Overall good experience. We walked right in before the five o'clock rush and got to work eating. Place was crowded which led to fast food turnover. All the food was hot and good. Multiple varieties of crab. All were outstanding except the Blue Crab who's meat did not survive the cook, turned to mush..a good variety of food for the kiddies and non-seafood lovers in the group. This is definately not a fine dining experience but a good seafood feeding frenzy! Note that the wait time had increased to 90 minutes as we were leaving. If you love Alaskan crab legs and hush puppies, you are in for a treat. Otherwise, much of the food is so so. Our kids loved the mini corn dogs and crab legs, so overall we got our money's worth and it was a fun experience. I personally did not care for the desserts, crab cakes and fish, so don't waste your time with those. Came in the off season for the buffet. We had snow crab, mahi mahi, but didn't see any of the Saturday lobster. (I also didn't ask because I was ravenously eating crab) Everything tasted amazing, but they lose a star for not having the lobster. It's also kind of dingy but the atmosphere was nice. Lots of choices & nothing too fancy! I was determined to sample primarily seafood... mission accomplished! We went on "free whole lobster night," and the lobster was great. The Alaskan snow crab legs were jumbo, very plentiful & steamed just rite! They also had snow crab claws, yum!!! The whole blue claw crabs were huge but I didn't make it past the 1st one because I think it was sitting way to long in the broth so it became mush. The salad bar was pretty fresh, nice greens & other salad fixin's! I didn't try much of anything else there since I was in the market for lobster & crabs however, I decided to try the crab bisque. I was a bit hesitant to try it when I first saw it but I'm happy I did, it was very good! It's been a while since I had such good crab bisque! Service was good. Our server was funny & friendly as were a few of the other servers. The only thing I didn't care for, other than the 1 mushy blue crab, we're all the rude, unfriendly foreigners they had working there. I realize this is the time of year that all of the beach towns bring these people over here on summer work visas. But they suck... what's the point?! I noticed them standing around doing nothing while all the full timers were busy at work. Needless to stay when I asked one of them a question they had no idea what I was saying nor did they seem to care. This is for any Bariatric Surgical patients. If you are not a Bariatric patient this does not apply to you. I was vacationing at OBX with a large group of people who wanted to come to this establishment. I asked them if they would be willing to honor my surgical card (which I rarely use, but wasn't going to pay $35 for a buffet when I eat about the same amount as my 2 year old eats). I was told they would not accommodate me. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told she wouldn't be "down" for another 30 min. Then I was told I could order off the menu which is still $15.99 for anything decent. After 30 mins the manager came over and said there was no way to take a "discount" off of the buffet. So I drank water with lemon and went somewhere else after my party was done. It is sad that this establishment is so insensitive to the needs of others. ************************************************ In response to Liz. Your establishment is not accommodating to Bariatric patients. In order to order anything off your menu I still would have had to spend $15.99 plus tax; however my 2 year old could eat off the buffet for free. I am an adult an did not care to have chicken tenders for dinner nor did I ask for a free meal. I asked for a reduced price from the buffet. I actually would have paid $15.99 for that. You absolutely did not offer to allow me to choose items from the buffet and price them out. In fact you were adamant that it couldn't be done. Had you offered that option I would have taken it. We we're looking for a seafood restaurant in the area and found this place. Despite the mix reviews, we decided to try out this area. We came in on a Friday around 5pm and the place was already packed. We were seated and attended by our server very promptly. The food selection was very good. Our server explained the specials and was very friendly and cheerful. The seafood was great, fresh and delicious. The set up is very simple, old-fashioned but the food and price is worth it. If you love seafood and in around the area, come early to this place and you won't be disappointed. read more

The seafood buffet is expansive with several different types of crablegs to choose from as well as plenty of non seafood options. Got there just before 6pm on Sundays and they offered while steamed lobster. For $35 you can't beat it. Will definitely be back. read more

