I've been eating at Jims Lunch ever since I was a small child. There is absolutely nothing like it and is an experience in itself. The burgers, cheesesteaks and texas wieners w/ special sauce are killer. I live in Millville. But ive only been to Jim's lunch a few times. The place is always so crowded. Ppl standing outside. And I don't get it. It can't be for the actual food.. I think it's because they want to say they had a JIM'S LUNCH Burger. Like its some accomplishment lol. Ill never wait in like for a basic hamburger. Anyway to my food review.. Me n a friend were headed down main st.. And we were hungry.. Got to Jim's and saw that surprisingly there was no crazed mob outside. So we went in.. And mind you this was like 2 years ago. And the last time I was in there before that was sometime in the early 2000s.I remembered the food back then and hoped it got better. I was wrong. So bland.. So basic. Not enough fries. Just.. Generic as hell. I think the reason ppl rave over this place is because of the reputation they have as being a staple in Millville.. so with that said.. I think people brains trick them into thinking the burger is actually better than it actually is. Because it's a JIM'S LUNCH BURGER. Kinda like the whole placebo thing where a drug addict in rehab that is in withdrawal gets water in his IV and he's told its morphine.. And he immediately feels better. I think it's similar. Idk.. Im not bashing the joint.. Its just very.. Not special. If you guys love it.. Hey great. I hope Jim's lunch is around for years to come for all of you. But truthfully.. Extremely overrated. Back when I lived in Millville me and my family used to eat here every once in awhile but started eating at the Millville Queen diner instead. The reasons? First of all, Jim's lunch has the smallest portions you'll ever find in a diner. Ever. It's like they expect you to be Lilliputians on a diet. The burgers are so small that they are nearly the size of a small slider. To make up for this you have to order a double cheeseburger just to somewhat compensate. Now get this: not only are the portions incredibly small but the prices are ridiculously high for the small amount you get. Couple this with the fact that the taste and quality isn't really that good and you have to ask yourself why this place exists. I lived in Millville for 30 years and Jim's Lunch gets a lot of credit for simply being a millville institution. It isn't anything special, it's overcrowded and hard to get a seat, the service is sub par and the portions are small...but yet it's considered a holy site. If you're in Millville and want to eat somewhere nice for a good price then go to broad street and eat at the Millville Queen. Nice waitresses, pretty decent food and a good price. This establishment has been around for generations. Its the best restaurant attraction for Millville NJ. Its a tradition to eat here when in town for the holidays or to visit family. I highly recommend their cheesesteaks, hamburgers, home made platters, etc. Try the milkshakes too. read more

My kids love this place...so I came along. #1 I don't like a check presented with only the total...no idea what is being charged, specially when you order something different from the menu. #2 asking for please no oil and getting more grease then food...yuk!! #3 forgetting our food to go.... Jim's Lunch is a Millville classic. It's more of a novelty or "tourist" place to go to. However, they are a bit overpriced for the portions you receive. For example, their burgers are basically 2/8s of an inch thick, maybe even less, on a small bun for about $4-$5 dollars. You can request toppings, but they do not usually come with it. The food is pretty tasty overall, but nothing spectacular. The staff is pretty friendly. It's definitely a place that locals are very familiar with. read more

I am from Millville. They do have tasty burgers, but boy does it give you tummy issues about an hour later. If your from the area, try it out. Their sauce is yummy. But its always so packed and over hyped that I just don't enjoy going there anymore. read more

Stopped in after a brewery tour. The place has such charm. I am not from the area, but I can see that the locals love it and the ladies working the counter were cracking me up; they handled our huge group wonderfully. I had a double hamburger with everything (onion, mustard and sauce) and it was great. They cook the bun on the griddle with the burger so it gets crunchy; I really liked that. The sauce is like Salisbury steak gravy; a tasty signature sauce for a burger. I am glad we got to stop in. read more

If you are from out of town stay away. Although this is an institution in the city, the food is a greasy mess. I have tried it on several occasions because of being with friends. If you like your portions small, saturated in grease, and totally over-priced, then you can't do better than this place. Like somebody else noted before, I'm not sure what I could be missing. The food is downright nasty. For the same money, you're better off eating at a Bob Evans or Perkins. If you want a burger, this place makes McDonalds seem like a 5-star, high-class restaurant. OMG This place is awesome. There is usually a looooong line to get in but it is totally worth the wait. I could drink a bucket of the burger sauce! I moved to Delaware 6 years ago and this is the ONLY thing I miss about Millville. If you enjoy being glared at by the owner, Rochelle or hearing her husband, Jim cuss and verbally abuse the waitresses this is the place for you. If you enjoy paying ridiculous prices for over rated small burgers this is the place for you. Their breakfast far surpasses their lunch and dinner and breakfast is when you get the nice wait staff. There are 2 ladies who have been there for years and are the reason I keep coming back for breakfast. They treat you with kindness regardless of your ethnic background. It's very obvious that the owners would like to keep it a "whites only" establishment. All of the 5 star reviews are based on tradition and nostalgia period. read more
