Very good sandwiches and fast service but why do they refuse to cut my sandwich in half? I ask and every time they don't do it!

The lunch options are only served from 11-4. Besides coffee, they have wine, beer, pop, and kambucha. I got the masala chai, which was nice and not overly sweet. For meal I got the hippie ki yay, and I enjoyed that flatbread, it is vegan. The spinach dip is also good but different than what you'd expect. It is not too creamy and has a little tangy taste. But I liked that a lot, so I enjoyed it. The ambiance is lively and energetic. There's a lot of seating available, and different types including a massive couch. It is noisy in there with everyone talking, but I dont think its too bad if you want to study there. They do have a stage where they have bands perform, they also have trivia nights. I hope to check out one of the trivia nights. There is a decent size parking lot in the back. This parking lot was filled on a Tuesday night, so its definitely a spot to go and check out. This is one of the best places I have been to in GR! Highly recommend it!!

We were on the SW of town and thought we would try someplace new. We will now find a reason to go here again.

And by god, was I impressed. It's a small little sandwich shop off of Michigan Ave that has seating for maaaybe 20 people. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich to go, and when I got home to open my box, my jaw dropped. These guys put not one, but TWO mf chicken breast cutlets on this poor, poor bun. Topped with delicious house made pickles (their namesake), a fresh and tangly slaw, and a spicy oily sauce, this thing was a behemoth. And for, like, $15?? This is two meals for the average person. My only complaint was that the bun simply could not shoulder the monstrous burden of what it contained. Additionally, dude the fries are phenomenal. And they absolutely LOAD you up. Get the truffle upcharge, it's worth it I promise. I have been a Two Beards fan for the better part of the past 15 years, but man, in terms of value, The Toasted Pickle takes the cake. I can't wait to experience whatever else these guys are whipping up behind the counter.

We decided to get our order to go. The restaurant was clean. The service was fast. We tried a couple of the sandwiches that had turkey - Long Tall Sally and Sixie from Dixie. Both sandwiches were stuffed with plenty of meat. One was on the gluten free bread. And the bread actually had good flavor but was literally dripping with butter. Way too much butter. The other sandwich had no issues and was delicious as usual. The pickles were all very soggy and not that great this time. Overall, they were great! It was our first time trying the gluten free bread but next time I would tell them to lighten up on the butter. Otherwise, I will be coming back to try more. I am glad they came to Grand Rapids.

I came in around 5:30 to pick up some banh mi for dinner. I think bc of the time, the bread must have been stale from when they baked it in the morning... to give you an idea, I didn't have them toast it, and when I ate it in the car on the drive home, it was crumbly, there were big pieces of crumbs everywhere. The meat portion was also little in comparison to the baguette. I also got a few snacks from the fridge: the coconut jelly, flan, and yogurt. The coconut jelly was bad, the white part (coconut milk gelatin) had gone sour. The clear part was still good - which I took a chance at bc it was $5... The flan did not taste fresh, the texture was that of a yogurt that had solidified and kind of liquidy... The yogurt was actually good, probably bc yogurt can't go bad... I also got the banh cuon and com chay, both of those were fortunately good. However the com chay container was stapled shut on multiple sides which made it a pain to open with the risk of the staples also landing in the com chay. Overall, I get that Vietnamese food might be scarce in the GR area, but quality was really lacking and if you had not had banh mi in a major metro area, you wouldn't know any better... I didn't come back and probably won't...

I stopped in recently and got a couple of bánh mì and some gỏi cuốn tôm (shrimp summer rolls). There is a kiosk where you can order, which makes it easy as it has photos and you can tap to pay. If you need a receipt, be sure to ask at the counter, as the machine didn't print me one. It only took a few minutes to get our order and we got to watch the employee assemble our tasty sandwiches. I got the bánh mì Đặc biệt (special combination) and Nate ordered the bánh mì thịt nướng (BBQ pork). The bánh mì are still my favorite in town, with perfectly crispy yet soft bread, fresh veggies and herbs, and delicious meat. The BBQ pork was my favorite this time, even though I always order the special combination. The summer rolls were refreshing and we love the dipping sauce.

I was quoted $13.99, but unfortunately charged over $16! It wasn't until I looked at my texted receipt that I noticed I was overcharged for half a sub instead of a quarter. Bummer. I went "rogue" with my sub where they turn the sub inside out, rub oil on it and grill it like a panini. It was good and worth the $.75 upgrade. Overall, the quality is good. I like the many mayonnaise and mustard options. Veggies tasted fresh. It's just a let down to pay so much for so little. For the same price I could sit down and have entire meal at The Winn that would be much larger (granted, I didn't get half the sub I paid for). The potato soup was okay. Not as good as Red Lobster's potato bacon. Just kinda a one note salty flavor. I probably wouldn't get that again. If I do decide to return, I might just get a huge sub for $15-16 and split it amongst my family. That was the highlight of the meal. Good meats, fresh veggies, inventive presentation with the rogue option and I enjoyed the mayonnaise Provence for some extra herbs. Next time, I'll inquire when I feel the price is too much. Oh well.
