I was skeptical walking into this place. It doesn't look like much. But WOW their spicy, Mexican/Cajun inspired food was amazing! I ordered the steak street tacos and the corn, and I don't know which I liked more. The corn reminded me of Mexican street corn: chili powder, mayo, and lime on top of a crispy corn on the cob. But dare I say their take was even better? It packed in the flavor! I almost wanted to order a second one! And the street tacos were so bursting with toppings that the guacamole, steak, and cotija cheese toppled onto the chips that came in the dish. I didn't even know you could put sriracha on tacos and I'd honestly never even felt the desire to try sriracha before, but I think I may be its new biggest fan. The atmosphere here is laid back and beyond casual with an outdoor deck and bright, vibrant colors on all the walls. But don't let that fool you -- I swear this food is better than I've had in any major city. And it's at the top of my list for when I come back to Winter Park! Bonus: this place has gluten free marked on the menu, and as someone with celiac, I can verify that it's safe for even the most sensitive people! read more

Meh, that's about all I can say about the food here. The cheese sauce on the nachos and fries dries up really quickly and gets cold and stiff. Skip the cheese and just go for the fries. The nachos were nothing special, the best part of the nachos were the fried jalapeño caps. Luckily they do offer just a side of those. And they aren't that spicy so be a a lil adventurous. :) The burgers appear to be marinated with some seasoning which was good, but skip the ketchup and mayo unless you like your burger DRENCHED in it. They slathered the top and bottom bun in both, so much so the veggies and bun were sliding all over the place. If there is a next time here, I'll ask for it on the side. The steak teriyaki tacos were good, they come with a side of plain tortilla chips. But hubby felt they were on the small side. All in all, this place is setup similar to a Tijuana flats, you order then take your seats and the food is delivered. For a cheeseburger (no side), two steak tacos, an order of nachos, cheese fries, 2 sodas and a beer, the order came to $33. A little pricey for the quality of the food, I think I'd rather go to Tijuana Flats for that price. The music and atmosphere are about the only good things this place has going on at this point. It's a nice place to sit outside and relax. Great beach vibe if that's what you are looking for. Also, they do serve beer and sangria. This won't be any place we go out of our way for and even being in the area, would probably be our last resort if we don't have time for anywhere else. read more

The burgers here are like a greasy, amazing patty straight from the gods. My personal favorite is the Aloha burger with a huge slice of pineapple, swiss and oozing teriyaki sauce. You'll need about 10 napkins to make it through this beastie! I always order a fire grilled avocado drizzled with sriracha sauce and accompanied by chips. Simply put, I am a fan of Jimmy Hula's. I have been coming to the Winter Park location since it opened and have never experienced a bad meal. They have delicious fish tacos like the Killer or the Malibu but my hands down favorite is their Pipeline Pork Taco, which is part of the "turf" side of their taco selection. The beer selection on draft is great and it is hard to beat a nice Sweetwater Blue when you pair it with two street tacos and a side of your choosing. Fire-roasted Avocado is a delicious side that is so basic, you'll wonder why you haven't made it at home yourself. The restaurant itself is chock full of personality and a good space for a couple to have dinner or a group of friends to all come and hang out. read more

