The restaurant is spaced out complying with covid regulations, the wait was about 2 minutes and then we were sat which was awesome for a busy Saturday morning. The waitress recommended the banana nut coffee cake and I'm so glad she did, it was the most perfect warm ooey gooey breakfast starter. So yummy! I ordered a make your own frittata and my spouse ordered the cinnamon Texas French toast. The food came out so quickly and it was so delicious that I forgot to snap a picture of it. They're alright. Very average diner breakfast food. Waffles are lame and full of air, not at all dense. Stick to pancakes, and standard egg, meat, toast, kind of breakfasts if you go here. French toast looked pretty good but I didn't have any. Place seams clean and the food came out fairly quickly but I don't know where on earth these 4 and 5 star reviews came from... Who is rating this 4 and 5 stars? Even if you were just rating against other places that serve breakfast they aren't all that LOL. Jim's is the best diner in Rochester. Such insanely fast and friendly service, fantastic prices, and an overall warm and inviting place to be. We had coffee and waters within like 10 seconds of sitting down. The Late Riser breakfast is my go-to. Two eggs cooked your way, choice of bacon, sausage, or ham, choice of home fries or hash browns, and choice of toast! It's small, but we've never had to wait when we go on the weekdays. I loved Jim's on Winton Road before it closed. All my favorites are here, in a nice location, with much more space. Service is as friendly as ever, and all my favorite breakfast items are on the extensive menu. Jim's on Main is the best version of your typical American breakfast diner: good food, friendly, fast service. We're big fans of basically anything we've ordered (eggs benedict is definitely worth it), and the family atmosphere is great. If you show up when everyone else also wants breakfast, you're probably going to wait, but maybe not that long if you're okay with seats at the counter (we always are). We have had a few close scrapes when we've forgotten that they're cash only. I get it, but it's a hard thing in 2017 when so many people only carry cards. read more

The one thing saving this review from 3 stars is the great staff and super speedy service. I went with a group today for breakfast. It was pretty standard breakfast. Really nothing too outstanding from the average. My omlette came out to what I consider under-cooked (eggs still runny... in an omlette? Yeah.... weird). I asked for them to throw it back on the grill and they were happy to do so. The omlette was the bypass, which was ham, sausage, and bacon. The bacon wasn't really cooked much but the sausage had great flavor. And ham is just ham, always. The coffee was actually pretty palatable for a diner. I enjoyed my cup. They did not offer any flavor options, so I believe they just have a standard medium-roast coffee. Other people in my group got pancakes, hash browns, and the french bread french toast. The pancakes looked suuuuuper fluffy and buttery, cooked to the ultimate perfection. The hash browns were the standard diner hash browns (shredded crispy fried), but they also serve home fries which are your standard diced fresh potato (not the frozen deep fried ones). The french bread french toast was a very small serving (she asked for a short stack) - literally just two diagonal slices of french bread, but only $3!!! Keep in mind that Jim's is CASH ONLY!! I forgot. Thank god the rest of my party saved me or maybe I would be posting this from jail. The service is super great and speedy. Consistent coffee refills. Very attentive staff. We sit down after this place was recommended to us, order our food. There's this giant TV on the wall. No Sports. No neutral renovation show. Nope. There's a story blaring on "why unions are ruining America." We had just sipped our coffee. The guy on the tv were calling us communists. We are not anything near that. We work hard & our local negotiates our wages & benefits. We didn't walk out. We didn't want to assume the waitress hated us. Maybe it is her boss or the owner who hates us. But, we felt hated & unwelcome. And we ain't snowflakes. The station was Newsmax. I'd never seen it. It was more propaganda than I'd ever seen. Bunch of hate and made up crap. Our food was fine. I have visited Jim's a few times, when it comes to restaurants I have been wanting to give them a couple tries before writing a review. Each time that I have been there has been a wait. Yes, it is a busy place and yes it may be a bit to get a table. My longest wait was about 25 minutes; however, my friends and I still had great service from Laura and were served in a timely matter. I have eaten their fruit pancakes, french toast, omelettes and the "calysta" sandwich. All of which were delicious! This is a CASH ONLY restaurant, there is an ATM there for your needs. Prices are very reasonable for breakfast and lunch. There is no parking lot, so unfortunately you have to park in the street. My wife approves and if we are coming into the city on a Saturday morning she always asks me to take her there. read more

