Completely unprepared for spring break. We have been waiting for an hour, 6 people, and folks that came 40 minutes after us with 6 have been seated. Half the restaurant is empty. One of the worst food experiences I have ever had. Servers seemed to have no idea of what they were doing and gave weird vibes. The kitchen was extremely slow. The food was sub par at best. The vibes were weird. Also when you paid $20 to park, we were told that we would recieve a credit- which we did not. We wanted to get out of there so we didn't argue it. The whole experience was extremely disappointing and out right embarrassing. I wish I read reviews before going! Food and service were great under trying technical conditions for servers and bar staff. GM seemed a little heavy handed and threatening to to the he "crew that do" because she did not have the technology ready to go for her staff to succeed. Starting the weekend at a beach bar is always a good choice! This place is awesome! It's inside and outside with great views and lots of seating! The menu is vast! It has some great beach mode features and everything we tried was tasty! You have to get a Pretzel shaped like an Iguana. The service was excellent! We had a large group and never waited for drinks, the food came pretty quick, and they kept the table bussed! Lots of great photo spots! I was there tonight , place was busy which I understand it took 15 mins of waiting for someone to seat us. The woman manager asked another manager to seat at table 64 , he didn't say anything at all( not even enjoy your meal or someone will be right with you) . We sat and watched multiple servers walk pass us and not even a knowledge us , we watch another group walk in 15 minutes later and there orders were taken within minutes. We waited another 15 minutes and still no one had A knowledge us . At this point we have been there for over 40 mins, so we decided to walk out. As we left a waitress said you guys were there for a long time did anyone wait on you. Absolutely not. The bad part is I am a chef for the Tampa bay Bucs and this was by far the worst experience I have ever witnessed. I was a GM for restaurants for over 20 years before working for the Bucs. This is the place to go when the weather in Florida gives you the sunny/blue sky days as they have quite an outdoor seating area. You can enjoy watching the activity on the inter-coastal and they often have live music to help with the vibe. A part of the Holiday Inn, they offer a good sized parking lot and places to tie up boats if you come by water. Our most recent visit was more for the beverages, but we did enjoy some coconut shrimp. read more

Do yourself a favor and skip this restaurant. It was honestly one of the worst dining experiences I've had when it comes to both food and drinks. The only pleasant part of the experience was the hostess, who was friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, the rest didn't live up to even basic expectations. The bartender couldn't make a proper margarita, which was surprising for a place that seems to cater heavily to tourists. I dined here multiple times on my trip to Tampa! I did stay right there at the Holiday Inn, so access to this restaurant was extremely easy. I felt the dining experience was very magical! I loved being by the water, with the hanging lights, and live music. The servers were also friendly and very hospitable. My drawback was not loving some of the menu items like the gumbo in particular. It just tasted overly roasted and salty. But, outside of that... no complaints! I highly recommend the Jolly Mon shrimp appetizer! It's indulgent, sure, but oh my goodness! It just melts in your mouth! Also, the iguana pretzel was so cute and so many people kept ordering it, so I had to know! I'm so happy I found out! Most pretzels are so dry they suck the moisture out of your mouth, but this pretzel was buttery and the beer cheese dip was a fantastic pairing. I would love to come back here sometime! I've had both the lunch and breakfast they provide. In the first photo is the absolute delectable bonsai shrimp and the second is the delightful French toast and oranges both were amazing! The service was great with speedy response times and a great attitude towards me and my family with there being no issues whatsoever on both visits! I can't think of a single thing bad to write down because all of it down to the ambiance was phenomenal! They might want to rename this place "Jimmy Guanos". It took 25 mins for our food to come out after ordering, despite after being told numerous times that it was 'almost done'. When it did finally come out, it was cold and below average for bar food. The only thing worse than the food was the service - in the middle of trying to order more food, our waitress walked away, not to be seen again for 10-15 mins. I don't know if they have a general apathy toward tourists or families with small children but my recommendation is to stay away at all costs. read more

I really really want to like this place. We stay in property almost every year. I only eat here when I have to. This last visit I really had hope because our waiter had a good sense of humor.....but that was the only highlight. We stopped to get lunch before our flight in Tampa. We had a couple hours but didn't think we would have to use it up there waiting for food. We got there and we were the first table after which 4 more tables walked in. We were the first to order (my friend got boiled shrimp) my husband and I got a simple burger. We waited almost an hour for our simple food. It was a nice sunny day outside so we didn't get fuming mad but when part of our order was forgotten and then we never got the side of chips until we finally checked out. So we gave it to our friend who was staying longer than us. The burgers were not cooked right but we had to gobble and go. The burger was not at all worth the wait. Why the waiter asked what temp we wanted our burger we have no idea. They both came out well done. The waiter was joking with us for a while until he could see things were going south. Then they had computer problems and couldn't figure out our bill. The table behind us got so pissed about the wait for their food they just decided to leave (so it wasn't just us). A time before (last year) we tried their breakfast inside.....epic fail just go to the breakfast joints over the bridge....avoid the breakfast here like COVID! I will say the night before we ordered some deep fried shrimp that was good so we felt courageous and try lunch.....we shouldn't have. It's just so disappointing, it's a convenient enough location but they just can't seem to get it together. They gotta do something about it. They are sitting on a goldmine if they could just get the kitchen right and the waitstaff. If you can, go someplace else you should. We opted with outside dining. The weather being perfect and a nice breeze off the water. Beer was nice and cold too. I really feel let down by Jimmy Guana's. It would be such a perfect hidden gem...it's literally quite hidden as it is tucked away behind the open-air hotel "lobby/atrium." The view on the water is also sooo nice and they have live music! Unfortunately, the food and service did not live up to the atmosphere. The server barely acknowledged us and spent most of her time leaning against the bar (At first I assumed she was waiting on drinks to be made but after a while, it was obvious that couldn't have been the case.), I even walked up to her to ask to put in my order eventually. The staff is not concerned with service, even though there are plenty of them hanging out in the kitchen. We sat inside for som air cond so maybe service is better outside in the mugginess at the bar. It took almost 30 minutes to get a beer and it wasn't the beer we ordered. The food came before the beer and soft and mushy is the best description. The fries are ick! The shrimp are soft and mushy! The burger was dry and no flavors. Needless to say we barely ate and left. I moved away from this area and haven't been here in so long. It was never my favorite but the view on the water is so peaceful. To my surprise it got so much better! The service was very good.