I can't say enough how much I LOVE this place and I usually don't care for the self-serve type of restaurant. The concept, flavors, and freshness just outshines other restaurant choices. Last night I had the Malibu Taco, but instead with crispy chicken and slaw added. The flour tortilla was perfect, fresh yet crisp on the outside. My son had his favorite - The Duke burger with Macaroni and cheese added (can it BE any better?) and we also ordered the amazing Zucchini fries with the Lava sauce which is completely yummy and good on ANYTHING. Service was very good and we did not have to wait long for our food to come out. I don't think they could have done better then this. This review is specifically about the new breakfast options at this location. The food was amazing. I had a hard time choosing because the options all looked very different and unique. I selected The Colonel and my wife got the Chicken and Waffles, both with potato pancakes. Both of our meals with very unique and tasty renditions of these breakfast dishes. Plenty drink options too like mimosas, coffee, and juice make this a breakfast option we will revisit. Also the staff was very friendly and wanted to know what we thought about the food. Their menu is short but varied, so you have a lot more ingredients to pick from when getting a burger, bowl or tacos. I went with a group of friends and we all ordered something different -- and loved it. I personally had a bowl and it was very filling, but didn't make you feel gross and full. My friend enjoyed her Hawaiian Burger, and my other friend (who is vegetarian) had a few options on the menu. He ended up ordering The Treehugger Tacos which actually looked really good. I don't live in the area so it was only my second time visiting and I was impressed. I apologize in advance for the lack of photos, we were starving. But trust me it looks VERY appealing. I ordered the 3 taco combo, it comes with a drink and your choice of chips and guac, salsa, or queso OR fries. I chose the guac, and although it was pretty good I don't think it was worth upgrading to the meal. I really liked their chips and the tacos come with them even without the meal. As for the tacos I chose 2 standards (carnitas and carne asada) and 1 Johnny Utah. I absolutely love the way they toast their tortillas so that its still a soft shell but sturdy enough to support the filling. and they certainly don't skimp on the fillings. I enjoyed the carnitas the most, perfect flavor. I appreciated the uniqueness of the Johnny Utah and would order it again. I didn't feel that the carne asada itself had much flavor to it. However, all of the other toppings on the standards were fresh and delicious. My boyfriend got 3 buffalo caesar tacos and loved them, he's been here a bunch of times. My friend who recently moved to the area got the Poke bowl and said she liked it and is interested in returning to try the rest of the menu. We got a couple of the cookies for dessert- pretty good and a tad underdone. I like that but some people don't. The woman who took our order was very patient with us and knowledgable about the menu. Food came pretty promptly. Another plus was the outside seating and beautiful weather. I saw they have some deals during the week too. Check this place out for some great tacos! Brought out food for everyone at my party. Server said mine would be right out. Clearly forgot to put my order in, which is fine. Mistakes happen. Fifteen minutes go by and no food comes. The entire staff is standing around chatting with each other. My husband went to the counter and asked about my order. The counterperson said, "oh, some items just take longer." Fine. Once my husband left the counter, however, we heard the counter girl call out my order to the kitchen (now 20 minutes later). When she finally brought it out (35 minutes later), it was cold, and she did not even apologize for the wait. Instead, she gave me a side-eye and slammed the food down without a word. I wrote this review while still in the restaurant because I had just spent $50 for that nonsense. A few minutes later, a manager (?) emerged from the kitchen and asked the table next to us loudly, "So, how was the service? Going better for you than Melissa?" as he looked over at our table, smirking. Just unprofessional and rude. For the price, it's not worth the (mis)treatment. The food is ok but overpriced for what it is and the staff, at least tonight, was not great. read more

Forever I had a completely different thought of what type of restaurant this was....I thought it was table service and also mostly seafood and this deterred me from coming. Whoops....I was wrong. My baby was in the NICU and we spent a lot of time in this area for about a week recently. We ate at nearly every restaurant during this time and were able to stop by here. It was a great experience and I was pleased I was wrong about the place. We ordered a ton of stuff including tacos, beans and rice, a burger, and the corn. It was all delicious. I didn't love my choice of tacos as they were all varying flavors which was weird but that was my fault. If I had kept to one theme I think I would have been happier with my choices. I got a teriyaki taco, kick' chicken taco, and tree hugger taco. The kick'n chicken was the best. The crack'd corn was good but since it was an appetizer I was hoping it was smaller ears of corn so we could share more easily as opposed to one ear of corn. Visited Jimmy Hulas - Hunters Creek today, Monday August 18, 2014. We were greeted promptly and were treated great!! The gal behind the registered suggested some of her favorite dishes, which i always welcome and appreciate. We ordered Cuban spring rolls to share, wipe out tacos for me, bangin' beef for my better half, salsa, queso and guacamole, 1 beer and a soft drink. The bill came out to $28.00 (no tip). The place has a really good vibe; however the food tastes generic, no real flavor. The portions were good for one person. Good place to try out. Would we go back?? Very hospitable staff! Nothing but smiles once I walked in! Ordered the Shrimp Po Boy, coleslaw and hula fries. Po Boy had a bunch of delicious fried shrimp in it- definitely a great and tasty value! I found 3 pieces of cardboard in my taco. Yesterday I went with my friend to your location in Winter Park. I had ordered 2 of the whipeout tacos. The first one I had at the actual restaurant was fine (as far as I know of). I took the second one home and had it today. As I am eating it I took a bite into something hard and then noticed it was card board. This was so disgusting to find and this restaurant chain has been going so down hill lately but this definitely. My husband & I really enjoyed our dine in at Jimmy Hulas in Aloma. Nice,accomodating staff, fast service, very affordable & good selection of food in their menu, and the place is cool to hang out. My husband & I shared a fire roasted avocado & chips, I had half shrimp po boy sandwhich combo(with Cajun fried & drinks) & my husband had one of the fish tacos & a cocktail- everything turned out good & new to my taste. Jimmy Hula's is a burger joint with radical toppings in each of their specialty burgers. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the whole place is decorated to feel like a hut on a tropical resort. The burger I love and always have at Jimmy Hula's is the BURNT REYNOLDS which is topped with a fried Egg, American Cheese, Bacon, Lays Chips, Lettuce, and Ketchup. And it is AMAZING. With all those toppings you would be more than satisfied, but I also like to add CAJUN FRIES (mmm!) If you have never gone, you really really should go.