They gave great suggestions and were very interested in finding out where my friend and I were from and why we were passing through Rochester. Per their suggestion, I got the Eggs Benedict and it did not disappoint. I couldn't say I'd ever had Eggs Benedict before and I'm glad I tried it. They were terrific! Since we were from out of town, one of the ladies was generous enough to give us a slice of banana chocolate chip coffee cake on the house and boy oh boy was it to die for! Got here at 9 AM on a Sunday morning, it was already pretty busy but we got a table right away! The staff was super nice and someone came over to take our drink order within a few minutes. Food came out super quick and everyone in my family cleared their plates. You can tell that the staff works hard to try to clear tables as quick as possible to seat more customers. Stopped in for an early morning breakfast. Our waitress was the owner and very pleasant. Prices are reasonable, and there was a good variety of selections to choose from. But sad to say it wasn't the best I've had in Rochester by a long shot. We ordered the two egg and pancake with bacon. The poached eggs and pancake were yummy. Poached eggs cooked perfectly and arrived hot! Pancake we a nice size for sure and was fluffy. The coffee was weak , so I didn't even finish my one cup . Also they use some sort of imitation shortening/butter which was flavorless and really put us off from enjoying our meal as it was used on toast, bagel and pancake. This was a great find. We were traveling from out of town and we're in need of a good breakfast joint as an escape from the typical hotel breakfast. So glad we stumbled upon Jim's. It is a family run establishment where we were greeted with warm smiles and good fresh coffee. All of your typical breakfast fare made fresh to order with a few nice twists. Fresh warm coffee cake was great. I had a wonderful omelette with peppers, onions, mushrooms, and swiss cheese called the MOPS omelette. My son who is a breakfast eater wanted waffles and eggs which they abliged as they made him a half order fresh waffle topped with chocolate chips and a side of scrambled eggs. My wife had hash toped with two sunny side eggs. If you like hot sauce ask for the homemade "Hot Meat Sauce." It made my omelette that much better. Food, drink, gratuity, and tax were less than $30 for the three of us to eat breakfast. Back at home in Westchester County this would be between $40-$50 so it was a great value. This diner isn't my favorite in Rochester but it's a bit too clean for my taste. I'm a big fan of sticky floors, screaming waitresses who smell like cigarettes and cooks that look like felons. This place has none of that and if that's more your thing, check out Mark's Texas Hots *my favorite*. However, if you're looking for an alcohol free brunch and let's be honest... why? Definitely check this place out. The food is everything you would expect at a diner but amazingly affordable. There aren't any large tables to put together so it's definitely a four or less kind of joint but they've got a great bar and you really cannot beat it for the price. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and wasn't too impressed but my partner ordered pancakes and still won't shut up about them. I swear to god, it's been weeks. I don't know how to get him off of them, I'm starting to think he has a thing for the cook. Unsure of the parking situation but on street isn't all that terrible and because it's midway through the five lane stretch, depending on the wait you can practice your Frogger skills. Their menu is really extensive and sometimes the wait gets insane but they don't take reservations, so maybe call ahead if you're not too hungover to use the phone. Was hoping this place was going to blow me away, but it fell short a little bit. Parking is a little bit tricky, I ended up parking in the theater parking lot next door, not sure if that's allowed but nevertheless, that's where I went. We had a group of three and at 10:50 am on a Sunday, we were told the wait would be 15 minutes. The place was crankin, lots of people waiting to be seated, happy people around us eating, busy is good, it means the food is good and worth the wait, so we continued to wait and wait and wait. 35 minutes later, I went up to the host stand to get an idea of how much longer the wait was going to be, only because one of the girls we were with had to catch a flight. The woman said, "I really