Never been to a Jimmy John's before so I gave it a try. Should have known better when I made my way through dope smoking hang outs on the terrace of this establishment. Music inside was loud, ordered the Cuban sandwich. It was made really fast and that is the problem. After wiggling myself past the dope smokers, I got back to my room and found a soulless, tightly wrapped sandwich. Not toasted, piece of bread with no taste, pieces of bacon that looked and tasted like roadkill and a few pieces of ham. Mayo and mustard gave it some flavor, imagine that. Waste of 13 bucks. Ordered a normal sandwich in the hotel restaurant. Once but never again. read more

I grabbed a quick lunch because I knew that I could. I ordered my usual, the Vito's and ate in. My table was towards the back of the restaurant. This location was clean, it has amazing clerks that were extremely kind and helpful along with the delicious sandwiches being served. It was a cold rainy day in Pittsburgh so my coworker and I decided to order Jimmy John's delivery, we even joked how it would be freaky fast like their commercials say. We placed our online order at 11:45 for two sandwiches and two bags of chips. About an hour later we saw on the website that our food was out for delivery so we waited in the lobby of my building for the delivery guy. At 12:45 I called Jimmy John's to see where our food was and the person on the phone said they attempted one delivery and no one was there to receive it so it had to be redeployed, he assured me our food would arrive in 5-10 more minutes. My office has a security desk that someone sits at 24/7 so I knew that wasn't true and we were sitting down there waiting! Fast forward 15 minutes, still no food so we went back to our desks and called Jimmy John's again, this time he told her our food has been out for delivery for 30 mins and it should arrive soon. It is now 1:20pm and I haven't had any lunch so we decide to go get something else and when I walk into the lobby of my building the delivery man is there with two subs in a bag that has dirt on it and there are no chips. We accept the food and go back up to our floor to eat it. I opened the paper that my sub was wrapped in and there is sauce all over the place which then gets all over my desk. I am assuming it was made 2 hours ago and was in the delivery mans bag the entire time. I was very disappointed by the lack of communication from the staff at Jimmy John's, the two hour wait for our food, and them forgetting part of our order. Great sandwiches! They are located on Liberty Avenue across the street from Fifth Avenue Place. They offer three types of different sandwiches. Plain Slims which is a regular sub minus the veggies. Eight inch sub sandwiches and Giant Club Sandwiches which have twice the meat and cheese. You can choose between two types of bread (french and seven grain). You can also get a low carb lettuce wrap called a JJ Unwich if your watching your calories. If your really hungry or just want to have your own "Man vs Food" moment go for The JJ Gargantuan. It consists of genoa salami, sliced smoked ham, capicola, roast beef, turkey and provolone cheese on a french bun smothered with onions, mayo, lettuce and tomato covered with homemade Italian dressing. This is a difficult business to rate. How does one judge a Jimmy John's? Best sub around, no, quickest sub around, yes. Their business model is different than others. Let's get to the nuts and bolts: Fast, decent food, my new favorite 5 buck sandwich on a tenth of a billable hour. Plenty of them out there and "freaky fast," they have a better price point than Subway. The restaurant seems clean, but, I did hear employees whine about my "x-tra everything" sub I ordered online while I waited next to them; that was fairly funny when I asked for it after standing next to them while they whined. read more

Great value. I went for their #1, the ham and cheese sub. For a quick-serve place, this sandwich was tops. Mind you, it's no mom and pop sub shop, but if you are on lunch break, and need to eat quickly and deliciously, this is the place for you. Make sure you do go through your topping options, or else you only get lettuce and tomato with a little mayo. This chain is still not anywhere near Jersey Mike's type quality and flavor, but it's a good place for a quick lunch, especially when you are pressed for time. The one by the courthouse must be a money printing machine... It's faster preparation than Subway, at a similar price and quality of ingredients. I'd go back if I were in the area and needed a quick bite to eat. read more

Horrible location. I placed an order at 11 AM for delivery at 11:45. At 12:15, I still hadn't gotten anything and it said it had been out for delivery for over 45 minutes at this point. I went down to the lobby of my building 3 times in case they just didn't call me. I finally called the store at 12:45 and they said the delivery guy was out, there was nothing they could do. At around 1 PM the guy calls me and says that my sandwich is waiting in the lobby. (They don't even both to bring to your floor anymore) I tell him it was supposed to be delivered an hour and 15 minutes ago. He gave me some attitude about how they were busy and hung up. I understand they can get busy, which is why I ordered at 11 AM. Over two hours to bring me a sandwich is unacceptable. I filled out a compliant form on their website and got zero response, I submitted it over a month ago. Don't order from here if you actually want to eat your lunch. The sandwich was super soggy by the time I got it as well. read more