Do not get the buffet. Our group of 8 arrived to find the buffet picked over, cold, and unappetizing. Instead of clearing a dish that was obviously not going to be eaten, it was left out. The waiter serving us had a good attitude and was prompt in service. Overall, the service was decent, but the buffet was DEFINITELY not worth $30.00. This was the second time going to Jimmy's and it was a ok experience. The food was ok. Yes, there is a wide selection of seafood and other foods but it all just seems to be quickly made and then thrown in. They didn't bring out and new food until the containers were completely empty. For example they had about 3 buffalo chicken fingers left and our last round to get food and there was 1 left (about a hour later). You can tell no one wanted it because it looked dried out and disgusting from sitting under the heat lamp. The best part was the free lobster tail (with an adult Buffet purchase with coupon) but they cut it so far down the middle that the meat you literally have it in little pieces trying to pull it all out. It doesn't seem like 100 items but the do have a wide variety of foods. Service was good besides our waiter. It seemed like we were stuck with the guy who didn't want to be there compared to other waiters who loved what they do and interacted with the customers. I think we talked to one of the other waiters more then ours and he took our plates away and gave us refills on our drinks, the tip should have went to him. This is an excellent seafood buffet....if you are looking for crab legs, shrimp, clams etc. then this is your place. It really is a typical buffet establishment however the variety of crab legs alone is worth the trip. They have several desserts that would be graded as average but following the seafood feast it is really good...I give three stars because it is a buffet and no buffet in my opinion gets more that three stars...If you like seafood this is your place, if you don't go elsewhere. read more

Not impressed at all! Extremely overpriced and kind of a dive. They had big selection of food on buffet , but almost everything was deep fried so they could improve their selections that way. Bathrooms were filthy , floors were disgusting! Only two stalls in women's bathroom. Definitely needs updated. Rude waitress expected almost a $40 tip and only brought us water. Lobster was too tough to eat and they didn't keep buffet restocked very well . Walk ways were set up to tight. Food was cold but their peanut butter pie was awesome! The prices for kids is ridiculous and they are really over priced . I expected a much nicer place wth better food not just okay food and filthy restaurant! We drove 2 hours for this place with 4 year old son to eat lonsters. Today was the 3rd time we visit the restaurant this summer. They used to charge $5+kid's age. So we started eating lobsters and fed our son lobsters. The server lady came to us and told us that we could not feed lobsters to our son if we do not pay a full adult price. We have never heard about that policy nor paid a full price for our son. So we asked a server to talk with a manager in charge. And the server told us that the owner is busy. We kept asking to see the owner if she is available, but we could not see the owner until we left the restaurant. The server told the owner was busy and it was policy there is nothing to talk about. We kept asking the server to bring the owner, but we could not have a chance to see the owner. I wish the manager or owner explains and handles about the situation like this. I have never experienced the manager refuse to see guests at restaurants. It is very unpleasant experience and we will not go back to this place or recommend to friends. read more

We drove about 45 mins from our beach house to eat at this seafood restaurant. Reading reviews we were a bit hesitant and had low expectations but it was a very good experience. There were three sets of cornhole boards, outside beer bar with $3 beers, inside bar with $10 specialty drinks, and live music up on the deck to help pass the waiting time. We were the only ones on the deck during live music so it was a lot of fun giving song requests and singing/dancing/drinking with our party of 9. The almond drink was DELICIOUS!!! We arrived around 7pm and sat around 8pm. (They stop taking names at 9pm) It was busy but I was expecting tight quarters inside like the reviews mentioned. It wasn't as bad as I imagined and I could maneuver to the bar and back outside without any difficulty. Since it was later the weather outside was nice and had a cool breeze. Inside, it was decent but I can see where during the peak temperatures it would get very hot and uncomfortable so be sure to time things out. Staff was friendly! I wish I would have bought a funny Jimmy's t-shirt. There was a HUGE variety of seafood & American food in the buffet. A fresh salad bar to go with all of the fresh seafood. I can't begin to name all of the seafood. We did try shark for the first time. The blackened tuna was one of my favorites and the snow crab. You could also order steak and they grill it to order. It was worth the trip to enjoy seafood at a decent price. $35 adults. $15 children. read more