don't know, people are sitting and eating and getting up when they want to." Right....then don't tell us 15 minutes when we first come in. Luckily we only had to wait another 10 minutes so the 15 minute wait became 45 and we got a booth near the entrance of the restaurant which was slightly annoying with the hustle and bustle of people waiting by the door and lined up by the host stand to pay for their bill. I really loved the way this place was decorated. Blown up, large photos of what I can only assume are family members of the owner scattered across the walls of the restaurant. It really had a welcoming vibe. The menu is very large, has something for everybody. It was an additional cost to add home fries or hash browns to your omelette which is why we were slightly annoyed when the waitress came over to take our order and when she went through the "what kind of bread do you want" spiel, she also asked which kind of potato we wanted. I didn't like that approach, at all. If potatoes are extra, say, "potatoes are extra did you want to add those to your omelette?" The answer is always going to be yes, but for people who don't know it's extra, it's not really the best way to "up-sell." For the individuals who actually look at their itemized bill at the end of their meal, it could cause a problem. I went with a vegetable omelette, made with egg whites and could add up to 4 vegetables, went with spinach, broccoli, peppers and onions. Dry rye toast on the side with home fries. My friends got french toast and an egg scramble. The omelette was nothing special and the potatoes were very bland, little to no seasoning so I really had to spice them up with some hot sauce. My friends, however, loved their french toast and said it was some of the best they ever had. 2 orders of French toast, an egg scramble, side of home fries, vegetable omelette, one coffee and one chocolate milk came to $28. Can't beat that for 3 people. Very affordable. Paying the bill was slightly annoying. First, there was no total on the bill so when I went up to the host stand and asked what the total was, she said she would have to calculate it at the register to add tax. Sure, no problem. This place is cash only too, so when my friends and I approached the counter with $20's we were taken back when the host said she couldn't make change for us. If you're a cash only restaurant, you've got to be able to make change for guests and be ready for them to have $50's and $100's in their wallets that need to be broken down. Eventually she was able to make change for us but we were a little surprised by that. It's a decent place to get breakfast but it was just alright for me. read more

Jim's on Main is a rare find! This place is affordable, centrally located and has amazing food. First and foremost, their hours are so convenient. My wife and I are early risers and it's often hard to find breakfast joints that open before 7am. Jim's has early hours, so we get to enjoy an early meal. We've had several of their breakfast foods and every meal has been great. Every day they make a homemade coffee cake and I would highly recommend trying it no matter what. The first time I came here they had a cherry coffee cake on the menu. I'm not a huge fan of cherry, so I was skeptical. But I tried it anyway, and I wasn't disappointed! The cake is always warmed up with butter on top and it was to die for. Now, every time I go, I never hesitate to order whatever coffee cake is on the menu. If you go, make sure to bring cash, they don't take credit. Sometimes space is an issue so I'd recommend getting there early on the weekend. Most of the parking is street parking, so just something to be aware of! Overall, AMAZING experience! Great food and great customer service for a reasonable price. Jim's is BACK!! In the place of Jim's 2, Jim's on Main is a great update to an old tradition. They've really added a nice pop to the old feel. The booths are comfy, food is very affordable, and the coffee cake is out of this world! Jim's on Main is larger than the old location, but still isn't large enough. The waiting area can get a little hairy, given that there really isn't one and you'll oftentimes have people standing next to your table if you're near the door. But honestly, that's one of the endearing qualities of this Rochester favorite! With a lot of new selections on the menu, more cyclical flow, specials on a very visible TV, the coffee is plenty, and the staff is great so you'll not loose the nostalgic feeling of old. Only odd thing I was somewhat confused by was the photos of random people on the wall, without explanation of who the people were. Definitely felt like I was at a Sears Photo Studio. Jim's will always have a place in my heart and I highly recommend both new and old clients to visit regularly. read more
