I came here with my boyfriend, his dad, and his uncle for dinner on a Saturday night. They weren't very busy so I was a little surprised that the service wasn't faster. It wasn't aggravatingly slow, but slow enough that I noticed. I always like Asian restaurants that offer different types of cuisines because my boyfriend loves sushi and I'm not really a fan. I got chicken pad thai without the tofu (I'm allergic). It was really good. Great flavor, good amount of chicken, and a lot of food overall (I took half home and it was enough for a full meal). Jin 28 is a favorite lunch location for my staff. It's easy to get a large table in the restaurant if we feel like venturing out. And if we want to stay in? Their delivery minimum on GrubHub is only $10, making it easy to get a couple of people together for an order. You can't beat their lunch specials, all of which are less than $7.00, and are a variety of the cuisines that they offer (Thai, sushi, or Cantonese). The lunch portions are ridiculously huge and come with soup and either an egg roll or crab rangoon. It's an unbeatable deal. I come back to their egg drop soup repeatedly -- it's flavorful without being overly salty. The chicken and broccoli is also in my rotation -- loaded with veggies in a garlic sauce. We decided to drive to Highwood to look at the skeleton display and order from Jin 28 for the first time. The menu is large so can be a bit daunting. I was concerned with the amount of choices, could they get everything right? They surpassed my expectations. Obviously busy when I called to place my order - but polite and took the time to give me explanations on some of the entrees. We ordered two appetizers, the vegetable tempura and bbq ribs. The ribs were huge and delicious. A meal on its own. Excellent on both. We chose the Mongolian beef asking it without the spice. And the honey glazed walnut chicken. A+ The beef was so tender as was the chicken with a delicious sauce served with broccoli. We added the fried rice. Not only did we feel the portions were generous but the quality was truly delicious. We easily could have had 4 people eat from what we ordered! We can't wait to return. Even their hours are fabulous! We have a few spots in Lake Forest that we like but they aren't open for lunch. And not open for early dinners. At Jin 28 you can enjoy a late lunch or early dinner to enjoy the rest of your day. This was a real gem. read more

This is our go to sushi place where we used to sit down once a week at least but now order carry out. We've been there so much they know me by voice on the phone and the reason we keep on ordering is that the food is excellent. I'm guessing that their business is suffering during the pandemic but they keep plugging along for which I am grateful. i heard this place has the best sushi in the area so i will definitely be back for that. the prices are good and the portions are big. they've also set up a table at the front where you can pick up your order so you really don't have to go into the store. i got the singapore noodles to go for my dad's birthday picnic. these weren't the best singapore noodles i have had but they were okay. the flavors were good but the noodles were a little mushy and i think the sheer volume of them might have made the dish a bit one note. my husband has never had singapore noodles before and he loved them! one serving provided 3 meals for us. read more

However, when it's 45 minutes after the estimated delivery time and I'm the one that has to reach out and then no one is reachable? That's just ridiculous. This restaurant offers dishes from various Asian cuisines and on one especially cold day I decided to stop by for a takeout. It was around 3:30 pm on a weekday and the restaurant was completely empty. This is typically a huge turn-off for me but given the time of the day and super cold weather, it was not to concerning. With no other Vietnamese restaurants in the area, I went for their Pho soup. They have two kinds, chicken and beef and I asked for recommendation. They suggested beef. After a few minutes of wait, I received a hefty package with great smell wafting out. I ran another errand and still the soup was hot when I arrived home. The broth was very tasty and the portion generous. The meat consisted of several slices of beef and some meatballs that were ok. The noodles would have been better if I got too them sooner. All the garnishes were good, including the basil, cilantro, onions, jalapenos, and bean sprouts. However, I will have got to ask for extra limes next time - there was only one small wedge with not much juice in it. read more

Started with the vegetable pot stickers and was very pleasantly surprised. The filling was flavorful and I love that the wrapping wasn't the least bit greasy. The dipping sauce was even amazing. My elation continued as I started in on the BBQ pork fried rice. Again, super flavorful and packed full of proteins vs all rice. The final entree we tried was the Singapore noodles. I think we've finally found our go-to Chinese place in the neighborhood. We've ordered carryout twice now and were pleased both times. We had the fried wontons (crab rangoon) both times - it's outstanding. A must-order if you like crab rangoon (and really, who doesn't?)! I tried a curry the first time and a fried rice the second time. I thought that the curry was a little bland, but I added a little chili garlic sauce to it, and it was perfect. I then ordered the fried rice "spicy" and it was excellent, so I think I would just order the curry "spicy" as well. My husband enjoyed both of his entrees as well. Ordered online and immediately got a call saying the egg rolls were shrimp and chicken instead of just shrimp and was that ok?! The order was ready on time and it was a good value for the money. Came here on a very busy day and was very pleased to be seated right away. Based on other reviews and the fact the I like spicy, I ordered the Dragon Fire roll but the waitress didn't hear me properly and brought the Dragon roll instead. This was tasty when I asked her bring me some spicy mayo. Next time, I will try the Dragon Fire roll and send it back if it's not right. The son ordered two spicy tuna rolls, which came with lettuce in them. Fine, but kind of strange. I have to say the prices of the Maki rolls is a bit higher than I think they should be. For our entrees the son had the beef udon soup, the husband had the crazy noodles with shrimp and I ordered the chicken pad thai. The beef udon soup was good and filled up his bottomless pit of a stomach. I think the crazy noodles were too spicy for my husband but his tolerence for spicy is pretty low. I liked them a lot. My chicken pad thai was good. I really liked that the chicken wasn't dried out and the noodles were cooked perfectly. But to be fair I am very picky about my pad thai and I have had better. read more

Ordered take out from Jin 28 and it was great! We had the Thai cucumber salad, chicken lettuce wraps and panaag curry with tofu. Everything was really great. I'll be honest I wasn't too sure if this place would be good. I was really surprised. All of the ingredients were fresh and the salad and curry had just the right amount of spice. So many times I order both and they aren't spicy enough. The lettuce wraps were also quite good but my only complaint was that I thought they were a bit overpriced at $9. We also got an order of free California rolls as I had a coupon. They were so delicious! I am totally going to go back to try their sushi. Overall, I am super excited to go back to Jin 28. I think if you are in the Highwood area you should give it a shot. They also have terrific daily lunch specials of you are looking for a reasonably priced meal. read more

Whenever I have eaten from her, it has always been takeout because it is close to work for me and they serve very generous portions for good prices. I have never ha a problem with the food from here though their customer service could definitely be better! If you are here, do not miss out of their chicken satay! It is the biggest pieces and you can taste the freshness and the quality that they use! Their peanut dipping sauce is super tasty and goes perfectly with the chicken! I have has their sweet and sour chicken on many occasions as well as their curries and tofu dishes! They don't have enough curry in their curries, which sounds weird but its not as liquidy as I would have liked and because of that it doesn't mix in well with the rice. Everything does however, taste AMAZING! I would recommend this place to a friend, their smoothies are decent and their sodas are never flat. Definitely check this place out if you're on the area and craving Thai r Chinese food. When I finally got a hold of the restaurant they couldn't find my order. When I asked to be credited the amount of my order, they said they couldn't because they couldn't find the order.
