Boston Scrod, it's a big portion, most is hidden under the fries, DELICIOUS!

The absolute best seafood in the area. Highly recommended. Great service, great prices, you can't go wrong.

I visited Jim's with some friends after we had gone kayaking nearby. The owner was very pleasant and suggested we place a to-go order since we had a dog with us and were planning to eat outside. In total, there were 5 people ordering food. Unfortunately, we waited an hour for our food and when it arrived, it was underwhelming. The brussel sprouts were boiled and none of us wanted to eat them. The hush puppies were small, dry inside, and didn't have any crunch when biting into them. The flavor was decent, but couldn't save the dish. The fries were a little soggy due to the takeout container, but not bad overall. Our group had mixed reviews on the mashed potatoes, so I can't confidently speak to that. The green beans and catfish were good and the side order of fried clams was okay. The fried shrimp and salmon were also good. Overall, I wouldn't visit again.

Apparently Jim's Seafood has been around a very long time. In fact, I'm told my Great-Grandparents used to enjoy date night there. I hadn't been since middle-school, and now as a hungry 30-year-old, thought I'd give it a try during lunch. I was craving a good fish sandwich and I try to avoid fast-food, so I journeyed to the other side of town with hopes I could get there and back in an hour. Well, the view and the whitefish sandwich (with onion rings) were both fantastic. I can't give 5 stars as there were minor details missing in the service, but that fish sandwich was very good and the rye bread tasted like it might have been broiled with a bit of butter to toast it on one side. I may go back again this week. Edit: Went back with the hubby and he got the fried catfish (delicious) with brussel sprouts (so-so) and mashed potatoes (also so-so). I got the shrimp scampi which is served over wild rice. I have to say that the fried fish is still the star and I'll keep the review at 4 stars only for the fried fish and onion rings. Nothing else overly impressed me at this place. Advise to management: 1) Clean the windows, people come for the view. 2) remove the paper signs about lifting the blinds (it cheapens the place) 3) Refresh the recipe for the brussel sprouts, there are some great ones out there! 4) Recommended the fried fish! It's really the thing you do well.

Have you ever thought, "I'm hungry for food that's a little less delicious than I could make for myself?" Then this is the place for you. Literally no seasonings used in the production of my meal. I had grilled gulf shrimp (smallest I've ever seen) with broccoli and Brussel sprouts. Veggies were the kind you get for $1 in the Kroger frozen food section then steam in the bag. But at home I would have added butter and seasoning. Server came a total of two times. Once to take or order and once to bring the food. He never ever checked on us. We had to ask a manager for the bill. And the windows look as though no one has ever cleaned them ever. Gross.

Stoped in after tour of the Buffalo Trace Distillery. The location is next to Kentucky River lock 4 and visible from the restaurant and a plus. In the summer there is also outdoor seating next to the river and a view of the lock. + The exterior sign drew us in...its a keeper. + Food: onion rings; baked potato; coconut shrimp with Coleslaw. We didn't really get a dinner but the food was nice sized and filling.

I ordered the burger without the bun or fries, and it was so overly salty that I struggled to finish it. My wife had the CACIO de PEPE, which tasted quite different from what we're used to, and the pasta was overcooked for our liking. My brother-in-law ordered the fish tacos, which were easily the standout dish at the table. My sister's chicken cesar salad was decent but nothing particularly memorable. The restaurant itself feels a bit unexpected for a rural setting, which may help explain its strong ratings. For me, though, it's not a place I'd go out of my way to visit again--more of a "fine if someone else suggests it" kind of spot.

The atmosphere is super cozy and we felt welcomed from our first steps in. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and we met Michaela who took fabulous care of us for the evening! We settled in to a couple of their specialty cocktails (midwinters night dream and cardamaro manhattans - yummy I'll say) and the Brussel Sprout starter. Let me say to come hungry because the portions are large but yummy. The sprouts are a meal all by themselves! But there's more! I had the porcini rubbed filet and Teresa had the cabbage confit. Both portions were sizable and while I know she loved her cabbage, I was in heaven with a perfectly prepared filet that just melted in my mouth. Plus the asparagus spears and the Okinawa sweet potato mash were perfect accompaniment! Sadly, there was so much goodness we ended up bringing some home and we'll have to come back for dessert and another menu sampling. All in all a very memorable experience and a great place for a birthday dinner! But we'll be back just because! Special closing shout out to Michaela for taking such great care of us.

The dining room is set up to accommodate parties of two or four, all the way to large groups, with places for individuals at the bar. Table service is provided and our server was friendly. Hubby chose the Hot Brown with a side salad and I went for the liver and onions with mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, and gravy on the side for the livers. Hubby tries the Hot Brown at a lot of restaurants and said it was good. The liver was tender and tasty with the onions and gravy on the side, and the mashed potatoes and green beans were a good accompaniment. The portions were satisfying and neither of us had room for dessert. We were pleased with the experience, and with more items on the menu to try, we will be back.

We tried the chili dogs and fries, the fish sandwich special (which came with fries and slaw), and the chicken tenders appetizer. Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The fish sandwich was perfectly fried -- crisp on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside. Even the chicken tenders were standout. Portions were generous, prices were very reasonable, and the service was top-notch from start to finish. The staff was friendly, attentive, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. Bonus points for the fun UK basketball décor -- fans of the Cats will feel right at home. I chose to go with the wine paring and it was the right move!! The grounds are pretty with beautiful trees, flowers, and bushes. There are herbs and vegetables that are used in the dishes. I'm unsure when the Inn was built, but I love the sound of the wooden floors. The choice of curtains, wall decor and the hand painted mural was a nice touch. Alicia W provided exceptional service and was a joy to talk to. We tried the caviar and duck rilletes to share. The rilletes were the only thing we thought we could have done without. The duck is a bit rich and stringy and the bread really detracted from the dish - too hard and chewy. That said, the portions of each were very generous. Next we had the aguachile and corzetti with garlic scape pesto. The shrimp reminded me of ceviche as far as flavor profile. The pasta was unique from our perspective - never had corzetti. Both dishes were very good. Next was the salad as we do not like beets or gazpacho. Nice fresh salad with a dressing that was better than a typical vinaigrette. For mains we had the duck and the ribeye. Duck was prepared perfectly and the ribeye had a pesto and the patatas braves with accompanying (mild) chili sauce was a nice side addition. Very Espana!! Couldn't finish the steak by that point but enjoyed it a few days later. And finally the cheesecake and chocolate hazelnut choux pastry. The pastry was awesome!!
