I came to Jimboys today to pick up lunch for my mom who was at work. When I walked in, I immediately noticed someone eating inside without a mask. Given this, maybe I should have left right away. Within 10 minutes of ordering several groups of people came into the restaurant with no mask or were not wearing their masks over their noses and mouths. The staff did nothing about it and the anti-maskers were not keeping any distance from me at all. I felt extremely unsafe and angry that Jimboy's is not following Covid safety guidelines. This was the worst experience I have had coming into a place of business during the pandemic. Jimboy's is and always has been the OG of Grub Halls! This new location is super modern and clean. The staff is friendly and you can tell most of them are new. They are kicking ass and taking names though! 1.12.19 Today was the EVER 1st time trying Jimboy Tacos. The photos looked appealing in their window, I always thought their taco shells would be crunchy? I ordered 2 regular ground beef tacos (total at $5.75) that had cheese, great amount of shredded lettuce & the shells had Parmesan cheese on the outer part. My husband had their ground beef burrito (total at $4.50) -approximate amount on both orders... there was a seperate area where they had different sauces you can pack up for yourself. I chose mild salsa, while my husband packed up some green salsa. We took the order to go & ate it the car. My husband burrito was truly interesting. It was nothing but tortilla & a butt load of ground beef. THATS IT! He said it tasted like hamburger helper & the green salsa was the only thing that made a difference in taste & flavor. I took a bite to try, it was very bland. I was kind of glad I did not order this. The taco shells looked crunchy in pictures but were actually soft?? Even though it appears to be a corn cruncky tortilla, more like soggy. The flavor reminds me of eating popcorn, because of flavor & smell. It has cheese like what Jack In The Box puts into their tacos. Their ground beef actually tastes pretty good compared to eating Jack In The Box's but I love how their tacos are crunchy & wish this had the same texture of crunch. I feel the best part of it was at least having a generous amount of lettuce in my tacos & the interesting parm they placed on the outside of the taco shells. It reminded me of the corn on the stick street food with mayo & seasoning it & seeing the parm as the topping. Overall, it was aight, probably rate it a 6.5 to 7 out of 10 in all for Jimboys tacos. Ordered an enchilada & taco plate, Tahoe burrito, and street fries. Overall the food tasted fresh and the presentation was very nice. Was disappointed in the taco since it's supposed to be their specialty. The shell was soft and soggy, even though it looked like it was deep fried so I was confused about that. The ground beef inside was dry, but they did have good salsas you could drench it with. I found the enchilada to be pretty flavorless and needed more sauce. The rice was bland as well, which is basically my favorite part of Mexican food. Perhaps their version is a little healthier and lighter and that's the reason. My absolute favorite item was the street fries. The fries were HOT and CRISPY, loved the cheese sauce, fresh toppings, and the asada was seasoned well. Do not mobile order here. We waited 30+ minutes after we had a notification that our food was ready. The young girl at the counter told me that she didn't know "how to do mobile orders."