Jimmy Johns is great. It's fast, it's cheap, it's a chain, you can find them anywhere. Reviewed just so they'd have a better than 3 star rating. Also, I lost ~10lbs on the unwich diet this summer. Subway has nothing on JJ's... What's an unwich, you ask? Allow me to enlighten you. It's lettuce subbed in for the bread. I made fun of people that ordered them. Until I tried it. Holy fat kid at skinny camp, these are good. It's actually all I get when I go there now...It's ~400 calories of lettuce-wrapped delightfulness. I go for the #11, unwich, add sprouts, cukes, oregano, hot peppers, ez mayo, ez dijon. Other favorites are #8, #12, & #14. You can't really go wrong here. read more

Two and a half stars! A couple of my co-workers and I had to attend an off-site training session this morning. As a way of saying thanks, our District Director treated the three of us to lunch afterwards. To tell you the truth, because of all the great sandwich shops Downtown, I'd never eaten at Jimmy John's before. Subway, Quizno's, Jimmy John's--they're all pretty much alike to me. I did opt for the Turkey Tom and on its own merits, it was a good sandwich. The turkey was better than what you get at Subway and the veggies (sprouts, lettuce, tomatos, plus I had them put onions on mine) seemed fresh enough. Just a couple of notes of caution: these are 8-inch subs and although you might think a turkey sandwich is light, these bad boys still pack in over 500 calories. And that ain't even with cheese on it. And if you opt for the "healthier" 7-grain wheat bread, you're bumping it up to over 600 calories. read more

Worst place I've ever been to with the worst employees ever. One member of my group forgot to ask for no mayo. Asked if they could redo the sandwich because he doesnt like mayo. General manager threw the sandwich at the wall and yelled at him to not forget next time. Then she handed us the new sandwich and told us to "please get the fuck out now." When we got upset security was called and we were told to leave, without even eating and with three disabled elderly people with us. Corporate then had nothing to say about the incident. Jimmy John's used to be great when they first opened. But the last 2 times I've ordered delivery it has taken forever (1+ hour today), and they also messed up my order twice. Bland and boring, but sometimes that's what you want. The bread here is supposed to be baked fresh, but I've had it be hard and stale before. The signs advertising "free smells" are kind of useless- there is nothing inside baking or cooking to smell good. Choice of bread is a french bread, a multi-grain (which is actually higher in calories) and lettuce-wrap type deal. Cheese does not come standard on the sandwiches unless specifically indicated- otherwise it is an upcharge, which seems slighty ridiculous. The choices are limited- no grilled chicken, for instance. You can upgrade to a meal by adding chips and a drink. Beware, even the "Thinny Chips" pack 260 calories (the website says 130, but that's for a serving. The bag contains 260 calories worth- who eats 1/2 of an individual serving of chips). On the plus side, it is super quick and the people are polite and friendly. They deliver, too. read more

This is a great place to go to for a lunch break or a quick dinner. You will be in and out in less than 5 minutes with a perfectly tasty sub and sandwich. I have always ordered the #5 which is named the Vito. It is a classic Italian sandwich and I always get it with hot peppers, which you have to specify during your order. It fills you up perfectly, the food tastes good, the service is beyond quick and it is affordable. So there is not much more to ask for when it comes to Jimmy John's. Also, they deliver so that is an extra plus. read more

The food was great, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant. It was a little cold inside, but it was mid-morning in November, and a little gas station-like to have to request a key to use the restroom, but it is dahntahn Pittsburgh. We'll definitely be trying the one in Cranberry, which is closer to home. read more

Ordered The Veggie without tomato. This was my first visit to Jimmy John's. It was the weakest sandwich I've ever eaten. Only had shredded lettuce, a few slices of cucumber and 2 slices of paper thin white cheese. It was supposed to have avocado spread on it, which it did not! If I hadn't ordered it to go, I would have demanded my money back. Do yourself a favor -- go to Subway. read more
