This place is simple and so effective. Meals are cheap and stick to the basics. It's definitely got a very rustic vibe and getting a seat can be cumbersome with the small space. But if you manage to get a seat, it's a great time! CASH ONLY! A good thing to know going in :)

As the other reviews say. This is no frills. It's a local greasy spoon walking distance from the capitol. They serve all day breakfast at reasonable prices. They are also cash only. I came in during lunch on a Friday and missed a huge rush *thankfully. Seating is limited and first come first serve. The food was fine. Bland, Nothing special. I think that's also people's allure. I'll stick with Maury and Paul's in Brookland for my pancakes.

Historical diner with affordable pricing . Went on a weekend was the 1st customer. Got pretty busy within 15 mins of opening. Food was good for the price. Placed a double order to fill me up. Definitely worth trying out.

I really don't get the appeal. It's like going to someone's house and sitting at a super small table and getting cheap food that tastes pretty basic. I guess if you're looking for a homey vibe and are a regular, maybe?? But no reservations, cash only, no menus (just up on the whiteboard, hard to read), and so crowded that it's difficult to move around...not for me. I will say, however, the service is fantastic. The staff is wonderful. It's so small, in an old row home, and there's only a few folks working and they do a great job. But, the atmosphere and food is not something I would go back for...especially with so many amazing options close.

What a little hidden gem! Cute spot that's cash only. I love all the random decor. They have a solid menu, no frills, exactly how I like it. The staff are all very friendly and the chef even made sure we were happy with our breakfast. I had the French toast, sausage, and egg combo. It was exactly what I needed and hit the spot.

Solid breakfast at a great price. Definitely a no frills place but it's worth a try if you're in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. I visited on a rainy Saturday around 1pm and there was a steady stream of customers. I ordered the egg, pancake, and sausage plate for $7.95 I think! It was good. I would definitely go back.

    Flat biscuit and gravy

Cash only, coffee served in paper cup and 45 mins wait to get mediocre biscuits and gravy. Not worth the 30 min wait to get table.

The food was so good I forgot to take a picture and after about 2 mins our plates were clean. There was a wait as only three people are working (their ass off ) and it was entirely worth it. Kyle was our waiter and he was super attentive as he waited on the entire place. Absolute nostalgia when we entered the restaurant. Highly recommended

    Price is right

I give this place 5 stars. I love old school diners. Family run since the late 60s. Has some charm and character. Family working hard to deliver great food and service. Cash only and be ready to wait a few minutes if busy. If you are wanting a fine dining experience move on. Glad I found this place and hopefully will come back again.

Plain food and small portions for the cost. Disappointed. Nothing special. Go for the ambiance, not the food.

I've been on a shakshuka kick lately, so I opted for the the Sweet Potato Shakshuka, which is described as: Sweet Potato Curry, with Chickpeas and Sunny Eggs with a the chicken add-on - gotta get that protein in, after all. This was one of the most unique shakshukas I'd ever had... It literally tasted like a curry dish you might get at your local Indian restaurant, with a bit of a brunch flair to it. The curry itself had a wee bit of spice and was a bit sweet - but that could have been from the sweet potatoes. The chicken was served in a bowl on the side, which felt a bit... odd... I would've expected it to be incorporated into the main dish. It was kind of bland and a bit lukewarm, so I don't know that I'd order that again... but I would definitely order this again!

I ordered the pancake stack, which is the main reason I keep coming back. The pancakes are consistently delicious and come with eggs, hash browns, and your choice of meat. My meal included scrambled eggs (it was just one egg ), hash browns that needed a little seasoning, and bacon that looked undercooked for my taste. My waiter was friendly and attentive. When I mentioned that I prefer my bacon crispy, he was happy to take it back. It seemed like they simply put the same bacon back on the flat top, so it still wasn't quite what I was hoping for, but I appreciated his willingness to help. My friend ordered the fish and chips. The steak fries were really good, but the fish itself was just okay. Overall, I know every restaurant has an off day, and this experience won't keep me from coming back. The pancakes are still worth the visit. Next time, I'll be a little more specific about my preferences from the start.

She gave us some menus, some glasses of water, and also told us some things about the menu. We saw that they had a bottomless brunch option that allowed us to get bottomless mimosas or margaritas until 4 PM. We both decide to go with margaritas. For an appetizer, we ordered the PICKLING + MD BAY SEASONED WINGS , which were absolutely amazing! The hot honey really brought out so much flavor in the wings. For entrées, my wife ordered the super lump crab cake omelette, and I ordered the hanger steak and eggs. My wife's omelette was full of crab and was amazing! My steak was seasoned very well and was flavorful! Both of our entrees came with circle hash browns similar to Chick Fil A's which are my favorite! The food was absolutely delicious! The bartender made sure we got our money's worth and constantly refilled our margaritas whenever they got low. We ended up having about 6 margaritas each. This was an amazing brunch deal. Overall, it was slightly worse than the diner downstairs. The food quality wasn't worth the price, which was unfortunate as we were looking forward to visiting Social for a while and finally went on a birthday. The ambiance is nice and chill but the tables are a little too high for the seats. We got the queso fresco pretzels, wagyu sliders, five napkin chicken sandwich, lobster lobster lobster pasta, flourles chocolate cake, and churros. The best bite was the bacon ricotta flatbread. The lobster pasta sauce was underwhelming and the desserts both tasted off. Service was friendly enough, but the experience still was a disappointment overall.

My only note for improvement would be the timing of when the food is brought out to the table. Another area for improvement was the frequency in which the waiter checked our table, especially since we had bottomless mimosas.