Very pricey for the quality of food. It was unbearably hot in the restaurant, made you not want to finish eating. The margarita was made with super bitter mix as well. Overall there was a wide selection of food, but we were too sweaty to enjoy any of it. They brought out tiny floor fans, but they did nothing as they left them on low. Steamed crab legs were Perfect! Everything else's was horrible. The place was dirty the food selection was not good. What was there seemed old and cheap. The soda was all carbonation and when I said something to the waitress she did nothing about it at all. It was way over priced for what you had to choose from. We went on Sunday so you got a free whole lobster. One of them looked like it was bad and inedible while the other one was rubber. We had high hopes but the only thing we really enjoyed here were the snow crab legs, steamed shrimp and fried calamari. The rest of the buffet was relatively flavorless, and didn't taste fresh. The blue crab was flat out inedible & awful (and we love crab) - the meat was so watery it was nearly liquid. The Argentinian crab legs were dry and leathery. The restaurant is so crowded it feels like a fire hazard; the bathroom is so tight, if someone is at the sink, you can barely open the door, and it was filthy and smelly. The entry looks like they want to sell souvenirs but was just boxes of cheap toys on the floor. The wait staff was rushed and unkempt. Agreed that I don't get all the bad reviews. You're at a buffet people, cooking on a large scale with the turnover they have had trade offs. You're not getting gourmet but it's not horrible. 4 stars based on value. Where else can I eat 5 lobsters? Understand that cooking that many lobsters together, some will get cooked more than others. Before today, I would have given this place 4 stars. My family and I have eaten here several times over the past few years, and we were usually very happy with it. Unfortunately, I had an experience today that left my kids and I very upset, and my wallet a lot lighter, and we will never eat at this restaurant again. This is a real bummer, because we had such a favorable view of it before, and it was something we looked forward to each time we came to the Outer Banks. Lesson learned: If you go with a group and do not pay for the buffet, *do not sample anybody else's food*! They will charge you for a full adult buffet if they catch you, and apparently they keep a close eye on everyone. This policy is strictly enforced, and not negotiable in any way, regardless of the quality or quantity of food you eat. I went with my 3 kids, and was just there to help them crack crab legs and so forth. I got busted eating my kids' garbage, and was treated like a common criminal without the slightest warning. I wasn't trying to steal food or cheat, I just hate to see food thrown away. I talked to a manager, but he would not budge on the $29 penalty (I did break a rule, so I would have been more than willing to pay for an extra kids buffet or something), and he even threatened to call the cops. This meal turned into a horrible experience for my 3 kids and I, and was a terrible way to end our fun vacation. Here are several useful facts: - Seating is tight, which makes it challenging weaving between other patrons to get to and from the buffet. - The buffet price for kids ages 1-15 is their age plus $2; for adults, it's $28.95. - If you sit at the bar, you get $1 off your meal (kids included). The bartenders are very friendly and on take good care of you! - The Russian snow crab legs are the easiest to crack and get good, large chunks of crab meat out of, but the Dungeness are tastier and the King crab legs are the tastiest (but also the most stabby/painful to crack). - The melted butter is sometimes great/normal, but other days it isn't so great. One time, a couple years ago, I couldn't stand the flavor of the butter, which made that visit a bit disappointing (how you can you eat crab legs without melted butter?!) - While you wait for a table (sometimes a VERY long wait), they have free activities out back. For adults (and kids) there is cornhole (beanbag toss), for kids there is a small miniature golf green, for young kids there are pony rides, and sometimes they have a clown who does an *amazing* job making balloon animals! - It might be useful to call ahead. I'm not sure how they handle it if you make a reservation and then arrive to find a ton of people waiting for a table. I *think* your reservation does not get you seated immediately, but does get you priority seating when an appropriately-sized table does become available. read more

This is an amazing place to eat. The staff is friendly. The food is to die for. They have so many different types of seafood cooked in various ways. There is also a salad bar, desert bar, and tons of food that kids who aren't fans of seafood can get.
