I finally got around to trying Jimmy Johns after constantly being told about it , and let me say I'm not impressed. The first thing that grabbed my attention upon entry was the name itself. I can understand naming a place of business after oneself, but Jimmy Johns takes it to another level. The mans name is everywhere, I counted at least a dozen signs with his name, not to mention it was on the delivery signs for cars, on the sandwich wrappers, cookie wrappers, chip bags, on napkins, on every employee's shirt and hat, menus, lights, even two of the sandwiches have his name! (JJBLT and JJ Gargatuan) There is even a large framed portrait of Jimmy John himself in the back. All of it screams egotistical to me, which when talking to someone who thinks that way is a bit annoying, but being surrounded by it while trying to eat? It makes it hard to enjoy myself. The food here is dull and uninspired, while being presented as if it has never been seen before. It took me nearly 20 minutes to decide what I wanted, more so out of sheer shock that there was nothing interesting on the menu. Anything I could get here, I could make myself for a fraction of cost. The only thing that sounded remotely appealing, and the sandwich I ended up ordering was the Gargantuan. As a ten dollar sandwich, I was expecting way more than I got. There was plenty of meat on the sandwich, but the taste was bland at best. The meat tasted much less than fresh, as it is advertised, and had a chemical taste to it. The bread was old and stale, and the lettuce was brown. Limp colorless tomatoes and mushy onions topped off my sandwich, all in all leaving a bad taste in my mouth. The chips and cookie I got were sub par at best, the oatmeal cookie was stale and hard, and the chips tasted store bought. Putting such aside, they weren't bad, but fell into the same groove of the sandwiches; You can do much better with a little effort. Going to the store to buy bread, meat, veggies, cookie mix and a $1 bag of chips would be far better, and still cost less when it comes to the bill. The only saving grace was the soda I got, but of course how can one get a soda wrong when it just needs to be pumped through a machine? After giving it a second try a week later, I can't say I would be surprised if they did find a way to mess up soda. During my second visit I got a number 1, the Pepe. Ham and cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo. As far as sandwiches go, a ham and cheese should be the equivalent of boiling water. I got the same bad lettuce and tomatoes, not to mention that the ham was bunched up in the middle of my sandwich along with the cheese, which gave a good amount of eating nothing but bread, mayo, and the gross expired vegetables. The bread was, again, stale and old. The man at the counter insisted it was new and fresh, and 'Couldn't be less than two hours old', and if I wanted fresher bread I'd have to wait an hour for the newest bread to come out of the oven. For bread less than two hours old it tasted like bread that had been made a week ago, and left out to sit the entire time. My final complaint is the owner. His name is Steve I think, and certainly seems like the wrong person to own a store, or at least wrong to do any work in the store itself. While other employees are all wearing gloves before handling any food, the owner directly touched plenty of food without anything, he grabbed bread for an employee to use, started digging through the lettuce, pulled out a container of tomatoes and leafed through them before putting it back. He has no apron, and wears no hat like the others do, which leaves me worrying if a hair or something else entirely will fall from his shirt and into my food, not to mention the question of 'Where were those hands before they dug through the lettuce and tomatoes?' The last complaint I have (From what I saw) was this man approaching a group of high school girls, and asking them if they lived in the area, if they could drive, how old they were, etc. He ended it by asking if they wanted jobs, and that if they did to come in and talk to them, which is a good idea really, its good to get a business out to people about that age for potential employees. However, they way about talking to them (asking if they wanted jobs at the END) was just plain creepy, and it was palpable. The girls were obviously uncomfortable that an old man was asking them all these questions, and frankly, I was too just from sitting close by, which made my meal just feel awkward, which made it hard to eat. They seemed to bounce back a bit upon hearing it was an offer for a job, but still, it diminished my appetite. All in all, this isn't a place I would like to return to, I don't want any of the boring food, nor do I want the atmosphere that is provided to eat the food in, whether it be egotistical thanks to the decor, or just plain awkward and sort of creepy thanks to the owner approaching teenagers. 1/5 is my rating, Avoid this Jimmy Johns if you can! read more

I like a good sandwich as much as the next person, and Jimmy John's promises fast and cheap subs so I thought I'd check it out. I was less than impressed. The food is pretty tasty for a hungry person, but when you get right down to it not so much: the bacon is cold, bacon is always delicious but on a sandwich it should be warmed up, at least in a microwave, cheese is not included on most of the subs and so costs extra, cheese is one of the best things about a sub, how can it not be included? Also, pickles are not an available extra on a sandwich, the only way to get one is to pay extra (yet again) to get a whole pickle on the side - less than satisfactory. All in all, Jimmy John's is not my first choice - especially when there are better sub shops not even a block away. read more

Not real sure what Jennifer B. is talking about. This place doesnt toast sandwiches, and has like, NO options compared to pretty much every other sandwich place like EVER. limited meat and only one cheese, with no way to make a custom from scratch sandwich? I get the feeling that Jimmy Johns thinks it knows what I want better than I do. I feel like a monkey could make a more interesting sandwich, probably for less. Plus, maybe im missing backstory, but the old guy ( i think hes the manager?) was getting all huffy and cussing at employees? i understand friendly jokes at work, but he was dead serious and calling the delivery guys stupid or somethin. I walked into this Jimmy John's needing to go to the bathroom, I walked into the bathroom and saw a worker taking a stinky poop. honestly kinda turned me on so I bought myself a nice sandwich. Probably the best sandwich I've ever had. read more
