These five stars are well deserved. My friend and I wandered in here and found something magical. Inside this narrow space was juuuust enough room for the long bar with maybe two feet to spare for people to stand behind you. It was dim, the walls, every square inch, covered by vintage photos and neon juke box towards the back. It was the atmosphere, it was as low key and humble as you could get. It was everything Times Square ex is not. I felt truely like I was somewhere else. When we took our seats in the middle of the bar the locals started chatting us up. They know they have something special there and they wanted to know how we knew. But there were others who had found out to like Martha on the right of me who was holiday from London. The first question we asked if it was happy hour? "It's always happy hour in here!!!" the whole bar chimed. And indeed, our bartender Mike threw down two cranberry and vodkas and said 7.50. Aye, this is hands down my favorite bar in NYC, possibly even my favorite bar anywhere in the U.S.! Borderline shocking that in 2022 you can find a low-key dive bar in the heart of NYC's Time Square but here it is. I've been coming to this bar for years, making it a point to stop by after boxing events I attend a few times a year at Madison Square Garden down the street. Jimmy's Corner is a small dive bar but nearly always packed at nights due in large part to its fun atmosphere and dive bar drink prices, which are almost certainly around the cheapest Times Square will have to offer. The bar was opened a little over 50 years ago by Jimmy Glenn, a former boxing cutman/trainer who'd worked alongside the likes of several famous boxers, including the great Muhammad Ali. (The bar is littered with boxing pictures and other memorabilia, including pictures of Jimmy posing with Ali.) Jimmy, who regularly hung out in the bar chatting it up with customers, passed away nearly two years ago due to COVID. Recently, one of his sons quit his job as a lawyer to run the bar in his place. Old school bar with old school charm and drink prices that can't be beat - recommend checking it out if you're in the area. Like many NYC bars, this spot is open until 4 am every day of the week. Jimmy's is a popular bar with locals and was even featured on The Kelly Clarkson Show shortly after Jimmy's son decided to take over. Given the bar's association with boxing, boxing fans and insiders are knows to frequent the place after big fights in NYC (most commonly held at Madison Square Garden). Several boxing writers frequent the bar and Jim Lampley (former HBO boxing play-by-play commentator) would stop by after most of the fights he worked in NYC to pay respects to Jimmy (have seen Lampley in the bar a couple of times myself). One downside to this spot is they don't serve food... so if you're looking for grub with your drinks try another joint. But whether you're a boxing fan or not, if you can appreciate old school dive bars with cheap prices, this is definitely a spot to check out! read more

Whitney was amazing and provided exceptional service. Coming from California and just wanting a drink for a night cap was perfect and very inexpensive. Super chill spot. Visited with my husband and our family from out of town. Everyone enjoyed their drinks. Gets crowded in here- but that often happens when you find a good bar. They checked our ID and vaccine cards. Everyone was pleasant and friendly. We visited before heading to see the Phantom of the Opera to we were there about 30-40 mins. The Asian girl that works there was the worst person we interacted with in New York and we had tons of interactions with drunk homeless people. We (2)went to sit at the only free table. Then we were idiots because a table finally left and another group went and sat at the smaller table right away. We offered to switch but they said no. Well Ms Rude came over for a 3rd time (no hi, drinks order taken, just moved 1 chair) and ordered us to all move. Then proceeded to go the bar and say we were dumb and slow for not sitting at the smaller table. Place is small, so not many seating options. I'm a fan of small, local, hole in the wall type bars and this one fit the bill.. both figuratively and realistically. You can't find a cheaper alcoholic beverage in NYC. Beers were $4, mixed drinks were about $6. This fun family owned establishment has a ton of history on the walls! Definitely seems to be a locals hang out, but we were welcomed in! I stumbled across Jimmy's Corner while some friends were in town for work. I do not frequent this area of Manhattan so I decided to let them find a place that they felt were suiting for them. Upon entering, the bar is quite small and not much standing room between the bar and the wall. Considering that we had just finished dinner and I wasn't going to be out long, I did not want to order a beverage. However, the bartender stated that I had to order something. (Pardon?) In response to that, I was going to depart and call it a night, but my friends ended up ordering 2 drinks for themselves to consume for the time being in which that excused me for having to order a drink. That completely turned me off along with the staff not really being friendly or personable. I personally would not go out of my way to visit Jimmy's Corner and obvs there are much better bars in the city with friendlier staff, better vibes, and better pricing. read more

We had just arrived in NYC and my hotel room had a bird's eye view of Jimmy's Corner. A quick Yelp check revealed that Jimmy's is a dive bar, serving good cheap cocktails, has a boxing theme, and a decent jukebox. Off we go! How can you beat a $5 Titos and club soda in Times Square? You can't. My second cocktail was a double for 10 bucks that was really a triple. Be aware this is a shotgun dive bar so you may have to stand while drinking or elbow your way to the bar to order. It appears that it's shot time all the time here so folks are pretty lit but very friendly. Pro tip: Don't mess with the jukebox. While we were there some miscreant Maxed the volume and the bartender pulled the plug and refused to serve drinks until the guilty party fessed up. Luckily we were done. read more

It was great. There were locals who seemed to be always at the bar, and they got to calling me "The California Kid". I was recently out of the Marine Corps. I liked the place. Sometimes, Jimmy was working the door. At that time, people from Poland seemed to be an immigrant group to NYC, and they were working at the bar. Where can you get a drink for three bucks in the heart of Times Square? At Jimmy's Corner, which just might be Times Square's best kept secret. I came here with co-workers on a Friday night around 7, and happy hour was still going strong. The bartenders were attentive and the place is divey but not in a "I'm scared I might contract something from the toilets here" kind of way. Seriously though, I'm not over how cheap this place was. Where can you find a bar in NYC where you're actually struggling to meet the $10 credit card minimum? What most who was born here or lived here pre-Giuliani era wish it still were, or could be again. Come here to rock the coolest, most eclectic jukebox in the city. And if you don't buy all that, just come here because there's probably not another spot anywhere in the city - much less Midtown - where you can get a pint or a decent drink for no more than $3.50-$5 a pop. If you want a relaxed neighborhood style bar where you can play music on a jukebox, this is the place. You can drink seated at tables or at the bar.
