as a full breakfast menu. read more

Ok maybe I'm not that discerning. I'm surprised to read some of the negative reviews. This is my kind of place. I like the dated interior. I'm young but feel right at home at the counter with the old timers. I read about the burgers so I had t try them. My waitress has been friendly both times I was in there. I had the cheeseburgers all the way, doubles which she recommended. I love em,. they are addictive. I had 2 doubles and some home fries (as it was the morning and they dont make fries until lunch) and it came to 10 bucks. I was FULL. Driving from work in Philly to see our Ocean City 6th grade girls stomp Dennisville in hoops, when hunger pangs hit. Millville exit...YESSIR!!! Jim's Lunch. Clapboard out front indicated that they were open. Run inside and from the looks of staff I was too close to closing time to order, but low and behold the grill man said "We still have a few minutes before closing, order what u will!" Tenative looks from the ladies gave way to friendly smiles as I confirmed they wouldn't mind me ordering this close to closing." The food review begins here and will be short...ordered two singles with everything and cheese. Delicious burgers served on split dinner roll with cheese, Jim's sauce, onions, and mustard. Washed down with a pepsi. Oh soooooo good. I would advise doubles next time as i was still hungry. Thank you for accommodating a large late comer. Can't wait to return..... read more

My mother-in-law got me hooked on the burger with everthing on it...Unique and tasty.....Food is good, bit VERY overpriced on some items. specifically the yummy burger, which is so small it would only take three bites to eat it! This little mom & pop shop was awesome! The food was so tasty that I asked my boyfriend to bring me back before I fly back home to Los Angeles! I had the breakfast sandwich with eggs, ham & cheese and creamed chip beef over potatoes and biscuits.....AMAZING! The prices are very reasonable for the hearty portions that you receive! The only draw back is....and had it not been for this I would have given them a 5 star rating, was that they didn't seem very welcoming to either Hispanics or outsiders. Jim's Lunch is a nice slice of Americana, it is a family owned and operated business in Millville, NJ and has been open almost a century. The food is what you would expect, Burgers, Dogs, Meatloaf, fresh made turkey, etc. It is a diner with some hometown flair. This is a cash only establishment, and you still here the cash register ping. which is refreshing. Jim's has a rather unique special sauce that they lather their much lauded burgers and dogs in. They also offer this unque sauce on cheesesteaks and fries. If you are looking for value, nothing on the menu beats their cheesesteak with everything (sauce included). The common complaints are the size of the burgers, and what some feel are high prices, as well as what has been characterized as an unfriendly staff. That is part of the charm, much like Winer Circle in Chi, and if you don't like it, take out is a perfectly viable solution. The bottom line is that Jim's makes excellent food. They have great turkey dinners and delicious bread pudding. These other menu items are often overlooked. If you are ever in the Millville area, I implore you to at least sample food at this institution instead of chain fare. Let me assure you cost will not be prohibitive if you were contemplating this and a chain restaurant. read more

best lunchenette in s. jrz.....it is nice to come to a restaurant and get fresh cut meat such as turkey and pork cut right off the bone in front of you...you can't get anything fresher....the staff is supurb and quick....been to jim's approx 2doz times and NEVER, repeat NEVER had a bad meal....i just wish they were open longer thru the year....but i see how many hours they put in so i guess they deserve a little time off....i wish there would be a jim's lunch 2 in cape may county some day!!! most off your restaurants here are typical hamberger, hot dog and philly cheese steaks.....yuck! read more

The locals rave about this place all year around. It's only open seasonal which I think is genius for the business to do. But my personal experience was that Jims tasted ordinary. The sauce that people love is a lite gravy. Good place to stop in for breakfast or lunch at the most. I wouldn't travel hours to come here tho. read more

Meh, I mean my daughter would Love this place as she is literally a plain Jane. If you want to flashback to 1950s cooking Americana and this place is right up your alley. I tried he double cheeseburger with everything the way they make it is basically a burger with gravy and onions again meh. Ordered a piece of their homemade carrot cake because my plain Jane just loves the stuff and it had to be the smallest piece of cake I've ever seen granted it was only three bucks so I guess that's something. This place looks like it totally belongs right here in Millville I pass through here all the time but will not be stopping again. I love it here although the building is very tiny and hard to get around, it also is very hot and sweaty. They don't have to many places to eat or sit. when you call it is loud and sometimes had to hear. their food is great, a little greasy sometimes but that's the price you pay to eat out places.
