Jim's Deli is nothing glamorous, a very laid back take out type restaurant. The food is always homemade, fresh and they have so much to choose from. The breakfast is a great deal and I love the wraps. They give good portions and I never walk out of there hungry or unsatisfied. It is cafeteria slight style - no table service. I enjoy grabbing a dinner here, for the price (about $12) you get a portion enough for at least two meals sometimes three. The roast with Mac and cheese is my go to plate. Even the sandwiches are a sharing size or pms quota :) Jim's is run by a family and you can usually catch one of the brothers on the line cooking and mom at the register. To each their own. I finally got around to eating here a few months back by using one of those delivery services like door dash or whatever it was. The food was alright, not as amazing as I thought it would be. I was kind of irked at the Hash I purchased because I know Hash and its one of my favorite foods when done right, I saw pictures on yelp and thought wow that looks really good. I paid I think around 5 dollars for it (a side dish) and what came was Hormel hash in a Can. Not what I saw pictured... Just half a cans worth. I thought to myself wow I could have went to the grocery store and paid under 2 bucks for this and got an entire can. This was not what I saw advertised. What a fun place. Huge menu and there are many regulars as Jim knew peoples names as they walked in. The tuna was so so but with the hot sauce and pickles it was good. You start off by grabbing a tray, then telling the cook your order, then getting your food, then sitting down. The portions are HUGE. like. legit food baby afterwards....with leftovers still. Fusion wrap: When I read that there was fried onions inside this wrap I didn't think that it meant onion rings. Very pleasant surprise, and this was so delicious. It came with chicken, roasted peppers, and the onion rings. If you're feeling like you want something on the lighter side don't get this, but if you want something super tasty and filling, def try this one! Chicken deluxe wrap: Yum this is good too, with pieces of chicken cutlet, lettuce, tomato, and this really good sauce inside. Definitely lighter than the fusion wrap. Buffalo Chicken Mac n Cheese: ugh the flavor of this is sooo good. WTF? What haven't I reviewed Jim's? I used to go here ALL THE TIME with "the Ex." And I've been a few times since... sure, the food's great, but what really works here is the efficiency. On a busy day you just get in line. Sure, all the tables are filled, but don't worry about that now. You're in line. You order your food cafeteria style and they make it while you move down the line. Jim's mom who works at the cash register is the best. If you've never been there before, here are some things you should know: The menu is HUGE. You might want to stand near the line, not in the line before getting into it unless you can look at the menu quickly and figure out what you want. The lines are long, but you won't wait long. It's served cafeteria style, so make sure you get your try and silverware before getting in line. A line cook will ask what you want and cook it right there for you. Depending on what you want, you MIGHT wait a while for it. But it's fresh! They serve coke products (always a good thing to know in my opinion!) After visiting Jim's during a few excursions to Boston, I was finally convinced to make the move to Beantown to be closer to my favorite deli. Ok, there might have been a few other reasons for the move, but Jim's is really out of this world. Every time I come here, masses of hungover college kids stumble through the doors. I don't know how they do it, but Jim and co get through those lines like bausses. So don't get intimidated by the line; it moves quickly. You must try the corned beef hash. I get the eggs over easy, pop the runny yolk on top, and savor every bite of that gooey, crispy, salty goodness. The breakfast burrito is also excellent and their sandwiches are good as well. Prices are fair and I've never had a trouble finding seating as most people get takeout. Even after moving to Boston, I wish I lived a little closer to Jim's. I first got introduced to Jim's Deli because one of my friends lived around the area. He told me that he had the most amazing Texas Reuben Sandwich at this place and that I needed to give this place a try immediately. At first I thought he was just hyping it up and over exaggerating. So I decided to give it a try myself. I went ahead and ordered the Texas Reuben Sandwich. Just to let you know, this sandwich isn't listed on the menu. It's a special sandwich that you have to ask for. I watched one of the Mexican guys cut the meat. It looked so fatty and juicy. Next, they put the sandwich together. Jalapeno poppers, cole slaw, juicy meat, and top it off with Russian dressing. It also comes with fries. When I first took a bite of this sandwich, I felt like heavens opened up. The combination of that meat added with that sweet taste of cole slaw, swept up by the overpowering taste of jalapeno poppers and then the Russian dressing....wow.
